Chapter Seven: Red Eyes and a Talk with Starlight

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Spike felt the sun shinning on his face. Confusion still overwhelmed him since Celestia died and the sun still comes up, but he tried not to focus on it. His emerald eyes did a sideway glance, seeing that Twilight wasn't with him anymore. Twilight was probably training with the rest of the Mane Six. To...protect...him. He sighed at that thought.

He raised up and walked around the room. His emerald eyes narrowed as he kept thinking about everything that has happened. He just couldn't take it. It was just...so...

"FRUSTRATING!" His eyes turned fiery red, sparkling brightly as his anger and frustration grew. He gazed at the mirror in the bedroom and saw the color of his eyes. They looked familiar to him.

Sombra.

He gasped loudly as his eyes turned crystal blue, jerking him backwards and crashed into the wall, and then fell face forward onto the floor. Black energy surrounded him, causing him to phase through the wooden floor.

Spike groaned lightly. "What is it this time?"

"Spike?"

Spike raised up and looked around his surroundings. The room looked like Starlight Glimmer's.

"Spike?!"

Spike turned around and saw Starlight Glimmer with a heat mask in her right hoof.

"St...Starlight?"

Starlight Glimmer levitated her heat mask and hanged it on a nail. "What are you doing in here?"

Spike laughed nervously. "You know...just...laying here."

"You phased through the floor, Spike."

"You didn't see me phase through this floor. It was all an illusion."

Starlight gave him a serious look. "Twilight told me about this Spike. Your powers, Sombra, you avoiding them, everything."

Spike sighed. "And you hate me don't you?"

Starlight gave him a confused look. "Why would I hate you?"

"Oh you know? My uncontrollable powers that can blow everypony to bits!"

Starlight flinched and saw a weird change in Spike's eyes. They weren't emerald green as she normally see them. They were bright red with yellow pupils. Starlight backed up a bit.

"Sp... Spike.....your eyes are red...."

Spike clenched his eyes shut. "ARGH! I HATE THIS!"

Starlight Glimmer walked towards him. "Spike, you need to calm down."

Spike took a few low breathers before looking back towards the unicorn. "Your right. I'm so sorry Starlight. I'm just going through things."

Spike sighed and looked down at the floor. "But that's no excuse," Spike mumbled, sitting on the floor. Starlight sighed and sat on her hunches beside Spike.

"Look, Twilight told me about Sombra being your real father. With that knowledge, I can only assume that he was sorta abusive and neglective towards you."

'Dang Glimmer, your smart," he thought. Spike nodded his head slowly.

"Well, I went through something similar. Although my father wasn't no evil mastermind who was plasted all over Equestria, he was....abusive...but mostly neglective. That's one of the main reasons why I freaked out so much from losing my only friend. My mother died when I was only a filly, and my father was not always around. I had no one. Until I met Sunburst. He was the only pony I knew who was nice to me. My only...friend... That was until he gained his cutie mark. Then I was alone again and my mind wasn't calm when I wasn't around Sunburst since my father was...you know.

When growing up, I found it hard to trust anypony and my hatred for cutie marks grew. And I never had a single friend...," Starlight cried.

Spike watched in sad eyes.

Starlight smiled at him. "That was, until you guys showed me friendship. You guys showed me that I can trust filles, mares, stallions, even dragons. It was the best day of my life," Starlight said, crying tears of joy.

Starlight sighed and wiped away her tears. "Look, it may be hard for you, but realize that your not alone. You don't have to tell us right away, but please know that we always love you Spike. You can speak up when your ready, but no lies," she said.

Spike gave her a tiny smile. "Thanks," he said.

"No problem," she said.

Spike looked around the room again. "So, are you ganna fight with them?"

Starlight nodded. "Yep. But Twilight said I can take a break on the fighting process, and more on my intellectual. So, I get to use my love for inventing to strengthen it," Starlight explained.

"Cool," Spike said with a smirk.

"Well, I better get back to inventing. See you later," Starlight said to the dragon.

"See you," Spike said, walking towards the door.

"Oh and Spike?"

Spike turned around to face the unicorn. "Yeah?"

"When all of this is over, I promise you I will help you control your powers better," Starlight said, levitating her heat mask on her face.

"Thanks," Spike says, opening the door and closing it behind him.

Once out of Starlight's room, Spike could hear the sound of a blowtorch being used. Spike smiled, thinking about all the things the mare could be inventing.

"She's your friend too, ain't she Spike?"

Spike screamed in fear and panic, throwing him inside the bathroom. Once thrown, the door was locked. "Oh come on!"

Spike sighed and looked in the bathroom mirror, seeing himself with demon eyes and sharp fangs filled with blood. "AHH!" Spike stumbled backwards, but once he fell, he didn't fell anything. Nothing lifted him up. He only felt darkness.

He suddenly heard a dark laugh. "How did you like your reflection, Spike?"

Spike felt his demonized red eyes on him, but didn't turn to face him. "That wasn't me," he said angrily.

"Not now. But deep down inside you," Sombra said.

"It's not me!" he exclaimed at Sombra, trying to convince him. And himself.

Sombra smirked. "Are the only things that come out your mouths are lies, Spike?"

"Leave me alone!"

Sombra sighs. "Whatever. I really didn't come for you. I came to warn you. I came to tell you that I will haunt your friends when I return until they break," he said.

"You will not do no such thing!"

Sombra smirked wider. "Your right. I have another pony in mind," he said.

Now Spike was confused. "What are you talking about?"

"You'll see," Sombra said with a bigger smirk. As Sombra's horn was surrounded by dark magic, Spike was back in the bathroom, panting heavily.
