Following their intense battle on Yoshi's Island, Team Mario warped themselves and the Yoshi Tribe to safety before Mecha Sonic destroyed the island. But a side-effect of Chaos Control teleported them farther than expected.

Now, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Sonic, and Shadow are in another world, with the emeralds in their possession gone, the Yoshi Tribe missing, and Mecha Sonic at large. But with the heroes of this world, can they solve their problems? Or will Mecha Sonic get the last laugh?
