Chapter 3: Reacquainted

Frost swing open the door and lunged at Ditzy. His hooves wrapped tightly around her and she returned the embrace. Frost began to feel the warmth of her body against his. She cried on his shoulder and gripped him tightly. Frost held her against him, silently begging her to never leave again. His mind began to flash all of the memories he had with Ditzy. From when they were young, to their first night together. He couldn't concentrate on anything around him. His world had become complete again, for he had felt the embrace of the mare he had missed for so long. Ditzy pulled out of the embrace and leaned in to Frost. Their lips collided for a short time, but it was enough to take Frost completely off-guard. His muscles tensed but soon relaxed as they returned to their long embrace. Lightning stuck across the sky and didn't phase the two long-time lovers.

"I've missed you so much, Ditzy." Frost softly said, holding her tight.

"I missed you too." She cried in happiness.

The rain began to fall around them and Dinky began to splash in a nearby puddle. Frost slowly let her go to see a comforting smile on her face.

"C'mon, let's get inside." Frost said, opening the door to his room.

Ditzy retrieved her daughter and trotted inside the motel room. Frost grabbed towels from the bathroom and handed two to Ditzy. Using one, she dried herself off then used the other for Dinky. Frost dried off his soaked mane and sat down in one of the chairs at a table. Ditzy sat across from him and set Dinky in her lap. Frost looked up at Ditzy and couldn't believe he had finally found her, and after all this time, he felt warm inside again. He had felt empty the entire time Dizty was away. Ditzy turned to Frost looking a bit worried.

"What now?" She asked Frost.

"Well, the next train to Ponyville comes tomorrow afternoon. As much as I would love for you to come back with me, I don't want to force anything onto you." Frost said, leaning back in his chair.

"Oh, I actually do want to come back to Ponyville. Get that job as the mailmare, then live in my old house." Ditzy said, looking out the window as the rain poured down.

"That sounds great. But what will you do about Dinky when your working?" Frost asked her, patting the little filly on the head.

"Well, come to think of it, could you watch her for me?" She asked, giving a smile to him.

"I'd be more than happy to." He said, looking down at Dinky.

Dinky crawled out of her mothers lap and onto the table. She trotted on the table over to him and sat in the empty space in front of him on the table. She giggled and held up her hooves to him. Ditzy gave a little laugh as she watched her daughter.

"She wants you to hold her, Frost." She said.

"Oh, okay then." Frost picked up the small filly and held her in his hooves.

Dinky looked up to Frost with her mother's eyes and giggled again. She let out a small yawn and blinked her eyes a few times. Frost watched as Dinky fell asleep in his hooves. Little snores echoed through the room and a tear dripped down Frost's cheek. Lightning struck again and thunder roared through the city. Ditzy and Frost looked out the window and saw the sun was behind thin clouds and was now raining heavily outside. Ditzy sighed as she trotted over to her bags.

"Wait, I can't let you go out there in the rain. Stay with me for the night. Or at least wait for the rain to stop." Frost said, approaching Ditzy.

"Thank you Frost." She said, giving him a smile.

She placed her bags on the floor and sat down again with Frost. They watched the rain outside the window and occasionally shared a hug or a small kiss. The sky had turned jet black and the rain outside still roared on. Ditzy yawned and rested her head in her hooves on the table. Frost picked her up and placed her on the bed, tucking her in like she was a little filly. Dinky was fast asleep and Frost gave her to Ditzy. She held her daughter in her hooves and fell into a deep sleep. Frost shut out the lights and laid in the bed next to Ditzy. He began to hear them snore softly as they slept. A warm fuzzy feeling returned to Frost. It had been so long since he felt it, it almost seemed foreign to him. He closed his eyes and drifted off.
