Previous ChapterNext ChapterSunset Shimmer walked around the parking lot for CHS. She was texted by Marc to meet her in the lot. Why, only Faust knows. (And me.)
Sunset asked Home Run to come along, just in case something happens.
"Think he'll show up?" Asked the blue skinned baseball player.
"I dunno." Sunset said to her friend.
"Hey, Sunset." Said a different voice.
Both turned to see Velvet Breeze running over.
"Velvet, what are you doing here?" Sunset asked.
"I'm sorry, when I scanned you, I saw my Eagle Vision........glitched." Velvet admitted.
"Glitched? How?" Sunset asked.
"Well, at first I saw you as an ally, but I got a headache and then you scanned as red." Velvet explained.
"Strange." Said the familiar voice of Marc. They both turned to see him standing in front of a red Ford Focus, his satchel rapped around his shoulder. "I thought I felt a telepathic power used. I just didn't want to jump to conclusions. C'est la vie."
"You can sense if someone uses telepathy?" Sunset asked.
"Kinda, if they're powerful enough." Marc said shaking his hand side to side. Then he opened the back side door to the Focus. "After you."
"What about you?" Home Run said. "You seem a little young to drive."
"Hey, Marc, we goin' or what?" Said a voice from the driver's seat.
Then a head poked out from one of the windows. He had Caucasian skin that had a slight glow to it, gold eyes, black hair, and spoke with a slight British accent.
"Oh, is that Sunset Shimmer? She's prettier than I expected." The man said.
"Quiet Worthington." Marc snapped as Sunset blushed. "Anyway, get in, let's go."
"Who's he?" Home Run asked.
"Jim Worthington, an old friend of Marc's and a guy who knows who you are Mr. Run." Worthington said with his grin still plastered on.
"Where are we going?" Home Run asked as he, Velvet, and Sunset got in the back seats.
"My house." Marc said as he sat shotgun.
Then Worthington started driving.
There was an, awkward silence, for some reason.
Worthington decided to break it by talking to Marc.
"Sooooo, anything interesting going on?" Worthington asked.
"Eh, Anon-A-Miss is finally racking CHS." Marc said staring out the window. "But, I'm 50% sure Tempest had a hand in giving them a push. Probably telepathy mixed with simple psychological warfare on a youngling's mind."
"Hmm, smart on Berrytwist's part. She would have been a priceless asset to the FFIA." Worthington admitted. "It's sad she Mirror Matched us."
This term brought back unpleasant memories to the two girls.
"Yeah, and I told you that metaphore doesn't make sense." Marc said.
"How? Mirror went undercover and betrays the Brotherhood." Worthington said.
"Yeah, but she betrays them because of the lack of resources that the Templars have so she can find her queen, whereas Tempest was never on our side in the first place." Marc countered. "So a more accurate metaphore would be is that she Terrad, or Judas, us."
"Good point." Worthington said. "Either way, epic fanfic."
"Indeed, Mangoes are Magic." Marc joked.
"Met the Trollhunters yet?" Worthington asked.
"Yeah, they have yet to reveal themselves." Marc said.
After that, the two just passed anecdotes and talked. Sometimes laughed. They were old friends after all.
Yet it was awkward as hell for the passengers.
"Trollhunters?" Home Run asked facing Sunset who just shrugged.
Pretty soon, the city skyline was replaced by green forests.
The three passengers looked around, instead of the subtly cartoonish surroundings they are used to, they saw a place that just looked............different. It looked, real, to real.
There was some Caucasian men playing golf on the left side of the road. On the right was another group of trees.
Eventually, they arrived in front of a drive way on a raised, man-made hill.
Worthington drove the Focus and parked it in the driveway.
In front of them was a small grass plain with a line of trees dotting the background.
In closer to them, was a red two story house with a stone tile pathway leading up to a wood porch on the left side of the house. There was also a a line of evergreen trees on the left side of it. On the right was a white gazibo. On the right of the car was two red barns with a fence and some more evergreens in the middle of them.
Marc got out of the car and urged the three passengers to follow.
Worthington simply drove away, but assured them that he'll pick them up.
They walked along the pathway to the red house.
When they stepped on the porch, they saw that near the door was two red recycling bins, next to the porch was a black trash can with wheels on it. The porch was dotted with other items.
Marc opened the screen door to get to the regular white wood door.
He pulled out a key and put it in the lock, unlocked it, and turned the nob.
"Welcome, to my humble home." Marc said as he opened the door and the four stepped inside.
Inside the mudroom was a light brown carpet that would make Rarity feint from it's tackiness. Next to the door was a wood bench with some baskets resting in it. On the left side of the room was a white door that allowed access to Marc's bedroom and a place for people to put their shoes. On the right side was several coats hung up by command hooks. A bright red heavy coat stood out. Along with a small blue coat that looks like it's meant for a kid. On the other end of the room was the entrance for the hallway. There was also a black cabinet with a lamp and key basket resting on it. Above the lamp was a large mirror that took up most of the back wall.
"Quaint." Home Run complimented.
"Follow me." Marc said as he led them to his room.
Marc's room was equally quaint.
It had a grass green carpet on the floor. He had some superhero posters and art he drew in his younger years. His bed was on the left side of the room, his head board had a lego Batman clock and a Batman mini-bank. He had a star shaped trophy and a box of tissues. Next to the white wood bed with Batman sheets, was a brown wood dresser that had a YU-GI-OH deck, an MP3 player, a booklet, and some knick knacks.
Next to the dresser was a black bench with a brown cushion on it facing a wood table with several Legos on it facing the wall. Next to the table was a bookshelf that had some books on it and the bottom left slot was a blue-green bin.
In front of the bookshelf was some more bins, a lime green one filled with action figures. And a baby blue one was filled with Lego instructions. Next to the bench was a white cardboard box with Comics written on it. Next to the box was a yellow plastic box styled like a Lego 2x8 brick. Next to that box was yet another Lego plastic box, this box was red and styled like a 2x4 brick.
On the wall on right wall hanging from Command Hooks was a towel on the left, on the right was a black, plaid bath robe
The center one didn't have anything hanging from it.
Sorry about the mess." Marc said pointing to the bins and boxes.
"It's alright, I guess." Velvet said,
Then Marc walked to the wall with the hooks and put his hand on it.
"Uh, Marc, what are you doing?" Velvet asked the boy.
"You'll see." Marc said simply.
Then he channeled some Chi. A blue energy circled his hand and that small part of the wall opened into slices like a small pizza pie. The "slices" opened up, revealing silver lever.
Marc pulled the lever and then a part of the floor had that same blue energy, creating a large square in the floor. The square opened up, revealing a long staircase going down into the floor.
Then Marc walked to were the staircase began and started walking down with his hands in his pockets.
Then he noticed his guests weren't following him.
Marc turned to face them.
"I'm aware you're confused, slightly fearful, and even paranoid." Marc said. "And you have every right to be, but, I didn't invite you three too my home only to go all "The Shining" on you three or whatever you think I'm might do. So, remember and heed this advice; forget what you think you know, and trust in me."
The three said nothing, they only looked at one another and nodded.
Then Marc turned back around and began walking down, with his guests following suit, Sunset behind Marc, Home Run behind Sunset, and Velvet Breeze behind Home Run.
As they walked, there was a stale feeling in the air. The air itself felt slightly off, with the smell of ash and chemicals in the air. The staircase was lit by several blue light bulbs on the wall. The stairs themselves were a black stone, a stark contrast to the usual bright colors Marc uses.
Eventually, the four found themselves in front of a dark green door. Marc pulled out a blue key and placed it in the lock and turned until he heard a tell tale click. Then he turned the knob and opened the door.
The four walked in, greeted by a stronger, thicker version of the smell from the staircase, as well as smoke, blurring their vision.
"Air Conditioners on." Marc ordered to no one in particular, smelling the odor an seeing the smoke. Then all four could hear a whirring noise could be heard and then the smoke cleared.
"Activate air fresheners." Marc ordered to no one again. And then the smell of ash and stale potion was replaced with the sweet scent of fresh cherries.
The room they were in was dimly lit with a blue light, on the left side of the room twas a large book case filled to the brim with books, on the right side of the room was a silver table with several unfinished inventions and gadgetry with different tools and equipment on it, including a console and monitor. Next to the table was a weapons rack with several swords resting on it. On the other end if the room was a large computer, much like the Batcomputer in DC.
"Alright Sunday, what blew up this time?" Marc asked no one in particular.
"Your latest project, sir." Said the mechanical voice of the computer at the other side of the room as the monitors came to life.
"Oh, the one with me trying to merge Warframe tech with my Cinnigaran Armor?" Marc asked as the four walked farther in.
"Yes sir." Sunday said.
"Ah." Marc said. Then he turned to his confused guests. "Welcome to my lab."
"Cool lab, reminds me of the Lotus Sanctum." Sunset said.
"Ah, Rift Between Worlds, fun story." Marc said, getting confused looks from his guests.
The three started to look around, Sunset walked to browse the books, Velvet went to look at the weapons rack, looking at the beautiful swords resting horizontally on it. Home Run looked at the equipment on the table.
Marc then sat down and pulled out a brown pouch with a string keeping it closed, and emptied it's contents onto the table. Said contents were Red Ruby shards. Marc pulled a large magnifying glass over the shards and picked up metal tweezers and used them to grip some parts of the Ruby and tried putting them together like a jigsaw puzzle.
"Hey, Marc, why'd you bring us here?" Home Run asked the boy.
This question caught Marc's attention, making him turn his chair to face them.
"You are all here for one reason, I need to help Sunset Shimmer, you three are here for insight, since you are amongst Sunset's closest friends." Marc said, then he turned back around to continue his project. Eventually it formed what he needed, Marc then stood up and went to his bookshelf.
"Insight?" Velvet asked. "What do you mean by that?"
He stood in front of the book shelf, looking for a certain book.
"Where are you, ah." Marc said. His hand reached for his copy of The Occult and Cults. He pulled it till he heard a click.
The bookcase began to slide to the side and revealing his study.
"You know, if any bad guys you un-alived over your adventures might have survived or had any friends who would want revenge on Ms. Shimmer." Marc said answering Velvet's question as he continued his project.
The study had several familiar items on displays, there was also two larger bookcase, a desk with some potions and a book, and a wand rack.
"We do't know any villains except the ones we've seen." Velvet said.
Marc walked to his bookcase filled with complete potions and grabbed a green vial.
"Oh, oh well." Marc shrugged. "I guess you can be here for moral support I guess."
Then Marc walked to the Ruby and dripped a drop of the potion onto it. The Ruby began to glow and the cracks disappeared as it mended itself. Marc then picked it up in his palm and walked back into his study, walking past a clay goblet, a gold broad sword with a horse's head decorating the butt of the handle, a gold orb, a gold shield, and a gold staff.
In the vault was also other trinkets from the multiverse, the Eleventh Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver, Sci-Twi's pendant, two lightsabers, one belonging to Darth Vader, and the other to Darth Sidious, and two Rubies pendants identical to the one in his palm.
He walked to the Rubies, which were resting on a satin cushion. Marc opened the glass case that keeps the rubies safe, many of his relics are behind glass cases, and placed his ruby in the center of the other two.
Then he walked out of his study and wordlessly sat down on his black desk chair in front of his computer, and started typing.
Then, he swiveled in his chair to face his guests.
"Now that that's done, Sunset, I am going to ask you some questions." Marc said.
"Alright." Sunset. "Shoot."
"Alright, now, do you have any enemies?" Marc asked. "At least, any still living, or might be living?"
"Well, Sombra, the Dazzlings, and-"
"I already cleared them." Marc said. "Sorry. Continue."
"The Grineer, the Templ-"
"Dead, very very dead." Marc said, then he realized what he did. "Sorry, again."
"Well, I don't know." Sunset said. "I was a huge jerk and was literally voted Biggest Meanie, and I'm not sure who'd be cruel enough to do this to me. But, about everyone in the school could have a grudge against me."
"Hmmm." Was all Marc said. Then he turned and started typing. "Sunday, do a suspect algorithm with the following variables; Wood family, distant relatives or friends that followed the family business. Dazzlings Psithyra and Changelings, while the latter is slightly unlikely, add them nonetheless. And finally, students at CHS with a talent in computer sciences. Also, get Pierce Network on the line."
"Pierce Network?" Home Run asked. "As in Mr. Network?"
His questions went unanswered as code sped across the main monitor and on the one on Marc's left was the face of the former hacker Assassin.
"What is it Marc? I'm in the middle of something." Pierce said annoyed. Then he got out of his apparent cover and fired shots at some Capone mob members wielding Tommy guns.
"Damned Capones." Pierce said as he ducked behind his cover as bullets nearly shredded the pillar.
"Should I hang up?" Marc asked.
"No. I'm almost finished." Pierce said. Then he tapped some buttons on his phone and the gang members were shocked by electricity and fell down smoking.
"Zap bomb?" Marc asked.
"Yeah, now, what do you want?" Pierce asked.
"CHS is suffering a severe case of Anon-A-Miss." Marc said. "I got a sample of Anon's email and I was wondering if you could trace it back to the person behind the computer."
"Marc, you know as well as I who she is. You just don't want to know." Pierce said. "Now, I've got work to do."
Then he hung up and the monitor went blank.
"What does that mean?" Home Run asked.
"Nothing." Marc said."I just have a strong suspicion, but I wanna have all my facts strait first."
"Okay, I've a question, what's with the knowing, yet not knowing?" Velvet Breeze asked.
"What? I don't know, yet not know." Marc asked. "I'm not omniscient, I was once, but my head nearly exploded, but that 's for later."
"Really?" Velvet asked. "Weird."
"Yes." Marc said, his eyes glued to his screen.
Soon the algorithm was finished and a printer turned on and started printing, three names were written on it in Cinnigaran.
Marc read the names in his head, trying to make sure he wasn't misreading. Seeing that his Cinngaran, and eyes, are sharp as ever, he grumbled and folded the paper and put it in his pocket.
The room was quiet for a few seconds, save for the calm breathing of the group.
Then, a question started nagging at Home Run.
"Okay, who are you? Really?" Home Run asked, catching the attention of everyone in the room. "Why would Velvet assume your omniscient? And, how do you have a lab like this?"
"Agent Marc Wayne Kurtzman of the Freedom Fighter Imperial Alliance." Marc said bluntly. "I'm the host for an ancient God named Nebulass, and most people assume Gods know all, though neither me nor Nebulass know everything. And the lab was given to me by the FFIA."
"Oh." Was all the baseball player could muster. He'd seen some pretty weird stuff; living armor, aliens, Cy-ponies, another world, but this was a new level of weird. "That's cool, did Velvet and Sunset know about this before now?"
"Yeah." Sunset said scratching the back of her head nervously.
"We kinda got in the middle of an ancient war." Velvet said.
"Anyway." Marc said. "I'm rerunning the algorithm to make sure I'm correct, it won't be done till tomorrow, so, since tomorrow's Saturday, if you guys wanna, you can sleep over."
"Sure." Sunset said.
"Don't see why not." Velvet Breeze said.
"I gotta call my parents first, but I don't see why not." Home Run said.
"Cool." Marc said. "Let me show your my treasures."
He got up and brought the three and showed them into his vault
As he and the three walked along, Marc pointed out out his treasures and what they are.
"Pieces of Equus (You should recognize those), Sith Lightsabers from the Star Wars dimension, Pines Journals from Gravity Falls, Crown of Bethmora from Hellboy II, Sherlock Holmes' hat, a Terminator Head, Medusa's head (Don't stare at it please Miss Breeze), Pieces of Eden, The Eleventh Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver(That was the most difficult to restore), The Dazzliing Pendants, Psithyra's Dagger(Time Travel fun), Eye of Aggomotto, Time Stone, One Ring of Power." Marc said as they walked along.
"Hey, Marc." Sunset said noticing a broadsword on display. The blade was two colors, the right side was a bright red, and the left was an equally bright yellow side. The cross guard was styled like phoenix with it's wings rising. In the center of the guard was an amulet that looked like Sunset's cutie mark, it was a red sun engulfing a yellow sun. It was a truly beautiful sword.
"What's this sword?" Sunset asked.
"An...........ancient Cinnigaran relic." Marc said, choosing his words carefully. "Called the Sword of Twin Suns, but, usually just the Sword of Two Suns."
Soon the other two guests present took notice of the broadsword.
"It's beautiful." Home Run said.
"Hmm, I guess. Anyway, the Lab's more or less off limits if unsupervised." Marc said. "Plus, upstairs is where my Xbox One, video games, and other fun stuff are."
"Okay." Sunset said.
Then all four went into the staircase and began walking up after Marc closed the door behind him.
A strange looking robot was stalking in a small forest. It was a bronze color and it's body resembled a pepper pot, and its head was black and dome like. On the head was two bulbs on each side, the center of the dome had a black eyestalk with a blue robotic eye on the end. It's bottom half hilled forward and was covered in several large bumps, it's top half had two arms, it's left arm was small and resembled an egg whisk. It's right arm was black and resembled a plunger.
This creature is a Dalek, one of the most dangerous creatures in the multiverse and the bane of the Time Lords, long ago, they had a Time War, a war over all of history, against the Time Lords of Galifrey. The Doctor committed Double Genocide to stop them, the other race in that Double Genocide was the rest of the Time Lords and Galifrey. But, because they were scattered throughout history, some million survived and keep popping up as the Doctor's greatest enemy. This is one such Dalek. One Dalek can spell doom for a small country, and this is one of an entire fleet.
It hovered along and looked for it's target. Eventually, it saw a blue police box nestled somewhere in the wood, it hovered closer to it and scanned for temporal displacement energy.
It scanned positive.
"This is Dalek scout to Dalek Comand. I've found something." The Dalek said in a robotic voice through his comm.
"What is it scout?" Said an equally robotic voice. "Is it the lost transport?"
"No, Dalek Sec." The Dalek said. "I've found the TARDIS. I repeat, the Doctor is here. Repeat, the Doctor is here. What do I do?"
"Exterminate him." Was all Dalek Sec said. "And all he's come in contact with."
"Yes, Dalek Sec." The Dalek said darkly.
