Son of a Wolf

Serenity's pregnancy had been progressing as what I assumed as normal as Darkness would stay I front of the den and only leave to bring food to her and this had started to get into a routine until one day.

I had woke up and immediately noticed that it was colder then it had been recently and this confused me at first but j assjmed that it was just the weather being different and nothing special and when Zeus and Mute woke up we went on a hunt while Darkness assumed his normal spot and we went and hunted.

We stalked through the bushes as we walked we got near the edges of the trees and we noticed something something which was strange, the ponies were flying everywhere trying to cover the sky in cloud and they were doing this but I quickly look back to the rest of my pack and we continue our hunt. We get towards a clearing and we hear some screams and a loud almost feline growl so we use our smell and notice 4 different scents and that 3 of them are very similar to Butterfly so we assumed that they were ponies so we jumped to take care of what the other scent was and we leapt out in front of the creature.

It was a large feline with a large amount of fur around its head except that was a different colour as it went from an orange like leaves in the Autumn to a red almost like the setting sun before the night time. It had a very feline body until we laid our eyes on its back as we noticed 3 very nasty surprises, 2 of those surprises were wings that looked very similar to what laided on my back but they did not threaten me what did was the tail which stood high and threatening as we separated to try to surround the creature we knew to take out the tail first so we looked at each other, during hunts we would look at each other and would be able to tell each other what to do with little flicks of our ears and small body movements, I was going to go for the neck and Zeus and Mute were to go for the tail and to try and avoid the legs as we did not want to try to see if this creature could buck like a deer.

We leapt Mute went first as he dived to try and grab the upper portion of the tail and we tried to bite it but it seemed to be covered in scales so his fangs couldn't penetrate so we regrouped and figured we would have to go for a quick kill to the neck while avoiding the tail so we spread out and completely surrounding it. We all leapt in a once and I went for the usual tactic which was the back of the neck and biting through the spinal cord, Zeus went for the throat trying to get the jugular and let the creature to make it bleed we wrestled with it until we thought we had won as Zeus managed to sink his fangs in completely so we thought we were taking this beast down but all of a sudden the tail swung around got Mute as we heard a loud whimper and we look back to see the tail stinging him right on the right hind leg and this beast has seriously messed up as the one thing you do not do is just a member of the pack as me and Zeus just start to claw and dig our fangs into it deeper and deeper and eventually it starts to wobble and eventually just falls and passes out from blood loss as Zeus goes for the kill I look to see how Mute was. He was starting to look pale as the sting zone had swelled and had stated to change to a more black colour which was the opposite of his usual coloration and he keeps whimpering in pain and I know we need to get help quick.

I look a the ponies who the beast was attacking and notice that they are all young and must be about the same age as me mabye a little older I look them over and discern that they are curious but also frozen with fear as I look them over and notice that one is injured so I knew we had to get them help as well as Mute, I pick Mute up and lay him on my back and Zeus takes the lead and I loom back at the ponies and motion with my head to follow and they start to follow if keeping a little distance but a rustle of leaves behind them makes then hurry up and stick close to me.

During our walk one of the ponies a white pony with a horn comes up and speaks to me I stop and look at her and sniff her to make sure she is no danger to my injured pack mate we resume walking and she looms at me really confused I hear her say some things and I look at her and cock my head sideways as I do not understand what she is talking to me about I need to get Butterfly to help me understand this language and she goes back to her friends and we eventually get back on stone path and start to follow back to Butterfly's cottage.

I get to the edge of Butterfly's cottage and I howl to attract her and the rest of my pack and I see Butterfly run out knowing why we howl and she gasps as she sees both the ponies and Mute in pain.

Fluttershy's POV
I was having a relaxing day preparing for the storm that was supposed to be coming so I was making sure that all of my ani am friends were fed apart from the wolves and Howling Moon as they still would hunt and could not even try any of the food I had on offer and I would not let them hunt any of my critters around my cottage.

My peace was disturbed by a howl from Howling Moon as I had learnt his pitch and the little things that made his howl different so I run to see what it is and I see Howling Moon with the black and white wolf with the dark one watching the forest behind them and I noticed that the pack was not alone.

During their hunt they had ran into the CMC and by the looks of it applebloom was injured but it looked relatively small compared to the injury on the wolf. On his right hind quaters was a sting wound so it was obviously a manticore attack but the venom had attacked the body of the wolf differently then it had to a pony, normally it would have just paralysed them but this time it had not only paralysed him but had swelled up and started to turn black as the fur around it was the our white sections of his fur.

I run out after grabbing a first aid kit for both and I check on both but prioritising the wolf over applebloom as her injury was not as serious I help get the wolf into my cottage and lay him down as i see his shallow breathing so the venom is defiantly acting different as it would to a pony so i first try to use a plunger to suck the poison out of him and I manage to get a little bit out and significantly reduce the pain but I quickly start to dab around and on the sting zone and keep an eye on his condition as he could get worse in the blink of an eye.

While I am doing this the CMC are just sitting watching me while Howling Moon sits by the wolves head and I see tears brimming in his eye as he nuzzles the wolf with affection he has never showed anyone I have seen before and he lays down just like a wolf and cuddles up warm placing his tail over the wolves and cooling it up in an attempt to keep him warm as he lets out a whimper and licks his ear as it gives a slow flick in response. I finish treating the wolf the best I could and leave him to get some rest as I finally notice how weirded out the CMC are from what has happened, so I let the questions come as I move them away from the wolf and start to treat applebloom while I am able to him in the background.

As I am checking over Applebloom's foreleg Sweetie Belle asks "Fluttershy who is that and why is he so close to that wolf?" I pause and wonder 'how am I going to explain this to them " He is- uhhh. Oh forget it so that is Howling Moon and he is a batpony who I found living with that pack of wolves since he was probably a child as he says more selfish then pony" scootaloo quickly chimes in "so if he is still young that means he hasn't earned his cutie mark yet" she starts to think but I put a quick stop to that by putting a hoof on her shoulder "Scootaloo you are not and I repeat NOT taking howling moon out on a crusade" she answers back "why" "because he doesn't act like a pony you saw how he acted around that wolf he was acting just like a member of a wolfpack would act around an injured packmate." I look back at howling moon and he was still laying close to the other wolf, my gaze falls onto my calender and I remember what I was doing before I spotted the CMC and the wolves and I realise that I am going to have to get the female wolf into the house because the sound of a storm as big as the pegasi have planned could cause the wolf to give birth and it is not the safest place for that to happen so I look at the CMC "stay here a storm is starting soon I need to get more of my animals into my cottage just stay there" I ordered they quickly gave me mock salutes and remained sat down while I ran outside as the rain started.

I saw the black wolf standing outside the den he was watching all of the surrounding area around his mates den I looked at him and signalled to the sky and he noticed and looked back at me I nuzzle him and point to my cottage he nods and allows me to follow him to the pregnant wolf.

This wolf must have been due any day now the wolf was huge she must have had a big litter inside of her, I make my thinking return to getting her inside I lay down next to her and signal the wolf to place her on my back he struggles to get her but eventually manages to do so. I run or briskly trot back to my cottage as I see the mother see me and the 2 wolves approaching and looks at the pitch pack male and he barks once and the mother follows us in as a loud bang of thunder and a flash of lightning strikes the ground not too far from where we were standingwhich makes us all jumps as the wolves bare their fangs at an unknown threat and when I check all of them are here I look at the pregnant female and notice a clear fluid running down her legs, my eyes widen any wider and they would pop out of their sockets, I rush to make a makeshift bed for the female as she lays down and begins one of the most exciting moments of my life as I watch this pack that I am a part of expand and increase in numbers and being a non alpha female means I am going to get to look after them when they emerge from the den.

The wolf begins to push and the father of the littler stays away as males can be aggressive to the newborns so it was just me and the mother of these pups I lay down by her head and nuzzle her as she whimper in pain as we start to see pups coming out surrounded in the membrane and all their fur matted down, one came out, then another, and another one and kept going until she had 5 new pups 3 of which seemed to have the same colour scheme as the mother here I see her relax and start panting as she guides the new born to her tears as they partake in their first meal in this world.

Howling Moon's POV
I saw the rain start to fall but this rain was different as it kept getting harder with no sign of stopping. I looked over and saw the ponies sitting opposite me with the white one staring at me so I get up shake and start to walk to find Butterfly.

I hear a whimper come from Serenity so I quickly walk and see her and Butterfly laying down with Serenity giving birth to her pups and my eyes widen as our pack as just expanded, I see the 3rd pip co e out and notice she still has a bit of a bulge so I know to expect more as I see Butterfly nuzzle Serenity to help her through this and before she knows she had given birth to 2 more pups.

5.... 5 new pups to join our pack I start to jump around and I walk up to Butterfly and Serenity and look at the pups with my tail showing my happiness as I lay down and lick Serenity on the muzzle as a congratulations for a successful birth as the 5 pups nurse on her just like we had done to Mother when we were all pups.

I notice Darkness wall over to inspect the litter as he is the alpha he can decide he quickly looked at me so I knew to move out of the way and he allowed Butterfly as she laid there comforting the newly christened mother. I hear a help and look at Butterfly and notice that one of the pups had tried to nurse from her but she wasn't producing any milk so she quickly moved the pup back to Serenity and the pup continued nursing and we all just stayed together as Butterfly moved Mute over here and she went back to the three ponies she was treating and the rest of us rested as a pack would long into the night.
