“Hmm… I guess I can see that, but… do you two have another suggestion? I mean, I know it would be inconvenient, but for the baby's sake…”
“Actually, I've been doing some research, on magically coalesced psyche manifestations… uh, that seems to be the correct classification for Midnight, at least based on the Encyclopedia Canterlotia … right? Um, and if I've understood the theory correctly — and Midnight agrees with me on this, though I suppose in this case that kinda just means I'm agreeing with myself, but — um, anyway, I think it should be possible to perform a temporary possession transference, without any risk to the baby. I mean, to be honest I already suspected as such before I read up on the theory, but I've compiled a list of references for arguments for and against, and I feel like all the available research really backs me up on this, so… what do you think?”

Twilight grinned, but her hand squeezed Sunset's and stopped it descending further. “Sunset,” she chided.
Sunset chuckled. “Okay, well… if you're trying to transfer Midnight to me, can you do that without transforming first?”
“I was hoping you could perform the transfer, using your Daydream magic. I could use what I've learned to help isolate Midnight and make things easier, but I wouldn't actually use any of my own power.”
Sunset bit her own lip thoughtfully. “I'm not sure having Midnight and Daydream together in the same body would be a good idea. They'd either cancel out, or…”
“So, maybe someone else? A willing host, of course — someone who understands what they're agreeing to — but that should be possible, right?”
“Maybe… I mean, I'd like to check over the theory, to be sure — not that I don't trust you, just that it doesn't hurt to have a second pair of eyes… did you have someone in mind?”

Hearing Twilight's tone, Sunset shifted her thoughts from the technical aspects of transferring Midnight, to the personal implications if they succeeded. She gazed into Twilight's deep purple eyes, considering what would make her girlfriend hesitant about this.
“I guess it would be pretty intimate, huh? Midnight's a part of you, after all.”

The two lay still, eyes closed, until Twilight had almost drifted to sleep, when Sunset spoke again.

“I trust her completely,” ventured Twilight.

Rarity said nothing, but patiently waited for her two friends to reach a point.

“Uh…” Twilight said nothing more, but glanced nervously back and forth between Sunset and Rarity.
“Right here should be fine,” interceded Sunset, “we just need a little space.”
“Um,” Twilight raised a finger, “the thing is, I mean Midnight can conjure a costume, but… when I transform, usually any clothes I'm wearing get destroyed.”

“I think we can make that work,” said Sunset.

She had wings. Crystalline and blue, they glittered in the dim light. Her eyes widened, and she smiled — properly lit, and attired, she would look fabulous .
Twilight and Sunset sat in awkward silence, the image of “Midnight Rarity”, in all her full-frontal glory, still etched in their minds. “Radiant,” Twilight contributed.

Sunset didn't trust herself to speak.
Rarity's back garden was sheltered enough, Midnight felt, to allow her to leave the ground unnoticed. She stood on the lawn, glancing nervously at her wings.

She barely had time to register the surge, before the world dropped away from her suddenly. A tiny shriek escaped her mouth, and she clenched her eyes shut, as the air whipped around her. Then she felt stillness, the sound of rushing wind her only sensation.

Rarity felt warmth and comfort — Midnight's own confidence, shared with her. She opened her eyes, and gasped.
She stood on a landscape of white fluffiness, and endless blue sky above her. The clouds drifted lazily by as she found she could float just wherever she wanted to go. It was peaceful, beautiful in its simplicity.
A dot in the distance caught her eye.
remarked Midnight.
“Midnight…” said Rarity aloud, “thank you for showing me this.”
“You're welcome, Rarity.”
They blushed.
“It's fine, darling. I can't really say I mind you being attracted to me, even if you are rather forward.”
Rarity found herself grinning in a decidedly less than innocent fashion — Midnight's influence, she was certain. She had to admit, Midnight's interest was slightly thrilling. That, and sharing a body with someone like this, was exciting her far more than she'd anticipated.

Midnight waved their hand, and for a moment, Rarity saw stars, or maybe atoms, or maybe the stars were atoms. Then she was standing on a hillside, recoiling from the suspicion that she'd just glimpsed something powerful enough to obliterate her sanity if she'd stared at it a moment longer.
“Did… did we just teleport ?”
“Don't ever do that again!”
Rarity sighed. “Would you just stop already?”
Rarity glanced around, and found a conveniently shaped rock nearby to sit on. The rock was smooth, and pleasantly warmed by the sun. The view was pretty, and it seemed they were completely alone up here. Rarity took a few calming breaths, and decided to try reasoning with Midnight.
