LEGO World Adventures 2: The Ultimate Life Form

Sonic and Rainbow Dash raced through the jungles of Prison Island back towards the main base to grab their friends before the island exploded in five minutes. The army of G.U.N. robots blocking their path was not making the job easier as they smashed through all the mechanical guards. Unfortunately, along the way, they came across a small blue robot calling himself "Omochao" and was proving to hinder their efforts more than helping.

"Did you know you can move faster by running?" The blue robot stated as the blue speedsters groaned at another pointlessly obvious fact from their unwanted helper.

"Gee, I never knew that!" Sonic replied with sarcasm.

"Lego bricks can be put together!" Omochao continued, not taking the hint. Rainbow growled with frustration as they dashed through the giant logs and swung on the overgrown vines.

"Collect rings to stay alive!"

"THAT DOES IT!" Rainbow shouted as she grabbed the tiny robot's head and chucked him into the water.

"Throwing Omochao is not niiiiiiice!!!!" The annoying robot's voice was silenced as he sank to the bottom.

"Why would someone make a robot like that?!" She asked as they reached the jungle's exit.

Inside the base

Sunset Shimmer had managed to enter the vault just as the door slammed down. Sunny Flare and Fluttershy stopped their fight to see that all three of them were trapped.

"Well, that's just great!" Sunny clutched the sides of her head in frustration. "I was THIS close to gaining Eggman's trust and you just had to blow my cover!"

"Cover?" Sunset asked in confusion.

"Yes, I was actually spying on Eggman at Kjeld's request! And I had to steal the Chaos Emeralds to make sure the guy fully trusted me!"

"O-Oh..." Fluttershy looked down in shame. Sunset gently patted her back comfortingly.

"Well, it won't matter now..." the former Shadowbolt continued. "Now we're all gonna get blown up."

As if to prove her wrong, Shadow suddenly warped into the room. He gave a glare at the Lego Team members before turing to Sunny.

"You have the Emeralds?" He asked.

"Yeah," she patted her bag.

"Good, then let's go."

"Wait!" Sunset grabbed his arm, unknowingly triggering her mind reading powers. Her eyes glowed white as she looked into Shadow's memories.

Shadow was running down the hallways of a space station, leading a young girl with blonde hair by her arm. They appeared to be chased by someone. Finally stopping in one of the rooms, the girl panted in exhaustion. Before she could fully catch her breath, the door suddenly opened, revealing a squad of soldiers. The girl took a quick panicked look at Shadow and began to limp towards a control panel. Pulling a lever, a glass tube lowered from the ceiling, encasing Shadow inside.

"Maria!" The black hedgehog shouted, futilely banging on the glass as one of the soldiers raised his pistol. He fired a bullet, directly hitting Maria's creation spark. She began to collapse to her knees, still holding the lever.

"Shadow, I beg of you..." she coughed. "For all the people on that planet..." She pulled the lever, releasing Shadow's tube towards the planet. "Sayonara, Shadow the Hedgehog..."

Sunset gasped as she was drawn out of the memory, tears starting to form in her eyes.

"You... never saw her again, did you?" She asked, causing Shadow to pause.

"How did you...?"

"I saw your memories," she continued, slowly bringing Shadow into a hug. Shadow growled before teleporting all four of them out of the exploding base.

Elsewhere

Sonic, Tails, Amy, Twilight and Rainbow Dash had managed to get back to the Cyclone plane and took off just as the runway exploded. Looking back at Prison Island, they saw the entire island be consumed in an inferno.

"I just hope Fluttershy and Sunset made it out alright..." Twilight sighed.

Canterlot City

Shadow teleported into an alleyway, dropping Sunset and Fluttershy off.

"Thanks, Shadow," Sunset coughed. "You saved our lives back there."

"Hmph. I only care about the Emeralds, nothing else." Shadow replied.

"You're not really a bad guy, are you?" Fluttershy asked, causing Shadow to pause again. He began to approach Sunny.

"You... remind me of her," he said before teleporting himself, Sunny and the Emeralds to the ARK.

"What was that about?" Fluttershy asked as they headed back to headquarters.

"It's... complicated," Sunset replied with a sigh.

A few days later

Every television screen in the Lego World suddenly shut off, as a video of Dr. Eggman appeared.

"Citizens of Earth, lend me your ears and listen to me very carefully! My name is Dr. Eggman, the greatest scientist and soon to be the world's greatest ruler! Now bear witness to the birth of the greatest empire of all time!"

Up in space, a small orbiting geode suddenly burst open, revealing the mechanical face of the Space Colony ARK. In its center was a large spire which began to open and glow with blue energy. Taking aim at the moon, the large cannon fired a giant blue beam that could be seen from the surface of the Lego World. The instant it struck the moon, half of the celestial body was blown to bits, exposing its core.

The citizens began to panic as all of the TV screens now showed a 24 hour countdown as Eggman's laughter echoed.

The Lego Team looked up in shock as the energy beam in the sky vanished. They watched the whole ordeal from Celestia's office. Thankfully, the Lego Team's Lunar Base was evacuated and cleared out before the moon was blown in half.

"Th-That energy was off the scale..." Twilight's eyes were definitely wider than ever now.

"The moon was so pretty," Fluttershy sighed. "Why did Dr. Eggman have to wreck it?"

"It has to use a bunch of energy to create a blast that devastating," Twilight adjusted her glasses a little.

"Chaos Emeralds," Sunset deduced. "We know he has most of them."

"Then we need to get up to that space station!" Pinkie shouted.

"Space Colony ARK," Celestia explained. "It was a research station headed by a brilliant scientist. He created Project Shadow and also that weapon you just saw in action."

"The Eclipse Cannon," Luna continued. "It has the power to wipe out a whole planet if it's fully charged."

"Wait, that wasn't its full power?!" Rainbow asked. The sisters shook their heads.

"Hence why we need you and Sonic's team to go up to the ARK and shut down the Eclipse Cannon before Eggman can fire it again."

"Will do!" Pinkie saluted.

"However," Celestia interrupted. "Using one of our own ships would certainly draw Eggman's attention and he will definitely fire the cannon much sooner."

"So what's the plan?"

"We learned that Eggman has set up a pyramid base in the Desert Region. If we're able to hijack one of his ships there..."

"We can slip onto the ARK undetected!" Twilight leapt up in joy.

"So how doe we stop the cannon?" Rarity asked.

"With this," Tails pulled out the yellow Chaos Emerald he received from the city.

"Um, wouldn't that be giving Eggman what he wants?" Rainbow asked.

"Actually, this is an artificial one I created. My theory is if it's placed with the others, it can disable their energies, causing the cannon to shut down."

"Then let's head to Eggman's pyramid!" Twilight activated her Jump Gate, and led the others through it. Just as the portal closed, Applejack accidentally bumped into someone.

"What the hay?!" She rubbed her head and looked up to see the newcomer.

"Knuckles!" Pinkie Pie giggled as she tackled the grumpy echidna. The Guardian let out an "oof" as the two tumbled into the sand.

"What are you doing out here, Knux?" Sonic helped his friendly rival back onto his feet.

"I've been tracking this thief who stole the Master Emerald," he growled.

"Did she happen to look like this?" Pinkie pulled out a photo of Sunny Flare out of nowhere.

"THAT'S HER!" Knuckles shouted.

"She's on our side," Sunset explained. "She's working undercover."

"Guys?" Twilight interrupted the reunion as she looked up from her binoculars. "I think I found our target." She pointed at a large pyramid in the distance.

"Well, looks like we got a bit of a walk," Sonic sighed as the team began the long trek to the pyramid.
