(chapter 44) in hiding

When Nightshade had gotten to the cave, she immediately dove into the depths of it and laid down on a ledge a fair distance from the entrance. Pyrite wasn't there, but it didn't matter, she needed time alone to clear her head. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to start a family, she now had to worry about a little colt who saw her as a hero. If he knew what she did he'd never forgive her, and sapphire wouldn't truly understand either.

“oh Nightshade, you've really fucked up this time,”

She quietly said to herself, she would only have a few days to think of an explanation for what had happened.

“what if he hates me too? what would he even think of me after he hears about this?”

The questions racked her mind, distracting her, confusing her and frightening her. She covered her face with her hooves and tried to block out everything around her, she had tried to do this meditating method so many times when she got upset, it had worked so well in the past.

“the moon spins, the sun spins, Equestria spins, everything is spinning, everything has a rhythm and purpose,”

She said to herself as she massaged her temples with her hooves,

“I have a purpose, and so does that insect, weather his is to die young or live long is not my choice. Breathe and stay breathing,”

She took a deep breath and in that moment she felt more at ease.

She looked down at the singed spot being hit by sunlight beneath her, remembering Pyrite would come back a day sooner than Metamorph.

“he can protect me, I could just stay here while I work, I'll be working on the dragon situation anyways so it would just work,”

She sat up and opened her wings before gliding out of the cave. Her mind and heart set on preparing for the move, hoping that 32 wouldn't follow her again. When she got back to the castle, she made a direct beeline for her room, packing her saddlebags with papers fresh parchment and quills as well as ink. She was just about ready to leave, her saddlebags strapped to her sides and her folded up blanket in her hooves, when 32 walked over to her.

“are you going somewhere? I don't think that would be easy to travel with,”

Nightshade ignored him and flew right by him, swatting his face with her tail. She was more than done with his shit, but she never would have expected him to grab her tail and pull her down so violently.

“I asked you something! It's very rude to ignore a question like that,”

Nightshade just glared at him, before kicking both her hind legs into his muzzle. There was a loud and more than troubling crack as he stumbled back and began to wail in pain at his broken nose. And Nightshade just grabbed her things and quickly headed back to the cave, hoping that she wouldn't have to do that a second time.
