The Infamous Life Of Blitz

~Chapter 10~

"Happy birthday, Blitz!" said a very familiar voice. The white pegasus was greeted with a pounce on his bed. Blitz just turned over in his bed ignoring the sudden surprise from his friend. Ironsides just shoved the sleeping pegasus. "Lets go lazy ass. You gotta go out and do something wild. After all, it is your eighteenth birthday." Blitz now remembered. He was eighteen. Just yesterday it felt like he was fifteen. The day he lost everything, but his good, no, best friend took him under his wind. Or more specifically his iron wing. "Come on, Blitz. We gotta go out and celebrate." Blitz turned and faced the iron horse. He just smiled. "Well then," he said in a smile, "Let's go celebrate then. Just let me get up and Ill get freshened up." The brown pegasus nodded and headed downstairs. "Ill be waiting by the door." he said as he started walking downstairs.

Blitz then proceeded to get out of his bed. He really couldn't believe he was already eighteen. It was probably all the great times he had with his best friend. Having somepony that Blitz loved around all the time seemed to drain most of his sadness away. Everyday they would have a new story to tell. Even if it was something as stupid as trotting in the backyard. But Blitz and the iron winger were like brothers now. Three years have passed since Blitz's dreams were all crushed.

He didn't like to think back on the whole topic anymore. For he was living in the present, and not the past. The white pegasus proceeded to walk to his bathroom just across from his bed. Blitz really never thanked Ironsides for giving him a home, a bed, food, and for just taking care of him in the first place. He would thank him for all that later. For now, he had to go get freshened up. Blitz entered the bathroom and looked right into the mirror. He didn't even look as bad as he always did. He really didn't even change a bit. The only thing that changed on the white pegasus was his height and weight. He wasn't really to fat. He was just on the average scale and was in tip top shape. He would of been fat if it wasn't for Ironsides pushing him to workout with him. Once again, another thing Blitz had to thank him for.

He groomed his hair. Styled up, and then combed back. Blitz thought about making his mane a trademark. He pictured it. On all the banners and posters on him posing. He laughed at the idea. But that laugh was stopped by Blitz looking at his flank.

It was still blank.

Just an old patch of his white coat covered where his cutie mark was suppose to be. The thought of being eighteen and not even having a cutie mark kind made Blitz feel embarrassed to go out in public. That was another thing Blitz kept his mind off of. So what if he didn't have his cutie mark. It just only means he hasn't really found his special talent, and nopony should make fun of a colt who really hasn't found out what he is really good at. If somepony did, then they would have a price to pay. Even though Blitz hasn't really gotten mad lately, he still had that rage inside him and he was ready to unleash it on anypony who got on his nerves. The last time Blitz really got annoyed by anypony was at football practice when he literally picked up Magicka and slammed him to the ground. He just kept it to himself as he was always waiting for that unfortunate pony to just come up and try to make his day a living hell. That day will come, but for now Blitz had to go celebrate his birthday with his best friend.

The white pegasus then proceeded to the stairs to meet his best friend, for he was waiting to celebrate with his best friend. As Blitz finally descended downstairs he noticed something. The lights in the living room were off. He looked around. "Uh. Ironsides? Why are the lights off?" he asked to the empty room as he waited for a response from his friend. No answer. The thing was that Blitz didn't know where the hell Ironsides could be. He was just upstairs about a few seconds ago, and now he just disappeared like that? There was no way. Blitz didn't even hear the door to his house open and close. Ironsides was still in the house.

"Oh. I see what you are trying to do you iron bastard. You want to play a nice lovely game of hide and go fuck yourself." he chuckled. "Well you have fun with that buddy. I'm not wasting time trying to find your ass. I'll be at the bar if you need me. OK?" All Blitz heard was the air blow past him and the sound of the birds chirping outside. Blitz slowly made his way toward the door as he kept looking around to see where the brown pegasus was hiding. "I'll take that as an OK. I guess I'll see you later bro." Blitz then turned around and opened the door.

All of a sudden he was pounced on by another pony. Blitz was tackled to the ground and was pinned as he seen the brown pegasus stood over him. Ironsides laughed.

"Happy Birthday, Buddy!" he screamed as he ruffled Blitz mane up with he hoof. Blitz smiled and chuckled a bit. "Celestia damn it, Ironsides. You nearly gave me a heart attack." The pony laughed and offered a hoof up. "Well, you still look alive my friend. Plus I made something for you. Its something you like a whole lot." Blitz fixed his mane up a bit and grabbed his hoof. "What is it?" he said as Ironsides pulled him back onto his hooves. Ironsides then proceeded to the kitchen. Blitz followed close behind as he was eager to know what he made for the birthday colt.

They both entered the kitchen, and Blitz was greeted by a large cake. Blitz was amazed with it. It was a huge cake that filled the whole 8x8 table. It was very detailed with vanilla icing and red frosting all around the cake. In the middle had written in oats, 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLITZ'. Blitz laughed as he trotted to the cupboard to get plates.

"How long did this take you, Ironsides?" he asked as he grabbed two paper plates. The brown pegasus flew to a seat and sat down. "Not long. It took like all of last night. I can bake, Blitz, but I'm better at caring for trains. Don't think all because I'm a conductor, I can't bake. I can do a whole bunch of things, buddy." he said as he waited patiently for his plate. "Except fly." Blitz said as he gave Ironsides his plate. The iron pegasus just gave Blitz a dirty look. "Listen pal. I can't fly because of my wings." he said as he flapped his iron wings. Blitz sat down and nodded. "I know. But those bad boys look awesome on you." Ironsides smiled and gave Blitz a piece of cake. Blitz thanked the brown pegasus.

The two then sat and ate the cake until only four piece of it were left. Ironsides got up and headed toward the front door. Blitz didn't know why. After eating he usually went upstairs to work on blueprints for his new engine 2398. "What are you doing?" he asked as he got up and flew to his friend. Ironsides opened the door and turned toward the pegasus. "Its your birthday, buddy. Lets go celebrate." The pegasus took off and flew up into the sky. Blitz trotted out of the house and looked up at Ironsides.

"Come on, Blitz. You lead, I follow." Blitz smiled as he closed the door and flew up after him. As he caught up with him the two just looked around as they could see the city of Las Pegasus in the distance. "Hey Iron." asked Blitz. The brown pegasus looked at him. "I wanna go to that mountain you found me on that on day. Remember?" he said as he did a loop. "Oh. You mean the one you flew off to because you were so depressed you had to go fly off? I see no problem with that." he said as he smiled. Blitz smiled back and flew off toward Mt. Snakeye, as Ironsides followed the white pegasus. Blitz remembered that day exactly. He was too sad to even be around anypony. Iron tried to comfort the him, but all Blitz did was fly off to the mountain. He didn't know how Ironside found him, but Blitz was really close to ending his life at that moment. That was more than three years ago, and a week after Blitz moved in with Ironsides.

The two finally made it without any problems. Blitz landed lightly on his hooves, while Ironsides landed with a loud thud. Blitz flinched at the sound and gave him a look of disappointment. "What?" he brown pegasus asked. Blitz just shook his head. "You gotta learn to land a whole lot lighter on your hooves." He then proceeded to the end of the cliff and sat down. He observed the whole view of Las Pegasus and beyond. He could see Manehattan in the distance and he could see the desert town that was Appleloosa, just enough to where he could see the buildings on the horizon. Blitz just loved the view. He could see everything at the height he was at.

"Tis a nice view." he heard his iron friend say. Blitz looked at him. "Yes." he said as he looked back ahead at the view. He closed his eyes and felt the warm sun heat his coat. "Yes it is." Ironsides sat beside him. "So, what'd you want to come up here for, buddy?" he said as he too looked out toward Equestria. Blitz was quiet, as he wanted to enjoy this moment.

"The view. The silence." he said as he took a deep breath and exhaled. "Peace."

Ironsides chuckled a bit. "Seems like one doesn't get a bunch of that these days." he said with a short sigh at the end. Blitz stayed silent for a bit. He thought back to that day. The day when he flew up here. He wondered why Ironsides came back for him. He opened his eyes and looked at the iron winger.

"Hey, Al." he asked. The brown pegasus looked at Blitz and gave him a smile. "Why did you come get me after I flew away that day?" Ironsides frowned. He took off his glasses and placed them on the ground next to him. "Well." he said as he turned to face Blitz.

"I knew you were very upset still after your whole losing your house, job, and pretty much everything. But I knew you needed somepony to care and love you. You living on your own in a world like this, you needed somepony to be around to make you smile and make you feel good. Even though I lost my parents and everything back then, I needed someponyelse to be with me. Cherry Pie was there for a while but she didn't last long. I was pretty much in the same situation you were. Sad, depressed, and didn't want to live anymore. To be honest my friend, that day we met at the bar was gonna be the last day I was going to live. Then you showed up. You explained your situation and I knew deep down that you were in a similar situation I was in. We had something in common. The main reason I actually came to get you was because if you left, it will be like losing a brother to me, and I don't wanna go through something like that again. Now look at us. We are really just like brothers. I just love you man." Ironsides gave Blitz a hug.

Blitz was shocked. He never knew that he actually mattered to somepony. Indeed they really did share a whole lot of things and they got along real well, but what Iornsides said touched Blitz. Blitz hugged the stallion tightly as he started to shed tears of joy. "I love you too." he said as he pulled away from the hug. Just then Ironsides put his glasses back on and walked back his bag he brought. Blitz looked back at the stallion.

"Hey, Blitz. I almost forgot to tell you. I gotta give you your present." he said as he went in his bag to grab something out of it. "Ok." he said as he got up and proceeded to where he was. Ironsides tossed something at Blitz, and it landed on the ground right in front of Blitz's hooves.

"Remember that one job you said you wanted but could never get it because you needed a certificate?" he said. Blitz nodded as he looked at the thing he tossed. It was a brochure. A brochure to the Weather School in Cloudsdale. Blitz looked back at Ironsides. Even though Blitz still had nine months left until that job deadline ended for that weather pony position, he didn't think Ironsides. Just at that moment Ironsides pulled out a envelope and gave it to Blitz. He opened it. And in was a money and a pass for a free room in Ponyville.

Blitz felt his body explode, as he gave a huge smile to Ironsides. He nodded at Blitz. "Looks like somepony is going to get an awesome job." he said with a smile. Blitz then tackled the colt and gave him a giant hug. Ironsides couldn't breath for Blitz was crushing the colt. "Oh Thank You Ironsides! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!" he screamed as he squeezed harder. "Yeah....you....welcome....Blitz" he said as he was struggling to breath. The colt let go and bounce up and down and laughing. Ironsides just tried to catch his breath as he put a hoof on his happy friend. Blitz stopped bouncing and looked at the colt. "Listen. The train I'm taking to Canterlot is going to stop at Ponyville. Once there, you can get that room and then settle in. Once you get that certificate you'll be able to get that job and do whatever you want." Blitz just gave Ironside another hug, one that he could breath this time. "Thank you buddy." Blitz said as he was now had a chance to start a new life.
