Singing in the Moon Light

I was pacing the room and holding my chin, looking at the ground as I walked. I had snuck off while the others were arguing about whether it a good idea that I go for a walk. They thought I should tell someone about my predicament. My "ability" to comprehend intelligently. It still hurt to speak, but I could try. I only did it with Fylakas, and there was a few moments of silence when I looked behind me at Wench. She seemed to be sleeping.

Back to the matter at hand though, about why I snuck off. What had brought me and Fylakas here? What had brought me here? What was trying to control my brain? Why was I getting so many nightmares? What was wrong?

What was wrong with me?

This question was hard to ask myself. This question was hard to comprehend. I don't think I'll ever get my answer. But I would like to say thank you to them. Because of them, I had received a family. A support structure so strong, I could never have imagined being this happy. Despite being plagued by nightmares. Despite everything, I learned that friends could be made anywhere. And by anyone. If all of this is a dream... It's going to be an educational dream. This is going to be a beautiful dream when I wake up. If I wake up. But for now? I would stay in the moment.

I smiled at the beauty of the stars, hoping Luna was currently not using the moon to spy on the landscape. It was a night, yes, but it was only 4 P.M, I guess Celectia agreed to turn in early. To my surprise, I was happy to see the stars this early. Medallion and Wench had been handling me with kitten gloves since the bathroom incident. I was fine now. I hadn't had nightmares since that night. I was getting stronger again, and regaining energy. I smiled and looked behind me at the room I was pacing in. It was a small guest room. I had found it happily. It was like they had forgotten this wing of the castle, the room was almost coated in a thick layer of dust. I cleaned it up, yes, but I was glad to have found a room the ponies didn't use. I could talk to Fylakas by myself here.

I heard Medallion calling for me from the castle courtyard. I backed out of the balcony and ran out of the room, and made my way to the court yard. He smiled at me and looked at my reaction. It was difficult to understand at first, but he was extremely upset that I had managed to get away.

"You're as bad as Vinny sometimes, you know that??" He levitated me onto his back and I gave a croak, showing I understood. It hurt my throat to try and speak, as usual. But I could. I could speak if I wanted. He began trotting back to the room Wench and him shared with Vinny, and where I had been kept cooped up like a dog. They didn't want me to go out without someone with me. They were afraid of my actions.

"You found her?" Wench was cradling Vinny, who was squirming and fussing as they tried to settle him for his evening meal. He had moved on to baby food rather quickly. As soon as he even had the faintest scent of me he squealed with laughter and flapped his little wings to get himself over to me. I walked over and picked him up out of Wenches arms and held him as I offered him a spoon covered with he baby food for griffons, mixed with griffon formula. He bit it and giggled as he gulped it. It was gone in mere minutes. There was a shocked silence from Wench, but then she broke out into laughter.

"If you were a pony I know exactly what your cutie mark would be! A Nanny!" She laughed and Medallion chuckled. I rubbed the back of my head and chuckled too. I walked over to the window after setting Vinny down to play with his toys. I don't understand why I was so drawn to the stars at the moment. They just seemed beautiful. I stepped out onto the balcony and stood at the railing with my eyes closed and my arms open, taking in a deep breath. I opened my mouth, and before I could even think, I was singing. I couldn't stop myself. Not now anyways. When I started I couldn't stop. It was a wordless song, but it held my hum and my voice. It was beautiful.

I kept it up for a few minutes before covering my mouth and turning around to see Wench and Medallion with their jaws practically unhinged and on the ground. I blanked and froze up, staring back at them and laughing nervously.

"S... Sorry..." My voice was shaken and scratchy, and I covered my mouth with a look of shock. The next few moments were blurred to me because of the deafening screech that came from Wench. Medallion used magic to place a soundproof bubble around his head and then a soundproof bubble around mine.

From inside the tinted red dome, all I could see was Wench screaming and freaking out, her crest fluffed to the point I could only see her beak. She hid inside the room and I looked at the floor. The soundproof bubble remained, but Medallion's did not. His was gone, and he was trying to calm Wench down.

Dear stars what have I done. I need to get myself out of here now. But there was no time to move, because I was levitated into the room and sat down.

"How long have you been able to speak?!" He looked at me with a look of fear. I shrugged a bit and froze, staring at the floor as I heard him walk by, like he was pacing.

"Oh no. No no no. You're going to tell us when you figured it out!" His mane was disheveled. I looked at him with a look of terror. I had never seen him so distressed.

"I- I don't know when- hurts to talk for long!" I responded and held my throat, looking at him with a whimper. His eye twitched and I groaned. There was little to do with the conversation. I could not believe that this was Medallion.

He did something that I had no idea ponies could do. He...

He fainted.
