Quest For the Cure
Chapter 4:The Journey
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe next day, Frisk had packed some things to take with her on the journey. Thanks to the money raised by the rebels, she was able to buy herself a washing kit, a flashlight, and food to last her throughout the journey.
While she was packing, her pet dragon, Spike, came to ask her, ‘I heard you are going on an adventure, right? Can I come with you as well?’ he said cheerfully.
Frisk smiled. ‘Well, I have asked the Mayor yesterday and he said that Zebulon only allows one person to visit him, but you don’t really count as one cause you’re a dragon, so I guess you can come.’ She said.
That night, she was about to depart to Oban, the first stop of the journey. When she was about to depart, her family came along to say farewell.
‘I hope you will come back safe and sound, my dear,’ Chara cried.
‘Don’t worry, I have been preparing for a long time and I knew this is the time for me to save the country,’ Frisk replied.
‘We will always think of you when you are gone,’ Asriel said, sobbing.
Frisk went to comfort them. ‘I know this is hard for you guys, you won’t want to lose me as well. But no matter what, always remember that I have at least tried to save you all, I’ll do my best.’ She said.
And thus, she departed on a seven-hour journey to Oban, and had another two-hour walk to the city dock after a little rest. She felt tired but her determination kept her going. As she got to the gate to Oban’s docks, she saw a man, who looked like he was recovering from a night of heavy drinking. She tried to sneak past him, but as she approached the man, the man saw her.
‘I haven’t seen you around here before, have I?’ He asked.
Frisk stopped dead in her tracks. ‘Um…No, I’m just visiting my aunt in Oban,’ She said nervously, trying to sound casual.
‘Really? What’s her name? I know everyone here.’ The man said, reaching into his pockets.
Frisk saw a brief glint of a steel dagger in the man’s pocket. He looked angrily at Frisk, and sharpened his focus. She knew he seemed very fishy. Indeed, he was a spy for Gromiz.
‘Hold on, why are you reaching for your dagger? I can see that, you know.’ Frisk said as she backed away.
The man was shocked. He didn’t know the chosen one was this smart.
‘Clever girl,’ he said, and he tried to attack Frisk.
‘I knew you are up to something, if you wish to kill me though, you’re going to have to catch me first!’ Frisk said as she ran away, as fast as she could.
The spy ran after her but she was running so quickly that he lost sight of her quickly. ‘Gromiz will kill me for this…’ he muttered.
Frisk sneaked around the narrow ways of the street, and made her way around back to the gates. As she walked by, she saw the spy had dropped the dagger since he didn’t take it out before she questioned him.
‘This would come in handy, good thing you didn’t buy that Swiss army knife back at the store, huh?’ Spike whispered to Frisk.
After opening and entering the docks, Frisk sneaked past the guards inside. She was very stealthy, and that was very handy.
‘Hey! How did you get in here? I thought there was a guard at the gate!’ One guard said to her.
‘Oh, I have my reasons.’ Frisk said, threatening them with the dagger.
In no time, she got on one of the boats and was ready to sail to Tongwe Island.
‘I really hope we make it back safely,’ Frisk said faithfully.
‘We both do, but one never knows if we will.’ Spike replied.
And so she began her way to the next stop of her journey. She doesn’t know whether she will succeed or not, but she knows that she is prepared for anything.
