Fight or Flight

Jake and the mane six happily sat outside in the crisp summer air. It was a perfect day for a picnic and to let all the Pokemon roam free and play with each other. It also gave Deino, Twilight's newest partner, a chance to meet the others. It had already been a week since Twilight started to train Deino. She could already tell Deino was going to be a powerful Pokemon for her team. The girls were also happy to see Axew had evolved into Fraxure and that Twilight had a new partner. They all started to wonder if they would get new Pokemon partners. Jake said anything was possible with wild Pokemon now roaming Equestria.

Jake also in that time had started to keep a journal of all the Pokemon he and his friends owned. He had, Eevee, Mareep, Kirlia, Espurr, Zorua, Cyndaquil, Braixen, Mienfoo, and Buneary. He also recorded the other's Pokemon. Twilight had both Fraxure and Deino. Rarity had Parchirisu. Fluttershy had Audino and Rainbow had Starly. Then finally Applejack had Growlithe, and Pinkie had Spinarak. Jake felt more at ease with this journal as it allowed him to see who had what. Jake also decided to do it because he knew that his team as with his friends' Pokemon teams would grow out and become larger. He thought it might be difficult to remember so many Pokemon and who their partner was.

So our story picks up with the group enjoying the rays of Celestia's sun. The Pokemon were running around playing, napping or just talking among themselves. The groups were Eevee, Zorua, Parchirisu, and Growlithe were running around with each other. Espurr just watched them with her thousand yard stare. Buneary was hopping around picking flowers and looking at them. Fraxure was sitting just watching the other Pokemon as Deino slept next to him. Cyndaquil and Braixen were practicing their fire moves together. Mareep napped away in the sun with Applejack leaning up against her with her hat covering her face. Audino and Fluttershy were practicing trying to achieve Mega Evolution. Rainbow slept on a cloud with Starly sleeping on her back. Pinkie was doing a puzzle with Rarity as Spinarak slept in Pinkie's mane. Jake and Twilight sat next to each other, Twilight with her head in a book and Jake doing some training with Mienfoo. Kirlia slept snuggled in Jake's chest.

"Alright Mienfoo, now let's try something new." Just scrolled through Mienfoo's attacks with his Aura Reader. "Alright let's see a Focus Blast."

Mienfoo nodded her head and started to charge and fire a Focus Blast at a wall of magic Twilight created for Mienfoo.

"What would drive Mienfoo to want to practice fighting when were here to relax and play." Said Twilight

"To Mienfoo training is relaxation." Said Jake

"Mien, Mienfoo."

"See." Said Jake

"If you say so." Twilight back to her book, but looked back at Jake. "Jake I have a question for you."

"Yeah, Twilight." Said Jake

"Deino, in the time I've had him. I don't think I ever asked you the evolution line." Said Twilight

"Yeah, I am surprised you didn't ask right away. But I think now is the best time to talk about Deino. You see Deino has two evolutions they go through. First, Deino will evolve into Zweilous, a two-headed dragon. Then from Zweilous, it evolves into its final form, Hydreigon, a three-headed dragon, with two heads being its arms. Now Twilight I want to bring this up, Deino's evolution line is often hard to control, especially Hydreigon. So just know you're up for an uphill battle once Deino evolves into Zweilous." Said Jake

"Hm, you mean my loving Deino is going to get harder to control once it evolves into his second form." Said Twilight

"More than that, Hydregion is a hard Pokemon to keep under control. But I know with your talents and skills you'll have your Hydregion well trained." Said Jake

Twilight blushed and pushed a few strands of mane back behind her ears. "Thanks for the compliment Jake."

"You're welcome." Said Jake

Twilight looked at his broad smile and turned away as she felt her her face growing more flush. Keep calm Twilight, stay calm. Twilight sighed as she went back to her book. Finally, Mienfoo walked over, and Jake gave her a water bottle. She took it and began to drink the water inside.

"I guess your done training for the day." Said Jake

"Mienfoo."

"Glad to hear, now why not take a rest." said Jake

Mienofoo sat down and just drank the water as Jake stroked Kirlia's hair. Jake reached behind him and grabbed a large book and opened it up where the pen kept his spot. He began to read the questions and answer them. Twilight looked over and cocked her head at such a strange looking book.

"What are you doing, Jake?" Asked Twilight

"Oh well, to continue teaching here, I need my teaching license. Mayor Mare came by school two days ago and told me that in three weeks the test would be held here in Ponyville. So I bought this book from that local bookstore and had been doing questions from it. I have to be prepared for the test if I want to official teach here in Ponyville." Said Jake

"Hm, mind if I test you." Said Twilight

"Not a bad idea, I could use the practice than just reading a question over and over." Twilight took the book in her magic. "Go back to chapter one and quiz me on the questions."

"Alright." She flipped to the first chapter and spotted a problem. "Before the age of Celestia and Luna, how was Equestria divided."

"Equestria was divided into three sections. They were the unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies." Said Jake

"Ok, hm, after the land of Equestria was founded by the gathering of the three races. Who were the first rulers of Equestria." Said Twilight

"King Stone Sword and Queen Fire Stone." Said Jake

"Perfect, let's see if I can find something harder. Oh, in the fifteenth year of the King and Queen. What major event transpired in this time frame." Said Twilight

"The great Changeling war that caused the death of King Stone Sword and the deaths of over 50,000 thousand soldiers." Said Jake

"That's right. Let's see what chapter two holds." Twilight flipped to the next chapter. "Magic, my favorite subject. Now let me see what can I give you. Oh, explain the process by which unicorns can use magic."

"Unicorns have a natural pool of magic inside their bodies. They pull from this pool the needed amount of energy into their horns. The horn acts as a conductor to active the of magical energy and thus can create one of their spells. A unicorn can only use magic up to the point in which they run out of it in their bodies. Unicorns natural pull magic from the land around them to restore the magic depleted in spells. It just takes time for a unicorn to have a full pool of magic again." Said Jake

"Well, I would have gone into greater detail about how the horn can turn the magic in our bodies into the magic you see, but that's me. Great work Jake, now let's what else I can quiz you on that contains magic." She flipped a few pages and landed on something Jake clearly was struggling grasping. She giggled as she knew the answer right off the back. "Ok, The Horn is an old scientific study by Star Swirl the Bearded on the topic of unicorn horns. Recap the three top conclusions of Star Swirl's research in the passage given."

"Ok, let me think. Star Swirl discovered that, um, oh I should know this. Come on brain think." Jake gave a sigh of defeat after ten seconds. "I give up."

"Well, it is a tough question. Even in here you don't have the right answers. They even give you the whole section. But then again, you're not from this planet, so stuff like Star Swirl's writing can be confusing. He never wrote straight what his answers were. He liked to hide them in mystery for those smart enough to figure them out. But the answer is the Magic Pool that sits in our horns, the aura glow, which converts the natural magic into a physical force, and a horns fragile nature." Said Twilight

"Fragile, they don't look weak." Said Jake

"Well, Jake a unicorn's horn is cartilage. You see if you dug up a unicorn's skeleton, you would see that none of the skulls have horns. That's because the horn isn't bone as most ponies think. The horn is cartilage infused with magic which allows us to perform our spells. Now with enough strength, you could break the horn of a unicorn right off, and even though it is cartilage, it won't grow back. Unicorns only have one horn for their entire life. But if you break a horn it won't do you any good because the inner workings of the horn won't work because the horn no longer has a connection to magic." Said Twilight

"Interesting." said Jake

Jake reached out his left hand and started to rub Twilight's horn. The second he began to move it up and down, Twilight began to blush. Jake's touching my horn, he's touching my horn! Twilight kept her mouth closed as Jake explored her horn, but she couldn't take it and let out a moan of pleasure. The second she did, she covered her mouth with her hooves and Jake retracted his hand. He started to form a blush across his cheeks as he looked at Twilight and she looked at him. They both turned themselves away from each other. After they both had calmed down, they looked at each other again.

"Sorry about that Twilight, I didn't know rubbing your horn like that would cause you to moan." Said Jake

"No, it's my fault. I should have warned that the horn of a unicorn is an erogenous zone." Said Twilight

"That might have been a good idea, but you were right about it not being bone. It doesn't feel like it is bone." Said Jake

"Well, I'm glad you realized that." Said Twilight

The two looked away from each other. Jake was rubbing his neck, and Twilight was rubbing her hoof.

"Twilight, can we forget that this ever happened." Said Jake

"Oh, yeah I sure can. I don't want to be awkward with you. Yeah, let's just forget everything." Said Twilight

"Glad to hear." Said Jake

The two shook hand and hoof and went back to relaxing. Jake picked up his book and went to the chapter he was already working on before Twilight quizzed him. But Twilight couldn't get her mind off the fact that her crush rubbed his hand up and down her horn. She also couldn't get the feeling she felt when he rubbed his hand across it. She desperately wanted Jake to run his hand across it again so she could feel that feeling once again. Because a unicorn couldn't stimulate her horn, it only became erogenous when somepony else rubbed it. Oh Jake, I wish I could tell you how I feel. But I'm still unsure if you would even want a pony as your lover. Twilight let out a small sigh and went back to her book, but every so often would look up at Jake and looked at his face as the gears of his mind worked on a problem in the book.

After a while, Jake closed up his book and yawned. He leaned back and stretched out, but still courteous to Kirlia. Mienfoo was already asleep next to him. He started to close his eyes, but they didn't stay closed for long because somepony was breathing in his ear. He moved his head to the left and found Discord.

"I should have known." Said Jake

He got up, and as he did, he woke Kirlia up. He rubbed her head as she started to rub the sleep out of her eyes. Discord floated up and sat down.

"So what do you want, Discord?" Asked Jake

Discord handed Jake an envelope. He took it and looked to see it was a plain envelope. Twilight had closed up her book when she Discord, knowing nothing good comes from Discord. Twilight stood next to Jake as he opened the envelope. Jake reached in and pulled out seven tickets.

"Tickets." Said Twilight

"Read what they are too." Said Discord

Jake pulled one out and read it aloud. "Welcome to the show stopping and spectacular show of the Wonderbolts."

"Wonderbolts!" Said Rainbow

Jake was pushed back as Rainbow was suddenly in his face with Starly flapping down and landing on Rainbow's head. Twilight used her magic to pull Rainbow back.

"Yeah, that's what the ticket says, I suppose that's what they all say." Jake paused as he looked over the ticket. "These also seem to be box sets for their show today at two o'clock."

"Box seats, those are impossible to get. How did you get a ticket for them." Said Rainbow

Twilight the took the envelope and looked at the rest of the tickets. "They're all for the box seats."

"Ok, Discord what's your game?" Asked Jake

"Game, why would I pull a game against you, Jake. I spent my personal funds to get those tickets." Said Discord

"Then why is there a note here for Jake with Spitfire's signature on it," said Twilight pull out a folded piece of paper.

Jake took the note and opened it and read it aloud. "Dear Jake, my name is General Spitfire, leader of the Wonderbolts. I heard that you have never seen one of our shows since your time here on Equestria. So I would like to invite you, your Pokemon and your friends to see our show today. But there is one condition attached to the tickets you will receive. I hear you are a top notch Pokemon trainer and are battling back against Team Catastrophe. Well, I would like to see how robust those skills are. So to keep your tickets, if you do come, you must battle me in a one-on-one battle. Discord has informed me of the Pokemon in your possession, and I wish to take on your Espurr. If you comply with this agreement, meet me in the Wonderbolts locker room. You should have a pass to do so also in the envelope. Hope to see you at our show and hope for that battle. Signed, General Spitfire."

"Wait, Spitfire has a Pokemon and is challenging you to a Pokemon battle if you use these tickets." Said Twilight

"Looks like it and she already chose the Pokemon she wishes for me to use." Said Jake

"Who cares, we get to see the Wonderbolts in the best seats of the Wonderbolts' Stadium. We can't accept her offer and not go." Said Rainbow

"Rainbow, if you weren't paying attention to Jake. The tickets are only usable if Jake doesn't accept to battle Spitfire. So altogether it's Jake's choice if we go." Said Twilight

"I see no reason why we shouldn't go. It would be fun to see the Wonderbolts. But I don't understand how Spitfire has a Pokemon." Said Jake

"No worries, that's why I'm here." Said Discord

"Ok, Discord, explain away." Said Jake

"You see before you came Jake. Celestia wanted a way to fight back against Team Catastrophe. So she chose a select few to take Pokemon and train them. Spitfire happened to be one of those ponies, because of being a General in the Wonderbolts." Said Discord

"I guess that would explain why Celestia had a team of Pokemon and how she gave the mane six and me Pokemon when I first met her." Said Jake

"It does help, but who else has Pokemon, Discord." Said Twilight

"Sorry, I can't give out that information because it happens to be sensitive in nature." Said Discord

"Well, I guess we'll just find out as times continues." Said Jake

"So are we going to see the Wonderbolts." Said Rainbow

"I see no reason why not." Said Jake

"Hooray!" Rainbow flipped through the air and hugged Jake. "Oh thank you, Jake."

"Hey, no problem Rainbow." Said Jake

Twilight's balloon landed on the clouds of the cloud city of Cloudsdale. The others happily jumped out of the basket. Jake, on the other hand, wasn't too sure about it all yet. Twilight could see Jake wasn't getting out of the balloon basket.

"Jake it's fine. The cloud walking spell will let you walk on the clouds like a Pegasus." Said Twilight

"But I don't understand how a city can even stand on clouds let alone me." Said Jake

"Jake darling, look at me. I'm not a Pegasus, and I'm fine on the clouds." Said Rarity

"Yeah partner, Twilight's spell works fine." Said Applejack

"Don't worry Jake, if you fall I'll just catch you." Said Rainbow

"I still don't know." Said Jake

"No worries I got this." Said Discord

Discord snapped his fingers and Jake began to float up into the air. Discord pulled one of his eagle claw fingers to himself. Jake floated out of the basket and Discord snapped his fingers again, and Jake fell, but instead of falling through the air, he was on a white puffy cloud. Jake slowly got up and got to his feet.

"There, I got him out and onto the clouds." Said Discord

"How do you feel, Jake?" Asked Twilight

"Fine, considering a second ago, I swore I would plummet to my death. Sorry for doubting your skills Twilight, but when I think of clouds, I think of water vapor." Said Jake

"No problem, you're still not used to all the things that make Equestria magical." Said Twilight

"Yeah like how a city can be built right on top of clouds." Said Jake

"So now that we got Jake out of the basket, can we go see the Wonderbolts now." Said Rainbow

"I don't see what the rush is, Rainbow. We have tickets, so we have spots to watch the show." Said Jake

"I know that, but if we get there early, the Wonderbolts might be out practicing, and I can watch them." Said Rainbow

The group looked at each other before proceeding through the clouds to the city. But Jake was having a hard time still accepting that he wouldn't fall through the clouds to his death. So Twilight walked next to him to calm his nerves. After a while, Jake found his footing in the clouds and left his nervousness behind him. They proceed into the city, and Jake took in all the sights as they walked. A few pegasi stopped and watched the group, but went about their business after a while. After a while of walking, they reached a large round arena with a large sign on it reading, 'Wonderbolts' Stadium.'

"Impressive reminds me of a race track." Said Jake

"Well, the Wonderbolts do hold races here that ponies can come and watch." Said Twilight

"So flying stunts, acrobatics, and racing, that seems like one crazy job." Said Jake

"Not mention that the Wonderbolts are a militant outfit. If Princess Celestia needed them to fight a battle or war, she could call upon them for support." Said Twilight

"Man, that's life." Said Jake

"Yeah, and because of such a life, only the best pegasi across Equestria can join. I'm still working on my flying skills so that one day I can join." Said Rainbow

"Well, since we're here and looking at the outside of a building is boring. Let's go see our seats." Said Jake

The other nodded, and they headed to the ticket collection. The group showed their tickets and a Solar Guard took them up to the box seats. The box seats were inside a room with large glass windows. It gave the best view of the whole arena. Jake had asked the guard before he left to where the Wonderbolts locker room was. The guard told Jake the instructions and left. Rainbow just pressed her face up against the window as she looked outside.

"So AWESOME!" Said Rainbow

"These are some excellent seats." Said Jake

"Reckoning to keep them you have to battle Spitfire." Said Discord

"Well knowing Jake and his skills, he'll win." Said Rarity

"I don't know if I can, Rarity. Spitfire's had her Pokemon longer than I have. Not mentioning, Espurr is the only Pokemon I'm allowed to use." Said Jake

"Partner, you'll go great." Said Applejack

"Yeah and even if you do lose, will still smile for you." Said Pinkie

"Thanks, guys, now I need to go chat with Spitfire to see when she wants to hold this battle." Said Jake

"Oh, I'll come along." Said Rainbow

"I don't think that's going to work, Rainbow." Jake pulled out a card. "Unless you got one of these Rainbow, I don't believe that you can follow."

"Right, but hey tell Spitfire I say hi." Said Rainbow

"Will do." Said Jake

Jake exited the room and following the guard's advice went to the locker room.

Two large Solar Guards watched over the doors to the locker room. Jake walked up to them. They placed their hooves in front of the door to block him.

"No one may pass through this door but members of the Wonderbolts." Said, one guard

Jake pulled out the card and showed it to both guards. They nodded their heads and lowered their hooves. Jake thanked them and entered the door. He walked around the locker room until he found a Pegasus next to a locker. The Pegasus's coat was a gold color, and the mane was an orange color with amber stripes. The eyes were an orange color as well. The cutie mark was a capital L on fire. The Pegasus closed the locker and turned to see Jake staring.

"So you must be Jake." Said the Pegasus

"And you?" Asked Jake

"Names Spitfire, General Spitfire."

"Oh so your Spitfire, and yes, I'm Jake."

The two shook hand and hoof.

"Glad to see you took my offer. I beat Rainbow went crazy when she learned about the tickets." Said Spitfire

"Yeah, she sure did. She sure loves you guys, and I'll see why today. Oh and Rainbow says hi." Said Jake

"Well, tell her hi as well. So I bet you're here to talk about our battle to fulfill the payment for the tickets." Said Spitfire

"Yeah, so when do you want to hold it." Said Jake

"Right here at Wonderbolts' Stadium at halftime. You see I've heard your impressive, and I want to see for myself. As Discord told you, I was one of the few who was chosen to train a Pokemon for the fight against Team Catastrophe. So I did just that to be ready to fight. Of course, they never attacked Cloudsdale, and by the time I got to the battle, they left. But it seems you've placed yourself as one of their top enemies with beating two of their commanders. So after hearing that, I want to see how strong you truly are." Said Spitfire

"I see, so why just one Pokemon for this battle." Said Jake

"That's all I got. Since the Wonderbolts are mostly a sports team to entertain the masses of ponies, I couldn't train more than one Pokemon. So did you bring the Pokemon I wanted to fight up against." Said Spitfire

"Yeah I did, I brought my Espurr." Said Jake

"Perfect, now the battle will be held at halftime. We usually have bands or other stuff entertain our guests, but I think a Pokemon battle between you and me should do the trick. I'll have a guard get you ready before our halftime." Said Spitfire

"Alright, sounds like a plan." Said Jake

"Glad to hear and oh, don't hold back. Give me everything you got." Said Spitfire

"Don't worry I'll be giving it my all." Said Jake

The two shook hand and hoof again, and Jake could see the spark of battle in Spitfire's eyes and Spitfire could see it in Jake's eyes.

"Well, I have to get dressed for the show today. I do hope you enjoy." Said Jake

"I'll try." Said Jake

He turned around and left the locker room. I think this is going to be an interesting battle. He went up to the chamber to watch the Wonderbolts perform their show.

Jake leaned up against a wall as he held Espurr's Poke Ball. He had enjoyed watching the show. He could see why Rainbow loved the Wonderbolts so much. After a while of watching and Rainbow explaining most of the tricks, a guard came up and got Jake. His friends wished him luck and went down to the gate to wait to enter the packed arena. He sighed as he got himself ready for the match. Then he heard the announcer start to talk to the crowd.

"Welcome ponies and lovers of the Wonderbolts. Let me hear you scream!" The crowd screamed out as told. "Perfect today we have a special halftime for all of you. For your viewing pleasure, we have for you a Pokemon battle. Let me hear you scream!" The crowd roared with excitement. "Now that's what I wanted to hear. So let's meet our contestants. First up is the new pony on the block. He comes from an entirely different world than ours. So lets here it for Equestria's one and only human, Jake the Pokemon Trainer."

Jake smiled as he walked out to the scream ponies. He waved at them. So this is what it feels like to have fans screaming your name. I think I could get used to something like this. Jake reached the place he was supposed to stand for the battle.

"His opponent is a force of nature. We all know her and lover her. So let's give a scream for the one and only, General Spitfire of the Wonderbolts." Said the announcer

Jake looked at the gate until he looked up and saw three smoke trails coming down. Had to give a flashy entrance, huh, Spitfire. The pegasi split off from Spitfire and did a few tricks with her, and they flew up, and fireworks exploded around them as they split off. Spitfire came down and landed on her spot.

"Hello, everypony!" Said Spitfire

The crowd cheered loudly for Spitfire as she waved at them all.

"I welcome you all to our halftime program. So as our announcer said, we will be having a Pokemon battle. So I do hope you enjoy it. And also make sure to scream as loud as you can for the Pokemon. Let them hear you scream." Said Spitfire

The crowd went up in an uproar once again.

"You sure can get a crowd fired up, Spitfire." Said Jake

"Comes with the job, have to make sure the crowds pleased otherwise what's the point of having a show." Said Spitfire

"Good point." Said Jake

"So here are the rules, each side can only use one Pokemon each. The battle will end when one sides Pokemon can no longer fight. So without further ado, let's see some Pokemon." Said the announcer

Spitfire took out her Poke Ball and activated it. She threw it up in the air, and it opened up.

"Come on out, Talonflame." Said Spitfire

Just as Spitfire said, the Pokemon that appeared out of the Poke Ball was a Talonflame

"Talonflame."

So her Pokemon is a Tolanflame. Well, I'm up for a fierce fight considering a Talonflame is the fully evolved form of Fletchling. Jake pulled his Pokedex to get some information on Talonflame.

"Talonflame the Scorching Pokemon and the evolved form of Fletchinder. In the fever of an exciting battle, it showers embers from the gaps between its feathers and takes to the air."

"Interesting to see you have a Talonflame. And might I add it looks well trained." Said Jake

"Thank you Jake, so why not show the crowd what my majestic bird will face." Said Spitfire

Jake pulled his Poke Ball and tossed it out. "You're up, Espurr. Let's show Spitfire what a Psychic Type can do."

The Poke Ball popped open and out came Espurr.

"Espurr."

"The battle will be between Espurr and Talonflame. So without any further delays, let's battle!" Said the announcer

Jake threw on his Aura Reader and activated it, while Spitfire twisted the lens of her goggles. So her Aura Reader is her flight goggles, now that is cool. But I need to watch it with her. Espurr has no Electric Type moves, as of yet, and Talonflame is both a Flying and Fire Type Pokemon.

"Spitfire, since this is your stadium and your fans. How about you take first move." Said Jake

"Don't mind if I do. Talonflame, Aerial Ace." Said Spitfire

Talonflame went high into the air before starting to descend towards Espurr. As it flew down, it caught speed and soon wind formed around it. Jake waited for the right moment to give his command to Espurr when he saw Talonflame make it to the ground. It started to head towards his Pokemon.

"Espurr, show Talonflame your Psyshock." Said Jake

Espurr placed her hands together and charged a dark orb before sending at Talonflame. As it went towards Talonflame, the sphere split into three different attacks and barrelled right into Talonflame.

"Barrel roll out of that attack." Talonflame broke off Aerial Ace and used the speed to barrel roll out of the assault. "Now strike with Flame Charge."

Talonflame sped towards Espurr once again and ignited on fire. It struck Espurr and flew up. Espurr slid back and shook off the attack. Damn that was clever. Hm, so it seems she might have taught Talonflame some of the tricks she knows as a Wonderbolt.

"Did you see that?" Asked Rainbow

"It sure was impressive." Said Applejack

"Spitfire used Aerial Ace to boost her Talonflame's speed so that when Espurr attacked, it allowed Talonflame to get out of the assault. Then afterward, attack Espurr again. Spitfire sure has trained Talonflame well." Said Twilight

"That's just the tip of the iceberg with Spitfire. Her Talonflame is trained using stunts that the Wonderbolts use. In turn, Jake is going to have to change his battle tactics to fight Spitfire." Said Discord

The ponies looked down at Jake.

"How are you doing, Espurr?" Asked Jake

"Es, Espurr."

"Alright then, Espurr, Calm Mind." Said Jake

Espurr closed her eyes she settled her mind. Then a flash of energy came off of Espurr. Since most of Espurr's psychic attacks are special class attacks, Calm Mind will give me a boost. But Spitfire is no common opponent, so I'm going to have to think of a different way of attaching her Talonflame. Jake stood ready as did Espurr.

"Talonflame, use Flame Charge once again." Said Spitfire

Talonflame soared towards Espurr and ignited on fire.

"Reflect." Said Jake

Espurr placed a shield around itself just as Talonflame landed the attack. But even with Reflect, Espurr was pushed back by the assault. But didn't lose as much health as the first time Flame Charge hit Espurr.

"Ok Espurr, I think it's finally time we show Spitfire what we can do. First off start with Double Team." Said Jake

Espurr began to create copies of itself, and the copies produced copies. In turn, Espurrs covered the field, and only one was the real Espurr.

"Now all of you, Psyshock." Said Jake

Each Espurr began to charge a dark sphere of energy, though they were just copying the real Espurr. Spitfire smiled as the Espurrs released the attack.

"Interesting, but no dice with me. Agility." Said Spitfire

Talonflame began to take the skies and suddenly sped up. Espurr's attack was useless as Talonflame was too fast. Jake growled as Talonflame just sped around him.

"Now, Aerial Ace." Said Spitfire

With the speed boost of Agility in play, Talonflame came quickly back to the ground and started to bash through each copy of Espurr until only one Espurr stood, the original. Spitfire smiled as she gave her next order to Talonflame.

"Agility once again." Said Spitfire

Talonflame again soared through the skies becoming that much faster. Damn, Talonflame's speed grown thanks to those two Agility boosts. Fine, if Spitfire wants to play that way, then I'll play the same way to.

"Espurr, Calm Mind." Said Jake

Espurr closed her eyes and Spitfire smirked as she had everything in play.

"Brave Bird." Said Spitfire

Talonflame soared high into the sky before using its new found speed to launch itself back down. Jake realized he played right into Spitfire's trap. Shoot! Talonflame started to collect energy around itself and dust as well. Talonflame was heading right for the ground, but before Talonflame hit, it shot itself at Espurr. As it did, the energy around it sparked, and a blue energy covered Talonflame. It sped right towards Espurr and right as Epsurr finished Calm Mind, Brave Bird struck, breaking right through Reflect and causing massive damage to Espurr. Espurr went flying back and came to a rolling stop just in front Jake. Damn! Talonflame landed in front of Spitfire as static came off of its body.

"That was so AWESOME!" Said Rainbow

"Yes, Spitfire is proving to be a skilled opponent for Jake." Said Rarity

"I'm not if sure Jake can win this one." Said Applejack

"Discord, what's with the static coming off of Talonflame." Said Twilight

"That's the after effect of Brave Bird. You see Brave Bird is a powerful move for a Flying Type Pokemon to achieve, but to fully use it comes at a cost. You see a Pokemon who completes and hits with Brave Bird will find that they must endure a recoil. But by the look of Talonflame, it seems Spitfire trained Talonflame to shrug it off like nothing." Said Discord

The ponies looked down as Jake helped Espurr to her feet.

"How are you doing girl?" He asked

"Es, Espurr."

"Glad to hear that you're ok." Jake paused as he looked at Talonflame. "I'm not sure what to do anymore, Espurr. Spitfire's Talonflame is well trained. The attacks I ordered you to use, didn't even make contact and Talonflame has hit you already three times. I'm not sure if I can even win this battle. I don't want to push you anymore after taking that Brave Bird. So tell me, do you want to continue to fight or want to give up this fight. I won't hate if you choose not to fight. So Espurr what's your choice because I don't want to push you to fight anymore if you don't want to battle."

Espurr looked at Jake and back at Talonflame and Spitfire. It looked back up at Jake and then walked back onto the battlefield. It stood ready to fight as it looked back at Jake

"Es, Espurr, Es."

"Ok then, back to the fight then." Said Jake

"Jake, you sure do have a strong bond with your Pokemon. I like that about you. I heard how you let Espurr choose whether or not to continue the fight. That shows the real bond between Pokemon and trainer. I will say this. You are a Wonderbolt in my eyes. We Wonderbolts have to look out for each other and know when one can't go on any longer. But this is still a battle, and one of us has to win, so let's continue our fight." Said Spitfire

"Thank you Spitfire, and I agree. One of us will win, and it will be Espurr and me." Said Jake

"Espurr."

"A heart of a warrior, huh, now I understand what Celestia sees in you. Ok then, let's see what you got. Give it to me Jake, give it all to me." Said Spitfire

But before Jake could give his command a glow took over Espurr. The crowd was silent as the light shined across the stadium.

"Folks what you are seeing is the evolution of Pokemon." Said the announcer

Soon the light exploded off Espurr and now stood a new Pokemon.

"Meowstic."

"Espurr you evolved into a Meowstic that's great." Said Jake

"Amazing, simply amazing, it seems your bond with Espurr allowed her to evolve." Said Spitfire

"Oh just look how cute she is. The last time we saw a Meowstic was when Quantum showed up. Oh, I hope Jake will let me look at her up close. I could make so many designs from the beauty of Espurr." Said Rarity

Jake removed his Pokedex and pointed it at Meowstic.

"Meowstic the Constraint Pokemon and evolved form of Espurr. When in danger, it raises its ears and releases enough psychic power to grind a 10-ton truck to dust."

"Alright Mewostic, you ready to show everybody what you got." Said Jake

"Meow, Meowstic."

"So let's first go with Confusion." Said Jake

Meowstic raised her ears and as she closed her eyes. When the ears reached full height, strange eyeball patterns appeared. They began to glow as psychic energy was sent straight at Talonflame. Talonflame was hit with it and shrugged it off as Meowstic lowered her ears and opened her eyes.

"Now that's power, Talonflame let's not let them get the upper hand. Aerial Ace." Said Spitfire

Talonflame flew high in the air and came down with wind forming around it. Jake watched as Talonflame missed the ground and came speeding at Meowstic. I hope this gamble works.

"Meowstic take that attack." Meowstic braced herself and took the full attack, and just as Talonflame was going up, Jake gave his order. "Grab onto Talonflame and go for a ride."

Meowstic took hold of Talonflame and went soaring into the sky.

"Confusion and don't let up." Said Jake

Meowstic hooked herself around Talonflame's neck and began to attack with Confusion.

"Get Meowstic off of you." Said Spitfire

Talonflame began to fly like crazy trying to break loose of Meowstic as Meowstic hit Talonflame with a continual barrage of Confusions. Soon the attacks were taking effect, and Jake smiled. Well, that gamble paid off.

"Meowstic jump off and use Psychic on yourself to lower yourself back to the ground." Said Jake

Meowstic let go and created a blue aura around itself and landed safely to the ground. Talonflame, on the other hand, was now just flying out of control, clearly showing it was confused.

"Now Psychic Talonflame back to the ground." Said Jake

Meowstic concentrated her power around Talonflame and wiped Talonflame down to the ground. Talonflame struck the ground and slowly got up. Jake pointed at Talonflame and gave his final order.

"Charge Beam." Said Jake

Electricity spun around the ears of Meowstic as it started to charge in the middle of her ears. Then when it was complete, Meowstic let the attack go and a beam of electricity went straight towards Talonflame.

"Talonflame, take to the air." Said Spitfire

But Talonflame was too exhausted from Meowstic's Confusion and being smashed into the ground with Psychic. So Spitfire could only watch as Meowstic's Charge Beam struck Talonflame. Charge Beam shocked Talonflame hard before Talonflame fell to the floor, unconscious and no longer able to fight. The crowd was silent until a massive cheer went out.

"That's it, folks. The battle is over. Jake and Meowstic are the winners. So let them hear you scream." Said the announcer

"Yes, we won!" Jake ran up and picked up Meowstic. "You did it, girl, you won, and you evolved."

"Meow, Meowstic."

Jake hugged her and placed her on his shoulders so they could wave to the crowd. Spitfire walked up to Talonflame as it got itself up. She stroked its head.

"It's ok boy, I know we wanted to win. But you did great. I couldn't ask for a better Pokemon partner." Said Spitfire

"Talon, Talonflame."

Jake walked up to Spitfire and outstretched a hand to her.

"Thank you, Spitfire, for the great battle." Said Jake

Spitfire took his offer. She placed her hoof in his open palm. "You bet."

The two shook as they both waved to the crowd as they continued to cheer for them both and the great Pokemon battle they all witnessed.

"Best day ever!" Said Dash

"Yeah, today was pretty great. What do you think, Meowstic?" Said Jake

"Meowstic."

"Glad to see another one of your Pokemon evolved, Jake." Said Twilight

"Thanks." Said Jake

After Jake had won the battle, he returned and showed off Mewostic. Of course, Rarity got up and personal and started to look over Meowstic. She smiled as she began to disappear into her mind of fashion. Twilight came up next while Dash was talking with Jake about the fight. Twilight wanted to get a closer look at the eye shapes that hid under Meowstic's ears. But Jake stopped her from doing it. He told her that the only way to control the immense psychic energy a Meowstic had was to keep their ears covered. Twilight felt disappointed that she couldn't get a glimpse until Meowstic moved up her ears and started to levitate things to allow Twilight a peak.

For the rest of the time, the group watched the second half, and Jake let Meowstic stay out since she deserved it and after the show had finished the group left to get to Twilight's balloon. They were nearly halfway when Jake heard his name called out to him. He turned to see Spitfire, out of uniform, come flying to him.

"Spitfire, what can I do for you?" Asked Jake

"Nothing, I came by to give you something. Jake, you proved yourself to me. Watching the way you had treated your Espurr before she evolved into a Meowstic made me think. The exact reason I wanted Discord to bring you up here is so that I could see whether or not you deserve to fight for us. I feared that you would start to turn against us and with your skill, I thought you would defeat us and rule over Equestria or even all of Eques. But through this battle, I saw your not that type of pony. You are a hero as ponies have been saying. So I wanted to give you a gift to symbolize our hopes to fight together against any foe so seeks to hurt both Pokemon and pony. Usually, I only give these out to ponies who make my team, but I guess I can make a compromise for you." Spitfire opened Jake's hand and dropped a pin in it. "This pin is the Wonderbolts team pin. Only members of the Wonderbolts are permitted to have one. So Jake welcome to the Wonderbolts. Now I wish I could stay, but I got things to do." Spitfire took to the air but looked back down at Jake. "Never be afraid to call me in, Jake. I'm ready to fight along side you the second you need help."

Spitfire took off back to the city as Jake waved goodbye. Jake then looked down at the pin. The pin was the shape of Wonderbolts symbol of a lightning bolt and a pair of wings on it. Well, I guess today got even better. Jake pocketed the pin and continued towards the balloon with the others, and Dash stood flapped staring aimlessly with her jaw wide open.

"Rainbow, you going to stay like that all day." Said Jake

"I...I...I can't believe it. I've worked my whole life to be a Wonderbolt, but you become one after just one battle with Spitfire." Said Rainbow

"What can I say, I guess I'm the best pony around," said Jake with a wink to Rainbow.

"Not funny Jake, not funny at all." Said Rainbow

"You're right, your still the best flyer. But hey, you'll join one day." Said Jake

"Yeah, I guess." Said Rainbow

The group continued as the sun began to set on yet another beautiful day.

So happy day here is another chapter to fill you all with the Pokemon spirit. I hope you enjoy yet another chapter of this story. So I'm going to get two more updates out before I spend some time working with The Fabled Warrior since I know people are waiting for the next chapter since I left if on a cliff hanger.
