Ever since they returned from their trip to Camp Everfree, Sunset had wondered where the magic that gave her and her friends the amulets, and turned Gloriosa evil, came from in the first place. But they've got other issues to deal with. Like, there's a new student at CHS and he's quite the odd fellow. But after an encounter with the school board director, he seems to be a little suspicious. And why is he with Bon-Bon all the time? But one thing they gonna know for certain is, this ain't Equestrian Magic they're dealing with this time.
