After his encounter with Princess Luna, he couldn't stop thinking of what she meant of repaying him. After a long night, he flew back to his room. On the way, he saw Lox Wing and the rest of Ember's friends walked out of there house and parted ways. When he landed slowly inside his room, he closed the door and walked out of his room and headed downstairs. When he walked inside the dining room, he saw his parents and Ember cleaning up the mess after her party was over.

"Let me help you, dad." He said when he grabbed a broom. Crimson just smiled and walked towards Green and whispered.

"We should give them some privacy." He whispered. Green nodded in agreement and walked towards Moonlight and Ember and said.

"Me and your father are heading up first. You two should finish cleaning the mess before you go back to sleep." She said. They gave her a nod in agreement. Green smiled then walked upstairs towards their room, Crimson followed after saying goodnight.

"You guys really made a mess, didn't you?" Moonlight smiled with a smirk. Ember rolled her eyes and said.

"At least I'm not the pegasus who was on his room all night reading a book." She responded with a grin.

Moonlight wanted to respond back by saying she met Princess Luna in person, but he doesn't want anypony knowing of his secret hiding spot. So he said nothing and continued on cleaning the mess.

After cleaning the birthday mess, Ember waved goodnight and teleported to her room. Moonlight sighed and headed towards his room. When he was ready to sleep. He look at the moon one more time before drifting to his dream.

In his dream, he was flying while doing tricks and every time he does it, his agility and reflexes improves. When he was about to go another run, he saw the shadow figure he saw in the hill. He realized who it was and bowed.

"Greetings Princess, why are you in my dream?" He greeted and asked. Luna smiled and raise a hoof signaling to rise and said.

"As the princess of the night, it's my duty to dream walk into anyponies dream, destroying the nightmares and giving a happy and colorful dream." She replied.

"So, this is what the time tells huh? We meet in my dream world." He said following with a sigh.

"Indeed, but I have a message for you, Moonlight. Tomorrow after the moon shines, an incident will occurs near your home. You must becareful, Moonlight Sparks. You never know what will happen." Luna warned Moonlight before walking towards the moon. After a bright flash, she was nowhere to be seen. That dream woke Moonlight. He was recalling of what happened. Then lies back to his bed before fully sleep.

When morning came, Moonlight yawned and walked downstairs. He was still thinking about Luna's warning, but he didn't mind that for now. He sat on the chair in the dining when Crimson walked out of the kitchen while levitating four plates of stacked pancakes.

"Morning, dad." Moonlight greeted him. He smiled and said.

"Morning, son. Your up early, do you have any plans for today?" He asked. He slowly put down the plates in the table.

"Just gotta exercise my wings a bit." Moonlight replied with a smile. Crimson smiled back.

"I see." He said. Then Green walked out of the kitchen and headed to sit on the chair.

"Morning, Moonlight." She greeted with a smile.

"Morning, mom." He greeted her with a smile.

Out of nowhere, Ember appeared in her table. She was already seated and ready to eat breakfast.

"Hi mom, hi dad, hi bro." She greeted with excitement. This made her parents giggle, except for Moonlight, he rolled his eyes and greeted her.

"Your really excited today." Green said.

"Yup, I can't wait to go to princess Celestia's school for gifted unicorns." Ember replied.

"How about you, Moonlight? Got anything on use for your wings there." Crimson said while levitating some pancakes.

"Not much. I wanted to try out on the flying academy, but I don't think I really have the time." He said before biting another pancake.

"Why is that? Most of the time, you get up early and started flying. Then you come back here at noon and walked back to your room and slept. When you wake up it's almost nighttime. Then you started reading some book and flew again out of your window in the middle of the night." Crimson explained.

"How did you know I was flying in the middle of the night?" Moonlight asked in shock.

"Cause, were your parents. It's parental instinct, and because I saw you flying out of your window." Crimson replied.

Moonlight sighed and said. "I'm sorry if I didn't tell you I just-"

He was stopped by Crimson, who hugged him. Then Ember and Green walked to them and joined their hug.

"It's okay, Moonlight. You have your reasons for not telling us." Green said in a calm, motherly voice. He smiled and they let go of their hug.

"Besides, it is a good practice when you've become into a royal guard one day." Crimson said in a chuckle. They all burst of laughter. When they stopped, Ember is the first speak.

"Um, not to ruin the moment everypony but. WERE GONNA BE LATE!!!" She screamed. Then Green realized she's almost late for work. After a quick goodbye, she flew out of their house as fast as her wings can carry. Crimson put on his armor while Ember hurriedly packed her saddlebag and they both galloped as far their legs can carry out towards their destination. Leaving Moonlight puzzled.

He quickly took the plates and put them carefully on the kitchen sink. After that, he walked outside and inhaled the breeze and exhaled. He extended his wings and started flying. First he was flying above Canterlot, he even saw Green with the weather team, Ember saw Moonlight and gave him a wave. He saw Ember waving at him, he waved back before turning towards Ponyville. He never flew above Ponyville, even the everfree forest. But when he did, he was happy. He never flew as fast as he did when he was in flight school. He landed on a hill next to the everfree forest and took a quick nap near the tree. However, when he woke up, it was almost nighttime. He was shocked that he was going to be late for dinner, and his parents might be worried. He flew as fast his wings can carry him.

When he reached Canterlot, he was in shock at disbelief of what he saw. Canterlot is in chaos, with the work of a lord of chaos, Discord made Canterlot into a complete chaos he wanted. There Moonlight saw his family near their home, he saw Crimson was facing Discord. He believe that he can beat Discord, or at least buy the Princesses some time to get the elements of harmony. Moonlight was still hovering in the sky, seeing his father stepping up to Discord where most ponies cower in fear. His father is none of those ponies. He smiled and in tears. Now he know what his reasons are when he dreamed of being a royal guard. So he can be brave and protect ponies like his father.

But that tears of joy turned into sorrow when Crimson was strucked with a magic blast from Discord. He groaned in pain. Seeing this wanted Moonlight to fly over there and protect him. But he stopped when he saw the two royal sisters flying towards Discord. With Moonlights experience in flying, he calculated that they wouldn't make it in time. So just when Discord was about to hit another magic blast to Crimson, Moonlight tackled Crimson, evading Discord's attack.

"Moonlight...what are you...doing here? Go get your sister and mother out of here." Crimson ordered.

"I can help!" He responded.

"No! Its too dangerous! Get out of here while you can!" Crimson ordered once more.

"No! The princesses are almost here! They can make it if we distract a little longer." He said.

"Now what is this? Your son? For a pegasus, you've got guts. I'll give you that." Discord said while looking at the both of them.

"But that won't help you at all." He added. Then he burst out an evil laught. Then suddenly, something hit him in the back. He turned and find no one there, then he was hit in the back once more. Then he realized Moonlight was smiling.

"What are you smiling at?" He asked furiously.

"For a lord of chaos, you don't have much reaction on your surroundings." Moonlight replied. Then Discord was charging up another magic blast, Moonlight disappeared. Discord turned to his left and right to see if Moonlight was there.

"Hello." Moonlight said when he was knocking on Discord's head. Discord was irritated and throws the magic blast above him. Then he realized that Moonlight wasn't there anymore.

"Where are you?" Discord was furious. He thinked of an idea on how to lure Moonlight. He disappeared and reappeared behind Ember and Green. They were shocked and was too late to run away. Discord grabbed both of them.

"Don't you hurt them, Discord!" Moonlight demanded. Discord chuckled and said.

"Oh, I won't. All you need to do is stop and I'll set them free." Discord demanded. Moonlight agreed and landed near Crimson, who was still healing his wounds using his magic. Discord teleported Green and Ember near them. Then he made a wicked grin. Then he charge a magic blast and throw them at the family. Moonlight was thinking that this is his last flight. But then he looked at his family, he was happy for them. His mother was an officer of the weather team. His father is a lieutenant of the royal guard. And Ember was enrolled in Princess Celestia's school for gifted unicorns and already learned a lot of spells. While he doesn't have anything to give his all. He was ready to face his faith.

After it hit them. Moonlight was shocked when he opened his eyes, he saw his mom and dad, covering him and his sister in the impact. They fall on the ground and Moonlight tried to wake them up. For the first time of his life, he was crying in sorrow. Discord laughed maniacally as he look at the family. Moonlight was filled with sorrow and anger that he gritted his teeth. When he was about to lunge at Discord, Ember stopped him. She was crying as well, but she pointed that the princess arrived. Luna and Celestia frowned at the fallen ponies that they were too late. They walked towards Moonlight and Ember, who was still crying.

"We're sorry, little ones." Celestia apologized. Then she looked at Discord with anger. When Luna and Celestia took a final look at the family. They took the elements of harmony out of their saddlebags.

"Ohh, what have you got there?" He asked with a wicked smile.

"The elements of harmony." Celestia replied.

"With it, we can use them to defeat you." Luna added.

Discord burst out of laughter and said. "You should see yourselves right now, the expressions on your faces, so intense, so sure of yourselves." He said continuing to laugh.

Luna and Celestia powered up the elements and all of a sudden. A rainbow was spiraling above and landed st Discord who was still laughing. He was cut off when he turned into stone. Then the royal sister cleansed Canterlot, returning everything Discord changed back to normal. They walks towards Moonlight and Ember, who was near their dead parents.

"Were so sorry we let this happened, little ones." Luna apologized frowning.

There was a long silence, after a minute of silence, Moonlight was the first to break the silence.

"No, I'm the one who should be sorry." Moonlight said. Everyone was shocked when he said.

"It's not your fault, Moonlight. You and dad did your best." Ember trying to cheer him up, he sighed and look at Crimson's body.

"No, it's my fault. If I didn't leave Canterlot, I would have been here to help. Or at least distract Discord. So that the princess Luna and princess Celestia will have a lot of time to get the elements of harmony. Our parents should be alive right now." Moonlight protested. Tears falling in his eyes.

Then he felt a hoof on his head. He looked up to see Luna giving him a weak smile.

"Don't let your guilt get the best of you, Moonlight. If you hold it longer, it will grow and consume you." She said.

"Thank you princess, I appreciate the concern, but this is a feeling I have to dealt on my own." He said. Luna nodded in agreement and turned to princess Celestia.

"Let's go sister, we must return to the palace and-" Luna was stopped when she felt a dark energy coming from Moonlight.

Moonlight was screaming in pain when body was in a painful state. Then slowly he was covered in a dark sphere. Moonlight felt like his body is changing. He felt his felt his wings changed from a feathered wings of a pegasus into a leathery skinned of a bat. So as his ears. Then when he opened his eyes. It turned into a dark blue slit like eyes. His mane turned from a light blue colored into a dark blue colored.

When the sphere that was holding Moonlight inside slowly shrinking. What they saw shocked Ember and the two sister.

"What in equestria happened?" Ember asked the princesses. They exchanged glances and Luna was first to speak.

"How is this possible? I never saw a pegasus turned into a batpony before." She replied.

The batpony turned to the group. Then all of a sudden, it flew away. They chased the batpony,

"Where is he going?" Ember asked.

Luna remembered the road below the batpony's headed.

"I know where he's going. Follow me." She said. Everyone followed her.

Then they reached a small hill. When they were near the walked behind a bush. There they saw the batpony sitting and closing his eyes.

"You don't have to hide from me." He said without looking at them. They walked out of the bush and Ember was the first to step up.

"Moonlight? Is that you?" She asked. Then Moonlight turned and faced Ember.

"Yes, it's me." He replied. Then Ember ran and hugged at him. He was shock at first, but then he hugged back. They let go of the hug and Luna walked towards them and said.

"I may have saw great things of you, Moonlight. Everything you've done to help other ponies. If that means risking yours." She stated and smiled. "But I never thought of you being a batpony. How did this happened?" She asked.

"I don't know, I was thinking of what you've said earlier. And after that, I didn't know what happened. The next thing I knew is I'm up here." He replied.

"Strange, nopony can change into a batpony. Let alone a pegasi." Luna said. Thinking of what really happened.

"Let's not discuss this any further, you must rest you two. We will prepare a burial in the cementery. And tomorrow you may see them." Princess Celestia said. Which they nodded in agreement. When the two sisters flew back to the castle. Ember and Moonlight, walked towards their home, the corpse of their parents were already been delivered to the burial. Ember was about to cry, before Moonlight hugged her. She smiled and after the hug, she let out a yawn and said goodnight to Moonlight. Moonlight nodded and walked towards his room and slept on his bed.

Morning came and Moonlight was interrupted by Ember who was trying to wake home up. He woke up and greeted Ember, who was shocked of what she saw.

"Um, why are you looking at me like that?" He asked until he felt that his wings are soft and feathery again. His eyes returned to normal, and his mane returned to it's light blue color. He was shocked when he realized this.

"Your back to normal, I'm so happy." Ember said. While she hugged him. He smiled and returned the hug.

"Let's go downstairs and start eating breakfast, we might be able to go to the cemetery today." She added then she teleported downstairs to her chair on the dining room.

'I wish I could teleport like her when I need to.' He thought. Then all of a sudden, he was already sitting on his chair. Ember looked shocked when she saw him appeared there. He was confused of what just happen. Then he realized that he was already in the dining room. In front of him was Ember, who was still in shock.

"DID YOU JUST TELEPORTED?!?"
