After Twilight's friends packed up their bags for to trip to Manhattan, she and the Mane 5 show up at the train station in Ponyville several hours later to bid farewell to their loved ones. Before she went on board the train, Spike and Starlight Glimmer show up to bid farewell to Twilight Sparkle and pray that she and her friends will save as many ponies as they can during the 3rd year's annual Purge.

"Okay guys, I'll leave all of Ponyville under your care you two." Twilight told Spike and Starlight. "If I don't come back after the Purge, my Castle is all yours."

"I wish I could come too, Twilight." Spike said as he looked down at his claws out of disappointment.

"Sorry Spike, but it's just too dangerous to get involved in the Purge." Twilight said in denial. "Besides it's no place for a little filly or a little dragon."

"What are we going to tell Shinning Armor and your parents if something happens to you during the Purge at Manehattan?!" Starlight asked out of concern for the safety of her mentor and friend. "You said that we cannot get involved in it because of how dangerous the Purge is."

"Yeah well, since they told us that we have opportunity to save lives during the Purge, this may be our only chance to make it up for all the mistakes I made, two years ago," Twilight spoke with determination. "With that said, may have to fight for our lives in order to rescue our friends there. And one of these days, we need to take a stand against the NFFE to show them the error of their ways."

"What about me, Twilight?" Starlight asked in a worried tone. "I want to help save the ponies during the Purge as well."

"Sorry Starlight, but you have stay in Ponyville for your own safety." Twilight Sparkle said denying her prized pupil's request. "Remember how you made things worse when you threatened to manipulate time, starting when me and my friends first got our cutie marks? Not to be offensive, though."

After thinking about the what she did in the past, Starlight could not help but stand there totally paralyzed in fear of herself. She was told by Twilight that when turning back time using StarSwirl the Bearded's spell, Twilight gets caught up in rebellions and wars that were declared against King Sombra in one time loop and Queen Chrysalis in another. Upon learning of all of these terrible revelations, Starlight froze in fear, thinking that the NFFE has made people go to war against each other during the annual Purge. Before she could say anymore, Twilight Sparkle continues her conversation with Starlight Glimmer.

"There will be another time, Starlight." Twilight said. "For now remain here and wait in my Castle until we return. And as for my parents and Shinning Armor, please take care of them for me while I'm gone."

After seeing Twilight get on board the train, Spike and Starlight waved goodbye to their purple alicorn friend. At the same time, Twilight appeared from a window in one of the train cars and waved goodbye to her student and her number one dragon assistant. As soon as the train disappeared from sight along with Twilight, Spike could not help but cry in silence into believing that he will not see his purple alicorn friend again. Upon seeing Spike in distress, Starlight came up to the little dragon and embraced him in her hooves.

"It'll be alright, Spike." Starlight told the green dragon in a sympathizing tone. "If any pony could survive the Purge, it'll be Twilight and her friends."

Back at Canterlot, in Caleb's new office inside the palace, Caleb Warrens comes inside makes a call to one of his associates from a magical mirror on the wall. Caleb closes all drapes and windows, and then lights his horn up to activate the mirror. In just seconds, a blue fire appeared inside the mirror, revealing a shadowy pony figure in the middle.

"Greetings, Mr. Warrens, did Princess Twilight Sparkle accept our offer?" The shadowy figure spoke in an ominous tone.

"Despite the Princess' denial, her friends voted for our offer, yes." Caleb said as he made an evil smirk while looking over his shoulder for a moment. "I can't wait to see how will they fare against the purgers in Manehattan this year. They'll be arriving at the killing floor in just a few days before the beginning of the 3rd Year's Purge."

"Good work, sir. Now that they have taken the bait, we'll be ready for them once the Purge commences." The shadowy figure said, acknowledging Caleb's good progress. "As soon as the siren blares out at the start of the Purge, the Mane 6 will be in for a big surprise. Carry on, sir."

After the blue flame dissipated from the magic mirror, Caleb turns towards the window, opening up the drapes and looking out towards the city of Canterlot from his office. As he looked down to the ponies walking around the city square, Caleb started making a sinister laugh to himself before muttering his speech in silent.

"Just you wait, every pony. Once we get rid of Twilight and the Element Bearers of Harmony, we'll move in and take over the entire country, governing it under our totalitarian rule. Don't you agree, Queen Chrysalis?!"

"Why yes indeed, my dear!!" Chrysalis cackled as she appeared from the shadowy corners of Caleb's office. "Since we were able to capture and replace all three princesses of Equestria once again, I am finally going to get my wish of conquering all of Equestria, criminalizing every pony to fight each other during the purge; So that there will be less heroes for us to deal with other than the Mane 6 alone."

"I hope you're right about that, Chrysalis," Caleb said as he turned to face the Changeling Queen. "How are the Royal Sisters and Princess Cadence doing?"

"They're all sleeping like babies in their cocoons!!" Chysalis cackled.

"Remember our deal, I won't accept any payment from you until all of the Element Bearers are eliminated from the Purge," Caleb said reminding the Chrysalis.

"You can count you me, Mr. Warren!!!" Chrysalis cackled as she transformed herself into Princess Celestia. "That foolish Princess of Friendship will never know what will hit her."

After his conversation with the Changeling Queen, Caleb sees a disguised Chrysalis leave his office as she closed the doors behind him. For Caleb's point of view it is been clear to him that the Purge is all part of their plan to defeat the Mane 6 in a criminalizing death match, starting two years ago.

Two days later, 48 hours before the Purge, the train reached the station at Manehattan. As soon as Twilight got off the train, she was met by a crowd of ponies protesting against her in enacting the purge 2 years ago. Before they got any closer to the purple alicorn, a private security force of Royal Guard intervened and drove the protesting crowd away from Twilight Sparkle. In the midst of their uproar, one protestor was shouting at Twilight about his children being murdered in last year's purge. Another protestor was throwing rocks at Twilight out of anger for letting her daughter burn her brother alive during the annual purge. As more protestors started shouting out similar rantings, the guards used flash bangs and water cannons to disperse the rioting crowd, while Twilight's friends helped escort her to a nearby stagecoach. As soon as they all got inside the stagecoach, the driver moves away from the rioting crowd.

"Sweet Celestia, that was a close one," Twilight said trying to take a breather from all of that protesting at the Manehattan Train Station. "Though, I wish I can take back that Purge decree away from the citizens of Manehattan when I had the chance."

"Darling, this wasn't your fault." Rarity said trying to comfort the scared alicorn princess. "We were getting pretty tired of dealing with those ruffians ourselves over the past several years before the Purge came into play. After all, even heroes like us needed a break once and awhile."

"Rarity, it's been two years since I helped the NFFE enact the Purge against my own will. And what did they all experience during the Purge?!" Twilight said asked the fashionista while trembling in fear. "Let's face it, guys. We have just unleashed death upon their doorsteps. So right now, we have to make it up all those poor ponies that were killed during this crossfire because we owe them all. As soon as the Purge commences, we all have to do whatever it takes to stay alive in Manehattan and only kill out of self-defense while rescuing whatever is left of our friends in this war-torn city. Is that clear??"

After hearing what Twilight said, most of the Mane 5 nodded in agreement. After one hour later, the Mane 6 finally arrived at the Manehattan Police Station. The moment they got off, the Mane 6 were greeting by Chief Stablemaker.

"Greetings, your Royal Highness." Stablemaker said as he bowed down at Twilight Sparkle. "I'm sure you and your friends know why you're all here right?!"

"Yes, Chief." Twilight said acknowledging Stablemaker's question. "Caleb Warrens gave us an offer to prove our bravery and heroism for the annual purge in starting in 48 hours."

"And he did tell you that you will not be granted any immunity, despite being an Equestrian Government Official, right?" Stablemaker asked further.

"Exactly. Well, if you're not going to help us, what are you and your police unit going to do instead?" Twilight asked the Police Chief.

"We'll have this entire area completely sealed off from all pony access. We are not to let any pony in or out until the Purge ends at 7 am. Any pony caught sneaking into the precinct or any police officer caught deserting his or her post inside the station will be killed on sight." Stablemaker said explaining his role in the Purge. "Once the sirens blare at the start of the purge, we'll close the doors behind you; from that point on, you are on your own. So, stock up at our armory while you and your friends still can."

"Thank you, Chief." Twilight said as she sees Stablemaker salute her before moving on. At the same time, Twilight turns her head to face her friends at the Station Lobby. "All right girls, time to gear up in the Police Armory. When you're all done, meet me at the Manefair Hotel. We'll setup base there so that we can go over what we need to rescue during the annual purge."

After heeding Twilight's orders, the Mane 5 went on ahead to get their weapons for the annual purge. As for Twilight, she was led by the police chief to his panic room in his office. Before Twilight knew what was going on, Stablemaker uncovered a wall keypad on his right, which was next to a bookshelf near his desk. After he punched out the code, the bookshelf slid to the right, revealing a metal door with the wheel in the middle. As Stablemaker turned the wheel clockwise, the door's locks unclasped and opened up leading to the panic room. The moment Twilight and Stablemaker entered stablemaker, the purple alicorn's eyes widened with surprise. In the panic room, Twilight sees several AA-12s stored inside a gun cabinet across from where she was standing, a broadsword on her right, and a box full of canned food and a duffle bag on her left on top of a counter. Upon seeing all of this, Twilight was shocked that the chief was able to grant her a full set of weapons and food to survive the 3rd year's purge.

"Princess, if you have any questions, feel free to ask." Stablemaker told Twilight. "And if you're looking for more weapons to use during the purge, you know where the armory is right? Just remember to use them wisely."

After seeing the Police Chief leave her to continue with his paperwork, Twilight turns back to face the panic room. Upon using her magic, she grabbed an AA-12 and loaded it up with a drum magazine full of 32 shotgun shells. At the same time, Twilight took out 5 more drum magazines filled with ammunition from the gun cabinet and loaded it up into her dufflebag, along with 12 cans of food. Next, she used her magic to retrieve the broadsword, while still in its scabbard and strapped it onto her back. As soon as Twilight is done gearing up for the Purge, she teleported herself outside of the station before taking a detour around the city of Manehattan.

All around the city, Twilight sees ponies trading hostile glares at her. Some where intimidating Twilight with nasty body gestures, while others were selling all sorts of scary masks at their vendors. Upon seeing some of the masks they're selling, Twilight couldn't help but remember seeing them in her nightmares. At the Manehattan Park, Twilight sees some ponies ululating in the middle of the area. They were all wearing hoods and covering up their faces with insanity masks. Before she knew it, some huge, bulky dark-brown earth stallion with the reddish, brown mane came up to Twilight and gave her a frightening look from his face, nearly startling her. The stallion had blue stripes painted on his face, vertically, and bears the cutie mark of a Scottish Claymore.

"Hey, little princess!!" The huge earth stallion spoke in a burly tone. "I bet you wouldn't survive the 3rd year's purge. So, how about you and I go on a date first tonight before we attempt to kill each other in the night after, huh?!"

"Don't get fresh with me, punk!!!" Twilight said getting offended by what the stallion is asking for. "I'm not really proud of myself when they made me do this."

"It's okay, darling. I always wanted to have some fun first when laying waste to those purging pipsqueaks." The Earth Stallion spoke. "I'm grateful that you were able to let us wreak havoc on those weaklings for one night. And in return, I wanted to know if you're up for the challenge when the time comes. I supposed you know who am I, right?!"

"I take it that you must be Yeo Scotland." Twilight spoke in a intense tone. "A wanted fugitive who's convicted for multiple counts of homicide and rape in Manehattan and in Fillydelphia. Received a bounty of 15 thousand bits, dead or alive."

"Yeah, that's right!! You're in Tartartus, little princess. For I am the devil!!!" Yeo smirked at Twilight Sparkle. "If you don't want to go out with me, then be my guest. But be warned Twilight Sparkle, if we ever meet again, you better brace yourself, girly."

As soon as Yeo Scotland left Twilight alone, he made a loud burst of laughter before disappearing into the crowd. Despite that she was feeling a little shaken from what Yeo just said to her, Twilight moved on and took another detour at the "Rarity for You" Boutique in Saddle Row Street. As she looked throw the windows of Rarity's Manehattan Boutique, Twilight sees some of the dresses missing from the display cases. It's been too long since Rarity set up this Fashion Boutique in Manehattan. Ever since the Annual Purge, Rarity could not help but worry how it would affect her fashion business in Manehattan. After those two years, Twilight did notice that Rarity was half-freaked out when she learns that most of her dresses were stolen by a group of jealous unicorns who weren't able to raise enough bits to afford any of Rarity's dresses. As a result, the "Rarity for You" Boutique has suffered 5 thousand bits worth of damages caused by the purgers over the past two years. Upon seeing Rarity crying that her fashion business is heading rock bottom, Twilight could not help but feel bad for her fashionista friend in Ponyville.

Before Twilight could leave, she was met by Rarity's nemesis, Suri Polomare a.k.a Buttonbelle. This time, Suri has a gang of 5 accomplices who were offended by Rarity's generosity, who happen to female unicorns and earth ponies. Before Twilight could say anything, Suri stepped forward grinning at the purple alicorn in a malicious facial expression.

"Well, if isn't one of Rarity's closest friends, Princess Twilight Sparkle," Suri sneered in a sly tone. "How's Rarity doing? Is she here in Manehattan right now?"

"Yes, well if you think you're going after Rarity during the Purge night, I'm not going to let you do it," Twilight snarled at Suri. "Not on my watch!!!"

"You better believe it, Princess!!" Suri hissed in a hostile tone. "When I heard that Coco Pommel told the truth to Rarity about how she actually won the Fashion Week, it didn't take me that long to figure out that Coco betrayed me, OUT OF THE BLUE!!!"

"Yeah well, it was worth it. Besides, you're the real reason why we almost left Rarity behind after believing that she had lost in the Fashion Week, even though it was a BIG FAT LIE!!!" Twilight shouted aggravating the enraged earth pony mare. "Well, not that it matters anymore, we already forgave her for taking advantage of our friendship back then when Rarity was desperate in winning that contest, as well as Coco explaining everything revolving around Rarity's success."

"Just because she won the Fashion Week, that doesn't mean I'm going to give up in making the best dresses in Manehattan, apart from what Rarity made," Suri sneered. "You might as well tell her this: As soon as the annual Purge starts this year, I'll hunt Rarity down and beat her up so bad, that she'll never make another dress again."

"I'd like to see you try, because I'll fight Rarity's enemies too during the purge even its the last thing I'll do," Twilight snarled as she lit up her horn, while glaring at Suri.

"Come on girls, we've got two days left before the Annual Purge starts." Suri ordered her gang as they walked away from Twilight Sparkle.

As soon as Suri and her gang left Twilight alone at Rarity's Manehattan Boutique, she took out another sheet of paper and wrote down a list of enemies that she and her friends needed to watch out for during the Annual Purge. First, Twilight wrote down Yeo at the top of her list, and now she wrote down Suri Polomare. After writing down their names, Twilight put away her list before making her way down to the blocks one her way to the apart that she and her friends are holding up. Along the way back, Twilight sees various earth ponies sharpening their bladed weapons outside of their homes, unicorns loading up their rifles and other firearms, and the pegasi were sparring with each other in vigorous close combat training. Upon seeing every pony busy, Twilight made a theory that every pony is getting ready for the Purge in Manehattan. As for the shop owners, they were selling security installations, food supplies, weapons, and ammunition at a lower price. Twilight also saw other ponies setting up barricades all over their houses, in hopes of preventing any purgers from attacking them inside their property.

Just when she was about to enter the Manefair hotel that Twilight and her friends are staying at, she heard some immediate footsteps coming closer from behind. Out of reaction, Twilight casted a shield spell to protect her only to see a gang banger pony slam straight into her shield in an instant. Despite not slamming into Twilight, the gangster pony started laughing his head off out of amusement, leaving the purple alicorn grunting in anger.

"You almost got me there, didn't you?" The gangster spoke in a cackling tone. "Well, you're going to have to do better than that because there will be a load of us against only 6 of you. So, you better watch yourself Princess, or we'll have your head served on a plate!!! BON VOYAGE, CROUTON. MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

The moment the gangster turned his back on Twilight, she sees a street gang of 25 ponies all staring and taunting at her from the other side of the street across from her apartment. After a few minutes of staring at them, they all left Twilight a small white emblem patch on the street for her to look at before disappearing into the city streets. As Twilight used her magic to pick up the emblem patch, she sees that it had a pony skull with two swords crossing over each other. On the top of the skull's forehead, there is a black cross with a small writing below the skull; in which the writing says "Black Death" on the patch's label. Upon seeing a full view of the emblem, Twilight concluded that the gang that taunted her called themselves the Black Death Ponies. After she wrote their Gang name on her list, Twilight went back inside the hotel to meet up with the rest of the Mane 5. As soon as she entered the room that they're staying in, Twilight was able to greet them calmly.

"So Twi, do you have any idea who we're up against?" Applejack said in a worried tone.

"Well, according to this list that I have in my hooves, I did ran into some ponies that might try to have a piece of us during the annual purge," Twilight explained to the Mane 5 as she took out the list that had all the names of their enemies and rivals that will show up in Manehattan during the purge.

Upon reading the list, Rarity almost fainted out of fright, believing that Suri is bent on getting revenge for winning against her during the Fashion Week contest in Manehattan. As for Yeo Scotland and the Black Death gang, Twilight's friends could not help but feel a frightening chill crawling up their spines.

"Yeo Scotland, ah?!" Applejack muttered in a wary tone. "Ah heard rumors that he used to be in the Equestria Army until he went rogue during this one military campaign and was, therefore, dishonorably discharged from the Army for violent misconduct."

"Well, for the Black Death Gang, I heard rumors that they happened to be a group of hired mercenaries that get paid by higher class ponies just to do their dirty work on the streets," Rainbow Dash explained in a ominous tone.

"Well, enough of all that guys," Twilight spoke before getting to the point. "Right now, we're going to have to draw straws on who's going to defend the base and who's going to help me find our missing friends during the Purge Night."

"Well, I want to help rescue Rara and Babs Seed. " Applejack said with determination.

"Awesome, if Applejack is going, then I'm going too, Twi." Rainbow Dash spoke with eagerness.

"Excellent! Any pony else??" Twilight said as she asked Rarity, Pinkie, and Fluttershy.

"Um, I don't think can handle the Purge," Fluttershy said as she lowered her head down to the floor of the apartment. "I'd rather stay and defend our base."

"It's alright darling, I'll help you hold the fort here," Rarity said as she comforted the yellow pegasus mare in her hooves.

"Pinkie, what's your plan of action?" Twilight asked the pink party pony.

"I'll do some undercover recon, to see if I can get any information on where our missing friends might be hiding at!!!" Pinkie said as she put on a moustache while making a big smirk on her face. "This is going to be the most thrilling, search and rescue mission that we had ever experienced."

"Very well, every pony," Twilight said acknowledging all of her friends' roles in the 3rd Year's Annual Purge. "Any questions?!"

After a few minutes of silence, Twilight issues the following order to her friends before the Purge Night. "All right every pony, I want you all to rest up until tomorrow's purge. Applejack! I need you both to help me with the barricades around the hotel complex."

"Understood, Twi," Applejack said in eagerness to survive the annual purge.

As Applejack helped Twilight setup the security installations that she purchased from a nearby vendor, Pinkie took off to the streets to do some recon all over Manehattan.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Manehattan, a little dark-brown filly appeared from shadows of the alleyway, exhausted and hungry. She happens to be none other than Babs Seed who has a red mane and bears the cutie mark of a pair of scissors. Despite her living in Manehattan, some unidentified intruders bursted through the house of her family residence and brutally murdered all of Babs' parents in cold-blood two years ago and is now living with Aunt and Uncle Orange, for whom they both now live in a country house a few miles away from Manehattan. Ever since the Purge has been established in Manehattan, most of the Apple Family residing there have no choice but to evacuate the area in fear of getting killed during this gruesome tradition. As of right now, Babs Seed was accidentally stranded, unable to find her Orange relatives, in an abandoned area in Manehattan. To make matters worse Babs Seed is on the run from a group of purgers that are threatening to fillynap her at the start of 3rd Year's Purge.

"Oh Applejack!! Apple Bloom!!!" Babs muttered to herself while being scared shitless. "Please come and find me, I don't want to die!!!"

Author's Note

I understand that most of you pony fans are having hard time to believe that the Royal Sisters would let the NFFE carry out as something as cruel as the Purge too easily. So, I decided to edit this chapter by putting in a plot twist behind Caleb's scheming, having Chrysalis get involved in helping him enact the Purge by first impersonating Princess Celestia.
