Rarity's lament
Love

The room was silent as the two ponies stared at one another. One in complete shock and the other in a tired stupor. The filly rubbed her reddened eyes for a moment before looking back at Rarity. She blinked for a moment seeing her sister’s eyes opened and staring back at her. The girl gasped putting a hoof to her mouth as tears began to swell at the sides of her eyes. She rushed forward forgetting herself as she hugged Rarity’s side.
"Rarity!!" Sweetie Belle cried in A shrill voice. “Oh ma God!”
Rarity would have returned the hug if not for the casts that restricted her movements and the burning pain in her side from where the filly was hugging her. The filly hugged Rarity tightly before pausing and looking up at the wincing mare. A grimace formed on her face as she recalled the doctor’s strict orders not to hug Rarity while she was in this state. She quickly jumped back nearly losing her balance in the process.
“Oh darn.” Sweetie Belle said quickly. “I’m so sorry Rarity! I should…I didn’t mean to…are you ok!?”
Rarity grunted a little and whimpered but seeing the filly in such a frantic state she tried to suppress the pain or at the very least not show that she was in pain.
“Oh….yes…I-I’m fine…dear…” Raity said through the pain. “Million bucks I’d say…”
Sweetie chuckled softly at the attempt at humor.
“Um yeah…of course…”
“Sweetie…” Rarity said slowly. “How are…where…”
The filly looked around quickly.
“Do you need the doctor!? I’ll get her…him whoever.”
“No no…I’m ok…at the moment. Confused….very confused but…well that all I’m feeling at the moment honestly…” Rarity said still doing her best to not show the pain she was in. “How…how about you? You’re ok?”
“Me?” Sweetie pointed to herself. “Who cares about me right now…you’re the important one right now.”
“I…I guess so…” Rarity said as she settled slightly. “I feel like I was hit by a few stampedes…quite the…odd feeling for sure.”
Sweetie Belle nodded lightly.
“R-rarity…I-I…” the filly’s voice started to break. “I’m so….so sorry…”
“S-sorry?” Rarity asked.
“I-it’s all my fault…you got hurt…I-i didn’t think...” Sweetie pleaded. “I was angry…cause of what you said…and….I didn’t…I was stupid…a stupid useless…”
“What are you talking about?” Rarity said lightly.
“When I ran away…I-I wanted you to…but then…and…” Sweetie Belle was swiveling her hooves in the air barely able to finish one sentence.
“Darling I can’t…understand a word you’re saying.” Rarity chuckled before wincing from the pain of doing so.
“I-I went to Apple Bloom’s tree house…” Sweetie said. “I told them to tell you I was gone…ran away. I wanted to hurt you…cause you were so mean…but I didn’t think… I didn’t mean like this…”
“Tree house…” Rarity sighed before mumbling to herself about how she had called it and should have listened to her instincts.
“I’m so sorry Rarity.” Sweetie said lightly. “I-I’ll never bother you again…I’ll stay in my room…be as quiet as possible. Not move an inch or mess with nothing ever again. I promise. Cross my heart and hope to…um…die.”
Rarity closed her eyes for a moment before letting out a soft sigh.
“It’s my fault actually…”
Sweetie tilted her head.
“What?”
“I overreacted…I know that’s a…Rarity…but I know I did.” Rarity said. “I said things…things I…didn’t mean. I let small things get to me. “
“No no no! You should hate me!” Sweetie shook her head furiously. “It’s my fault you went out in that storm! My fault you got struck by lightning! It’s my fault you’re in this hospital! It’s my fault you nearly…”
“Lightning!?” Rarity blinked before her eyes drifted back the darkened fur on her chest. “Well that explains a lot…”
“It’s my fault…all of it…” Sweetie Belle whimpered as she lowered her head. Her body slumped downward as her legs gave out.
The filly’s tear dripped down her face; falling to the floor.
“I was so scared…that I’d lost you…”
Rarity took a moment to gather herself. The mare’s heavy eyes staring down at the filly; her own eyes began to fill with tears.
“It’s alright…” Rarity sniffled. “Everything’s…ok…I’m…ok…you’re ok…”
Sweetie shook her head not listening to such words. She didn’t believe she deserved them. Not after nearly getting her sister killed. She deserved the harshest punishment for being such a terrible sister.
“It’s not ok…you’re not ok!”
“Sweetie.” Rarity said with as much strength as she could. “It’s not your fault. Unless you shot me with lightning gun or something.”
The filly lifted her head upward; tilting it to the side.
“Wha?”
Rarity smiled gently at the filly.
“Accidents happen….Blaming yourself…or anyone else for them is just not reasonable.”
“But…but Rarity…” Sweetie said before she was cut off.
“Judging from all this…my silly little sister has suffer more then enough with her own guilt. “ Rarity said as gently and lovingly as she could.
Sweetie Belle sniffled as she stared deeply into her sister’s loving eyes.
“I know I don’t say this…not as often as I should…but Sweetie Belle. I love you. All of you. mistakes and all. I would be destroyed if I lost you. Believe me when I say this…I could never bare a world where you and I aren’t together.” Rarity said softly. “You’re my Sister…and I could never hate you. I might get angry but my love will always be there.”
Sweetie Belle took in a breath trying to process her sister’s words.
“How…how can you say that…after all this? After what happened to you? You should…should be mad…hate me…”
“The simplest answer…you’re my sister.” Rarity said confidently.“And no matter what.. I love you. Come what may. And truthfully I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Sweetie Belle sniffled as she tried to wipe the tears from her eyes but new tears simply replaced them. The Filly rushed forward hugging Rarity tightly once more.
“I love you too sis…I sorry for everything.”
Rarity winced and shuttered as the filly forgot herself once more. She sighed as she set to endure the painful hug of her silly clumsy little sister.

Several months/possible years later.
The salty smell of the ocean filled the air as a Rarity, Sweetie Belle and her two friends lounged on their sunbathing chairs. Rarity’s hind legs were crossed with her right foreleg behind her head. In her left hoof was a fancy lemonade with a tiny umbrella. The young sipped on the drink before setting it on the table beside her.
“Life is funny isn’t it?” Rarity said as she turned her head to her sister. “Just yesterday you and your friends were out there searching for your cutiemarks.”
Sweetie slipped her sunglasses down from her face smirking.
“Longer than when you and your friends crashed that canterlot party?”
“We didn’t crash it…we were invited.” Rarity pouted.
“Judging from the stories my sis told me that party was something awful.” Apple Bloom chuckled.
“Which one was that again?” Scootsloo asked. “Was that the one where Rarity suplexed that
Fancy pony?”
“Suplexed? Rainbow is fairly good exaggerating stories huh? Or do I look like some wrestler?” Rarity chuckled.
“You kidding I know my sister could totally suplex a dude.” Sweetie winked.
“It’s not very lady-like…but I’d totally mess up a bitch if some pony deserved it.” Rarity grinned.
The four ponies chuckled heartily at the mare’s joke.
“Oh my…I missed these.” Rarity sighed as she settled back into her chair. “Time just flys so quickly anymore. Twilight’s an alicorn. Changelings are allies. The world is just such an odd place. Still….”
Rarity looked over to her sister before grabbing her head and giving her a noogie. The filly yelped and flailed from the sudden sisterly attack. The two’s laughter was infectious as Scootaloo and Apple Bloom joined in soon after. The two fillies jumped to ‘save’ their friend for the vicious noogie attack. It was day to remember for the four. A day for the two Sisters to remember for the rest of their lives. There would be fights in the future, cross words , hurt feelings and maybe a suplexed boyfriend or two but the love the two sisters had for one another would never fade. Not then not ever.
“…I wouldn't have it any other way!”
