Finding Freedom
Chapter 10
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Um what?" Even my voice sounded confused.
Twilight explained in detail, "The tower Silver mentioned in his letter, there isn't a tower anywhere near here. The only place that could be remotely close to what he was talking about would be the old castle, but that isn't visible from here."
I nodded to show my understanding, "So basically we have no idea where Silver went, and that he might not be in the right state of mind. Are we sure he isn't just in town laughing at us trying to find him?"
Twilight looked at me, "Well he doesn't really seem the type to play pranks, and this is going a bit far."
"That's exactly why he would do it, it doesn't make sense. I think your right though, he doesn't have the patience to wait this out in hiding."
"Well for now we just need to wait for the girls to get back, and you are not leaving this building." As she talked she pulled out an atlas and began looking through it.
"Uh why's that?"
She didn't even look at me, "I told Celestia that some interesting characters showed up, I don't want her to show up just to see that I lost both of them."
"Well okay, but I meant more of what's stopping me from leaving?"
Twilight turned to look at me, and her horn was glowing. A book flew past me of its own accord.
"Oh right." A silence fell over the room.
"Twilight can I ask you something?"
She nodded at me, "Did you have any feelings for Silver."
Here she laughed, "Ya right. Silver is an egotistical, self-centered, and idiotic pony. He thinks he's all that, and not even too make up for a lack of self esteem, but because he actually thinks he's better than everyone. He never thinks about what he does, and just acts. I was able to get all that from one meeting, I don't think I want to get to know him better. In fact I would say he is the exact opposite of me."
"Well you know what they say, opposites attract." I ducked as a book flew at me.
"I'd rather kiss a mule than him!"
"Be careful, he may hold you to that." I wasn't quick enough to dodge the next book, and 'Herby's Guide to Vegetation' hit me in the head. I held my tongue after that.
Soon the door opened and the rest of the girls poured in. Applejack spoke up,
"Ah'm sorry Twi', but we can't find head nor mane of Silver."
"They found me though!" Pinkie bounced out from behind AJ with a huge smile on her face. "Silver must be really good at this game if he beat me. Maybe we should play tic-tac-hoof next!"
Twilight sighed, "Pinkie this is serious, Silver is really missing. We need to find him before…."
A knock on the library door interrupted Twilight.
"They're here! Oh no what am I going to do? Celestia will be so disappointed in me! I let a potentially dangerous pony roam free!"
Rainbow opened the door before Twilight could say anything else. Celestia stooped down to enter the Library, Luna followed behind her. Celestia stood at a towering 7 ft, and her horn had to be at least a foot long. Luna was shorter than her sister and was probably around 5'8. Either one would be terrifying if they stood on two hooves.
All of the girls bowed, and I quickly followed suit.
"Please stand up. So Twilight, tell me about your discovery."
I had a feeling that it was a good thing Silver wasn't here, I didn't see him and the royalty mixing that well.
Twilight finally spoke up, "Well it started two days ago. Rainbow flew in here to tell me that she had seen two ponies fall from the sky. At first I was skeptical, but then next thing I knew everypony was in the library with Pinkie ready to surprise the newcomers. Lunar came in alone and they all surprised him. When Pinkie realized she had only gotten one of them, she asked everyone to quite down again."
Twilight took a deep breath, "While they waited Rainbow, Applejack, and I went out to where they had 'fallen' from. At the top of a hill we saw a weapon buried into the ground. We tried t get it out, but none of us could. Applejack even tried to buck it out of the ground. I studied the area a little bit to see if I could find any magical residue, but there was nothing."
"More like for hours…" Rainbow muttered.
Twilight glared at Rainbow before continuing, "Anyway we gave up and came back to the Library. By that time the other newcomer, who we call Silver, had arrived. The party was already over so we could start questioning them."
Twilight repeated what Silver had told them that night, or morning as it were. I watched the Princesses faces throughout the entire discussion, I couldn't really see Luna as she was somewhat hiding behind Celestia. When Twilight had mentioned a weapon her eyes had narrowed. When Twilight had gotten to the part about suicide her eyes widened in surprise, but only got wider when Twilight mentioned what happened after.
"… And that is who they are, and how they got here." Twilight then took a huge breath again.
Celestia finally turned to give me a closer look, "So, Lunar is it? I would like to learn more about the world you come from, but where is your friend, Silver?
Twilight spoke before I could say anything, "Actually that's what we were trying to figure out, we don't know where he is right now.
"Twilight I'm sure Lunar can speak for himself, Now Lunar, do you think you could leave in the fashion you came in? Do you think anything else could arrive like you did?"
I answered honestly, "Your highness, I don't think I can answer that. I think you need to ask Silver that. He understands this stuff more than anyone, but I would like to say that we have no intention of harming anyone."
"I see, well I didn't think that you intended to do harm here. Well I'm disappointed that I didn't get to meet your other new friend Twilight."
Twilight actually interrupted, "He is not my friend!"
Celestia laughed, "So you threw him a party, and let him stay at your place? Lunar I have a favor to ask of you, actually two."
Uh oh. "Yes your highness?"
"First of all, enough of this highness business, I'm not a queen. I would like you to stay here in Ponyville at least until Silver returns, I have some things to ask him. While you are here I would appreciate it if you could tell Twilight everything you could about your world. Twilight I would like you to record what he says down and send me a copy."
"So we can stay?"
Celestia laughed again, I could get used to that sound, "Well I can't just kick you out, that would be horrible. Besides even if I wanted too, I have no idea how to send you back. Interesting name you have, my sister's name is Luna."
Luna walked out from behind Celestia and smiled nervously.
"Pleased to meet you your highness."
"Oh no. Please just call me Luna." Her voice was timid, but she was confident. She didn't stutter like Fluttershy at least.
Before anything else was said Celestia spoke, "Well it was wonderful to see you all, but when both of us are gone from the castle too long the guards tend to panic. We have to get going now, but I hope to hear from you soon."
They left as quickly as they had come (Smirk). We all stayed silent for a little bit, nopony knew what to say.
Rainbow broke the silence, "Well what do we do now?"
The girls all looked down, thinking, but I already knew what to do.
"Nothing."
They all looked at me and collectively said, "What?"
"Well the entire reason we were looking for Silver was so he could see Celestia. Celestia told us to tell her when Silver came back. So now we just wait for him to come back. There isn't a problem anymore, so we don't have to worry."
Everyone seemed satisfied with that, except Twilight.
"What about the voice you were all talking about?"
AJ spoke up, "Well now that Silver's gone I don't feel or hear a darn thing."
I spoke up before Twilight could find something else, "Besides Silver is out trying to figure that one out. I say we all go home and get some rest. We can think about this in the morning, besides by that time Silver might be back."
Everyone else agreed to this plan, and we planned to meet at back at the library after noon tomorrow. The girls walked out leaving me, Twilight and Fluttershy alone.
Twilight turned to look at Fluttershy, "Do you want to stay here tonight 'Shy?"
Fluttershy nodded her head, but didn't speak
.
"You can sleep on the guest bed then."
Apparently Fluttershy didn't want to hang around, because she immediately went upstairs and went into the guest room. Now it was just me and Twilight. That made me realize that Spike hadn't been here the entire time.
"Hey Twilight, where's Spike?"
"Oh he's probably out with Snips and Snails. They've been playing some game for the past few days now. All I know is that my dice keep going missing."
I nodded and to avoid some awkward silence I said, "Well I'm pretty tired too." It probably wasn't even 6 yet, "So I'm just gonna go lie down."
I tried to move my legs, but they wouldn't listen. I turned my head to look at Twilight. Her horn was glowing.
She advanced on me, "Oh no you don't, you're going to answer all the questions I have for you about your planet."
She had on a smile that was really starting to creep me out. I still couldn't move so I sighed and agreed.
We talked for a long time, me answering any questions she had about Earth. I avoided some of the real nasty things, and I didn't go into detail in a lot of places. Eventually the sun set and the moon started to rise.
Twilight looked over the pages she had written and said, "Well I think that's enough for tonight. Why don't you go get some rest."
Now I was really tired so I went upstairs and went to the balcony make-shift bed. I laid down looking at the moon, wondering where Silver could be. Eventually I fell asleep with the moon hovering above me.
It was still there when I woke up.
