Twilight sat next to Cecil, Cecil sighed “Well let’s get started then…”

Ten billion years ago, the universe was in it’s infancy a world was born out deep in space, an unusual world it was for there was no star of even another planet or body to accompany it. This planet was the a ball of flaming lava and magic, born out of this mix came a mighty race which came to be known as Dragons, after 6 billion years their Great King Inferno and my father bore forth two sons, me and my older brother Golbez both who became part of one of the dragon clans, known as the Changeling Clan for their ability to shapeshift into inanimate objects and to change colours at will.

Twilight interrupted excitedly “Wait so Changelings are dragons, that is an amazing discovery!”

Cecil frowned “The Changelings you know most are something else which I will explain later.” Cecil continued to recite history…

Disaster would strike no less than twenty year s later, for you see two even more ancient races existed in the universe born out of the primordial essence that created the universe, one the Draconequi represented chaos and another the Alicorns represented Order

Twilight blinked “So that’s were Celestia and Luna came from.”

Cecil sighed “Look, we don’t have much time so let me finish my story and then you can ask all your questions later , write them in your notepad if you have too.” Twilight nodded as he started again.

The Draconequi approached us first and were genuine. The Alicorns however saw us as an affront to order and under the guise of peace tried to wipe us out, but me and my brother saw through their ruse, still no-one outside of our clan believed us so we evacuated our clan. We separated that day, my brother created the moon and escaped, my father and the rest of our kind save a few really weak clans which managed to escape their notice.

I on the other hand escaped to the frozen north which had just recently froze over. We built a mighty city in using our colour changing powers to hid in the frozen north, I then got married to my wife Rosa, it was 2 billion years later that I had my own son Ceodore. Unfortunately for me he was brave and when he grew he took off with a handful of Changelings who ended up in the hooves of the Alicorns despite my son giving his life to stop them, and centuries later the changelings you knew were created from them.

Cecil paused for a moment as he noticed Twilight crying, he sighed “Just so you know your Princesses weren’t involved in this.” Twilight nodded as she tried to dry her tears.

It was not long after an Alicorn arrived at the empire, her name was Pale Shield and she was captain of the Alicorn guard, she disagreed with how they were treated but was unable to stop them, she unfortunately knew not where they kept our brethren but she brought my son’s body back for the funeral, she kept an eye out and we managed to recover a few of my race from the Alicorns. I must admit she influenced my actions years later.

She was also that the one who guided to my adopted daughter’s location, it was thought to be a changeling experimentation camp but much to our shock there was nothing but a destroyed town, then I felt what seemed like a Draconequi and Alicorn deep in the depths, the Alicorn however was far more powerful than the Draconequi. I told my guards to let me enter alone, I wandered thought appeared to be a strange factory but the odd part was the large amount of research on Alicorns.

I arrived to see what had befallen the attackers but much to my shock there was a bloody Alicorn filly sitting in front of them glaring at an adolescent Draconequi who cowered in the corner. The Draconequi was Edge, I couldn’t believe the Alicorn filly could have such power, we grow in power with time but this was way too strong, it then clicked she was the experiment, they were trying to weaponise her and judging from the results they succeeded, I managed to get some friends to take care of Edge but due to her being an Alicorn, me and Rosa had to take care of her. Not long after that incident the world has begun to freeze, my father was what kept the planet warm, and I noticed this and took action, I crafted a massive ball of fire and light to keep the planet warm an sent it into the sky, you call this the sun.

Not much happened until one hundred thousand years ago when the Goddess of Disharmony arrived on Equis, we are still unsure of her origins other than she existed before the Universe and the Draconequi, Alicorns and even the new races such as the Goats and Centaurs, the goats were lead by dark lord Grogar while the Centaurs were led by the father of Tirek and Scorpan, King Vorak. Together we sealed her away in a distant galaxy.

Probably the next major event was the origin of the bugpony changelings which started as the as the ponies came into being twenty five thousand years ago when the Alicorns angered by what they considered poor imitations of their might unleashed their experiments releasing what you know as Changelings onto Ponykind which of course some of the drones captured by powerful unicorns were used to create the Wendigos.

Finally ten thousand years ago came the multiple big events, Grogar the Dark Lord tried to enslave the centaurs only for the Draconequi and Alicorns to stop him by sealing him away in a deep cave. Then Tirek overthrew his parents and started to steal the Alicorn's magic crippling the Alicorn Empire, finally Pale Shield defeating him only for the Draconequi to invade the weakened Empire a only for Pale Shield to bring out the magic spell Ordered World which almost wiped out the Draconequi race, I had gathered refugees from both incidents and they live in the Changeling Kingdom to this day.

Pale Shield left with her two friends, the hard-ass Lightning Strom and the fun loving Tremor Spirit, Pale Shield also raised to Alicorn fillies with help of a unicorn sorcerer known as Starswirl before vanishing into parts unknown, the last time we spoke she telling me to watch over the world and I’m sure you know the rest of what happened.

Twilight was just about to start asking questions when the train arrived in Canterlot, Rydia frowned “Twilight I’ll answer some of your questions, that story tires him out, a lot of bad memories.”
