Twilight's New Dragon

Twilight placed the last object in her saddle bags. She closed them up and used her magic to put them on her back. She walked over and made sure she had everything on her list. She smiled as she rolled it up and put it in her saddle bags. Spike sat on the couch watching her with Axew next to him. Twilight used her magic to set Axew on her back and turned to Spike.

"Spike, I'm going out to train for a while. Your in charge of Jake's Pokemon and the library. If Jake comes home and I'm not around, tell him I'm out and will be back later. Think you can handle it here." Said Twilight

"Twilight, I got this, plus I have your list to help me." Said Spike

"Good, I hope you have a good day. Now let's go train Axew." Said Twilight

"Ax, Axew."

Twilight walked to the door and using her magic open it and close it. She then proceeded to head towards her training ground. It was a forest that boarded the Everfree Forest. It had plenty of trees for Axew to practice his attacks. She started training after Jake returned with Applejack when they went to Appleloosa, but after Jake had needed up in a coma, she wanted to make sure she was ready to take his place. She wanted to ensure she was ready if Jake couldn't get to her. Plus she wanted to take some pressure off of Jake and help out with battling Team Catastrophe. So to do that was to train her Axew to his top form. She also had to evolve her Axew, and she knew only from training could that happen. So after coming back to Ponyville from Griffonstone and Zeco, she began to train Axew when Jake was at work.

Twilight waved to the ponies that were in the marketplace. The ponies of Ponyville were now completely comfortable with Pokemon and didn't fear Jake or Pokemon. So it allowed Twilight to walk freely with Axew on her back as Jake walked freely with his Pokemon to school. But a few ponies still believed Jake to be a threat and Pokemon to be nothing more than weapons. But that was common for anything that occurred in Equestria. There would be ponies who accepted life and those who didn't.

She made her way out of the marketplace and out of Ponyville to the meadow that sat outside the town. She walked across the field until she found her training woods. She entered the clearing Axew made with his Dragon Rage move. She used her magic to place Axew down and then her saddle bags. She opened them and put on her Aura Reader. She activated it and looked at Axew.

"Alright Axew, let's train super hard today." Said Twilight

"Axew."

"So let's begin with a few old moves, nothing like making sure we aren't rusty in any ability." Said Twilight

"Axew."

"Let's first us, Dragon Rage." Said Twilight

Axew nodded his head and turned towards a tree. He closed his mouth as a blue energy formed in his stomach. Then he opened his mouth and out came a massive blast of energy. It shattered the tree to pieces.

"Great work Axew. Alright next up is Dragon Claw." Said Twilight

Axew ran towards another dead looking tree, and his claws became large green ones, and he leaped into the air and struck the tree. He landed behind the tree, and it split into chunks. Twilight cheered as Axew walked back to her. Axew's moves are grower stronger with each passing day. I'm not sure if it's time yet, but maybe Axew will evolve to his second form. It would great if Axew would take to his second form.

"Axew those two moves are looking even better. I bet everything on it that you're close to evolving." Said Twilight

"Ax, Axew."

"But let's not stop training now, let's work on a new move." Twilight used her magic to bring over some of the pieces of the tree that Axew cut apart from his Dragon Claw. "Axew I'm going to toss these up in the air, and I want you to hit them with Dragon Pulse."

"Axew."

Twilight took one of the pieces and tossed it up in the air for Axew. Axew charged a turquoise sphere of energy outside of his mouth before launching it at the piece of wood. The attack hit and destroyed the chunk of timber. Twilight pumped her hoof in the air before sending up a few more for Axew to hit. Each of which Axew hit and obliterated. Twilight bounced around happily and rubbed Axew's head.

While Twilight and Axew were training, a creature walked the forest. It was an animal not native to the woods. It was a Pokemon known as Deino. The Dark and Dragon Type Pokemon wandered aimlessly in the forest. With it being blind it bumped into things and also bit anything it could get its mouth around. It tried desperately to figure out where it was. Its stomach growled as it showed a need for hunger.

"De, Deino."

It kept around walking bumping and biting things until it stopped when it heard an explosion not far from where it was standing. It wasn't sure what it came from but knew it could be better than wandering around hungry. It decided to walk towards the sounds. Soon it reached a large open area. It just turned its head and tried to figure our if anything was in the open area. It walked out hoping that something was here.

Twilight patted Axew's head after yet another perfect hit from his Dragon Pulse.

"Perfect Axew, it seems we have that attack down well. I think it's time we take a break and eat." Said Twilight

"Axew."

Twilight walked back to her saddlebags and saw a Pokemon wondering around the open area not far from where she was standing. A Pokemon, in these woods. But how is that possible. Axew walked forward to look at the wondering Pokemon. She could see the Pokemon was having a hard time locating anything at all. It seemed to hit things like a tree or bite a random plant. Twilight opened her saddlebags and pulled out her Pokedex. She activated it and pointed it at the new Pokemon.

"Deino the Irate Pokemon. They cannot see, so they tackle and bite to learn about their surroundings. Their bodies are covered in wounds."

"So that's why it was acting like that. It can't see a thing." Said Twilight

She watched as the Deino bit a plant and began to pull it from the ground. She watched as the Pokemon ate it. I bet it's hungry. Twilight got into her saddlebags once again and pulled out a bowl. She pulled out a bag of Pokemon food. She had taken plenty with her today. And my friends say it's stupid to pack extra. She finished filling the bowl and called out to the Pokemon.

"Here Deino, come here." Said Twilight

The Deino heard Twilight's voice and turned around to the sound. It wasn't quite sure where the sound was coming from, but it had a clue. It began to walk towards the sound of Twilight's voice.

"That's right, just keep coming this way. I got some Pokemon food for you." Said Twilight

The Deino walked a little more until it felt something touch its head. Twilight placed out her hoof to stop the Pokemon from walking any further. On instinct, Deino opened its mouth and took a bite of Twilight's hoof. Twilight gritted her teeth together and closed her mouth as not to scare the Dark and Dragon Type Pokemon away. She just held her screams back with all her might. Finally, the Deino let go, and Twilight sighed that the pain was gone. She looked to see the Pokemon didn't bite down to hard.

"Well, I should have realized you would bite down on my hoof. Well, here you are." Twilight placed the food in front of the Deino. "Go ahead, eat up. I have plenty more in my saddlebags."

The Deino bent its head down and found a bowl of Pokemon food. It took a bite of the first piece and chewed it before going back in and eating more of the Pokemon food.

"I see we were hungry, which remind me. I should feed you as well, Axew." Said Twilight

"Axew."

Twilight pulled out another bowl and poured Pokemon food into it for Axew. She turned to see the Deino had finished all of its food. Twilight walked over and poured more into the bowl. The Deino got back down to the bowl and began to eat again. Twilight sat down and pulled a daisy and daffodil sandwich and started to eat it. She looked around still trying to figure out how the Deino got in the woods. I wonder if it escaped Team Catastrophe like the Wurmple and Beautifly that live in the orchards of Appleloosa. Twilight just looked at the Pokemon as she at her food. Her Axew next to her eating away. She saw the Deino once again finish the bowl of food. It tapped the bowl with its head.

"Deino."

"I supposed that means you want more. Well, I got plenty more." Said Twilight

She levitated a bag of food and poured another full bowl. The Deino happily gorged itself on the Pokemon food. She smiled as she watched Dark and Dragon Type Pokemon eat away. Hm, what should I do. I wonder if I can catch it and make a partner. But how do I even do that? Jake never explained to me the process of catching a wild Pokemon. Twilight kept wondering the idea until something caught her ears, something was moving towards them. She turned her head to look around. Axew and Deino also stopped eating as they also felt something was off. Twilight got up and looked around. Something's here with us.

Twilight scanned the forest, and finally, she saw smoke coming out of the trees. But it wasn't white smoke, it was gray, which meant only one thing. Team Catastrophe. The smoke took the figure of a human as it always did. Twilight took her battle stance, even though magic couldn't do a thing to them. Great cornered again by a Team Catastrophe member. Well, at least this time I got Axew to protect me.

"What do we have here, a little pony princess all alone." Said the Team Catastrophe member

"Team Catastrophe, what are you doing here?" Asked Twilight

"I'm glad you asked, you see a few days ago our factory where we shadow Pokemon went up in flames. Our captive Pokemon got out thanks to the Liberation Core. So I've been on the hunt for those Pokemon." Said the Team Catastrophe

"So, let me guess. This Deino is one of the Pokemon that escaped your factory." Said Twilight

"That's right, now if you could hand it over to me and I'll be on my way." Said the Team Catastrophe member

"As if, I would let you hurt this innocent Pokemon. So if you to take this Deino, you'll have to beat me." Said Twilight

"If that's how you want to play, I can play your game." He pulled a Poke Ball from behind him. "When I defeat you, little pony princess, I'll take both that Deino and that Axew."

"In your dreams." Said Twilight

"Then let's see if you can beat me." Said the Team Catastrophe member

"Let's." Said Twilight

"Let's battle!" They both said

"Axew show this Team Catastrophe member how a princess battles." Said Twilight

"Axew."

Axew walked forward, and the Team Catastrophe member smiled.

"If that's all you got against me then this battle won't last long. Let me introduce you to my friend, Porygon-Z." Said the Team Catastrophe

The Team Catastrophe tossed up the Poke Ball and out came his Pokemon. Twilight used her magic to pull over her Pokedex and activated it. She wanted to get the scope on her opponents Pokemon.

"Porygon-Z the Virtual Pokemon and the evolved form of Porygon2. Additional software was installed to make it a better Pokémon. It began acting oddly, however."

Alright, so that's the evolution of Porygon2, which is the evolution of Porygon. So it's a Normal Type Pokemon. But I'm going to have to be on my toes since his Porygon evolved twice. Twilight took her stance and activated her Aura Reader and decided to give the first attack.

"Axew let's start out with Dragon Rage." Said Twilight

Axew closed its mouth, and a blue sphere appeared in his stomach before moving up to Axew's mouth. Once there, he released the blue energy attack straight at Porygon-Z.

"Agility." Said the Team Catastrophe member

Porygon-Z disappeared right as the attack was about to hit. Twilight blinked her eyes in shock. Suddenly, Porygon-Z flashed all over the map. Twilight watched as Porygon-Z's speed went up. Ok, this might be harder than I thought. Twilight turned back to the Deino behind her. But I can't let that speed get to me. No, I have to stay focused. If I don't that Team Catastrophe member will take this poor Pokemon back and make it into a Shadow Pokemon. I can't let that happen. I'm a princess, and as a princess, it is my duty to protect those in need, even if I don't have a clue about what princess I am.

"If you think speed is going to stop me from hitting your Pokemon, you're dead wrong. Axew let's show him some of our training. Dragon Pulse, but don't let go until I say so." Said Twilight

"Axew."

Axew began to charge a turquoise sphere and waited for Twilight to give him his order to fire. Twilight watched Porygon-Z as it wiped around the map. She stuck out her tongue as she studied its movements. She smiled when she had where it would pop up next.

"Axew fire at the tree just left of you." Said Twilight

Axew released the sphere and right on target, it hit Porygon-Z, sending it to the ground. The Team Catastrophe member couldn't believe his eyes as his Porygon-Z hit the ground.

"How?" Asked the Team Catastrophe member

"When you have a friend with a need for speed like I do, you learn to pick up on things when watching said friend fly as fast as she can." Said Twilight

"Interesting, but that won't stop me from winning." Said the Team Catastrophe

"We'll see about that. Axew, give him a taste of your Dragon Claw." Said Twilight

Axew ran forward, and large green claws appeared as Porygon-Z got itself back together.

"Porygon-Z, show this pony what you can do, Ice Beam. Freeze that worthless dragon." Said the Team Catastrophe member

Porygon-Z detached its arms and began to spin them around. The area in front of its body began to grow cold. Then before Axew could attack, a beam of ice was shot right at Axew. It landed a critical blow and sent Axew back and tumbling into the ground. Axew stopped just short of Twilight with half of his health taken away.

No. Twilight looked at Porygon-Z as it floated around. She bit her lip as she looked down at Axew and the Deino behind her. She saw Axew get up and looked back at her. Twilight could see the determination in his eyes. Even though he took an Ice Beam, a move that he's weak against, he still wants to fight. Yeah, I can't give up just because that Team Catastrophe member's Porygon-Z has a move that can defeat Axew easily. Yeah, I have to fight just like Jake would. He would find a way to fight, reckoning he would use Mienfoo to beat that Porygon-Z, but I'll have to do with what I got. And what I got is my determination and Axew.

"If you think an Ice Beam is going to scare us, then you're wasting your time. Axew and I won't let that push us aside. Axew, Dragon Rage." Said Twilight

Axew charged the attack before letting out the blast of blue energy.

"Ice Beam." Said the Team Catastrophe member

The Porygon-Z charged its Ice Beam and let it rip. Both attacks collided and started to push against each other. Twilight bit her lip as she watched Axew pour more power into his attack to push it against Porygon-Z's Ice Beam. The Team Catastrophe member stood firm as he watched his Porygon-Z push Axew's attack back. Twilight started to bit her lip more as Axew's Dragon Rage wasn't doing a thing. Axew struggled with all his might, but he wasn't strong enough, and Porygon-Z's attack landed and dealt massive damage to Axew. When the smoke cleared from the attack, Axew was lying on the ground with barely any health left and struggled to get up.

"AXEW!" Said Twilight

She ran over and looked at her Pokemon. She then heard laughing coming from the Team Catastrophe member.

"You see, I knew you were too weak. I should have just taken that Deino and Axew from you, but I wanted to entertain your idea of a fight. But it looks like it was a waste of my time and my Pokemon's power. Face it, princess, you're nothing like that human or Princess Celestia. I'll bet you'll never be like them that at all." Said the Team Catastrophe member

Is he right, am I too weak. I don't know what to do anymore. Axew can't fight, and I don't have any backup Pokemon. Twilight closed her eyes trying to fight back her tears. He's right, I am weak. I'm not ever going to be like Jake, no matter how hard a train. I'll never reach the levels of my former teacher. I don't even know why I was even chosen to be a princess. I'm a failure at both being a princess and a Pokemon trainer.

Twilight felt tears run down her face and then something rubbing her muzzle. She opened her eyes and saw the Deino rubbing his head on her face to dry up her tears.

"De, Dei, Deino."

She then saw Axew do the same with his claws.

"Axew, ew, ew."

"You both don't think I'm a failure." Said Twilight

They both nodded at her.

"Even though I can't protect you both." Said Twilight

"Axew, Ax, Axew."

"Deino, De, Deino."

They went back to rubbing Twilight's tears away. I may not understand what they are telling me, but I get the picture. They don't want me to give up. Yeah, I can't give up. Every time I've had a chance to give up, I've always pulled through. So I can't give up now, I have a duty to uphold. That duty is to protect Pokemon and ponies from the forces of evil as a princess, a bearer of the Elements of Harmony and as a Pokemon trainer.

Twilight hugged both her Pokemon.

"Thank you, both for opening my eyes. I needed to see that I can't give up as long as I have friends that need help. And you two are my friends." Said Twilight

"If the soap opera is over with, I think it's time to end this battle once and for all." Said the Team Catastrophe

Twilight got up and wiped the last of the tears from her face. "You're right. It's time to end this once and for all."

"Axew."

"Deino."

"Alright Axew, you still want to fight this battle." Said Twilight

"Axew."

Twilight and bent down and rubbed Axew's head. "Thank you for being so strong and kind, Axew."

Just then a light engulfed Axew. Twilight backed up with Deino. Axew's evolving.

"What, he's evolving because of some love and care." Said the Team Catastrophe

Axew's body grew out, and his body showed much more muscle mass. His tusks expanded out and looked even sharper. Then the light exploded off revealing Axew's new form.

"Fraxure!"

Twilight used her horn to bring over her Pokedex and point it at her evolved Axew.

"Fraxure the Axe Jaw Pokemon and the evolved form of Axew. Their tusks can shatter rocks. Territory battles between Fraxure can be intensely violent."

"Amazing Fraxure, you evolved." Said Twilight

"Deino."

"Frax, Fraxure."

"Who cares, I'll still wipe the floor with you." Said the Team Catastrophe

He has a point, but I can't let negativity get in the way. No, this fight is mine. Twilight looked through Fraxure's move list and found a move she never saw before. Hm, Giga Impact, perfect. Twilight pointed her hoof at Porygon-Z

"Fraxure I think it's time we send this Team Catastrophe member back from which he came. Finish this fight with Giga Impact!" Said Twilight

Fraxure roared as an invisible energy started to surround him. He looked at Porygon-Z as a bright flash of light appeared over Fraxure's face. He then shot himself at Porygon-Z. Twilight couldn't believe the speed Fraxure was running out and as Fraxure ran purple and yellow streaks began to spin around his body covering him completely in the attack. Fraxure leaped into the air, and before the Team Catastrophe member could give his order, Fraxure landed his attack. A tremendous explosion followed by Fraxure landing right next to Twilight breathing heavily. They all waited for the smoke to clear and when it finally passed, Porygon-Z was lying on the ground with spirals in its eyes. Twilight smiled and jumped into the air.

"We won!" Said Twilight

"Fraxure!"

"Deino!"

Fraxure ran up and hugged Twilight as she returned it. Fraxure let her go, and she began to pet Deino on the head. The Team Catastrophe member returned his Pokemon and looked at the alicorn princess. Twilight looked up after laughing to see the Team Catastrophe member was gone. She sighed that it was all over.

"Well, I think it's time we go home. Hopefully Jake can help me out with you, Deino." Said Twilight

"Deino."

"I guess you'll also have to start walking, Fraxure. I don't think I can carry you on my back anymore." Said Twilight

"Fraxure."

"Well, let's go home. I think I could use the comfort of a calm library right about now." Said Twilight

Both Pokemon nodded, and Twilight used her magic to attach her saddle bags. Once they were tight, she proceeded out of the forest with Fraxure and Deino behind her. For my first battle with Team Catastrophe, I wasn't half bad. She smiled as she walked back to her home to tell Jake everything.

But before Twilight decided to go to the library, she stopping by Fluttershy's to get both Fraxure and Deino checked out. Fluttershy was amazed by the look of Fraxure. She told Twilight she was happy to see that Axew evolved. Twilight told her she was happy as well. She also told Fluttershy about her battle with Team Catastrophe and how she thought she lost, but in the end won with the help of her Pokemon to motivate her forward. Fluttershy smiled as she and Audino finished their check-ups of Twilight's Pokemon. She also told Twilight that Deino was a male. Twilight thanked Fluttershy for her help and headed back to the library.

Once she got there, she found Jake sitting on the couch doing work with Espurr and Kirlia enjoying some Pokemon food. When Jake saw Fraxure and Deino, he immediately turned to Twilight. She began to tell him her whole tale about everything that had transpired while he was at school.

"Interesting story Twilight, I'm glad you were able to win." Said Jake

"Yes, and it wouldn't have been possible without these two next to me." Said Twilight

"I'll say, and I'm proud to see your Axew evolved into Fraxure. Just one more evolution until he reaches Haxorus. I'll say, you have a strong bond with Fraxure, and because of that bond, he was able to evolve. But I also see that this Deino also seems to have bonded with you. I think the aspect that both Axew and you were putting your lives on the line to protect him, allowed him to form a bond with you." Said Jake

"So Jake, about that. You never said what trainers do when they encounter wild Pokemon. Because it seems that there might be wild Pokemon in Eques now." Said Twilight

"Yeah, Celestia sent over a scroll detailing that Team Catastrophe's major Shadow Factory was attacked by some group of freedom ponies called the Liberation Core. She believes that the wild Pokemon that once were in the factory are now free and roaming Eques, though it seems the facility was here in Equestria, so most of the wild Pokemon should be traveling Equestria. And with your battle today with the Team Catastrophe member, it shows that they are hunting down the wild Pokemon. Hm, this life sure gets interesting with each passing day." Said Jake

"So does Celestia want us to round them up?" Asked Twilight

"No, she just wants us to be on the look out for them. If we do find any wild Pokemon, we are to protect them from Team Catastrophe and find them a place to live and stay safe. I'm going to talk with Applejack tomorrow to see if we could turn some of her property into a sanctuary for wild Pokemon that need a safe place to stay. Sure it might cut into her crop, but I believe it will be worth it in the long-run." Said Jake

"Glad to hear, but now back to my question." Said Twilight

"Oh right, I guess I didn't explain that yet." Jake blushed as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, usually when a trainer encounters a wild Pokemon, they would battle it and then capture it. But on the other hand, if the Pokemon forms a tight bond with the trainer and wishes to go peacefully, then all you need to do is present a Poke Ball, and the Pokemon should enter it on its own."

"Great, but I don't have a spare Poke Ball." Said Twilight

"No worries, I got you covered Twilight." Jake got up and went upstairs. After a minute, he came down with a Poke Ball. He tossed it over to Twilight, and she caught it in her magic. "There you are Twilight. so go ahead, catch your first Pokemon."

"Thanks, Jake," Twilight turned herself to face Deino. "Deino, I would love it if you would join Fraxure and me on our team. I promise to take good care of you and train you to your fullest potential. So one day you'll evolve into your final evolution."

Twilight held out the Poke Ball in her hoof. The Deino smiled before hitting it with his head. The Poke Ball opened up, and Deino turned into a red beam. The Poke Ball clamped down, and Twilight held it in her hooves. She watched as the red dot in the center go on and off. She bit her lip until it stopped and popped. Twilight smiled as she saw Deino was going to stay with her. She couldn't hold it in and exploded in happiness.

"I caught my first Pokemon!" Said Twilight

"Frax, Fraxure!"

"Great job Twilight." Said Jake

"Kir, Kirlia."

"Es, Espurr."

Spike then came down the stairs rubbing his eyes to get the sleep out of them.

"What's with all the excitement?" Asked Spike

"Come down here Spike and meet my new Pokemon." Said Twilight

Spike came down the stairs and yawned as she stood next to Twilight. He looked up at the Fraxure standing next to Twilight

"That new Pokemon," said Spike pointing to Fraxure.

"No that's Fraxure, the evolved form of Axew." Said Twilight

"Oh, well where's this new Pokemon?" Asked Spike

"I'll show you," she tossed up the Poke Ball. "Come on out, Deino."

The Poke Ball opened up to reveal Deino to Spike.

"Deino."

"Spike this is Deino, my new Pokemon partner." Said Twilight

"Huh, interesting now I'm going back to my nap." Said Spike

Spike turned around but screamed and looked back to see Deino clamped down on his tail.

"Well, I think he likes you, Spike." Said Jake

"I couldn't agree more." Twilight walked up and stroked Deino's head. He let go Spike's tail and rubbed his head on Twilight's muzzle. "Welcome to the team Deino."

"De, Deino."

Yes, I found time once again to write this story. It's a happy day for me. I'm also glad to say I've reached 100 followers. Of course, I already mentioned that in a blog post, but hey, might as well stick it here as well. So I don't have much to say expect hooray for Twilight evolving Axew to Fraxure and getting herself a Deino. So I am going to put this out, each of the mane six will each have three Pokemon to call their own. But I won't spoil who they get to their teams. So just wanted to get that out so you all can guess what Pokemon they will have. Now wish I could stay and chat some more here, but school calls me to it. So I hope you enjoy this chapter and stay patient until the next update. I can only get these updates out whenever school isn't shoving its hand down my throat, but hey, that's college.
