This story diverges after Friendship Games.

After her Awakening, Sunset Shimmer learnt that the human world is neither devoid of magick nor of monsters. The world she knew was only one facet of a prism, a thinly veiled Lie made to keep mortal minds ignorant of the truth.

Now a Mage, her new powers are nothing like those she commanded in the past and neither are the responsibilities that come with them. No matter what powers she possesses, she is still a young woman who cares about her friends, but that is a weakness that the monsters - which are sometimes all too human - will readily exploit.

Together with new friends and old, she has no choice but to learn more of this hidden world. What she learns as she takes her first steps will decide her fate. In a world where the gods are malevolent, monsters hide in plain sight, and magick can alter the fundamental rules of the universe on a whim, she will need to apply every lesson.

This story is heavily influenced by the game Mage: the Awakening (2nd Edition), but is not a full crossover and has been written to be accessible to those with no knowledge of the game.
