I gaze out the window on the car ride to Rainbow's house. I guess she doesn't care if we skip school, does she care more about me? Nah that can't be it. She probably just wanted an excuse to ditch so she used me.

Yep, sounds about right.

Why is she being so nice to me? Nobody's nice to me. I'm a worthless and pathetic human, so why would anyone bother to be my friend let alone help or talk to me?

I just want to be alone. Alone to my thoughts, alone so I can vomit everything up until it's just acid, alone to self-harm as much as I want, I just want to be alone like I have been my whole life.

But not everybody can get what they want. Especially if there’s someone named Rainbow Dash.

• At Rainbow's house -

~3rd person~

Rainbow parks in her driveway and gets out first to assist her wounded friend. She helps her inside and tosses her car keys on the side table by the door.

"W-wow your house is so fancy and huge" said Em in amazement.

"It's not that fancy, but it is a bit too big for just me and my mom to live in though" she replied while helping Em move to the living room.

"Your mom? I told you I didn't wanna come here; I don't wanna be a both-"

"Em stop it, my mom is away on a business trip for a while and even if she was here, she wouldn't mind at all that I brought a friend over" said Rainbow while setting her down on the couch.

Em furrows her brows, "I'm your friend?" She questioned.

"W-well y-ya, to me you are at least"

Em nods and looks down at her feet playing with the sleeves of her shirt.

"You sit here, I'll be right back" says Rainbow as she leaves briefly.

Em just twiddled her thumbs keeping her head down, thinking if she should really trust Rainbow or not. After all she did bring her into her own house. Not just anybody does that right?

Soon Rainbow returns with a small first aid kit and sits in front of Em.

Rainbow goes to clean a small open cut on Em’s hand, Em flinches and pulls her hand slightly away as the disinfectant touched the open wound.

"Sorry, it'll only sting for a second" said Rainbow with sympathy in her tone.

Em sighs but brings her hand back so Rainbow could finish.

"Rainbow, why are you helping me?" Em unenthusiastically blurted out.

"Because, it seemed like you needed a friend" Rainbow replied still focused on Em’s small wound.

Em looked out a nearby window and quietly mumbled, "Nobody wants to be my friend"

Rainbow shook her head in disbelief, "I want to be your friend,"

Em looked to Rainbow with a confused face.

"Listen, I may have only known you for a short while but in that short timespan I've come to learn a few things about you"

Em scoffed, "you don't know me"

"But don't you see Em? I'm trying to get to know you, I want to be friends but you aren't letting me in. I can't stand seeing people battle things alone" pleads Rainbow.

"I'm not battling anything" Em continues to look out the window.

"Bullshit" Rainbow says bluntly while closing up the first aid kit.

Em doesn't answer.

"You know you won't win against me. You can say that crap to anybody else but not me, I'm not stupid and I'm sure as hell not giving up on you" Rainbow adds.

Em huffs in annoyance but still keeping her attention to the window.

"Don't you sigh at me missy," Rainbow says trying to get Em to smile because if she thinks about it, she hasn't seen Em smile once since she's met her.

"Look at me" Rainbow tries.

No movement.

"Emma, look at me!" Rainbow tries again.

Em sharply turns her head to Rainbow with wide eyes that are getting glossy from tears.

"It's. Em." She replies sternly but can't hide the fear, she starts to hyperventilate and tear up.

"Whoa whoa whoa Em I'm sorry, please don't cry" says Rainbow with concern in her voice as she tried to give Em a comforting side hug but Em flinched away and burst out crying.

"Don't hurt me!" She screamed putting her hands over her head.

Rainbow put her hands where Em could see them to show that she truly meant no harm to the fragile girl.

"You pathetic waste! Why can't you do what you're told and just kill yourself already!"

"Em, I'm not gonna hurt you" Rainbow said in a soft tone, a little afraid and confused as to why Em is screaming like this.

"I'm s-sorry! I-I'll c-clean up the h-house like y-you told me t-to! I-I promise I'll get it d-done, please j-just don't h-hurt me!"

Em shook and trembled while crying and backing away from Rainbow because all she could see was her drunken enraged mother standing before her.

"This time you're really gonna get it Emma!"

"Em listen I'm not gonna hurt you, you're safe okay? You need to calm down" Rainbow tries slowly to get closer to Em.

"I'm sorry! I'm s-sorry I'm pathetic and a disgrace! I'm s-sorry to disappoint you, P-please I'm s-sorry, d-don't hurt m-me!" Em cried out while shuffling back until she hits a wall.

Rainbow is so scared, hurt, and confused on what to do and on what is wrong with her friend.

"I will make sure you never see the light of day again you annoying useless fuck!"

Em was begging for her life, full of tears and was violently shaking. It was a good thing that Rainbow was close to her because at that moment, Em had fainted from fear. Rainbow caught her and laid her down on the couch.

"Em! Em talk to me are you okay? Em wake up!" Rainbow was full of fear. "What had just happened?" She thought. Rainbow pushed that aside and ran to the bathroom for a damp face cloth. She ran back to Em and kneeled by her and put the cloth on her forehead, moving the brown and blue hair out of her eyes.

"Fuck fuck fuck, what just happened?!" Rainbow cursed. So many things went through her head at that point. "Why was she so afraid of me? Why was she looking at me like I was some sort of monster? All I did was call him by her full name. Why was she pleading for me to not hurt her? Why why why?!" She thought. Rainbow thought so hard she started to get a headache.

Rainbow looked back to Em and seen a bit of her shirt rolled up, with something there that was slightly showing. She furrowed her eyebrows and pulled it up a bit more to reveal big dark purple and blue bruises that were scattered across her stomach. Rainbow gasped at what she had just seen.

"Who could've done this to you Em?" She thought rubbing gently over the bruises with her thumb. It was unexplainable as to what Rainbow felt for this lonely fragile girl that she had met only weeks ago.

She felt sorrow, she felt anger and hatred to whoever did this to her. But she also felt something more powerful than all those emotions,

She felt love.
