Last Chance

Underground Judgment Hall

The radiant hall where the megalomaniac stood was empty. The fight took longer than it expected but it was finally done. Chara finally snapped a bone. After endless retries of combat: bones piercing, blasters disintegrating and knives slashing, their determination served them well...

But there was something wrong.

"Hmmm.. that should've done the job. Why am I still at Level 19? I reduced that comedian to dust. I should have leveled up," said the irritated demon child Chara.

Of course, Chara was not alone. Before she came into the picture, an innocent child who wouldn't even hurt a fly was named Frisk. Hence her name, it means to search or inspect. That is what she is good at. Her abilities include not only being able to come back after dying, but also checking monster stats. The ability also applies to humans so in short, it is a HUGE advantage for both Frisk and Chara because they can see what they're made of and how strong they are. The power of DETERMINATION can be lethal if it's in the wrong hands, which, it is. It's in the hands of a megalomaniac which its sole purpose is to take lives of the innocent just for entertainment.

"Whatever happened to Sans, I hope he's alright. Please Chara, stop. I don't want this anymore," pleaded Frisk.

"Have you forgotten already? You chose this path. You awakened me. Are you really that naive, Frisk? It was your choice, not mine. I was just encouraging you to go on so that the path you chose wouldn't go to waste. That would just take out all the FUN you're having.

Those screams... ohhhh. Music to my ears. You don't know how much I've been waiting for this day. Souls crying out in agony and in pain. I could never had such an audience like that ever again.... and don't bother being your innocent self again. I CONTROL you now."

Frisk was right. She started this path but she hoped to turn back soon until she awakened Chara who was on a relentless search for blood. After killing Toriel, Frisk felt something or someone trying to take control. It was time for Chara to resurface, to redeem herself, to cause havoc and pain to everyone who stands in her way. A demon who ironically, descended from above. Frisk could no longer have her own self again. She was possessed. She regretted every single thing she did because she was only curious and she didn't mean it to go that far. Now it's too late turn back. Hopelessness and regret was weighing down on Frisk's shoulders as she tried to stay DETERMINED, but she can't.

"So... to find this comedian. How about you Frisk? You have any idea where he is?, Chara asked.

"Umm... I don't really know. We saw him bleed then he went to go to Grillby's and after that... poof. He was gone."

"Well, my guess is that he's not dead... yet. We are supposed to be at Level 20 by now but it seems the skeleton wants more... FUN, don'tcha think Frisk?, Chara asked with a chuckle.

"Absolutely not, Chara! I will not let Sans experience another demise coming from the likes you," Frisk said with a vexed look.

"Did you forget? SINCE WHEN WERE YOU THE ONE IN CONTROL?," Chara gave Frisk a smile with dark liquid dripping from her mouth, empty eyes filled with dread and horror.

"I control this body now, Frisk. Nothing can keep us apart. We are in one vessel.
Now to find that weak skeleton who you called friend," Chara said.

Frisk has no other choice but to follow... for now. She will do everything to make things right again, even if it means costing her own life. She just hopes that Sans is okay wherever he is right now.

"I hope you're ready again for Chara, Sans," Frisk said in thought of herself.

CAFETERIA

The sound of students chattering and the smell of food being served was really getting to the short skeleton. Sunset told him that he would wait in line while she would join her friends at the table near the windows. The moment Sans walked into the cafeteria, some students looked at him at complete shock. Sans tried not to make a first impression as if it might cause some serious scream treatment. He just went on like it was a normal day for him and started to get in line.

In between the line, students in the front and back made a 5-feet distance from him. Guess he couldn't really blame them. Sans couldn't help but feel a little awkward with the food placed on his tray. It had a slice of meat, a flat one with a red slice of tomato, a green piece of lettuce on it and a slice of cheese, which the students called "sandwich". Next to his 'sandwich' was a carton filled orange drink and three ketchup packets which he asked for. He was glad that ketchup was still relevant to this new world; basically, because it was his personal favorite. After he got out of line, he couldn't see where bacon hair went off to, due to the fact that the students were surprisingly taller than him. They were as the same height of his brother, Papyrus, but not much taller than Toriel. He decided to find an empty table of his own, if there is any. To his surprise, there was one table that was a few steps right next him. He sat down and began to inspect this so called 'sandwich'.

"interesting," Sans thought as he took a bite and chewed slowly, hoping it was not as worse as Pap's spaghetti.
"heh. sorry, pap".

As he finished the chewing process, he find it that it was okay. Not as great as Pap's pasta, but it had a flavor that he never tasted before. After settling down his sandwich, he took the carton filled drink and gulped it. It tasted a little sour but most of the flavor is dominated by sweetness.

"not bad," Sans said as he finished the whole carton and went to his favorite part of the meal: KETCHUP

He began to tear open the first packet and begins to gulp down the red substance and then took another one and the last one. The sound of his gulping made some students cast weird eyes to him but Sans shrugged and began to eat his sandwich again. While he was minding his own business, what he doesn't know is that a group of girls including Sunset was watching him, with eyes raised.

BEFORE SANS ENTERED THE CAFETERIA

Sunset entered the cafeteria first to join her friends. She left Sans to himself because he needed to take a 5 minute stroll around the school again. He wanted to check the place on his own now so he would stop questions about where is this and that. It was okay with Sunset and she reminded him of.... first impression. Sunset went ahead of him and decided to join the girls. She sat right next to her friends.

Next to her was a light-pink haired girl who wore a white tank top and a lime green skirt with printed butterfly designs on it. Boots also colored in light green with teal colored eyes. In her pink hair, she had a butterfly shaped hair clip on one side. The girl's name is Fluttershy.

Beside her sits a rainbow haired girl with magenta colored eyes. Her shirt seems to be having a colorful lightning bolt design on it with her blue jacket overlaying it. She also wears a light magenta and white skirt, black shorts, rainbow-patterned socks and blue boots. She is known as Rainbow Dash.

On the edge of the seat was a pink haired girl with poofy hair and with sky-blue eyes. Wears a white shirt with short blue sleeves and a pink heart embedded on the white shirt. Light pink skirt with balloons printed on it, which were colored with blue and yellow patterns. Also wearing blue boots with pink bow ties on each of them. Pinkie Pie is her name.

On the other side of the table, there were three girls including Sunset. The one at the edge was an elegant girl who had flowing purple hair with a diamond shaped hair clip on one side of her hair. Her makeup is.... well, how do you describe it? Let's just say... it is fashionable. Her face, which consisted of delicate eyelashes, a little bit of light blue eyeshadow. Eyes that will make you gaze at her for a long time, dark blue eyes that is like the ocean. She wears a light violet skirt with diamonds printed on it and with dark violet boots with a diamond on each one. Her name is Rarity.

Sitting next to her was another girl. She had blonde hair with a brown Stetson hat on top. Green eyes with a few freckles on her face. Wears a green and white polo with sleeves rolled back, a blue skirt with pockets and an apple design on her belt, brown boots with apple designs on it. She goes by the name of Applejack.

Second to the last was a girl who has long purple hair with a pink streak flowing down her hair, with moderate violet eyes covered by a pair of eyeglasses. Her attire consists of a cyan shirt with a red-violet bow tie, skirt also colored in violet with a star symbol on it, cyan colored socks, and shoes with also a star symbol on it. This girl's name is Twilight Sparkle.

And finally, Sunset Shimmer.

After Sunset came back from touring Sans, she sat down with her friends. As soon as she sat down, the pink, poofy haired girl was the first to speak:

"Sunset-what-happened? why-were-you-called-by-Principal-Celestia? did-you-get-in-trouble? if-so-then-what? there-are-so-many-thi-," Pinkie was finally stopped by Applejack by placing her hand onto the energetic Pinkie Pie's mouth.

"Sugarcube, let Sunset here talk, alright?", Applejack suggested.

"Okie dokie," Pinkie replied.

Sunset gathered all her thoughts and she spoke.

"Thanks, Applejack... and no Pinkie, I didn't get into trouble. I was actually called to give someone a tour of the place."

"Another new student? Here? Well, I'll be. It's been ah' while since we had someone new here at CHS? What did he or she look like?", Applejack asked.

"Actually, you won't believe that I, possibly, had the most interesting tour in my whole life. It was surprising at first but later it went actually well and not to mention, it was 'SANS-ational'," Sunset joked.

The girls just exchanged looks with each other, confused at Sunset.

"Uhhh.... what?", Rainbow Dash asked with her left eyebrow raised.

"Sorry girls. It was a fun tour with Sans. He really kno-", Sunset was cut off by Applejack.

"Hold on just a minute, Sunset. So the new student's name is... Sans?" Twilight asked as it is a strange name.

"Yup," Sunset replied with a smile.

"Sans? What kind of name is that?," Rainbow Dash snorted.

"Darling, don't be rude. If his name is like that, then don't be disrespectful. We are all given certain names for a reason, even if it is the strangest of ones," Rarity told Rainbow Dash.

"Well, sorry," Rainbow said.

"Ahem. As I was saying, Sans really knows how to make someone laugh. I guess Pinkie needs to step up her game now. He even made Principal Celestia laugh until she cried laughing."

"REALLY?," the girls shouted in unison.

"Yup. Along the tour, he was cracking up jokes and I couldn't help but laugh," Sunset giggled.

"This Sans must be really funny, huh?", Fluttershy said in a low voice.

"Yeah. I can't wait to meet him. So, where is he?", Pinkie asked with excitement in her voice.

Just then, a door squeaked from the entrance of the cafeteria.

"Well, I guess you're about to find out girls," Sunset said.

There, they saw him. The girls, with eyes wide open and jaws dropped, couldn't believe what they are seeing right now. Rarity slowly spoke to Sunset about what in Equestria were they looking at.

"Sunset..... What.... is.... that?," Rarity asked with each pause in every word she said.

"That's Sans." Sunset said plainly.

"WHAT?", the girls said all at once.

"B-but wh-why is he l-like th-that?", Fluttershy said stuttering.

"Oh, I forgot to mention. He's a skeleton. That's why I was surprised at first glance, but he's nice once you get to know him."

"Does he have a skin condition, Sunset? Cause I'm sure as heck I've seen nothing like that before," Rainbow said as she was freaking out.

"Actually, he's.... what you call a monster I presume? But please girls, don't judge him by how he looks. Just give him a chance by being normal around him. We are supposed to be a friendly school, remember? We have a reputation to uphold," Sunset explained to the girls.

"Ah guess..... you're right sugarcube. We'll give this a shot," Applejack nodded.

"Well... if he's nice, I guess we should try at least," Fluttershy suggested.

"Great. I'm proud of you girls. Now Pin-,"

Sunset stopped mid-sentence as she just noticed that Pinkie just disappeared from their presence. The girls were also shocked.

"Ummm... where's Pinkie?" Rainbow asked.

Sans was enjoying his sandwich which he almost finished until a pink figure appeared next to her. Sans looked at her with a grin and settled the sandwich down.

"you really know how to make a first impression here, don't you pal?"

The pink haired girl, fueled with energy like no other, spoke to Sans with a joyful tone in her voice.

"You must be the new student here, right? My name is Pinkie Pie, party planner of the school."

Sans held out his hand and offered it to the energetic girl.
"the name's sans. sans the skeleton."

"Pleased to me-," Pinkie Pie was cut off by a fart sound that yet again, emerged from Sans' left hand. She heard this and started to giggle, with Sans chuckling.

"Hahahaha.... good one. It's nice to have someone who has a sense of humor around here. I like you already Sans," Pinkie said with a smile.

Sans was surprised that a pink, poofy haired girl just walked up to her, introduced herself, shook his hand, laughed and she already likes him. 'heh. so much for making a first impression," Sans thought.

"i like you too bud, and thanks for being... you.

"Huh? What do you mean 'being you?", Pinkie asked in confusion.

"no kid. not me.. you," Sans replied.

"But you said 'you' and you're saying that you is me. I don't get it," Pinkie said with a grin on her face.

"kid. i don't know what to think anymore," Sans said as he is ready to give up.

Suddenly, Pinkie laughed. Sans sat there in confusion, bewildered as to why she would just laugh out of no reason.

"I was just messing with you Sans. I know what you meant by being 'me'. Sunset told me and the others that since you're the first monster student here, she suggested that we give you a chance at being treated like a normal student. Normally, other people aren't comfortable into talking skeletons, but you seem like a nice guy." Pinkie had an idea that popped in her head.

"Hey, you wanna come over to our table? Sunset's there with us," Pinkie insisted.

"oh, sure pal. i would like to meet your friends too. i would like to know more about you and the others you say," Sans replied with a big smile.

"Great. Now come on!," Pinkie exclaimed and grabbed Sans' right hand with force.

"woah, woah kid. slow down. i can walk, you know." Sans said as he brought the tray with him.

As the girls saw Pinkie dragging the figure, they settled themselves down and they prepared what was about to come to them. As soon as Pinkie and the skeleton arrive, Pinkie sat next to Sans. Before Sans even knew it, he was beside an exuberant girl and a rainbow colored hair girl. Sunset was the first to speak up.

"Hey Sans," Sunset said with her beamed smile.

"hey sunset," Sans replied with a grin.

"So, I guess you already know Pinkie Pie here. She can really be open to others, such as you."

"so I've assumed."

"Mah name's Applejack. It's ah pleasure to meet ya," Applejack said as she lowered her hat.

"Hi. I'm Twilight Sparkle."

"The name's Rainbow Dash."

"Pleasure to meet you. My name's Rarity."

"M-My n-name is Flu-Fluttershy," a barely audible voice can be heard from Fluttershy.

"i'm taking she's the shy one here?" Sans asked.

"Yup, but try to be a little careful when approaching her. She's sensitive," Sunset said.

"i'll keep that in mind."

"Since we've introduced ourselves, tell us a little more about you Sans," Rarity suggested.

"well. as you can already see, i'm a skeleton. i'm supposed to be dead but not me. i just wanna thank all of you for giving me a chance to be treated like a normal student like you all."

"No worries, darling. We are a friendly institution and we, CHS students, want to make every school year memorable for us. And it seems to me that this will be a very interesting year for us, don't you agree girls?", Rarity asked.

The girls nodded in response.

"yeah. interesting indeed." Sans said in thought as he kept remembering the job that he's supposed to finish.

As soon as they finish conversing with each other, the school bell rang. It is time to go back to classes and Sans was the first to volunteer in leaving first because he needs some time to think about what move will he make next.

"welp, that's my cue. since it's my first time here, i'm gonna go ask celly for a schedule of my classes. see ya' later," Sans said as he walked out of the cafeteria along with the other students. The six girls were the only ones left.

"What did he just call Principal Celestia?", Rainbow and Twilight snickered.

"He is a bit rude for a skeleton," Rarity added.

"It's his first time here, Rarity. I'm sure he was just joking around," Rainbow said as he gave Rarity a light elbow nudge.

"Hmmm... I suppose."

"I guess we should go now. I don't want to be late for classes," Fluttershy said in her normal voice again since no one was around.

As they were about to depart, Sunset remembered what Sans gave to her in the band room. His address. Everything will be explained. If she wants, she could take her friends to know why Sans is really here. Sunset felt that something bad was about to happen very soon as to why Sans acted so serious then. He didn't want to talk about it but since he insisted, it's her choice to whether know the truth or just leave it be. She caught with the girls and explained it to them.

"You want us to come with you to his house? Well, count me in. I want to know where he lives," Rainbow said in her hyped voice.

"I suggest that we should all go. We need to at least know more about Sans if he is going to be our friend," Rarity said.

"Okay, it's settled. We all go. Let's meet at the courtyard after school is over," Sunset finally settled the decision. Although, some part of her knew that they're not going to like what they're gonna hear from Sans. She just hopes that it does not require some saving-the-world type of thing. They could use a little break from everything they've been through: Battle of the Bands, Friendship Games, Camp Everfree. They've been through a lot, from saving everyone from being hypnotized to saving the camp from Gaia Everfree. It was hard days work. As the school being a magical place, she thought that things will never be the same again since Sans came. There is something coming, no doubt. Something that will be much more of a threat than all of the events they faced.

Soon, the truth will be revealed.
