Daniel Murphy is a fairly typical Texan conservative - militant, xenophobic, and fanatically religious. When he is miraculously saved from an untimely death, he finds himself in a world that opposes everything he's ever believed in. Forbidden from returning home until he unlearns his old beliefs, he turns to this journal, in which he records the events of his life in the place he calls "hell."
