Brother Eye and the Equestrian Multiverse
Chapter 2
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“System functions at nominal levels,” the metallic creature suddenly said from his bed, scaring the nearby doctor and nurse. “Time elapsed: seven earth days, twenty-four hours each. Current state:-Wanting to know what the heck happened!”
The nurse turned to the doctor and gave a simple nod. He ran off out of the infirmary wing while the nurse, a white earth pony mare with pink mane and tail and wearing turquoise scrubs, went to calm the patient down as it started to sit up.
“Sir...mister?...Whatever I should call you, you need to remain seated,” she said, gently pushing him back onto the bed. “Whatever happened to you, you need to rest. It isn’t good for your body.”
“If I was still organic, I would heartily agree,” the creature agreed, somewhat confusing the mare. “However, such isn’t the case. But to make you feel better, and to let my systems adjust, I will remain seated.” He then sat back down on the bed.
“Well...that was easier than most,” the nurse commented.
“While I am not organic, you are a nurse. It is best to show respect where respect is due.”
“That is the second time you said that. What does that even mean?”
The creature sighed as best as he could - considering his lack of lungs. “It means that my body isn’t made of living material, like flesh and bone. I am completely mechanical.”
“Huh. Interesting.”
“I know, but I think the conversation has derailed before going far.” He placed his hand on his heart (or the general location) and introduced himself. “My name is Brother Eye, and what is your name?”
“I’m Nurse Redheart and-”
“Where Is He!?!” A loud voice suddenly yelled before the door to the room was almost broken off of it’s hinges. Out of the hallway came a lean Earth pony mare with a blue coat, rainbow mane and tail, and was dressed in casual athletic clothing. As soon as she saw Brother Eye, her magenta eyes seemed to turn blood red in rage.
For fear of her patient, Redheart placed herself between the advancing angry mare and him. The mare didn’t seem to care and shoved her aside and continued forward until she had Brother Eye in her grip. She then began to punch him, all while shouting at him. “You did this to me!” *WHAM* “You ruined my life!” *WHAM* “I was going to be a Wonderbolt!” *WHAM* “I was the best flyer in Equestria!” *WHAM* “All of that was taken from me when you took away my wings!” *WHAM* “Why did you do it!?” *WHAM* “Why!?” *WHAM* “WHY!?!” Just before she could land another punch, four metal tentacles sprouted from his back and grabbed the mare’s arms and legs.
“I don’t understand your anger,” Brother Eye said to the mare. “You say I took your wings, but I don’t recall doing such, nor did I know you had wings to take.”
“BULL****, and you know it!” She yelled back. “I had to perform an aerial stunt for a recent Royal Wedding, and your stupid ship attacked me despite me trying to avoid it! It shoved me away - hurtling off the mountain, and when I woke up from crash, my wings wouldn’t work! They were so screwed up, that they had to be AMPUTATED!!! You monster! Why did you order your ship to strike me down!?”
“I had no knowledge of this.” Brother Eye sighed. Just as the mare was about to continue her ranting, he interrupted her. “I find your blaming me as immature. For one thing, I had nothing to gain from taking your wings. I also was unconscious for a week, during which was probably the wedding you were referring to. I had no control over my ship during said time and I had no foreknowledge of your flight plan. So if anyone is to blame, it is not me. Think on that in the hall.” He then turned her around and launched her out of the room with a kick to her rump.
After the mare was out of the room, Brother Eye went to where Redheart was shoved aside to see how she was doing.
(Outside the room)
When Rainbow Dash was kicked out of the room, she ended up ramming into a water cooler, causing water to get spilled on the ground. She recovered quickly, Tartarus bent on going back and finishing the creature, but she quickly slipped and fell onto her butt. When she landed, her head flew back and hit a protruding part of a nearby chair, causing her head to jerk forward in reflex into the front of a fast moving gurney. The impact with the gurney then caused her to go flying down a nearby set of stairs. By the time she reached the bottom, she was at the hooves of her friends, the princesses, and Captain Shining Armor.
With no hesitation, Fluttershy began helping her into a chair and tending to her bruises and cuts. Everypony else were simply confused. “Uhh...what just happened?” an orange Earth pony, Applejack, asked.
Rainbow said nothing as Fluttershy patched her up. Shining ended up answering. “She evidently was beaten up by the creature. And since she seemed angry at it being awake, she must have decided to attack unprovoked.”
“Actually, these bruises look as though she simply bumped her head a few times before falling down the stairs,” Fluttershy quietly said.
“That’s an understatement,” Rainbow muttered.
“Why were you attacking it in the first place?” Twilight asked.
“Why do you think?” Rainbow growled. “That thing took away my chances in life by having his $%#&ing ship in my flight trajectory!” She then began to tear up and cry. “I did ALL I could to avoid that thing, but that $%#&er had some sort of invisible shield thing that knocked me out. And when I wake up a few days later, I...Have...No...WINGS!!!”
Fluttershy began to hug her friend, rubbing her back. The other ponies, except the princesses and the captain, joined in the hugging. The princesses and the captain turned to each other to discuss what happened.
“It seems obvious from what Ms. Dash said, the creature’s ship had a type of shield spell or defence mechanism in place,” Shining said. “Thus meaning she unintentionally crashed into it.”
“That seems possible,” Princess Celestia agreed. “And either he forgot to turn it off, if it could, or he did as Rainbow theorized and sabotaged her flight.”
“Regardless if he did it on purpose or not, he needs to at least make things up for her,” Princess Luna finished. “What do you think Cadenza?” No response. Luna looked to where Princess Cadence was standing and saw that she wasn’t there. “Cadenza?”
“Cadence, Faust-Damnit!” Shining swore, causing everypony to look at him and then look up the stairway with him and saw Cadence’s tail disappearing around a corner. Immediately, Shining, Rainbow, and the captain’s sister, Twilight, led the group up the stairs until they reached a nurse station. There they found Cadence speaking with the Head Nurse and Nurse Redheart. Their conversation was interrupted when the group arrived at the station.
“Please don’t run off like that!” Twilight and Shining almost shouted in unison before glomping her in a hug.
“I understand your worrying, but I was just checking what the nurses say about him, and what they said was interesting,” she told them.
“What did they say?” Rarity asked. “I love good gossip.” Everypony looked at her with a weird look, confusing her. “What? I was just asking.”
“They said that he isn’t alive, and yet acts like he is.”
“Do you mean that he’s an undead? Raised by a necromancer of a far off world?” Luna asked, summoning a silver sword into her grasp.
“No, it’s that he’s a-” A muffled explosion, coupled with several squeaks, boings, whirls and such, interrupted what she was going to say. Then the door to a room opened up and out came a familiar metal tentacle with a pink and dazed bundle of energy wrapped up in it. The tentacle gently placed Pinkie Pie down in front of the group.
Two other tentacles came out and deposited a crumbled mess of what used to be a cupcake next to her head. The three then made itself look like a hand and wagged at Pinkie in a gesture that the ponies realized was the ‘nono’ gesture, before withdrawing back into the room.
Pinkie sat up with wide twitching eyes before saying, “I can’t believe I just met someone that doesn’t like cupcakes!”
“The reason behind that, Mrs. Pie, is because he has no means to taste or digest it,” Redheart explained.
“So you mean...?” Pinkie asked, her eyes watering and her mane and tail losing it’s fluff.
“Yes, he can’t, and yes, you’re going back to the waiting room downstairs,” Redheart finished. Pinkie slumped in sorrow and made her way downstairs. “That mare sometimes, it’s a wonder that she hasn’t gotten a restraining order from everypony in current existence,” the nurse huffed.
Cadence coughed before continuing. “Anyway, we were hoping we could speak with this ‘Brother Eye,’ please.”
“Since he has no medical issues, aside from the lack of life to have any, he is cleared to leave when his release papers are signed,” the head nurse said.
“Oh! Oh! Let me sign them!” Twilight jumped up and down like a school filly. Redheart instead handed the papers for Brother Eye to Cadence, causing Twilight to slump in disappointment. Once the papers were signed, they entered the hospital room.
“I hope the living Skittle didn’t make me look bad,” Brother Eye said as they entered.
“What did you call me?” Rainbow asked peeved.
“I’ll explain once my body gets repaired,” he answered. “Which I doubt you’d let me do unless one or all of you were with me so I’m not ‘getting into trouble’. Is my hypothesis correct or, at least, accurate?”
“Very accurate,” Celestia confirmed. “Now, what blacksmith and enchanter did you get your body built at, and we can teleport there.”
“No blacksmith or enchanter of this world produced my body,” Brother Eye explained. “My ship has an internal factory that produces whatever I need, whenever I need.”
Twilight’s eyes widened at hearing that. “That’s amazing!” She shouted, suddenly teleporting in Brother Eye’s face. “I wanna see it!”
“Egghead at her finest,” Rainbow muttered.
“I would be willing to show you, but on the permission of your sovereign ruler,” he answered. Turning to Celestia, he asked, “Does she have your permission and blessings to do so?” She nodded. “Very well, but I wish for Skittles-”
“My name is Rainbow Dash!” Said mare growled.
“-Rainbow Dash to join us.”
“Why?! To ruin my life more!?” Rainbow shouted.
“The opposite of that, actually,” Brother Eye answered. “While I wasn’t directly responsible for the loss of your wings, I believe I may have a way to restore some semblance of your flight back.”
“Really?” Everypony said in amazement.
Brother Eye gave everypony a look before Twilight, Rainbow, and himself were encased in a violet light. He then said, “Yes.” The three then vanished into violet pixels.
(On Brother Eye’s Ship)
Pharynx was beyond pissed. While Thorax tried to free him from the tendrils, he was thinking of the many ways to pummel his captor. After a few minutes, the tendrils began to loosen, allowing Pharynx to slip out.
Pharynx gave himself a moment before he shape shifted into his Battle-form. “You better be ready, you piece of crap! I’m coming for you!”
