" TWILIGHT!!!!! YOUVE GOT A LETTER FROM THE PRINCESSES!!!!" Spike yelled hopefully loud enough to break Twilight from her book induced stupor.

About 2 seconds later Twilight appeared in a flash of magic right next to the unsuspecting Dragon,

"WAH, Twilight... You startled me... Here's your letter," Spike said.

"Thank you Spike, now let's see... What has she went me"

Dearest Princess Twilight Sparkle,

It has come to our attention that equestria is without a major defense ever since the Elements of Harmony were returned to their tree. Relations with the griffons and minotaurs are not going well thus my sister and I have decided that that it is best to be prepared just in case. Therefore we request that you and your friends meet us at the castle tomorrow at noon to discuss solutions. Be thinking this over in the mean time.

"So Twilight what did it say?" Spike asked as soon as Twilight finished reading.

"Uhh, well... She seems to want me to come up with some kind of defense in place of the Elements, since we cant currently use them and the griffons and minotaurs are having relations issues with equestria," Twilight replied with a hint of worry in her voice

"Well what did you have in mind?" Spike said thoughfully.

Twilight mulled it over in Her head for a few seconds before responding," I'll have to brainstorm some more but I may have a few ideas."

Tommorrow, 10:00

Twilight had gathered Her friends and explained her situation and was now well on Her way to Canterlot leaving Starlight and Spike in charge of the castle.

"What do you think twilight came up with?" starlight asked,

"I dunno, she was muttering everything from magical transmitters to something about experimental forms of magic," Spike responded,

"well I guess we'll just have to trust her, something I might add, I am kind of uncomfortable doing considering what I've heard of her past experiments," starlight shuddered a bit at the last part,

" I'm gonna go check our medical supplies in case she does something stupid." Spike replied.

"Agreed" starlight added sympathetically

Train to canterlot 10:30

"Ummm, don't mean to burst your bubble Twi but why do we need to be here?" Rainbow retorted,

" Ah agree, why'd y'all drag us along?" AJ added.

" I brought you along because the princesses requested it and because I need some other options for ideas if mine don't pan out, and it might help the decision along to have some more diverse opinions" Twilight responded.

"Awww, I thought it was going to be a party, not some boring meeting." Pinkie whined,

"Um, pinkie dear, you always think everything requires parties, I do think it is not the most appropriate thing in this situation, this sounds quite serious," Rarity explained.

2 hours, 3 bags of candy, and a lot of chit-chatting later,

The Train squealed into the Canterlot Central Rail Station and suddenly stopped on a dime with its magic brakes.
After the train had unloaded most of it's passengers, Twilight and her group had made their way out into the city proper, where a large royal carridge, essentially a limo, was waiting for them.

"Finally some dignified traditional transport" Rarity quipped.

"OooOOoohhh, fancy!" Blurted Pinkie,

Fluttershy almost whispered "It's nice".

Twilight was nose deep in notes, while AJ and Rainbow just shrugged. Everyone boarded and soon the carridge was off. During the short flight nobody save Pinkie said anything

"OoohIhopetheressnackstherewilltheyhavepieorcakeooohmaybecakepiehybrid..." Pinkie babbled on.

Within All of 5 minutes the 6 had arrived at the gates of the palace, the guard looked them over and opened the massive gate while politely saying "welcome back princess."

Twilight led them into the beautifully decorated foyer absolutely covered in gold and silver inlays and decor and continued on to the extravagantly adorned doors of the throne room.

Celestia, sitting upon her gilded throne, looked up from the scroll she was currently reading to see the door opening, she stood up from her throne, readjusted her gold trimmed white silk dress to remove troublesome bunched up spots and walked to the door to greet her former student

"Why, Hello Twilight and friends!" Celestia said.

" Hi princess," Twilight happily replied to her former teacher, her friends remaining quiet to be polite. "You summoned us here to discuss..."

"I am sorry but we must forego the pleasantries, Please follow me to a more appropriate place to begin what I have summoned you for" Celestia interrupted,

with that she then made her way out of the throne room towards a side door leading further into the palace.

I'll get to introducing more characters soon enough, hopefully within the next 2-3 chapters, occasionally edits will be made to any of the chapters, I will put an asterix if it has been edited recently
