Finding Freedom
Epilogue 1: The Wizard's Farewell
Previous ChapterNext ChapterLunar's point of view!
I woke up to Twilight moving around down stairs. I decided not to see her until she had her tea. Be a better morning that way. I looked out the balcony window to see Morkar's giant eyesore reaching up as always. His tower, was a part of Ponyville now, and ponies got uncomfortable when it randomly disappeared.
I heard Twilight's voice call my name sweetly. I guess she had her tea. I walked downstairs, and got my own cup of tea. I was never a coffee person, tea always seemed to do the trick. We drank in silence, as Spike was running around making breakfast. Me and him had an agreement of sorts. Neither of us would discuss any details, or mention my relationship with Twilight. It worked out, and we had become friends of a sort.
Using my magic to sip my tea, I watched twilight drink hers and read a book. I was lost in thought when she tapped my head.
"You alright?"
"I was just thinking."
"About what?"
"You."
A voice echoed from outside the door, "Would those thoughts involve a bed?"
Twilight spit her tea out in my face, and giggled when I wiped it off.
"Thanks for that."
I walked up to the door and opened it to reveal Morkar. Even though we had asked him several times to disguise himself as a pony, he wouldn't do it. Said something about hooves being bad for books. Morkar was an odd fellow. He randomly showed up, and when he did he usually had no good reason. His usual response was just, "I was curious".
He seemed to just walk around examining everything in Equestria, always muttering about a core. I didn't ask him about it, whenever Twilight did she came back with a headache. Celestia had spent quite a bit of time with Morkar over the last few months. She said that they talked about Equestria, and such things. If you ask me, I think they did more than talk. Celestia was a bit to friendly with Morkar, maybe they were a special type of 'study buddies'. I'd never voice my opinion to the Princess though. I shuddered when that thought crossed my mind.
Morkar sat down with us, taking a cup of tea for himself. He was lacking in social skills, worse than I used to be. I had to hand it to him though, he knew more than he had a right to. he drained his tea in one gulp, and wiped his mouth.
"Ah that hits the spot. Now onto business. I need someone to watch over my personal collection of books, and my tower of course."
Twilight jumped up and instantly volunteered herself. She had been in the tower once, when Morkar had been bragging about the collection of knowledge inside it. I had to drag her out with the help of Rarity.
"Lunar you seemed like the perfect man… eh… pony for the job. Make sure to keep out that mare of yours. She might never come out next time!"
"Uh… Sure? Why do you need me to watch it?"
"Oh Silver has called for my assistance, and apparently we're all gathering at Izalith to ambush a large group of regulators who are trying to ambush us. Personally I think we should've waited, but you know how he is."
"Wait you've heard from Silver?"
"Well I think they call him Astorias, but he still goes by that name."
"What did he say?"
"I just told you. The regulators have caught on to us, and gathered a large force to ambush us with. Silver got the information somehow, and needs every able warrior he can get."
"Did he say anything about us, or to us?"
"Uh… I have no idea, you should ask him yourself."
"How are we supposed to do that?"
"Oh good point. Well ii need to go so, but since you bring it up. Do you want to pass on any messages?"
Twilight joined into our discussion, "Tell him everypony says hi, and to come back soon."
"I don't know, that's a lot to remember."
"That's the simplest message we could give."
"I'll try, anyway time is of the essence. Apparently it takes the regulators a very long time to figure out they're being hunted down. So know that they know, they are gathering en-masse."
"It's only been four months since Silver left. He couldn't have done that much could he?"
"Oh don't be ridiculous. The time flow isn't the same. Last time I checked, he's been out there for a long time."
"How long."
"I don't know, my counter reached its max, and I didn't notice in time to reset it."
"What is the max."
"Well I reset it once, so about 20,000 Earth years? My math may be a bit off though."
"What?!"
"Seems longer doesn't it? Well I must be going."
So Morkar left us, with our mouths hanging wide open. He closed the door, and just disappeared.
"Well… that was… interesting."
I nodded, "I think I'm just going to pretend he went on vacation, safer for my head that way."
Rarity walked in to find us sitting in silence, "Oh you two, being silenced by my beauty."
Twilight just gave Rarity a look.
"I thought I saw that odd man around here, anything interesting?"
"Be better if you didn't know. Just know that Silver is out there somewhere."
"Well I already knew that darling."
At that moment the door opened once again. Twilight threw her hooves in the air exclaiming,
"What is this? Pony central?"
Fluttershy flew in and landed on the floor.
"You'll never believe what Angel found under my lawn today."
"What is it?"
Fluttershy held out a hoof with a glittering object in her hand. Rarity gasped, and I tried to get a better look at it. It was gold, but it didn't really have a shape. It was crushed, and mangled badly. If I had to take a guess, I would say that it was a gold loop. Almost like one of Zecora's earrings. However, this one had diamonds and a pink jewel on it.
"I give in, what is it?"
Rarity seemed completely flabbergasted. She said nothing, but looked at the thing with shock. After a few seconds had past, she spoke to no one in particular.
"When I hadn't seen Fluttershy wearing it, I assumed he didn't take my advice, and took it with him."
Twilight looked at Rarity, "What is it Rarity?"
Rarity looked over at Fluttershy before speaking, "Well it was the engagement ring for Fluttershy that I gave Silver, before that horrible man arrived. Although, considering it's condition, I'm guessing that didn't go well."
Fluttershy looked down at the mangled ring in her hoof, "He was going to propose?"
"I should think so."
Fluttershy looked down at the ring for a few seconds, before dropping it and flying away. She left the door open and flew back to her house. Somehow, even when he wasn't on the planet, Silver managed to cause problems.
"Well I'm going back to bed, when I wake up, this problem will hopefully be over."
Twilight picked up the ring, and walked away with it. I went upstairs to sleep once again. I love the no post on Sundays rule.
