The Electric Defender
Every Decision has a Consequence, Even if it is the Right Decision
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe six ponies watched as Logan ran out the room with the sound of firing magic trailing after him. Twilight took one step to go after him but was stopped by Applejack.
"He's going to get himself killed." Twilight said.
"Sometimes you gotta make sacrifices," Applejack said in a quiet tone, "And Logan isn't one of the Elements of Harmony."
"If we solve the riddle quickly we might be able to help him before he gets killed." Rainbow Dash pointed out, "Twilight, do you have a spell that can replay the riddle?" Twilight nodded and her horn began to glow. A projection of Discord popped up on the floor and the riddle was said once again.
Here and there and all throughout
Magic played roles with out a doubt.
But sides must be chosen in this world
and through out history this still shows.
To find your princess you must see both sides
to see through the tinted vision of the one who knows.
"Well that's nice," Pinkie Pie said, "The riddles large so it has a bunch of details. Now if we get it wrong we'll at least be close!"
"I don't think that is how it works, Pinkie dear," Rarity pointed out.
Twilight was hopping from hoof to hoof impatiently, "Can we please get started?!" The other mares nodded. "Now we need to start with a location. Some general area where we can start."
"Well most things are too broad," Rainbow said, "Sides could be anywhere, but history is everywhere and so is magic!"
"What about tint?" Fluttershy cut in.
"Ah don't know," Applejack said, "But the princess is most likely trapped in something or an object. That means that we jus' need to find something that has everything in the riddle."
"Good thinking Applejack," Twilight said, "Now can any pony think of something tinted?"
"Ooooh, I know!" Pinkie burst, "A wine bottle!"
"But that doesn't match the description well." Rainbow said, "A thing like that wouldn't help you remember the history of the night before and it makes you see funny."
"What about a gem?!" Rarity said, "A gem enhances magic, and it's tinted."
"But still no history," Twilight said.
"I hate history!" Pinkie blurted out, "It get's repetitive." A light went on in Twilight's brain but she needed to be sure if it was right.
"How is it repetitive?" Twilight asked.
"Well hasn't Chrysalis attacked Canterlot before, and hasn't Discord given us a riddle before, hasn't a princess been trapped in an object before, haven't they all been evil when they returned, hasn't a human been to equestria before?" Pinkie's questions were answered by mumbles of yes, "See history repeats itself."
"But it hasn't," Twilight said, "Chrysalis didn't go after Cadence like last time. So the Princess isn't in the historic gem mines, the only other place with written history is the library!"
"Not true Twilight," Rarity stopped her, "The windows to the Elements detail history.
"And they show us using the MAGIC of friendship!" Pinkie shouted.
"And there also tinted windows for color," Fluttershy said.
"But where does the, both sides of magic and the seein' through the eyes of the one who knows, fit in?" Applejack asked.
"No clue which ponies know?" Pinkie asked to nopony in general.
"Not ponies," Twilight said, "Pony, only one knows, Chrysalis. Which means a few things, the princess was either caught off gaurd and was imprisioned before she knew what was going on; or she lost some memory, possibly from head trauma."
Pinkie for some reason began laughing. "Look, I found one withe Chrysalis on it, her eyes are a funny color."
The puzzle was solved for Twilight, "I've got it! Discord didn't mean sides of magic, he meant sides on the window, we need magic to get Celestia out. History is talking about these windows telling the history. Tinted vision talked about how the windows are colored, and the only one who knows is Chrysalis. Look at where her eyes are pointing." Twilight made a line with her hoof from Chrysalis's eye to a window across the hall. The window across the hall showed Celestia raising the sun. Twilight fired an unlock spell but nothing happened.
Then Raibow Dash cut in, "Maybe Celestia is stuck in a certain place and Chrysalis's eyes are looking straight at it?" Before Twilight could say anything more Rainbow Dash picked her up, flew her outside, and hovered just near the window. Twilight looked, and it was just as Rainbow Dash had thought. Looking inside through Chrysalis's eyes all Twilight could see was the tip of Celestia's horn on the window across. Twilight fired the unlock spell through Chrysalis's eyes and they formed a thin beam that made the two windows glow for a second then grow dim. Rainbow Dash took Twilight back inside both expecting to see a happy Celestia, but she was on the ground barely conscious only blood coming from her cut lip.
Celestia felt terrible. She felt like no individual would ever experience this much pain. She wasn't used to even a little, she never got sick and was never really hurt in the rare attacks on Equestria. She slowly got to her hooves trying to remember what happened. Then she saw Twilight's hurt expression and knew something big happened.
"Princess, do you remember anything?" Twilight asked hopeful she would say yes but was instead was met with a mumbled no.
"That big meanie Chrysalis trapped you in here!" Pinkie said. A pain shot through Celestia's head as she began to remember. Chrysalis shot her in the back when she was going to do something important.
"We need the elements to get Chrysalis out of here!" shouted Applejack. The elements! Celestia was on her way to get them so she could defeat something she knew about at the time, but who.
"We also need to get Luna out of the moon," added Rarity.
"How did Luna get in the moon?!" Celetia snapped.
Fluttershy spoke, "When Chrysalis revealed herself, Luna decided to fight Chrysalis and she gave the job of attacking Chrysalis's changelings to the gaurds and Logan.
"Who is Logan?" Celestia asked Twilight.
"The human," Twilight replied. The human, she was going to get the elements to stop the human.
"But did he help?" Celestia asked.
"He was the reason we were able to find you." Twilight said, "Logan killed the last of the Changelings then distracted Chrysalis long enough for us to find you." At this Celestia was shocked. A human, helping with something so big.
"Well let's go get Chrysalis, I can turn her to stone and send her out." Celestia said. She took one step and wobbled, "I'll need your help to get places." So the six ponies gathered around her moving slowly trying their best to keep her up. Inside Celestia's head choices were being made.
On one hoof, last time a human came to Equetria he betrayed ponies and attacked them, giveing her the just means to turn the human to stone. On the other hoof, if it wasn't for the human, she would have never been freeed from her prison. The risk was too high she would have to turn the human to stone then release him in a cell to keep him from possibly harming other ponies.
She slowly stumbled around the castle, first she saw a trail of blood, it didn't have the quality of a ponies so they knew it was human blood. They followed the blood to Luna's door. Celestia's heart was pounding; a human could be behind the door, dead. As they opened the door Celestia took in the room, it was a mess. The sheets stank of blood and the trail lead to the balcony. Celestia shuddered to think of the mess the human would make if he fell off the city from this high up. The PS3 was on, the bathroom was all wet, and little pieces of torn fabric could be seen in a few places.
"Logan isn't here," Twilight said, "Let's keep moving."
They walked down the hall to Celestia's room and looked inside. Celestia didn't see anything out of place except something was missing, "Where's my diary?" Celestia said aloud. The six mares gave Celestia a look of disbelief, "What? You can't remember all your life in your head," They made their to many other rooms but none seemed different. Then they got to the library. When Twilight saw it she raced over hopping from hoof to hoof.
"Nonononononono" Twilight quickly said, "All these books destroyed."
"Calm down Twilight," Celestia said, "All the books here can be replaced."
"Ummm Ah don't mean to butt in," Applejack said, "But there's blood, and a hole in the wall."
The seven looked at the bookcase Logan had fallen on then saw the hole.
"I know where that lands!" Celestia shouted, and she raced off down the nearest stairs with the six ponies following behind. Celestia went as fast as she could down the hallways and stairs. She sometimes jumped the stairs gliding down with her wings the rest of the way. She finally got to the main doors and opened them. Celestia was shocked at what she saw. Chrysalis was limping up the stairs paying no attention to her, but what shocked Celestia the most was seeing the human.
Celestia had thought she would be dealing with and adult, the human was just a teenager.
"Logan!" The six mares shouted, but Logan didn't hear them; he was focused on Chrysalis.
"Look he's hurt!" Applejack yelled. Celestia looked for the injuries and was stunned to how bad he was hurt. Logan was soaking wet, and his clothes were stained with his blood. Then Celestia saw his stomach and almost lost control of hers. A large hole went through Logan and organs were visible.
Celestia felt her jaw drop as she saw Logan attack Chrysalis without hesitation. Logan was hit a few times then he delivered a blow to Chrysalis's face with his knee. After punching her more he kicked her forelegs breaking them. Chrysalis stood on her hind legs, Logan grabbed her and punched her again and again in the stomach for minutes.
Celestia knew he was going to die at this rate. She had to turn him to stone to keep him alive, then set up medical equipment and other things needed to heal him when she released him. So she cast the spell to turn him to stone, but since she was still weak from Chrysalis it was taking longer.
Celestia saw Logan look down at his feet aware that he was being turned to stone, then back at Chrysalis. He put his arms out to his side. Celestia didn't expect what happened next. From Logan's arms sprang electricity sharpend, his entire arm was coated in electricity and then went out from his hands one and three quater feet. Chrysalis stumbled towards him and just as she was about to fall on him he thrust both arms at her. The electricity cut through her like a knife through melted butter. Logan pulled out and stabbed again alternating arms three times. Then he stabbed her one last time with his right arm into her left torso. His arm stayed in her torso for a few seconds before the electric from his arms vanished and he pulled his arm out of Chrysalis's torso, in his hand was her heart. Logan was going to make sure she was completely dead and more. With that he crushed the heart till the remaining blood splattered all over him.
Logan fell onto his back. Looking down he saw the stone was just about to get to his knees, so he tried to move but his limbs told him that they wouldn't be able to move anymore today. His arms were out his left leg made and angle to his straight right leg. Logan's head fell towards the six ponies all worried, but he instead smiled in victory.
Celestia walked over to him and spoke, "I'm going to have to turn you to stone to buy us time to set up for medical treatment. I will release you then."
Logan was too exhausted to argue, so he let the stone cover him. After that he dozed off with his eyes, ironically, still open.
