Nightshade flew back to the cave with a firm determination to settle the problem, for once and for all, so when she flew in she didn't expect to see Pyrite with a bleeding wound in his shoulder as he held down Metamorph.

“I leave to tie up a loose end and this is what you do?!”

She landed firmly before walking over to them, Pyrite, quickly detecting the aura of rage and hate radiating off her, moved off of Metamorph immediately and stayed with Sapphire. The moment she turned her a to Metamorph he flinched, moving a few centimeters away from her, but she just walked closer to him with a grin that was anything but comforting. She lifted a hoof to caress his face and he tried not to move,

“thank you for not hurting him too much Pyrite, I wanted him to be able to fly so I could show him the pitiful excuse for a stallion he listened to,”

Pyrite wordlessly nodded and didn't bother to move from his spot, let alone speak as Nightshade helped her mate to his hole filled hooves and flew out with him.

“is mommy feeling ok? She looks more scary than usual, and that's saying a lot coming from me,”

Sapphire said, as she looked to Pyrite for possible answers, but he just shrugged,

“I don't know, but she just seems more like an alpha dragon now, has this ever happened before?”

He looked down at Sapphire, and she shook her head,

“never like this, it was always different when she did it in her other form,”

Once the sound of wings beats had faded in to silence, Pyrite flew up to the mouth of the cave and sat down, putting Sapphire down beside him.

When Nightshade and Metamorph got back to the castle guards were already there, filling the Canterlot gardens entrance, with their spears drawn in case she lashed out. But it didn't seem to faze her as they passed by, she had more important things to deal with at the moment, and none of which, evolved frightened guards. When they had gotten to the dungeons, Valour’s cell was instantly noticeable, his throat was slowly becoming bruised due to his constant struggle to get free. Nightshade stopped in front of his cell, and Metamorph hesitantly took her side,

“how have you been doing leech? Bad I hope,”

Nightshade said as she leaned her head in slightly, and he snapped his jaws at her muzzle. She flinched and moved away just in time, before looking at Metamorph,

“your tiny mare is a crazy bitch, I don't know why you'd fight for her when she's clearly dangerous enough to do this to a helpless stallion,”

Nightshade pushed his muzzle back through the bars, and he fell to ground roughly.

“I did that to prove a point, one you obviously didn't get,”

Her magic surrounded his throat and lifted him up for Metamorph to see,

“this is the stallion you trusted in your time of weakness, a stallion who survived by manipulation and lies and charm, he played you for a fool when you came in here to vent.”

She dropped Valour on one of his hind legs, and a loud crack could be heard, as well as a loud groan of pain as she stepped in front of him, making perfect eye contact with him as she continued.

“I went to someone else, someone who saved me and trusted me enough to offer his own opinion on the matter, but you came to this blood sucking tick, to talk. Please tell me why, why out of all the possible choices you had to talk to, you chose him?”

Metamorph looked at her for a few minutes before looking around quickly and lowering his head,

“I…I don't know, it just seemed like he was weak enough to talk to normally, like we used to before he went crazy for your blood,”

Nightshade lifted a hoof to his chin to lift his head, and his eyes met hers again.

“Morphy, my aunt and my mother would have been more than willing to provide a good opinion that would have been more safe than this was, and you would have gotten to know how I deal with creatures like dragons better, and I know this because they have told me that you could talk to them. I love you still and would never force you to fight for me just so you could show how much you love me,”

She stepped closer to him and raised her wings to wrap them around his neck and back, as she rested her head on his chest gently, and the familiar feeling of tears beginning to soak his chitin began to come back.

“I was so scared when you were able to challenge Pyrite, I thought that if I didn't stop it you two would end up killing each other, but I didn't know who to defend until you shot at him,”

She looked up at him and he wiped some of her tears off her cheek,

“when I saw you lying there I thought that I had made the ultimate mistake, and I felt a part of my heart die when I saw that you weren't moving,”

She reared up and hugged him tightly as she began to cry harder, and even shake from the heaving gasps.

“please don't ever scare me like that again!”

After a while of holding each other they walked out of the dungeons, Nightshade's wings began to change back to fully feathered wings and Metamorph was, once again, full and unwavering the love she had for him. Things seemed okay for the time being, until they were told that Nightshade's cousin was coming back from his long vacation, and he had no idea what changes were taking place in Equestria at all. And Nightshade prayed that he would keep his mouth shut around Pyrite, and especially, Metamorph.
