Unexpected Desires

After a long evening of studying, Twilight headed into her bedroom to discover that Spike had fallen asleep a long time ago. As she walked past him he woke up. He saw it was Twilight and asked, "What time is it Twilight?"

Twilight replied, "It is 2205. I'm surprised you came up to bed right after supper. Normally you join Starlight and I when we have our study sessions."

Spike yawned, "I know but I was just so tired after supper." He stretched and continued, "Well you get some sleep, I'm going back to bed."

Twilight knew how he was when he was tired so she let him be and crawled into bed. As she laid there she had so many different thoughts running through her mind. She couldn't help but wonder why Starlight would show next to no interest into something so important, she still had the image of her walking up the stairs and her flank swaying back and forth fresh in her mind but most of all, she couldn't help but think about the feelings she had begun to develop for Starlight.

Twilight continued to lay there, wondering how she should address her feelings for her along with what she should do to ease the extreme want of what she wished she had with Starlight. Soon she would continue to relive what happened that day and Spike realized that he had best wake her up. He shook her and yelled, "Starlight!"

Starlight shot up and screamed loudly. She was breathing heavily for a minute until she saw Spike. She said, "Spike, it's just you."

Spike asked, "Starlight, are you alright?"

In a state of panic Starlight yelled, "No, I'm not. I had that horrible nightmare, AGAIN!" She began to tear up and continued, "Why won't it leave me alone? Why can't I go just one week without having it?"

Spike knew that he had to try and calm her down. He replied, "I'm not sure Starlight but I think until you truly forgive yourself for what you did, you will continue to have it."

Starlight asked, "How can I just forgive myself? I was so awful back then and I nearly destroyed Equestria multiple times!"

Spike replied, "Starlight, that is in the past. Everything turned out ok, you've made new friends here in Ponyville, you reconciled with the ponies in your old village and you've befriended the King of the Changelings! If that doesn't give you reason to forgive yourself, I don't know what will."

Starlight could see where he was coming from but knew that those realizations would not cause her to forgive herself overnight. She replied, "I know but still, I was a horrible pony." She gave him a second look and asked, "Do you think we could talk some more? I don't know if I could just go back to sleep and to be honest, I'm kind of afraid to."

Spike replied, "Of course we can, I don't want you to have that nightmare again."

Starlight thanked Spike and for the rest of the night they began to discuss various topics. They discussed everything from Spike and Twilight's time up in Canterlot, the battle with Tirek, Starlight's youth prior to her going downhill and most importantly, everything that Starlight has to be thankful for and ways that she could maybe forgive herself.
