Super Mario Bros Z: Equestria Saga

Watching over Ponyville was a tall blue robot. The robot gazed at the small town not too far from where he was at.

Mecha Sonic stood over a cliffside, his body still as his dead optics stared into the distance, and seemingly the unknown. "Those blasted heroes, getting in my way." his metallic hand curled into a fist, "When I find them, I will crush them." the robot turned around, scanning his surroundings once more.

"This is not the Mushroom Kingdom. I must investigate more." with that he curled into a large spiky ball and took to the skies, uncurling and activating his jet thrusters, flying through the clear, blue skies to find answers now.

His optics scanned something in what looked to be a small town, "A Chaos Emerald? Here? Hmm. Perhaps Sonic and his friends are more incompetent than I gave them credit for. Whatever they did, they already lost the emeralds in their possession." he chuckled darkly, "Now, I shall reach my fullest potential yet."

"Um... Any ideas, Twi?" Spike got no answer, scratching his head confusingly. "Twi? Starlight?" he tried knocking on the door again, louder this time. His fist slammed repeatedly as he tried to get the mares' attention.

When the door creaked open, Spike saw Twilight, goggles over her eyes and her horn lit up, in the aura was a strange gem. "Yes, Spike?" she asked.

"Any luck on what that gem is? Cause it looks really delicious." the dragon wondered, rubbing his stomach.

The alicorn shook her head, "Sorry, Spike. But we can't do anything with it until we figure out why it appeared on the Crystal Map like that in such a surge of magic or whatever summoned it here. Such a phenomenon is rare and unknown to inanimate objects, besides the Elements of Harmony of course. But this... We've tried examining it a few times over." a sigh escaped her lips, raising the goggles for a moment.

The door opened, revealing Starlight as she looked over the magic readings, with books and papers scattered about. "Hm... It just doesn't add up. Our data and our research... There's no connection with the properties of this gem based on what we found."

Twilight rubbed her head, "That doesn't make sense."

Spike folded his arms, "You're telling me..."

"Gems aren't known for teleporting like that, especially on the map." noted the alicorn with a quiet mutter. "Something is definitely off. We even detected a huge surge of energy coming from it moments ago. That's not normal."

Starlight agreed, "Yeah. And we just have to figure out where it came from."

Then, a loud crash was heard, prompting Twilight and Starlight to shield themselves and Spike from any harm. Coming from the now broken ceiling was a blue spiky orb, spinning as it made its descent into the castle. At last, he uncurled himself, revealing his true form to the Equestrians.

The Equestrians took a step back, frightened by his intimidating appearance. "What!?" Twilight blurted out.

The robot pointed at the gem, "The Chaos Emerald. You will hand it over to me if you value your lives." he scanned the ponies and dragon and the gem lying on the table.

"Chaos Emerald?" Starlight repeated quietly.

"That is correct. If you do not give it to me, I will have no choice but to destroy you weak beings," Mecha Sonic declared.

"And what will happen if we do?" Twilight asked sternly.

Mecha Sonic activated his mini-gun arm, "That shall be up to you to decide, foolish equine."

"Then, the answer is no."

In the blink of an eye, Mecha Sonic dashed forward and kneed Twilight in the chin, launching her in the air. "Twilight!" gasped Starlight and Spike, seeing Mecha Sonic grab her by the throat and slam her head first onto the floor of her own home. Twilight coughed in an attempt to pick herself back up.

"I warned you." Mecha stated simply.

Then, Mecha Sonic got pushed aside, releasing Twilight, who was assisted by Spike. Starlight had used a magical barrier to shove the robot aside, allowing her friend to breathe. "What sorcery is this?" he asked, pushing against the barrier, creating small cracks upon the aura remnant Starlight made.

"Unicorn magic." Starlight revealed, trying to muster as much energy as she could against Mecha Sonic, but the robot proved to be strong as he continued to break the shield she forged. The unicorn gritted her teeth, hearing more crackles from the aura.

Then, the shield broke, and Starlight felt Mecha Sonic's wrath. The blue robot gave the unicorn a right hook before curling into a ball and Spin-Dashing on her barrel, tossing her backwards with ease. Before she recovered, Mecha then activated his back thrusters and chased after Starlight, hopping into the air and kicking her with both of his feet, launching her faster than before.

Starlight got enough energy to perform her levitation spell and flew back after Mecha Sonic, ignoring the small pain she felt on her chest. The unicorn shot a beam of magic upon Mecha Sonic, but the robot swiped it aside, burning a hole in the wall as a result. Using one arm, he choked Starlight and threw her through the doors of the room and into the wall in the hallway.

As fast as she could, Starlight flew back with her spell and attempted to strike back at Mecha Sonic. The robot felt himself stagger at the feeling of a magic shot upon his back. "Who dares?!"

Twilight unfurled her wings and shoulder-tackled Mecha Sonic, but the robot was seemingly unfazed by the attack. With his elbow, Mecha Sonic spun his body around so that not only did Twilight feel his elbow connect with her cheek, but his leg with her side, his entire torso spinning around as he performed his combo.

"How fast is he?!" Spike asked in disbelief.

Mecha Sonic then curled into a ball and flew upwards, cartwheel-kicking Twilight while she ascended from the previous attack, slamming her back upon the ground. Starlight chased after the blue attack robot and headbutted him, hurting her head in the process. Mecha chuckled, "Did you really think the two of you could stand against me? I was created to be the ultimate weapon. I already scanned your power levels, and although stronger than I anticipated, like the annoying heroes before, you are still weaker than my might."

Starlight then noticed the bullets coming out of Mechs Sonic's arm-cannon and shielded herself from them as much as she could. Bullets sprang off her forcefield as she used her spell to readh higher and then she bucked the robot's torso, making him move back slightly. "You threatened and attacked my friend... I'm not standing back. I'll make sure you don't get that supposed Chaos Emerald."

"Starlight!" Twilight yelled, creating a bubble while she flew and bumping into Mecha Sonic, who curled into a ball and shattered the magic field like glass, particles fragmenting into the air. "How...?" she muttered, feeling Mecha choke her once again. The alicorn grunted, kicking her hooves upon Mecha's metallic body.

"A unicorn with wings, even in the world I had arrived from, that is quite a phenomenon." Mecha complimented bluntly, tightening his grip on Twilight. "Such a shame I have to eliminate you for your transgression."

Twilight choked out, "You... Won't get away..."

Mecha Sonic chuckled, "Oh, foolish mare. I already have!" he threw the alicorn aside, prompting Starlight to carry her with her own magic. The two scowled at the bragging robot, "I have already destroyed one world and in the process of another. Such a shame those heroes couldn't come to you in time."

Starlight grunted and created a small blade of magic and attempted to slice Mecha Sonic, but the robot held up his arms, deflecting the blade. He then lunged forward and hit the two of them with a well-timed Spin-Dash, moving them faster than they could react, pushing them upwards even higher into the sky through the hole he made. "Ah!" the two screamed, trying to shield themselves before they got shredded.

Mecha Sonic uncurled and gave Twilight a right hook as she flew forward, before kicking Starlight from behind, failing to sneak up on him. The two of them wheezed and panted, wondering how to even damage the robot. "What... Are you?" asked Twilight in between small breaths.

The robot pointed his arm cannon forward, "Mecha Sonic. The last name you will ever hear. Once I obtain the Chaos Emerald, my wrath shall be felt across two worlds."

As he chraged his arm cannon to eliminate the two equines, he suddenly found himself enveloped in a white light, and he vanished from his spot. Twilight and Starlight's horns were glowing and they sighed, having teleported Mecha Sonic to a remote location far away from any civilization for a short while. "We need to find a way to stop him..." declared the alicorn.

"The Chaos Emerald. He made it sound like it had power. We need to make sure nothing happens to it." Starlight realized. Twilight nodded in agreement and they hovered back into the room, wondering how they were going to fix the ceiling,

Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Sonic, and Shadow found themselves at the edge of the forest at last. Mario hummed and frowned, he then pointed something out to Sonic, who responded, "You don't recognize that? Huh, then in that case, we should check it out and see where we're at."

Sonic then looked to the radar, "Woah... The radar's detecting an emerald there."

"Yoshi Yoshi!" said Yoshi.

The blue hedgehog smirked, "Same here, Yoshi. Might as well see for ourselves."

Luigi then muttered something else, and rubbed his cap. Sonic shook his head, "If they plan on attacking us, then they messed with the wrong team. If we can take on Mecha Sonic, then we'll be fine." he assured the younger plumber.

"Enough boasring, Sonic. Let's just get the emerald and leave." Shadow huffed, skating ahead of the others.

"Oh, great." muttered Sonic.

The team all ran into the town, hoping that gaining the Chaos Emerald would be easier this time than the moments before.
