The Cards Are Greater Then The Magic
A Finished Deck And A Call To Action
The wold of Duel Monsters has come far with its worriors and protectors that had amazing feats by themselfs.
It ranged from the Duelest King, Yugi Muto, Who had stopped the chaos from Yami Marik, The Curse of The Seal Of Orichalcos, And Noah Kaiba. The Elemental Hero Fusionist Jaden Yuki, Who had used his incredable luck of the draw and the hope of his fusion monsters to take down Yubel and even fuse with the legendary monster itself.
There was also Yusei Fudo, Yuma Tsukumo, and Yuya Sakaki. The Masters of Syncro, XYZ, and Pendulum monsters. They all did amazing things with there decks and there cards. Even dueling eachother and sometimes with one another.
And here i am, an anime nerd with a Pendulim Structure Deck that i added and removed a few cards from so i could use it properly. Ranging with whatever i found usefull in pack and golden pack openings. It held power, yes, but it was hard to get it out in the first place.
I was currently in a duel with someone using an old Kaiba deck, about when Yugi and Kaiba first met, when Yugi had all exodia pieces at the time. He had all three Blue-Eye's White Dragons on the field, but one thing that old decks did not have a defence over was XYZ monsters. Using three of my strongest XYZ monsters, i was able to take down all of his Blue-Eye's and win the duel.
I was just packing up my deck, a few people asking how i was able to use my deck like i did, some giving me a few glares at the powerful cards i had, one or two wanting to read the effects of my cards. I just finished packing up my cards when the person who i had beaten walked up to me with something in his hands, a smile on his face.
Apperently, he was the manager of the card shop and wanted to congragulate me on my win by giving me an actual Dueling Disk. I could bairly contain my excitement as i took it, but not before asking if this is what he really wanted.
After a quick reply, I put on the Dueling Disk on, deciding i would go and test it out later, i pucked up my deck box and quickly headed out of the shop before any of the jelous duelists got any ideas. For those who wanted a good idea on what i looked like, i had wild and long hair that hung infront of my face sometimes, a zip up jacket with hoodie strings with a black color scheeme, a pair of jeans, and a set of blue shoes. My eye color was green as i was taller then your avrage adult male, dispite being 15.
While i was there, i finally got the last card i needed to fix up my deck. I was currently staring at it with a sigh with relief. The Winged Dragon of Ra, one of the three main god cards known in Yu-Gi-Oh, and i finally had one of them in my possesion. I just put it in one of my black card sleeves when i head a scream.
I jumped at the sudden noise, swerving my head around, looking around before i heard it again. Quickly finding the area the scream came from, i hurried down a path that lead away from the populated area, no one else seeming to hear it. Qickly making my way threw twists and turns, the path getting more narrow as the screams continue. I get farther and farther away from the populated area before i find myself in a clear outline of trees surrounded by a thick forest.
There was nothing in the circle of trees but some type of pool of water that shined like a crystal that was just polished to perfection. I felt a strange sensation a turned around to try and head back down the path, but the path behind me had dissapeared and i now only looked into the deep and thick forest, taking a step back from the sight.
I turned back around, not taking my chances with the forest. Deciding to see what was up with the pool of water, I was careful when walking up to it. I couldn't figure out what it was, but something was off about the pool. I eventualy got close enough to look into it.
I felt my stomach churn a bit when i was that it did not show the reflection of the sky above, but reflected some type of library. There where more books then i could count, but that wasn't nearly as strange as what was apperently looking into the other side of the pool.
Staring right back at me was what looked like a purple pony type creature, female from the looks of it, having purple hair and two diffrent colored stripes running down her mane and tail, one stripe being a pink color and the other looking more lavender. One thing that was noticable about her was that she had a horn a few inches long with a pair of wings atached to her back, folded in confortably.
I didn't understand how this spell could have helped the situation that Princess Celestia had described to me, but i was more interested in the creature inside of the portal that the spell made. It was nothing like i had ever seen before, the only type of hair that could be seen on it was on its head. It appeared to be a male, possably. However, it looked just as suprised as me.
It looked even more suprised when it leaned in closer and appeared to lose its footing and fall forward. My eyes widened and i took a few steps back as the portal rippled and appeared to splash as it came tumbling threw the portal. I yelped, my magical connection to the portal cutting off, causing it to close as it had crashed into a pile of books, burying itself under them, being still for a few moments before struggling to get the heavy amout of books off of it.
Having stared at the creature for a moment, i suddenly relised the state it was in, quickly using my magic to levitate to books off of him and setting them down in perfectly stacked possitions. The creature shot up into an upright sitting position and breathed heavily.
I felt a feeling of small guilt while staring at the creature while it calmed down. Getting a good look at it, i could confirm that it was a male, so creature was no longer something i could call him. I also noticed he had something attached to his left arm, it looked lke some type of weapon. Maybe this is why Princess Celestia wanted him? I slowly walked up to him, feeling a sense of curiosity.
He rubbed his head a bit as i smiled, questuring a friendly hoof twoards him. Doing this caused him to look at me with confusion, then at my hoof. "Hello, my name is Twilight Sparkle and its a pleasure to meet you. Umm, Who ever you are..." I said.
He stared at my hoof for a moment, then at me before extending an appendage on his sholder and grabbing my hoof with it, shaking my hoof. "Umm, Hello... Where am I?" He said, still looking confused.
I smiled at him and happily replied. "Well, Currently you are in my library, which is in the center of ponyville. But, can you tell me your name please?" I said.
He stared at me for a few moments before letting go of my hoof. "Uhh, call me Tyler" He said, standing up and looking around.
There was a look on his face i couldn't quite pin down, but it looked confused and excited for some reason. "Tyler the Mixed Master." He said.

Twilight couldn't help but stare at Tyler, he had a smile on his face, but he also looked concerned. Tyler turned to twilight, staring right back at her for a few moments. Twilight was the first to look away as Tyler slowly did the same, looking around before checking his pockets. He was surprised when he felt a box in his jacket pocket, it was a bit heavy.
After Pulling it out, Tyler was surprised that the box was the same style as his Deck Box, a black box that had the picture of a white dragon on the front, but it was bigger and didnt have the name frames on the sides. While Tyler was preoccupied with looking at the bigger deck box, twilight had decided to take a look at the Dueling Disk on his arm. It had an incredible style and shined like it was made of metal.
However, after pressing a button on it, it popped up and the two wing like attachments on it sprang forward, attaching to one another and locking into place. The sudden movement caused Tyler to look away from his other deck box and look at the Dueling Disk in surprise. 'What?! It's real? Why did that guy just give it to me then...' Tyler thought, starting to let his thoughts trail back to his other deck box. If Tyler was correct. every deck he had made was in the bigger deck box. 'Why was it in my pocket...?' Tyler thought, but was soon interrupted from thinking about anything else when the lavender pony next to him spoke up again.
"Excuse me if I sound rude, but what are you?" Twilight asked, a look of curiosity on her face, but also a bit of fear. After all, she only met up to the waist of Tyler, so she had to look up to look him in the eyes. Tyler looked down at twilight, his grin had faded and was replaced with a look of concern with some seriousness behind it. Twilight took a step back because of this, unsure about what Tyler was about to do. 'Oh no, I made him angry, what is he going to do? He doesn't look too mad, maybe he was just upset at my ques-' Twilight couldn't finish her thought as Tyler chuckled, a smile crossing his lips.
"Its alright, I won't hurt anyone. But if you must know, I am a human. But I could be asking the same thing, as well as why am I here?" Tyler said, looking away from Twilight to look at the Duel Disk on his arm, starting to try and figure out how to put it back to normal. Twilight stared at Tyler for a few moments before her horn started to glow and a scroll floated over to her. Tyler pushed the same button as Twilight did, the Duel disk going back to a more comfortable position.
"Thank you for the information Tyler, but as for your other question." Twilight paused as she looked threw the scroll, trying to find the reason why the princess wanted Tyler here. "I can't quite tell you why, all the princess told me was to cast the spell to bring you here, she didn't say why." Twilight said. Tyler sighed and looked down at his deck. Twilight looked worried for a moment before walking out of the room.
'So, I'm in some kind of alternate universe, No idea how I'm going to go back home, and I'm in a library that belongs to a talking purple pony with wings and a horn...' Tyler thought, looking at his hand for a moment. Tyler reeled his hand back and punched himself in the gut, his eyes widening as he doubled over, holding his stomach. 'N-Nope, this is real...' Tyler thought, slowly walking over to a table, taking a seat so he can recover from his own gut punch.
Twilight had returned with a small purple dragon following behind her. Twilight also had a few books balanced on her back as she approached Tyler. Tyler was currently sorting threw the other cards he had in his other deck box. Twilight couldn't help but watch him with curious eyes as he sorted out the cards in certain piles. Twilight didn't know what I was doing, but her thoughts soon trailed over to the smaller deck box that was in Tyler's hand when he came threw the portal.
Tyler glanced at Twilight for a moment before following her gaze, a bit of a grin on his face. "If you want, you can look at them, and if you interested, i can teach you about it." Tyler said, but regretted it a bit when he saw her eye's sparkle a bit with excitement. Tyler chuckles nervously and took the deck bock, taking out a stack of cards with black card sleeves, counting to a total of 60. After that, he took out a much smaller stack of cards with red card sleeves.
Gently, Tyler put them in proper order, getting ready to explain the rules to Twilight, who already had a quill and parchment ready. "Now, the first thing to know is that each player must have a deck. A deck is made of cards like these" Tyler said, picking up the card on the top of his deck, showing it to twilight. It was the Monster Card: Pendulum Machine. Twilight wrote every word he said on the parchment, looking up at in once she was done.
Tyler smiled at her, he never thought he would be a duelist teacher. "Now, only a maximum of sixty cards are allowed and a minimum of forty cards are allowed. Now this card is what is known as a monster card, a level six to be correct." Tyler put the card back down on top of his deck and shuffled it. "There are other cards beside monster cards, like spell cards and trap cards. If you want, i can make you a deck and we can duel, a demonstration battle is one of the best way's to learn how to duel.
Twilight had a wide and large smile on her face that kind of creeped Tyler out as he looked at the small purple dragon. The dragon simply shrugged in response as Tyler scooted away from Twilight a bit and got to work on making her a deck while Twilight started to study his, writing down any new facts she found out.
Tyler set two separate piles of cards in front of Twilight, interrupting her from her study work. Tyler took his back as twilight observed her cards. Tyler quickly showed her how to shuffle and they both proceeded to shuffle there decks. Tyler was still shuffling his deck while twilight stared at his Dueling Disk. Twilights horn glowed for a moment and Tyler's Dueling Disk was coated in a magic aura, causing Tyler to stop, his eyes widening.
Slowly, the aura left Tyler's Dueling Disk and manifested onto the table. Both Twilight and Tyler stared at it as it slowly turned into a Dueling disk like Tyler's, but it was more suited for a pony and was a lavender color instead of a gray color. Twilight slowly put it on, it fit her perfectly. Tyler had a look of shock before shaking his head.
"Well, i guess now that you have a Dueling Disk, this can be a lot more fun. Come on, follow me outside." Tyler picked up his deck and other cards, walking up to the doorway. Twilight followed, the purple dragon following behind her. "Oh, I forgot to ask, who is this little guy?" Tyler said, but his smile faltered when the Purple dragon narrowed its eyes at Tyler.
"Oh, this is my assistant Spike, Spike, this is Tyler." Spike got over what Tyler said about being little and slimed at him. Tyler smiled back, extending a hand towards Spike, who took his hand and shook it, smiling back at Tyler. After the friendly handshake, Tyler proceeded to walk out of the library, looking up in the sky. It appeared to be early morning, so no one else, and no pony else was up ether. Tyler smiles and put his deck into the deck slot, the other stack of cards disappearing from view as Twilight did the same, her other stack of cards disappearing as well.
"Alright, the rules are simple, we both get four thousand life points, the first to have there's drop to zero loses. You make players life pints drop by attacking them with a monster." Tyler presses the same button Twilight pushed before, causing his Duel Disk to pop up and extend, attaching the two winged style like appendages together to form a playing field on his arm. Twilight does the same and the field in front of the both of them appear to change into something more fitted for cards.
"Now, we will both draw five cards, but i will go first so I can teach you how things work." Twilight nodded and had the quill and parchment floating beside her with her magic, writing down what he had said. They both draw five cards, as a Life Point counter appears above both of them, showing 4000, showing that the duel had begun. Tyler looked at his cards and smiled.

"First, I will activate a spell, a spell card can be activated during the Main Phase One and Main Phase Two. There are six phases total. The Draw Phase, The Standby Phase, The Main Phase, The Battle Phase, Main Phase Two, and The End Phase. The Draw Phase is when you draw one card from your deck, but only if you are second, if you are the first to begin, you can't draw during your Draw Phase." Twilight nodded and stared at her hand, the quill scribbling down the exact words he was saying.
"After the Draw Phase, The Standby Phase begins. The Standby Phase is a phase that does nothing unless if a cards effect say's otherwise. After that, The Main Phase begins, This is when you can summon your monsters, set cards, and activate spells. But you cannot summon a monster with 4 stars or higher onto the field unless if you sacrifice a monster for it. One tribute is needed for a five or six star monster, two needed for a seven or eight star monster and so on." Twilight was studying her cards as Tyler began his Main Phase.
"First, I will activate Pendulum Call!" Tyler said as he slipped the spell into the spell/trap zone, causing a flaring light to appear above him, making Twilight shield her eyes. Tyler held up a card as it floated up into the light, making it appear to shatter as the shards started to form into two new cards. "By discarding one card from my hand, I can bring two Magician Pendulum Monsters from my deck to my hand." the shards fully form and float down to Tyler as he grabbed them. "I have chosen Stargazer and Timegazer Magician! I'll get into what Pendulum monsters do later." Tyler said as Twilight stared at the scene before her, nodding.
"Next, I will activate Sacred Sword of Seven Stars!" Tyler said as a giant gold sword appeared behind him. He held up a card, revealing it to be Metaphys Armed Dragon just before it was slashed in half and faded away by the sword. "This allows me to remove a level seven monster from my hand or on my field from play so i may draw two cards." Tyler then proceeded to draw to cards from his deck, a grin on his face.
"You remember the two pendulum monsters I brought out from my deck? Well your about to get to know them a bit more." Tyler said as he picked out two cards from his hand, setting them on two different sides of his dueling disk and the two magicians emerged from both sides of his field as the sky above his field started to glow. "You see, pendulum monsters are both Spell and Monster cards. Both having different effects as a spell or a monster, and the only place they can go is on the pendulum scales. This however, Also allows me to have access to the Pendulum Summon. But we will get into that later. Now, I will now summon another Magician Pendulum Monster, Dragonpulse Magician!" Tyler said as a card appeared on the field in front of them, the said magician rising out of it, striking a pose. Dragonpulse Magician: Stars: 4 Atk: 1800 Def: 900 "I will then end my turn by setting one card facedown." A giant facedown card appeared in front of Tyler.
"Now, when you go first, you cant enter The Battle Phase, so you cant attack, Main Phase Two is just like The Main Phase, but if you already Normal Summoned a monster, you cant summon again. But you can Special Summon as many times as you want. The End Phase is just like The Standby Phase, but you end your turn once it is over." Tyler said as Twilights turn began.
She glanced nervously at her cards and then at me. "Oh, just so you know, you can set a monster facedown on its side as well if you want to go on the defensive, this is also how you use a Flip Effect." Tyler said as twilight started to calm down, taking a card from the top of her deck.
"I will activate Pot of Greed." Twilight said, assuming that Tyler already knew the effect, she drew two cards. She then set a monster facedown with three other cards in her back row, three giant facedown cards appearing in front of her.

"Draw." Tyler took a card from his deck. "I will first activate my set Spell Card and the Spell in my hand. Galaxy Cyclone and Mystical Space Typhoon! Galaxy Cyclone destroys one of your set spell or trap cards and Mystical Space Typhoon Destroyes one of your spell or traps." Two vortexes appeared and surrounded two of the cards in front of her, revealing them to be a set Trap Hole and Monster Reborn just before they visibly shattered. Twilight shielded her eye's as the winds whipped at her, slowly fading away. "Next, I will summon Jigabyte to the field!" A lizard humanoid creature rose up from the card that appeared in the front row of Tyler's field. Jigabite: Stars: 4 Atk: 1500 Def: 200
Tyler's grin turned into a smile as Twilight looked to see that her quill was writing everything down. "Now, i will enter my battle phase. Jigabyte, attack Twilights Face Down Monster!" The lizard like creature gave a roar as it ran forward. "Electric Slash!" It quickly got to the facedown monster, slashing at it as its boxy erupted with electricity. A faded image of a female magician dressed in yellow robes appeared before it shattered, taking the card along with it as the shards glowed for a moment before going to Twilight, forming a card in front of her as she takes it. "Now, go Dragonpulse Magician, attack with Pulsating Blast!" The double sided blade in its hand spun as a white ring blasted off of it, heading right for Twilight.
However, her last facedown card flipped up, glowing, taking the blast for her, shooting out a rainbow blast of its own at Jigabite and Dragonpulse Magician, making contact and destroying them. Tyler's eye's widened in shock as both of his monsters where destroyed, a smile on Twilights face. "You activated a Trap Card Tyler, Mirror Force!" Twilight said with a smile on her face. Something felt right about what they where doing, but Twilight couldn't quite put her hoof on it, but it felt exciting. She looked at the Spell Card her Magician of Faith had given her. It was the Monster Reborn Spell Card.
Tyler smiled as Jigabites shards reformed themselves into a new card. "Jigabites Effect activates. When it is destroyed, I can Special Summon a monster with the same attack and defense as itself. Now, come fourth Inari Fire!" Tyler said as a card formed where Jigabite used to be, a fox that had fur that flared like fire rising out of the card, making a growling noise. Inari Fire: Stars: 4 Atk: 1500 Def: 200 "I will end my turn. Your move Twilight." Tyler smiled at her as Twilight drew a card from her deck.
"I will activate the Spell Card Monster Reborn" Twilight said as a large version of the spell card appeared in the monster field. Tyler stared at it as a very large figure emerged from it, causing Tyler's eye's to widen. "Now, come to my aid Guardian Eatos!" The figure appeared to be quite lady like and dawned white wings and a tribal suit. Guardian Eatos: Stars: 8 Atk: 2500 Def: 2000 Tyler stared at the monster with wide eye's before a smile crossed his face. "I will then activate Horn of Light and equip it to Guardian Eatos. But it wont be there for long as i activate Guardians effect, destroying the equipped spell card to banish three monsters in your Graveyard, giving Guardian Eatos a Total of four thousand attack points!" Guardian Eatos: Atk: 4000 Def: 2000 Tylers smile had grown bigger while Twilights monster had gained its new attack.
"Next, i will activate Raigeki, to destroy all the monsters on your field." Clouds formed above Tyler's field as it crackled with lightning, a lightning bolt shooting down and striking Inari Fire, making it give out a roar just before its formed shattered, leaving Tyler's field empty. Tyler had closed his eyes at this point as a excitement surged threw Twilight as she shouted the final sentence of the duel. "Now, Guardian Eatos, strike Tyler down with all of his Life Points with Guard Strike!" The Guardian extended its wings and flew forward, raising its blade above its head gaining speed as it brought its sword down on Tyler, slashing threw him like a hologram as Tyler yelled out as his Life Point Counter beeped, counting down to zero.

Twilight Wins
The field before them dissipated as both of there Dueling Disks going back to normal, there cards going back to there respective places. Tyler fell to his knees, as he sighed, Twilight jumping around with joy. "I did it, I cant believe I did it! How did the monsters come out of there cards like that? How did they respond like that? How did it look so realistic-" Twilights rant was cut off when she was Tyler on his knees. Twilight didn't look so happy anymore as she trotted up to Tyler. "Tyler? Are you alright?" Tyler breathed in and out as a response to her question, lifting his head up to look at her.
"Yes Twilight, I'm more then alright." Tyler stood up, looking down at twilight with a smile on his face. "I have taught people how to play this game in the past, but they all gave up once they Dueled me. But now something that i heard is coming back to me, something that a wise and old Duelist had told me. It doesn't matter how hopeless the situation is, how much you've lost, or what your opponent says. As long as you have the bond of your friends with you, all you must do i believe in the heart of the cards and it will guide you to victory." Twilight smiled at him, but also found out what was making her so excited.
Twilight was scared of what Tyler would have done to her in there duel, but then she had remembered what she and all of her friends had gone threw. Just remembering her friends had filled her with hope. Hope that she would win the duel, and she did. Twilight was about to say something else, but was interrupted by a glow. Both Twilight and Tyler looked down, seeing that the glow was coming from Tyler's chest.
Tyler took a step back as the glow had grown brighter and brighter, Twilight and Spike having to cover there eye's from brightness. Tyler had felt a hot sensation starting to rise from his chest and continue to grow hotter as he felt something in grave onto his chest. The glow slowly started to fade, Twilight and Spike blinking there eyes to adjust to the absent glow. There eye's soon could see clearly, looking at Tylers chest. Tyler now had what resembled an Upside Down Pyramid with and eye on the front of it engraved on his Jacket with a golden color. Tyler soon gained his eyesight back and did the same as them. But that was not the biggest surprise he had noticed just now. The biggest one is when he heard a voice in his head, a very familiar voice.
'Hello young one, perhaps you could help me find my way.' It was Atem, The Forgotten Pharaoh.
The Cards Are Greater Then The Magic
Making New Friends And The Yami Game
After a strange turn of events, Tyler had found himself entering a portal into a magical land of pony's. It was here that he had Twilight Sparkle, a pony with wings and a horn. They had quickly formed a bond in a heated duel, Twilight being the victor. After the duel, Tyler had found out the true meaning of the words "Believe in The Heart of the Cards". However, Tyler was interrupted when a bright glow appeared on his chest. After all of that, Atem The Forgotten Pharaoh had announced his presence inside of Tyler's mind. What does all of this mean?!
Tyler stared at Twilight for a few moments, a bit in shock and surprise. He was both confused and amazed at what had happened. "A-Atem...?" Tyler said, Twilight looking at him confused. Tyler stood there for a few moments, slowly putting a hand on his chest. After a few moments of silence, Tyler looked at Twilight. "N-Never mind, It must have bee-" Tyler froze mid sentence after hearing the voice again.
'How do you know my name? Where am i? Who are you?' The voice, apparently named Atem, said in Tyler's mind. Tyler took a step back, not sure what to say. Twilight looked at Tyler, a look of concern on her face. Spike looked at Tyler confused, currently debating if he was just crazy. 'I am sorry I had startled you, but this is of utmost importance to me. I had just finished my duel with my other and i was supposed to join my friends in the afterlife.' Atem said, sounding slightly annoyed.
"Tyler, are you ok?" Twilight said, a look of shock, confusion, and a tinge of fear on Tyler's face. Tyler breathed in and out calmly, slowly calming himself down. He took another look at the new symbol on his chest, tracing the outline of the pyramid. Tyler was currently planning how to explain this to Twilight and Spike.
"Well, I guess I'm alright Twilight, if you don't count the fact that I have someone in my head now..." Tyler said, Twilight giving him a look. Tyler sighed, a bit lost himself on how he was going to explain this. 'Look, Atem. I'm just as confused as you are, if I knew what happened I would have gladly told you.' Tyler thought, waiting for an answer from the Pharaoh.
Twilight thought to herself for a moment before getting an idea, quickly galloping into her library. Spike stared at the library for a few moments before looking at Tyler. Tyler was currently in a deep thought conversation with the Pharaoh. Twilight came galloping back out, holding a quill and parchment with her magic. "Tyler, I think I'm ight know how to solve your p-" Twilight was cut off when she saw the amount of pony's starting to leave there homes, a few noticing Tyler.
'So, what your saying is that I was supposed to be with my friends. But something must have happened to send me to you?' Atem thought, Tyler giving a nod in response. 'I'll help in any way I can to bring you back to your era, but in the meantime, my name is Tyler' Tyler thought, hearing a noise of approval from the Pharaoh. Tyler sighed with relief before hearing the sound of hoof steps, turning around. Tyler took a step back, a large group of pony's gathered in front of him, staring at him.
Tyler took a step back as most of the pony's started to question what Tyler was and what he might do. Tyler looked at them all before clearing his throat. "I know you must be confused as to why something like myself is here. But I assure you I'm not here to cause any harm." Tyler said. Some of the pony's started to become suspicious of him, some even taking a step or two towards him.
Tyler was about to say something to help prove his case, but the symbol on his chest started to glow like before. Tyler could feel his body change a bit as all the pony's that had gathered took a few steps back, including Twilight and Spike. 'Let me handle it from here, my new partner.' Tyler heard Atem say, his hair starting to spike up a bit in a more wild manner, his jacket unzipping and looking to turn into a leather one, revealing a blue shirt that had turned into a tank top.
The light slowly died down and Tyler's normal green eye color had turned into red color, his facial features having more of a sharp look to it. Tyler had turned into Yami Tyler, a more experienced version of himself. Yami Tyler smiled and took a few steps forward before holding up his left arm, showing off the Dueling Disk. It shined in sun as the top popped up and the attachments sprang forward and connected to one another, forming the same miniature field as before.
"Attention Ponyville! You must be wondering what or who I am. In due time, I will tell you all, for now however, I bring all of you a gift." Yami Tyler's voice was different compared to Tyler's normal voice, being a bit deeper and having a more serious tone. He looked at Twilight, who was staring at Yami Tyler with a look on concern. Yami Tyler gave her a reassuring smile and looked back at the Pony's.
Meanwhile, an orange female pony with a blond mane and tail with a cowboy hat on was trotting her way to what looked like a small shop shack, lined with many apple products. From specialty brewed apple cider to just normal apples, it was incredible how many apples could be in one place. The orange pony happily hummed a tune to her self as she stacked her apple products into quite the impressive pattern.
She was about to flip the closed sign to open, but she had just noticed a noticeable absence of pony's in the area. In fact, now that she got a good look around, a lot of pony's had gone missing from there usual jobs in the market. "Huh, next ta discord, this is one of the most strangest things ah've seen..." The cowboy pony said, deciding to leave her small shop closed to have a look around. After all, pony's didn't just disappear, right?
After a bit of snooping and searching, it appeared that pony's had left there homes, but just didn't go to work. This had puzzled her greatly, every pony in ponyville always worked on time, the only excuse being that if some pony was sick. She had also noticed a large absence of strong parchment for a strange reason. After a bit more snooping, all of the pony's looked to be gathered around by Twilights Library.
She started to make her way past pony's to see what was worth all of the desperate attention that the pony's where giving it. She started to hear whispers and light talk about something called Life Points, Traps, Spells, and something about Light Monsters. The closer to the middle she got, the louder the whispers became. She had suddenly found herself listening in on pony's as they talked about the rules to some type of game.
Questions started to form and then swarm in her head the further she got. She heard other pony's question about Spell Cards. The word card caught her off guard a bit, but she couldn't turn back now. She had listened carefully to all the pony's, more confused then anything as one big question started to form into her mind as the pony's talked about it.
She had finally got to the middle of the crowd as it was an open area with a table and two chairs. The two chairs had been occupied by something she thought was a hairless monkey with something made of a big hunk of flashy metal on its arm. The other seat was occupied by a young filly with a soft yellow coat of fur and somewhat poufy red hair. the strange thing was that the filly had a red bow on her head, and all of this caught the cowboy pony's attention.
"Apple Bloom! Just what in tarnation do you think your doing out here!" the cowboy pony walked over to the table where the all too familiar Tyler sat in front of the filly named Apple Bloom. The said filly jumped at the mention of her name, dropping the cards she was somehow holding with her hooves. Tyler looked a bit confused at the sudden outburst from the orange mare, deciding to get up, looking down at the mare as she got to the table.
"I'm sorry Apple Jack, I know I wasn't supposed to be doin' this, but every pony looked like they where having so much fun while messin around with these here cards..." Apple Bloom said, her head low with shame. Applejack, the apparent name of the orange mare, would have told Apple Bloom off, but she was too distracted by the massive figure of Tyler looming over her.
Now naturally, Apple Jack was quite the brave pony. But this, it was a bit too much for her. She was only 3 feet tall and compared to a 6 1/2 foot tall giant that was nothing no pony has ever seen before. She tried to keep her fright of Tyler at bay, but with his shadow looming over her, it was harder said then done.
Tyler however, could plainly see this and knelt down to her eye level to try and make her more comfortable. It wasn't in vain as she did calm down enough to hold a conversation with. "Apple Jack was it? Apple Bloom here told me a small bit about you, just that you where her sister. But really, If Apple Bloom was not supposed to be here, it was my fault for not finding you first, so please save any scolding you might have given her, will you?" Tyler said, smiling at the now understanding mare. Although, she was still confused about why every pony was in this area.
"If ya don't mind me askin, what the hay is going on here anyway?" Apple Jack said, the confusion in her voice clear. Tyler chuckled at her question as he extended a hand to the library. Apple Jack looked over and could see Twilight and Spike, with a few other Unicorns, Working with the parchment that had disappeared from some areas. They where making cards just like the ones on the table that Tyler and herself where beside.
"Well Apple Jack, I came to this place a few hours ago and I ended up showing off the incredible game Duel Monsters. I'm sure you've heard of the rules while making your way here. Twilight asked me if I had any more cards then what I had on me. Sadly the answer was no, but she gave me the most surprising request and asked me if she could make her own. It would have been a lie if I said no." Tyler motioned for Apple Jack to follow him as he walked over to Twilight.
Twilight had smiled at me and passed a pile of freshly made cards over to a mare Unicorn, who proceeded to use her magic sort out the cards with notes that where given to them by Twilight and Tyler. After sorting out the generation the cards where from, the four piles where passed to the next Unicorn, who was a stallion, who had sorted the four piles into different sections and small stacks of 5 to 15 cards that where randomized. Once this step was done, the piles where given to the last Unicorn, who was another mare, to be wrapped in different silver like packs before sorted into different boxes, that Spike was carrying back and fourth into the library.
"I'm not sure how this might look to you, but quite a few pony's will enjoy this game after it was explained to th-" Tyler was interrupted when he was suddenly tackled to the ground. The sent of frosting filled his nose as the first thing Tyler saw when opening his eye's was pink. He heard a squealing noise and found out that the pink thing was suffocating him.
Tyler quickly struggled to get the thing off of his face, but it felt like it had an iron grip. "Pinkie, stop it, your suffocating him!" Twilight said, helping Tyler get Pinkie off of his face. Once Pinkie got off of Tyler, he took a deep breath in, coughing a bit. Tyler looked at Pinkie, who was a completely pink mare with hair like cotton candy. Pinkie was hopping around Tyler, speaking at such a fast speed, it was incredibly difficult for him to understand her.
"Ohmygoshwhatareyou? Doyoulikepartys? Whatsyourfavoratecolor? Whatarethesecardthinigies?" Pinkie said with a great amount of excitement in her voice. Tyler backed away a bit, started to get overwhelmed with questions. This continued for a few seconds before the pink mare made a large gasp and bolted off somewhere. Tyler stood there, a look of pure confusion on his face.
"What just happened...?" Tyler asked, causing some of the pony's to chuckle or giggle. He got up and off of the ground, rubbing his head a bit. Twilight trotted over to Tyler, helping him up on his feet.
"Sorry Tyler, Pinkie Pie can get excited about new pony's around ponyville. It was bound to happen eventually." Tyler smiled at her for a moment before Apple Jack trotted over to them. She was about to say something to Tyler, but something caught her eye. It looked just as strange as Tyler, but on a poster. It had green skin and some type of headgear on, it also had some strange type of cloth around its hands that was big and red. Bellow that was some text that spelled out Battlin Boxers.
Tyler walked up to Apple Jack, noticing what she was staring at. "Oh, interested in the Battlin Boxers series?" Tyler said, catching Apple Jacks attention, but only for a moment. 'Tyler, perhaps we could use this to our advantage. The little one might be in trouble and we could do something.' Atem said, Tyler thinking about the idea. "Perhaps I could explain myself in a different way?" Tyler said. Apple Jack's ears perked up at this and she looked at Tyler.
"What do you mean a different way?" Applejack said, causing Tyler to chuckle. He motioned her to wait next to Twilight as he entered Twilight's library again. Apple Jack trotted up to Twilight, giving her a look of confusion. Twilight gave her the same look and shrugged.
Apple Bloom had ran of to find her friends Sweetie Bell and Scootalo to tell them about Dueling Monsters. Of course they where excited about the idea, even more so when they thought that they could earn there Cutie Marks from it. Apple Bloom soon returned with her friends and two other mares. One was a cyan color and a rainbow mane and tail that didn't look like it was taken care of too often, she also had a pair of wings that she was using to float above the other 4 pony's. The other mare bellow her had a white coat that looked it was brushed three times over, the same could also be said about her purple mane and tail, that appeared to glitter in the light as she also had a horn that was almost like twilights, this one however was smaller and a bit more blunt. The cyan Pegasus looked a bit too excited and the Unicorn looked more curious then annoyed.
Twilight looked at the two mares a bit surprised. "Rainbow Dash and Rarity? What are you two doing here?" Twilight said as the mares trotted/flew over to her.
"Well darling, Sweetie Bell was making such a big deal about something called Dueling Monsters so I just had to see it for myself. That and she just would not stop pestering me about the subject." Rarity said, brushing some of her mane out from in front of her eye's. But before Twilight could ask why Rainbow Dash was here, she had already darted for one of the boxes that Spike was carrying into the Library. Spike however had set the box down to take a bit of a brake, causing Rainbow Dash to fly right into the door to the library. Right as Tyler opened the door, causing her to crash into him.
Inside, every pony that was close enough to the house could hear the sound of falling books, two voices yelling out in a panic, the frantic sound of flapping wings and wood splintering. However, that was all stopped the sound of a giant thump and then silence. After a bit, the door to the library slowly opened and Tyler walked out with Rainbow Dash. Tyler had a blank expression, as if suppressing a look. Rainbow Dash however, had an embarrassed look, her cheeks red and wings sticking up, outstretched in a locked position
Tyler cleared his throat and walked up to Apple Jack, a deck of cards in his hand. She looked at him for a moment before taking the deck of cards. "That's a Battlin Boxer deck, think it might suit you. Also, I would like to know if you would want to Duel me?" Tyler said as Apple Jack was looking threw the deck he had given her. To say the least, he might look strange, but Tyler knew what he was doing when he made a deck.
Tyler stared at her for an answer, but shrugged when she didn't give one. He walked back into Twilight's library again as Rainbow Dash trotted over to Apple Jack, helping her look over some of the cards in her new deck. Meanwhile, a certain some pony with many mismatched animal limbs was sitting on a twisted up couch, looking board out of its mind. This creature was called a Daconequus , a very special one in fact. The name of this Daconequus was Discord, a male to be correct.
Discord was starting to bore himself to insanity, but being who he was, he got an idea. But of course, what else to cure his boredom then to cause a little chaos with the little pony's of Ponyville. He snapped his fingers and a small TV appeared in front of him. He stared at it for a moment befo- "Excuse me Narrator but I think a Flat screen would be better then this." Well Discord, I was about to do that, and stop braking the fourth wall, that isn't your job. "Very well, my bad Narrator." Discord said, the TV turning into a big Flat screen TV.
He smiled and the TV turned on, showing ponyville a few hours ago. He was surprised to find Twilight staring into a portal. "Hmm, wonder what Sparkle Butt was doing with a portal of all things" Discord stared at the TV with a look of curiosity, but that was soon replaced with surprise as Tyler had tumbled out of the portal and into Twilight.
"A human? How interesting..." Discord thought out loud to himself as he continued to watch the events that had played out from before. Everything was quite boring up until Tyler brought out his cards. "Oh my, now that is interesting" Discord said with a smile. getting closer to the TV. Tyler looked like he was practicing a what he would do with his beginning hand when he drew it. After a while of watching this, it started to get boring again. That is, until Tyler and Twilight had there first duel.
Discord was not only surprised by the display of what a duel could do, he was also a bit jealous that someone found out how to cause chaos without any destruction to reality. Discord sat back down and pondered what he could do to learn how such a thing was possible. He did this for a bit until he looked at the TV again, seeing the beginning of Tyler, with the help of a few Unicorns, start to make more of the cards he had.
Discord slowly got a grin, a good, yet a bit chaotic plan forming in his mind. "Of course, what better to try and find out how he does it when I could just duel the Human itself!" Discord said, snapping his fingers, the TV disappearing. He was just about to leave before a thought crossed his head. "I don't even have any cards to duel the human..." Discord said with a frown. He thought about rethinking his plan, going back to his couch.
Meanwhile back in Ponyville, Tyler's original idea was to make cards for everyo- Sorry, every pony. Tyler had to get used to the new form of speech that was used in Equestria. Anyway, Tyler's original idea was to just make a deck for every pony. But, he slowly found out how boring that would be, so he decided to just do things how they where on earth. So, he had tons of packs ready to be sold to all the filly's and colts of Equestria, the parents as well. Tyler smiled at his work, granted he had help from Twilight, Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack with making room for his new section in the library.
Rarity had also decided to help, with décor of course. She had made it just the way Tyler wanted. Now, Tyler had Twilight help him with one last thing before he was opened for business. Tyler wanted Twilight to make different copy's of his duel disk like before. Why would he ask this? Because he wanted to hold a tournament right in Ponyville. Tyler thought it would be the perfect thing to help pony's teach themselves what it meant to duel.
Tyler had just set the stack of sign up sheets on his counter, Twilight putting the last of the dueling disks on display. Tyler sighed and leaned back on a table, a small smile on his face. "You have no idea how great full to you I am Tyler" Twilight said, trotting up to Tyler. "Sharing this card game and all of the knowledge of it. Its nice to have some change in Ponyville for once." Twilight said as Tyler looked at her, grinning.
"Your great full? Heh, that's the other way around from my perspective" Tyler said, getting a confused look from Twilight. Before Twilight could ask, Tyler made his way to the door to Twilight's library. Preparing himself from the oncoming storm of pony's, he opened the door, yelling out that his shop was now open.
Tyler barely had any time to run back behind his counter before the new card shop was flooded with pony's of all shapes and sizes, quickly looking at the packs of cards, the structure decks, and the Dueling Disk's. Tyler had a smile on his face as he watched the pony's brows his shop. Tyler was happy behind his counter, sorting out his cards on the side of giving pony's advice and checking out items they bought. Tyler didn't quite know how much bits where on earth, so he made an estimate that a bit in Equestria was a dollar on earth.
Tyler was just suggesting a pony to the Grave keeper Deck when some pony had shoved them out of the way while he had his back turned, looking threw some of the structure decks he had created. The said some pony had cleared there throat to catch Tyler's attention. The pony was successful, but Tyler didn't feel too good about the voice of the pony.
Tyler turned around with a few cards in his hands, looking at a brown earth stallion with a black mane and tail, his mane combed back as he had what looked like some type of suit and tie on. Twilight had mentioned something called Cutie Marks to Tyler when they where working. She said that they where the mark of a pony's special talent. The one this stallion had was three bags of cash on both of his flanks and the look on his face screamed snobby rich boy to Tyler.
Tyler stared at the stallion for a few moments before setting the cards he was holding down. "Sorry, how may I help you sir?" Tyler said, putting the best smile he could on his face. The stallion cleared his throat before looking at some of the framed cards or pictures on the wall behind Tyler.
"Yes, you can help me. Tell me, what is the strongest "Deck" you have. I would also like to know if there are any available teachers with such a game." The stallion said, his voice only proving Tyler's suspicions.
"Well, I can recommend a Blue-Eye's White Dragon deck. However the structure deck only has one Blue-Eye's in it, the others you will have to find in the Blue-Eye's packs or trade with other pony's. The Blue-Eye's deck itself contains many Delete repeated word powerful monsters, but once again, the structure deck is just one to start off with, it does not have all of the said monsters. As for teachers, no one in Equestria is more suited to teach then myself." Tyler said, the stallion taking in what Tyler had said, continuing to look at the back wall.
"What about those one's back there?" Tyler heard the voice of a filly say. He turned to look at a pink filly with a pampered mane and tail colored a light purple, having a white stripe going down both her mane and tail. She had a tiara on her head and strangely enough, a tiara as her Cutie Mark. The said filly was pointing at something behind Tyler. Tyler turned around to see four cards in an almost silvery gold color. They where the god cards, Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, the Winged Dragon of Ra, and The Creator God of Light Horakhty. After Tyler had told Twilight about them, she had decided to make a copy of all of them just so Tyler could put them on display.
"Oh, funny you ask. Those cards are the Egyptian God Cards. Each one more powerful then the last. The strongest of them all being The Creator God of Light Horakhty. The card itself is a Tribute Fusion Card and when summoned, you instantly win the duel" Tyler said, remembering when Atem himself summoned the Horakhty.
"Well then, how much for those four then?" The stallion asked, only to be answered with a slight frown from Tyler.
"I am terribly sorry sir, but they are not for sale. They are the only ones in Equestria, except The Winged Dragon of Ra." Tyler said, getting a look from the filly and a bit of an annoyed one from the stallion.
"Well, where is the copy of this Ra you speak of" The stallion said in a bit of a rude tone, that was instantly followed from a glare from Tyler that caused him to take a step back.
"The last copy of Ra is in my personal deck. Now, the best I can give you currently is a personal lesson from myself and a Blue-Eye's or a Red-Eye's deck. Now if you excuse me, I have to get back to work." Tyler said, turning away from the stallion, looking back threw the cards with a bit of an annoyed look. This caused cause the stallion to look more mad then anything. But, before he could say anything, the filly next to him said something first.
"Then why not duel for them. You duel me and the deck I've made so far and the winner gets the cards. That is, unless if your too scared you'll lose to a filly. You are the best Duelist Teacher, is that not what you said?" The filly said, the last part really getting to Tyler. On any other occasion, he would have said no to this offer. But these two pony's, they disrespected his word, the rules of his store, and now they insulted his pride. Tyler was no longer in a peaceful mood, he was done.
"Alright kiddo, you think you can step up to make a bet like that, fine. You and me, outside, fifteen minutes" Tyler said in a rather angry tone. He grabbed his deck, putting his dueling disk on his arm. He didn't need to put a sign on his counterpace because most of the pony's heard what was about to happen and quickly got outside.
The filly grinned and the stallion grabbed her a small dueling disk that would fit her. Getting Tyler mad was just what she wanted to do. From what she gathered in the small amount of time, angry Duelists make terrible play's. She giggled to herself, casually walking outside.
However, once she got outside, it was somehow night. She looked around to find herself in an open field. Before she could start to panic, her thoughts where interrupted by a shadowy figure in front of her with glowing golden eye's and the same symbol Tyler has on its chest, the symbol glowing as well. "Welcome Diamond Tiara, its game time." The shadows dropped from the figure, revealing it to be Yami Tyler.
"If your wondering how I know your name, its simple really. You are in my plane of reality, and I offer you a challenge at a game." Yami Tyler said, getting a look from Diamond Tiara, apparently that was the name of the filly.
"What kind of game?" Diamond asked, getting a grin from Yami Tyler. Something about this "Plane of Reality" didn't feel to safe. But there was something else about it, like any pony could be themselves in the reality.
"A Yami Game. But I must warn you, if you brake the rules, there will be dire consequences." Yami Tyler said with a semi serious look, but a grin still on his face. The ground around them gave way, a small but sturdy tree growing on a piece of the ground every few feet. All of the ground gave way to nothingness but the bits that had trees on them and a path that connected to the farthest patch of ground, attached to the patch of ground Yami Tyler was on. on the patch of ground farthest away, there was a case that held the Egyptian God Cards from Tyler's shop.
"The rules are simple, get to the case before I do, Without magic, and the cards are yours to take. Try not to look down." Yami Tyler said, starting to walk slowly accost the long and twisting path. Diamond was shocked, but also understood. She nodded at Yami Tyler to confirm that she was playing.
Yami Tyler smiled and went slower, allowing Diamond some time to think on what to do. However, naturally she did look down, but it was a big mistake. Bellow her was fire, lots of golden fire. In the fire where creatures that where like Tyler, but they had horns and twisted faces with red skin. Some of them where chained to the floor with red liquid pouring off of there red skin. But upon a more proper look, the ones with chains had no skin. They looked like they where screaming, the red skinned creatures stabbing and clawing at them, but they wouldn't die.
There was a spot where a red skinned creature had no pony to mess with, but Diamond looked away before she could get a better look. But she already knew that spot was for her if she failed. She looked at the trees, and then the distance between each patch of ground. If she got to the top, she might have been able to jump to platform to platform. But it was too risky considering the risk if she fell.
She looked at Yami Tyler, who was about a quarter of the way down the path. There was no way she could make it before he did. When he won he was going to put her in those empty chains and she would suffer the same fate as those other creatures. She laid down when she started to think what her life was like up to this point and found out, she only made one friend in there entire life. Every pony else disliked her or even hated her, even the filly's and colts from her school.
Tears started to form in her eyes as she figured out that she had been nothing bit a big meanie from the start, she didn't want to be like this of course. It was her parents influence that made her like this, and she hated it. she covered her face with her front hooves, letting the tears fall from her face as she layed in the ground. However, because of this, she did not notice that Yami Tyler had stopped, looking at Diamond. Yami Tyler's grin turned into a nice smile as the tree she was next to bent down from some force, looking like it was leaning down to look at her.
"Are you alright little one?" A wise and old sounding voice spoke, causing Diamond to jump a bit, halting her tears for a few moments. She looked confused before the tree moved again, causing Diamond to jump onto her hooves. "Oh, I am terribly sorry for scaring you. You see, me and my brothers where the first trees to ever be planted on a suitable place for us to live and we go to random places to see what they are like. However, I couldn't help but notice that your in a bit of a tear here." The tree said, the other ones on the platforms swaying a bit at its words.
The tears in Diamonds eye's stopped flowing and now just built up in her eyes, thinking about what the tree said. "C-Can you and your brothers help me get to the case on the other side... P-Please..." Diamond said, her voice a bit harsh from sobbing quietly. The tree shook for a moment and moved down, using its branches to gently grab ahold of her before picking her up.
Of course Diamond was scared, but it was the only thing she had left to try. So, she braced herself for whatever the tree would do with her. The tree reeled back and tossed her into another tree, one that moved the same way as the first one and caught her gently. She was thrown tree to tree and once Yami Tyler saw this, he started walking at a normal pace, a smile on his face.
Soon, Diamond was on the platform with the case, Yami Tyler following behind her. She smiled and waved at the trees, that proceeded to move like they where waving back at her. Yami Tyler picked up the case, walking up to her. "Very well Diamond Tiara, you have won the game and you may take your prize." Yami Tyler said, holding out the case for her. Diamond smiled and pushed it away from her and back into his arms.
"I'm honored, but they belong to you, and if I learned anything from this. It doesn't help anyone to be mean like I was. And if I have friends, I'll always know that they have my back." Diamond said, Yami Tyler holding the case to his side, the symbol on his chest glowing. Not too far after, his eye's started glowing a gold color.
"The Gates of Darkness have been sealed and a new winner has emerged. In the Yami Game, ones true self is shown. Diamond Tiara, you have passed this test." Yami Tyler said, the area around them seeming to fade and change. Yami Tyler disappeared as he glowed brighter, causing Diamond to shut her eye's for a few moments. However, when she opened them, she was in front of Twilights library.
Some pony tapped her shoulder, causing her to look over it. Yami Tyler was behind her, holding out a card. "Here, you've earned this." Yami Tyler said, giving her the card. It was the Winged Dragon of Ra. Diamonds eye's widened and she was about to tell him she didn't want it, but Yami Tyler was already gone. The door to Twilight's library opened and Tyler walked out, Diamond turning to face him.
"Oh, hey, I have your Blue-Eye's structure deck ready, come pick it off the counter when you want it. Also, enjoy that card." Tyler said, winking at her for a quick moment before going back into the library, leaving the door open for other pony's. Diamond stared into the library for a few moments before she smiled, walking into the library.
The library was once again a happy place for all duelists. except for a certain creature named Discord, who just witnessed the Yami Game for himself. However, Discord wasn't jealous, oh no. He was currently pondering what he was going to do with this human. He was certainly interesting, how he has two sides to himself, The Yami Game, even how Yami Tyler used the Yami Game to his advantage to teach Diamond a lesson. This human was certainly intere- "Excuse me narrator, I am trying to think. Could you please end the chapter sooner so you can start working on the next chapter already?" Well I'd never. Fine, just a little bit longer Discord.
"Very well then." Discord said, rolling his eye's as he was eating a tree branch that he had turned into chocolate and the leafs into cotton candy. However, Discord was the least of Tyler's worries. As Tyler was enjoying his time creating the funds to host the Duelist tournament, a certain Centaur had just escaped the depths of Tartarus, currently making its way to Equestria, plotting a revenge that will surly change. Now that Tyler lives in Equestria.
