The Lunatic Guardian

It's 20:00 in the evening, while I slept the whole day I seemed to had an enlightening dream about how I became what I am today, and I remembered that I have a somehow different personality with me, that reminds me. . ."Cos what have you been doing all the time?

"Oh, you want to know? To be honest, I lie around, looking through your memories at daytime, sleeping if I am bored, and at night time I watch what you do and eat diamonds, and drinking some cider."Cos says causaly to me.

"Just two more question for now? Can you talk with the others over me and would you like to talk to the others?"I ask Cos out of curiosity.

To my surprise my muzzle moves and my voice with a light dragon-like voice says: "If you want to and let me talk then, of course, I can, I could even force you to talk myself, but that's not what I want, and just so you know, if you lose consciousness I can take over, buuut if you fight and lose consciousness remember I won't hesitate to kill someone, oh and you could give mecontrollevery time."

"Ok, that was creepy, but good to know then I will introduce you to Princess Luna and the rest."I say to Cos in my mind, walking to the armor stand, and putting my armor and my cape on, then next to my Katana stand and putting these on my sides. When done I start to walk to the door."So let's go and get something to eat."I say to Cos in my head with a slight smile on my face. Opening the door, entering the corridor and see four guards, two at my door and two at the door of Luna's bedroom.

"Good evening Guards, can you tell me where I can get something to eat?" I ask the first guard beside my door.

"Good evening Ms.Midnight Shield, we two will accompany you till one of the princesses is with you, so you want something to eat? then please follow us." One of the two guards next to the door to my room says and starts to walk down the corridor.

After we walked a few minutes through the castle we get to a door. "Ms.Midnight Shield, this is the dining hall, you can enter and sit down, a butler will bring you something to eat shortly and the Princesses Celestia and Twilight are eating there dinner right now so you can join them." The guard same guard explained.

"Thank you," I say with a slight bow of my head, opening the door quietly. In the dining room is a big table surrounded by many chairs and I see how Twilight and Celestia are sitting in front of each other, eating some pancakes and talking to each other. I close quietly the door behind myself making my way towards the end of the table. Stand beside a chair waiting till they both realize that I am there or they stop talking for a second."Well, I don't like to be interrupted so I don't interrupt, if it isn't really important"mI say for some reason in my head.

"Shall I interrupt them for you?"Cos says in my head, oh I nearly forgot that he could talk over me with others.

"No, I want to introduce you first, so we don't scare them half to death if they hear your voice, then I will let you talk with them."I say to Cos in my head.

"So Twilight we should stop our discussion, for now, I think we have someone waiting for us to take a break," Celestia says with a smile towards Twilight.

"And who is waiting for us, Princess?" Twilight looks towards Celestian then towards the clock a bit to the side of Celestia realizing that it is already 20:15 "Oh Midnight Shield should be up by now, right?" Twilight looks at Celestia.

"Yeah, she should be up by now," Celestia says then moving a hoof under the table so I only can see it. It seems like she wants that I sneak behind Twilight. Well, it seems like fun, so I sneak behind Twilight. "I would even say that she already has left her room. I would even think that she is hungry right about now." Celestia says and I make a gesture to ask if I should scare her or just stand here, and Celestia makes a gesture, somehow without Twilight realizing, that I just should stay here and wait.

"But how does it come that she isn't here then." Twilight starts to look towards the door, and around her but not behind her. Then she started to turn around and I slowly started to walk staying out of view. While I turn with Twilight, I see a smile on Celestia who is trying to not break out in laughter. "Hmm. . . where is she? Should I look for her?" Twilight looks back at Celestia, who can't hold back anymore and breaks out in laughter. "Oh. . . I get it, she is already here, and let me suggest, she is right behind me, right now." Twilight says.

"Should I stop now?"I ask Cos in my head.

"No don't stop, I have an idea hover over her."Cos suggests. I start to fly and hover over Twilight who turns around, only to be met by nothing.

As she turns around "Wait, she isn't there?" Twilight fully confused looks around till she sees a mirror and sees in the Mirror herself and me right over her, and she breaks out into laughter too. "Ok Midnight, I found you."

I land in front of Twilight "Good evening Twilight and Celestia." I say to both of them sitting down on the chair next to Twilight. "So how was your day?"

"Good evening to you too, Midnight." Celestia stops laughing but still smiles. "We had a good day, how was your sleep?"

"Well about that, it was enlightening, and for more information, I want to wait till all three of you are together, so let's wait for Luna, and while we wait. Can I have something to eat, I have such a hunger, I could eat as much as a Dragon?" I say, then after a few seconds, I start to laugh at what I said."Sorry it wasn't intentionally"I say to Cos in my head and the only reaction I get is laughter, so I don't bother anymore.

"Sure, how about some pancakes?" Celestia asks me with a kind look in her eyes.

"Sounds good. I take some." I say back to Celestia, who starts to walk into the kitchen for some reason.

A few Minutes later, I started to polish my Katanas. And Princess Luna walks in the room. "Good Evening everyone, how was your day?" Luna asks sitting in a chair directly in front of me "And let me guess, my sister is in the kitchen?"

"Good evening Princess Luna, our day was fine," Twilight says. "And yeah, your sister is in the kitchen."

"Good evening Luna, my day was very interesting, more like the dream I had," I say looking towards Luna. "I will tell you all about it after Celestia gets back."

"Ok, then let's wait for my Sister," Luna says just as Celestia walks out of the Kitchen with two plates full of pancakes.

Celestia walks to the table and places one plate in front of me and one plate in front of Luna. "Enjoy the meal, you two," Celestia says and sits in the chair next to Luna and in front of Twilight.

"Thank you for the meal," I say and start eating the Pancakes. "Ok first of all I want to introduce you to, let's call him an old friend, His name is Cosmic Eclipse and he was a dragon and now, how shall I say it?"

"I say how to call it." I was interrupted by Cos, who is talking over my Voice. "I was a Dragon, and now everything that is left of me is my Eye, that is now a part of this little fellow, Midnight Shield and I work with her, mainly giving her more power and a better vision. And also, I can see all her memories, and also if I want I could take over the control when she is unconscious or she can give me the control." After Cos finished his explanation, I look at three faces who are surprised by this.

"Well it's just as Cos says, he is now a part of me. and that since I was a little foal." and I started to tell them everything about my dream that I had over the day and all three look, after my story, at me with a sad face with a bit of terror in their eyes.

"That's horrible, why did all this happen to you two and your sister," Twilight asks with tears in her eyes after hearing about mytransformation, the end of lives and what happened to Cos and my Sister.

"I don't really know," I say.

"But I could say what I think why that happened." Cos suddenly says through my voice. "If you want to hear it of course."

"Sure, everyone here has the right to say what they think. And I think we all want to hear what you have to say." Luna says to Cosmic Eclipse.

"Ok, then let me give you something to think about. First of all your guards, you have earth ponys who are good at CQC or Close Quarters Combat if you want the long version, then you have the pegasi ponys, who are good at aerial combat and last but not least the unicorn ponys who are good at using weapons and distance combat. But what would be the best for a squad which is adaptable to nearly every kind of combat and every distance what kind of pony would be the best choice for this kind of job?" Cos gives us his small speech.

"Whoever this queen was, tactical seen it is a good choice for such a squad, but tomakean Alicorn like this is just messed up and all this so calledtrainingis just as bad as everything else," Celestia says

"So that's all I can say, more I don't know," I say to them finishing my meal.

"And what about Cos, will he tell us more about it?" Twilight asked curiously.

"Nope I go sleeping, don't try to wake me in the next five hours."Cos says in my head to me.

"ähhh. . . he will not tell anything, he is going to sleep for now." I say to them and say to Cos"then have a nice sleep.""And thank you for the meal. Now, yesterday you told me that you would have a task for me if I remember correctly" I say towards Celestia and Luna.

"Yeah we have and I will take care of that, Sister and Twilight you can go to sleep now I will take care of the rest," Luna says, stands up and goes towards the door to the corridor. "Have a good night you two and you Midnight come with me. I want to give you your first task." Without question, I follow Luna out of the dining room where the four guards which guarded the rooms of me and Luna. "Ok you four come with us, we are going to the guard training area when we arrive there you can go to sleep. Then your shift is over."

Luna says to all four guards that saluted her saying in unison "Yes Ma'am" then we all start to walk down the hallway to the guard training area.

As we arrive in the guard training area the four guards say in unison "Good night Princess, and Goodnight Ms. Midnight Shield," leaving us. After they got a bit of distance between us I heard a voice from their direction saying "Why do we have to guard such a dark and creepy mare again?"

Another voice saying "Shush you idiot, what if she hears you, do you want to explain to the Princess of the Night why her honored guest is angry at us? Whatever there is, if you want to lose your job then say no more about anyone's appearance, if you can't deal with a guest who lookscreepyin your eyes then you shouldn't work here. And the reason is, racism is not to be seen in a royal guard."

"And again something like this," I say silently with my head hanging down, looking back towards the voices, and seeing the guards entering a room.

"Anything the matter?" Luna asks me.

"No no, I just remembered something from before my time at the castle," I say to not cause a scene.

"Are you sure you want this? If they don't behave they need punishment."Cos suddenly says abruptly.

"No I don't want them to be punished because I scare them. And didn't you want to sleep?"I answer.

"Yeah, but I'm still looking out for you, oh but still don't try to talk to me the next few hours so have fun, I will say something if I like to, soooo Good Night."Cos says while I now start to hear him sleeping.

"So what did you remember from before your time at the castle?" Luna asks with a sad smile.

"Oh, nothing good, it was at my time at school, the short version is, no one liked to be with me, always they feard me for being a black pony, something that they never really seen before, and always heard of scary stories from their parents, soooo I never really had friends." I tell Luna and ask "So what will be my first task, if I may ask?" Changing the subject.

"First of all, I hope you see us as friends already, and that you will find more friends," Luna says with a small smile on her face. "And the first task that I have for you is, I want you to test our troops and train them. And please use training swords."

"Sure can do, should I test them in their element, like the earth ponys CQC, the unicorns magic use, and the pegasi air combat, or should I train them all in what is possible?" I ask.

"Do what you think is right but don't hurt them too much," Luna says with a big smile on her face with a serious look in her eyes.

"Ok, I will not hurt them, but I can't speak for Cos." I respond "Where should I go to get ready and where should I train them and do I need to wear one of the royal guards armors or may I wear my own armor?" I ask.

"About that, I will bring you to one of the best guards we have here, he will show you around. And you may wear your own armor. And now come on let's get going."

After going into a room where two mare guardians where standing in front on guard Luna tells me: "Get ready and go out of the room to the two guards I will send the one I mean to you." I nod and get ready seeing a armor stand with a dark blue to purple armor looking similar to the golden Guard armor the only differences were that the purple armor has instead of a blue star a gem which looks like it a blue dragon eye and has armor over the wings which looks like dragon wings and next to the armor is a helmet"I don't like helmets."So I didn't look closely at the helmet.

"Luna, may I ask, do you have this armor that stands there in black and thicker?" I look with big eyes at Luna.

"No, not now, but I ask the blacksmith to make you one custom. Do you want with or without a helmet, and how thick?" Luna looks at me smirking.

"Uhh, custom made, no helmet, I don't like to have something blocking my view and I don't like to put something on my mane. And about the thickness, I would if the thickness is the double of normal armor." I say to Luna with even bigger eyes, a custom-made armor in black from the princess herself.

"Ok I will go now and tell the guard and the blacksmith, see you at breakfast till then don't be too hard," Luna says and leaves the room and I started to put my Katanas on a Sword holder and put on wooden katanas and I drink some water.

After a few minutes of relaxing and getting mentally ready, I walk out of the room and outside of the room I see the two mare guards and a royal guard in the golden armor who has a blue mane, tail and blue eyes, and an orange coat waiting for something. "Are you the guard waiting for me?" I ask the orange Stallion whos cutie mark is covered by the armor.

"Yes, Princess Luna told me that I show you where we train and help you with everything here." the orange stallion says with a smile on his face.

"Ok that's nice, thank you and by the way, I am Midnight Shield the leader of a very old Alicorn Special force in a Kingdom which is, as far as I know, doesn't exist anymore. And this red-eye belongs to my friend, now a part of me, and I don't know if he wants to talk right now."

I tell that to the orange stallion and..."Hi little stallion, I am Cosmic Eclipse, now only the Dragon eye of this little mare, Shieldie." Cos says to the orange Stallion again to my total surprise, ... again.

"Wait, what in TARTARUS NAME did you called me just? Shieldie?."I ask Cos totally surprised about the nickname.

"What if you don't like it then I will find another name for you."Cos says to me, I feel the dark smile from him.

"Ok Shieldie is better than probably anything else."I say and surrender to the new Nickname from Cos"But only you will call me like that no one else."I say to Cos.

"Well if you talk about the Devil, he will come around the next corner," I say with an annoyed look on my face. "And for the record, this Shieldie name is only allowed by Cosmic Eclipse." And all three of the guards start to laugh.

"ok ok," the orange coated Stallion says. "Hi Midnight Shield, I am Flash Sentry, temporary I am a Guard here, normally stationed at the Castle in the crystal empire and I am one of the personal guards of Princess Cadence and Shining Armor and I wouldn't dare to call Shieldie" Flash looks at me with a very big smile.

"Ok, I see what is you are doing here. Just a hint, don't try to go too far." I respond to Flash with a dark smile.

"I understand Ms. Shield, so shall we start?" Flash asks while I nod and we started to walk towards the end of the hallway.

At the end of the hallway, I and Flash enter a big door which leads into a big room where around forty Guards are training. "Please Follow me, Ms. Shield," Flash says and I follow him till we get to the other end of the room. "GOOD EVENING GUARDS." Flash shouts through the room. " everyone stop training for now," and the guards stop training and turn to the front "we have a new personal friend of Princess Luna who is here and now wants to look at the state of our training and on behalf of Luna she will train us or train with us."

I go next to Flash "Good Evening Guards, I am Midnight Shield, I was asked by Luna to train you and I want to first test the strongest of every unit, or as I mean the strongest Earth Pony, Unicron Pony, and Pegasus Pony. So if I may ask for these three to step in the Middle and the rest of you make a Circle around the center of the room, so that enough space is for a bit sparring." I say and one Earth pony and one Unicorn Pony step forward. "Let me guess, you, Flash, are the best Pegasus Pony here?"

"Yeah, after all, I am one of the personal guards of the Princess Cadence and of Shining Armor," Flash says and steps forward. After the other guards made a circle with a space big enough for some sparring matches I step to the Center and... "Who wants to test me first of you three and what kind of fight CQC, Magic and training weapon or aerial combat?"

The earth pony steps forward, "Iron Hoof, strongest Earth Pony here, kind of fight CQC."

"So you are the first one, the rules of CQC, first three fast times claps on the other one while grappled to surrender, second no fake surrender, third no breaking bones, fourth getting out of this sparring ring loses, and last no flying, magic, and weapons. Everything understood?"

"Yes, every understood ma'am." The earth Pony says.

"Flash you are the referee." I look towards Flash and he gives a nod in response.

"Good then let's start." I say putting the training katanas to one of the guards, "Hold these please." And both, the earth Pony and me getting into a combat position.

"Ok, everyone ready?" both of us nod, "Then, have a clean fight." Flash looks between us both, "And... FIGHT!"

I and Iron look each in the eyes and charge at each other trying to wrestle each other on the ground but no one falls. A few more attempts later we both jump a bit back, Now charging trying to punch each other, from me an uppercut from the left, blocked by him, a punch with the right from him, blocked by me, and punches from the sides and each again blocked after a few punches later I start to deflect the punches, after more punches from Iron I realized that he got slower and that the punches became weaker, I took that chance deflect his next punch upwards pulling his second punch throwing him on the ground throwing myself on him putting my right front-leg around his neck and my other front-leg under his right leg and behind his neck locking him in my grip and pulling my legs together it only took a few seconds till I feel the other hoof of iron hoof on my side, a three time fast clap. "THAT'S ENOUGH, Winner of this is Sparring Match is Midnight Shield" Flash shouts and I open the grip, stand up, walk a few steps and bow my head.

"That was a good fight." I say to Iron Hoof and help him up, "But~ too many punches to fast after each other. You should do lesser Punches and more counters and if possible try to make a counter into a grapple and bring him to surrender. If you attack to long you get weaker and slower which is the best time to attack."

"Good Fight and thanks for the advice." Iron Hoof responds and bows, too.

"I would like to ask for the next challenger, Unicorn or Pegasus?" I look around and...

"I go next," find Flash stepping into the center of the ring "Flash Sentry, Strongest Pegasus here. Kind of fight Aerial Combat."

We both stand in front of each other in the center of the ring "So to the rules. First touching the ground, the one loses. Second No breaking bones no breaking Wings, Third no weapons or magic, fourth No killing. Everything understood?" I explained the rules.

"Yes, everything understood," Flash responds.

"Next I want Iron Hoof to be the referee and at least four Unicorns to get ready to interrupt if one of us falls from a high point which could do permanent damage," I say loud and clear and get from Iron Hoof a nod and from four Unicorn guards a nod too.

"Ok, everyone ready?" Iron hoof says now standing in the center next to us and both, Flash and I, nod "Then please get airborne and ready for aerial combat sparring." And both of us start to hover around a meter over the ground "Everyone seems ready, I want to have a clean fight. Ready AND... FIGHT!"

After the start signal, I flutter with my Wings and try to get a bit higher as Flash. After I got a bit higher then Flash I make a half salto a bit forward so that I am above and I fly with my back downwards stretch my right hind leg out and let myself fall trying to hit Flash with my leg, but he lets himself fall a bit, I realize the distance that I fell already and I spread my Wings to catch myself turning my Back, back upwards seeing that I am only a few centimeters over the head of the guards and That moment was a good Chance for Flash who tries to give me an uppercut which I can baerly dodge by flying upwards, he even scratches me. I take that opportunity and Kick him with both my Hind legs in the Stomach and doing a full hit, through that he nearly touches the ground but can catch himself, but to make it a fast I drop myself on him pushing him on the ground and... "ENOUGH, FLASH SENTRY TOUCHES THE GROUND, after the rules are Midnight Shield the winner." I stop pushing, land step a few back and bow towards Flash who lands in front of me and bows too.

"That was a really good fight, and you did a very good job, but~ you did a mistake, you were so sure that this uppercut would knock me out that you didn't wait this kick in the stomach so that you got a bit weaker, lost some hight and I could push you down on the ground," I explain to Flash.

"Yeah I know, I try to get it out." Flash explains "But you are good, And your reaction time is awesome, no one in training could dodge this or let alone could kick me like this, I was totally surprised by this."

"Well, I could just barely able to dodge the uppercut," I tell him that. "But for now I would like to test the strongest Unicorn here." and turn to the Unicorn Who pulls a Sword and a Shield, both out of wood "Uhhh Weapons use, I like that," I say with a Smile seeing that the Unicorn holds both completely covered in her magic. "But I see the first mistake, I will not tell you now, I hope to see it for yourself."

"Ok, maybe we will see anything." The Unicron says with a smile on its face. "Flame Wand, Strongest Unicorn here, Kind of fight Magic and weapon Combat."

"Flame Wand, Rules for Magic and weapon Combat. First No dealy magic, Second No permanent Damage, third the first who is for more than 5 seconds lies on the ground loses. Fourth, only physical magic, no psychic magic. Everything understood?" I explained to Flame Wand.

"Everything understood." Flame responded

"OK, I want that both, Iron Hoof and Flash Sentry, to be the referees, Also I want that at least a squad of the unicorns make a Shield around us so that no one gets hurt by stray shoot magic," I Say to get from everyone a nod and a shield bubble surrounding us.

"Ok, Everything else is ready for the sparring match," Flash says

"Are you two ready for Combat?" Iron Hoof asks us and we both nod. "Ok. then get ready, I want to see a clean fight..."Iron Hoof says

"AND FIGHT!" Flash and Iron shout at the same time.

I pull out my wooden Katana but my Dark blue with black stars glowing magic only surrounds the handle of the katana and with a black with bluestarsglowing magic surrounding the blade of the Katana. Flame puts her wood sield infront and her sword right on the edge of the shield ready to thrust it forward, after both of us got in to our stance, I put the Katana back to my side, still holding it with my magic and close my eyes, hearing every breath, every step and every little noise, this Chance saw Flame and start to charge at me, I realize that, open my eyes and make a very quick slash forward hitting the shield with my Katana upwards to prevent a thrust from her sword, after that Flame jumps backwards and I charg a bit forward doing the second slash from the right to the left, but Flame could put the shield infront of my Katana and blocks it completely, after a few strikes and blocks and slashes later, no one buges even a bit. It takes a lot of time till we both got exhausted, we both got weaker and slower, and after a few slashes from Flame later, I see my chance, an opening to slash between the shield. I charge forward, giving Flame a little shock, I slash with my sword towards her throat and Stop right next to it. "THAT'S ENOUGH, Winner is Midnight Shield." I put the Katana back to my side and step a few steps backward. "Her Katana was next to the throat of Flame Wand, if that was a real fight it could have been a deadly cut," Flash explains. I bow towards Flame wand, who puts her shield and sword back and bows too.

"Good Fight, you really held yourself good against me, there is not really something that I could say as advice only one thing, be more cautious I nearly had you from the beginning as you charged towards me," I Explain to Flame Wand.

"Good Fight to you too, and thank you for the advice." Flame Wand says.

"DING-DONG It's 5:00 in the morning you need to get going, Luna is waiting."Cos interrupts this all

"Wait WHAT, it's 5:00 ALREADY?! thanks for the info."I respond to Cos.

"But I think The Princess is waiting for you, Ms. Shield." I look around and see Flash pointing towards a clock over the door.

"Yeah you are right, If you all would excuse me I need to go," I say and storm out of the room into the room where the two mare guards stand in front put the training Katanas back and my own on me and storm out.

In the Dining Room, "I am here, sry for being la-" And...

"It's too late it's 6:00 have a good sleep." Cos says and I fall asleep.
