Chapter 7: Sunset meets King Kai
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI had been running for a long time. I looked up to see a small planet floating in the air. I used what energy I had left to land on the planet. I could barely stand, I felt tremendous pressure forcing me. I flared my aura up allowing me to stand. I saw a figure approach me, his body was blue and he was considerably shorter than I was. I asked “Are you King Kai?”
He replied “Yes I am, you wish to be trained by me, correct?” I nodded as I bowed. He chuckled “Normally, I would make you tell me a funny joke but you have come a long way I can see your commitment, we should get started right away.”
I asked “Can I start tomorrow? I have been running non-stop across Snake Way to get here.” I collapsed to the ground and all went black.
I woke in a bed, I saw King Kai sitting there along with a monkey and a cricket. I sat up. I asked “King Kai, why is it so hard to stand on this planet?”
He replied “Because there is higher level of gravity on this planet than Earth has and therefore it’s harder.”
I asked “Um, I have very little experience with martial arts, I only gained access to energy control a few days ago.”
King Kai frowned at me as he said “Well then show me what you do know, I’ll be waiting, you have 15 minutes.” He walked out of the building.
I took 10 minutes to get myself ready and left the building. He asked “Show me what you know!” I was about to start when I felt something behind me. I turned around to see a shadow attacking me. Memories of movements flowed through my head, dodge, counter, duck, solar cannon. This continued on for some time, then the shadow dispersed. King Kai said “That was a memory shadow, it is there to remind you of an aspect of your past. That was strange though the skills you showed were of someone with billions of years of training experience.”
I blinked, there is no way I had that much experience it made no sense. King Kai said “I’m impressed by your capabilities, I will give you 1 simple task, catch Bubbles, my monkey.” I blinked that was weird, yet I knew better than to question it, he knew more than me, I chased the monkey but no matter how hard I tried I was always 1 step behind him, the gravity was weighing me down too much.
I stopped running to catch my breath. King Kai said “That was quite impressive.”
I replied sadly “But I didn’t catch him, I failed.”
He laughed heartily “No one ever catches him on their first day here, in fact most of the time he is literally running circles around, you only were 1 step behind, if he made a single mistake you would have got him.” He beckoned me to follow him, I saw a huge bowl of rice with chop sticks at either side.
I grabbed the chop sticks and fumbled them. King Kai chuckled “You really don’t know how to use chop sticks?” I sat there as he slowly instructed me on how to do it. After about 1 hour I finally was able to eat.
I asked “Umm, can I communicate with my friends to see if they're okay?”
He smiled as he said “Normally I wouldn’t but I will this one time.”
After talking to my friends, I asked “Could you teach me telepathy?”
He replied “Are you sure you can do it?” I nodded and for the rest of the day I practised telepathy with him.
He asked “(How did you grasp telepathy so fast, it normally takes years?)”
I replied “(I already have empathetic powers, it just needed a slight re-purposing to adjust to the role.)” He was surprised at the fact I had empathetic powers. I continued “(My power is magical in nature, that’s why it behaves differently.)”
He laughed as he said “(Magic, that’s your explanation ?)” I sent him a few telepathic images of my memories. He stared at me before asking “(Are you really a unicorn?)” I nodded. He closed the link and we both went to bed. I reached out using my telepathy and found my way back home, I found Pinkie’s dream. I dozed off while keeping the link open.
I found myself in Pinkie’s dream world. I shouted “Pinkie!”
I watched as a Pink Blur bumped into me, she shouted “I missed you so much, you are really important to me.”
I asked confused “What do you mean by that?”
She replied nervously “I think I like you, I don’t know.” I blinked before thinking back to 3 months ago.
We were having a sleepover, the rest of our friends were busy going out on dates or doing work. Me and Pinkie were at her apartment, she was very huggy that day, even more than usual. She didn’t let go of me unless I needed to go to the toilet, I chalked it up to Pinkie being Pinkie and we watched a movie. I didn’t realise how quiet Pinkie was that day, she barely spoke; her usual jumpiness was gone in favour of just hugging me.
I stared at Pinkie who was watching me intensely, I blushed profusely at the realisation of what she was doing that night, we even slept in the same bed. I said “Well since I’m here we have 3 months to make up for, I haven't been in a relationship since Flash and that was only for the position.” I did like Pinkie, she and I had done everything together over the last 6 months. I smiled as we were no longer in a field of crazy madness but in a fine restaurant. We were both wearing fine dresses.
Pinkie smiled at me, it was a warm smile, not her usual excited smile. I must admit in a fine dress Pinkie looked beautiful, I felt myself blush slightly at the thought. A waiter approached us, he asked “What is your order?”
Pinkie said happily “A huge cake.” I should have known that would be her order.
He asked “What about you miss?’
I replied “I would like to have some fish and some chips, please?” He nodded to us and he left.
I asked “What do you like about me?”
Pinkie replied sadly “Your, kind considerate and you don’t think I’m too silly all the time. Too many people think that, I just want people to have fun.”
That hurt, I didn’t think being taken seriously meant so much to her. I said “I think we all need to talk about this, thank you for telling me.” I felt warm inside, she told me something personal. I am confident this will continue.
Pinkie asked “What if they reject me?”
I replied “I understand it’s hard to face your friends, I know it isn’t easy but I will be there with you.” She turned away with an uncharacteristic shyness about her. Curse her pink skin, I can’t tell if she’s blushing or not.
She said “Thank you Sunset, you're a good friend.”
I replied seductively “Pinkie, maybe one day we will be more than friends.” I watched as Pinkie tried to kiss me. I pushed her away slightly as I said “Maybe we should wait until it’s the real me, I hardly want my first kiss to be in a dream.”
Pinkie sighed as she said “Your right, I am just eager six months is a long time to be longing, I’m not sure I can wait another year.”
I said with a smirk “Well, maybe when I get back we can skip the kissing, consider it your reward for being patient.” I watched as Pinkie jumped out of her chair with a smile.
Once she settled down our food arrived. I was eating formally, unfortunately Pinkie doesn’t seem to understand formal dining, she was stuffing food and the cake into her mouth like a machine. I smiled at her, she was always able to keep me smiling, I think that’s what I like about her most, she is the light that brings me joy.
