Chapter 13

In Emily’s house, Jack sits on a sofa in the living room, with Twilight laying on the floor across from Jack. In the meantime, Fluttershy and Will sit at the table in the kitchen.

"You guys want some lemonade?" Emily asks while at the refrigerator.

"No thanks," Twilight says.

"I already drank," Will says.

“I already drank too, so...I’m good,” Fluttershy speaks.

"I'll have one," Jack says.

"Okay, Jack," Emily says.

Jack glances at the family picture frame on the shelf next to the window in front of him. Unlike Emily, who is blonde with blue eyes, in the picture, her Mom is Korean; her sister, that looks to be her age, is half-Asian; and her Dad or step-dad, if Jack's not sure, is American with black hair, brown eyes, and a stubble beard.

Twilight trots over Jack and sits right next to him. "Hey, Jack? Are you sure that it's a good idea to trust them? What if Will and Emily tell everyone without us noticing?"

"There’s nothing to worry about, Twilight," Jack says. "They'll keep this between all of us."

"I'm just making sure we don't get exposed."

Emily walks over to them with two lemonades. "Here you go, Jack." She offers Jack a lemonade.

"Thanks, Emily," Jack says.

As Emily sits right next to Jack where he's between her and Twilight, he takes a sip.

"Wow! Your lemonade tastes great."

"That's what Fluttershy told me," Emily says.

When Jack finishes his lemonade, he notices that it’s empty.

He looks over to Emily, “Hey, Emily. Could I have some more?”

“Sure, go ahead,” Emily says with a shrug.

So with that said, Jack gets up and heads for the fridge, leaving Emily and Twilight alone for the moment. The both of them are still sitting between the spot where Jack was just sitting.

"So, Emily, why did you invite Jack over?" Twilight asks, “Any particular reasons?”

Emily blushes. "Um...we’re just friends. Thank you for asking though, um...What was your name again?"

"Twilight." The Alicorn says with a blink and head nod.

"Twilight. Thanks." Emily says to her.

For a moment, the two are once again silent, not knowing what else to say.

"I'll go meet up with Fluttershy at the table," Twilight says.

"Sure thing," Emily responds.

Twilight hops off the sofa and trots over to the table.

Jack walks back to the sofa with a new cup of lemonade in his hand. He sits on the sofa next to Emily.

He looks at the picture again. "Hey, uh, Emily?"

"Yeah?" Emily asks.

"Can I ask you a couple of questions?"

"Sure."

"Is that your Dad in the picture, or your Mom's boyfriend?"

"Oh, that's Mike. He’s my Stepdad."

"And also, why are you...different compared to your parents? Is your dad blonde?"

Emily giggles at the question "No, no. I'm adopted."

Jack turns to Emily in surprised. "Really?"

"Jack, I'm not an alien."

"I know you're not. It's just that..." Jack takes a sip of his lemonade. "I've never met an adopted person before."

"You have any brothers and sisters?"

"Just me."

"I have one sister, and her name is Sarah. And you know something? She's an energetic sweet tooth."

Jack glances at Twilight and Fluttershy on the table. "Like Pinkie Pie." He whispers to Emily to make sure no pony could hear him mentioning Pinkie.

"Who's Pinkie Pie?" Emily whispers.

"She's one of the characters from MLP, but you don't have to say it out loud." Jack changes the subject. "So, why did you want me to see me?"

"Well..." Emily scratches the back of her head. "You like dinosaurs, right?"

Jack nods.

"You see, I love animals, and I also study them. But, I haven't studied extinct animals such as dinosaurs."

Now that got Jack’s attention.

"You like dinosaurs?" He asks with a curious eyebrow.

"Yeah, I do. But, I haven’t taken the time to study them yet.” Emily explains.

Jack sighs. "If my Dad was around, he’d certainly go all-out in helping."

His expression turns to one of sadness at the mention of his Dad.

Seeing his forlorn look, as well as feeling bad for him, Emily puts a hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

"I know that it must be hard, losing your father a while back." Emily assures him, “I know what it’s like to lose someone you love.”

Again, Jack’s attention is caught by Emily.

"How did you know?"

Emily chuckles. "Your friend told me that."

Jack yells out to Will. "Darn it, Will!"

Will shrugs.

He turns back to Emily. "So...you want to learn anything about them?"

"Yeah," Emily replies, putting her hand down from Jack’s shoulder to her own lap.

Jack suddenly feels nervous and he sweaty. It’s not just because he's limited on dinosaur information compared to his Dad, but he has to tell his crush about paleontology. "Uh... well." He sighs. "Look, I'm not an expert. I only know some of the parts of paleontology. I can't tell most of the species of dinosaurs, except the common ones like T-Rex and Triceratops."

"Jack, it's okay. My Dad's a Zoologist, and I don’t know everything he does."

"Well, even this book doesn't really tell the names of the dinosaurs." Jack shows the book to her. "Twilight and her friends came here for this."

"Really?"

Twilight hops off the chair table and trots over to Jack and Emily. "You see, the Cutie Map, which I'm pretty sure you don't know what it is, sent us to find this book. The ring that Jack has right now helped us to track it down. But when we came to Earth, our magic vanished; and during the middle of our journey, the ring itself teleported me to Jack's backyard."

Emily turns to Jack. "Let me see it."

Jack hands Emily the book.

"So what do you know about this book?" She opens it and flips the pages, only to find images of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals on some of them.

"Very little.” Twilight replies, “It was written by Starswirl the Bearded."

"Who's he?"

"He's a powerful Unicorn Wizard who leads the Old Pillars of Equestria to fight the forces of evil."

"'Forces of evil'? Like what?"

"Lord Tirek, King Sombra--"

Unseen by both girls, Jack rolls his eyes in annoyance and facepalms himself.

Unknown to everyone else, with the exception of Will, he doesn't want to hear the names of the villains because he hates the villains in the series. Which is why he hasn't seen the two-part episodes.

As much as he’d like to tell her to stop naming them, he decides to keep silent. The last thing Twilight and Fluttershy need is something to be suspicious about.

Emily finds something at the endpaper of the book. "Hey, uh, Jack? Have you seen this?"

"Seen what?" Jack asks like he’s just come out of somewhere.

"What is it?" Will asks as he and Fluttershy walk over to them.

Emily shows the endpaper of the book. It’s showing an emboss of a gold pentagon with five hexagon imprints around the sixth hexagon imprint, and above the Pentagon emboss is a ring imprint that fits the ring Jack has.

"What is it, Twilight?" Jack asks.

Twilight shakes her head. "I've never heard of this before."

Will points at the ring imprint. "What's that above the Pentagon?"

Jack pulls out the ring, and he uses it to measure the imprint. It fits perfectly.

"Do you think something happens when you insert the ring here?" Fluttershy asks.

"Only one way to find out," Jack replies.

Jack slowly puts the ring into the imprint. Suddenly, the ring glows, and then...flashes until it fades. The imprint is gone, but the ring isn't.

"That's weird," Twilight says.

"I told you I wasn't hallucinating," Jack says to Will.

"Is that...magic?" Emily asks.

"Definitely," Jack says as he picks up the ring.

Suddenly, they hear voices from outside. "Twilight! Where are ya?"

"What was that?" Will asks.

They stand up as Jack closes the book.

"That sounds like Applejack," Fluttershy says.

Jack walks to the window and scans the backyard. There's no one out there.

"It's gotta be Applejack," Twilight says. "Come on, Fluttershy."

Twilight and Fluttershy rush to the door, but Emily follows them. "Wait, something's not right!"

The ponies, unfortunately, ignore her.

Twilight opens the door and she and Fluttershy step outside. Emily tries to stop them.

"Twilight, Fluttershy, stop!" Emily shouts.

Suddenly, three four-foot tall strange black pony-like arthropods, with blue beetle-like shells, wasp-like wings, horns on top of their heads, two long saber-like fangs, blue pupil-less eyes with a nictitating membrane, a snake-like tongue, and holes on each leg, emerges out of the bushes.

Emily, Twilight and Fluttershy outside came to a stop, screaming, and Jack and Will close the curtains.

As the three creatures surround the three girls, Emily exclaims. "What the heck are those things!?"

One of the creatures gave a screeching roar.

"Changelings!” Twilight exclaims.

Jack and Will take a peek through the curtains.

"Are those...?" Will asks.

"Changelings. Yes." Jack sighs.

Then, nine more changelings leap over from behind the fence, and then an eight-foot-tall changeling leaps over with the other ones. It looked like one of the other changelings, but with green reptilian eyes, green-blue hair, long twisted horn, short fangs, and a light green beetle-like shell.

Jack gasps knowing who it or she is. "Queen Chrysalis. She’s… real!"

The changeling queen, Chrysalis, trots over to Emily and the two ponies.

"Get behind me," Emily whispers to the ponies. She turns to the female changeling. "Don't make a sudden move, or I will! Why not go hunt something else?"

Suddenly, Chrysalis speaks. "Where is the book?"

Emily gets shocked when Chrysalis speaks like the ponies, but she takes it out of her mind, knowing that she can talk like them. "Who are you?"

"Queen Chrysalis, the mother of all of the changelings, if that happens to be a satisfying introduction for you.”

They're Eusocial like bees, wasps, and ants? Interesting. Emily thinks.

"Now tell me. Where is the book?"

"Ixnay on the ookbay." Twilight whispers through clenched teeth.

Chrysalis glances at Twilight and smirks. "Well, well. If it isn't Twilight Sparkle."

Chrysalis is about to approach Twilight, but Emily blocks her way.

"Nobody, but me, and my friends, touches these two ponies!" Emily barks.

"We'll see about that," Chrysalis says.

Suddenly, three Changelings pounce onto Emily, Twilight, and Fluttershy, pinning them to the ground.

Jack turns to Will. "We've got to help them."

"We’ll have to fight in order to do it too," Will turns to see a wrench on the desk, and he runs over to it.

Jack turns to the book and the ring laying on the sofa. He knows that Chrysalis has come here for the book and the ring, so he grabs them. Then, he puts the ring into his pocket, and walks over to Will, who is holding the wrench.

"Let's kick their rear ends!" Will grins.

Jack opens the back door and they step out.

"Hey, 'Horsefly'!" Jack taunts.

Chrysalis and the changelings turn to the boys.

He holds out a book. "Looking for this?"

Chrysalis glares at Jack. "The book!"

The changeling queen charges towards Jack, but Will steps forward, blocking her way. "Stop right there!"

Chrysalis stops in front of Will.

"If you want that book, you’ll have to go through me first!" Will holds out the wrench like a baseball player.

Chrysalis's eyes become half-closed, and then...

SMACK!

Jack, Emily, and the ponies flinch when Chrysalis bucks Will in the groin, and after she blows his face, Will falls backward.

Jack laughs nervously. "Ya' know, um..."

Chrysalis grins at Jack.

Suddenly, Emily rolls over, knocking down the changeling on top of her, since it's half smaller and lighter than herself. She quickly gets up, and kicks the creature in the snout.

Chrysalis turns her attention to Emily as she kicks the changeling pinning Fluttershy off of her, and then the other off of Twilight.

Jack grabs the wrench from Will. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine." Will groans in pain.

The other nine Changelings charge towards them as Emily and the two ponies run up to Jack. Chrysalis turns her body toward Emily's group as they stop.

Jack taps the walls to draw Chrysalis's attention, to which he succeeds.

"You want that book?” He asks her as he holds it in the air, her only response being an angry looking growl and scowl. “Come and get it!"

Chrysalis roars at Jack.

"Everybody, inside!"

Emily and the two ponies rush right past Chrysalis, heading straight through the door, but not before helping Will up and dragging him inside.

The changeling queen turns to the three fallen Changelings that are trying to get up. "Seize them!"

The three changelings pursue Emily's group, but Emily herself slams the back door and they crash against the door without bursting through it due to their own weight.

Jack runs to the shed while Chrysalis and the nine changelings follow him.

After Emily turns off the lights, she, Will, Twilight, and Fluttershy run behind the wall, out of the kitchen, and hide. Emily puts her finger on her mouth to tell them to be quiet. She takes a peek around the corner to see the wooden back door with a lever handle.

Suddenly, the doorknob slowly turns downwards.

Emily facepalms her forehead, Why didn’t I think to lock the door?

Before she can rush in and lock it, the doorknob clicks and the door slowly opens. Emily quickly moves her head behind the wall, turning to the group.

She makes several motions and waves with her arms and hands, telling the others to follow her. At first, it’s a little hard for the others to understand, but, they get it.

As the three changelings enter the house and pass by the wall our heroes are hiding behind, Emily's group quietly rush towards the stairs to their left. They quietly tiptoe upstairs. They make it halfway up the stairs, but, with one floor creak from Emily’s foot, the changelings downstairs hiss. Nevertheless, Emily and the others continue to run upstairs quietly until they make it to the second floor.

Emily points to her parents' room.

“This way." She whispers.

They rush in and hide behind another wall. They hear the stairs creak from downstairs.

The changelings make it to the second floor. One of the changelings take a sniff, some certain scents causing him to turn to the bedroom. They are the smells of two humans and two ponies. The changeling rushes into the bedroom, hissing after bursting through the door. But, there's no one in here.

"What is it?" the changeling leader asks.

"I thought I smelled something." The first changeling says, taking another sniff,

"Well, they’re hiding somewhere in this house. Keep looking."

As the changelings keep looking around, they're unaware of Emily and Fluttershy hiding under the bed, while Will and Twilight hide in Emily’s closet on the top shelf. Each of them are careful to not make any sounds. Their faces blend in the darkness, and the dust masks their scents.

The changeling in the bedroom steps into the bathroom to look around, the second changeling investigates Emily's room while their leader stays in the hallway on the lookout.

Will, meanwhile, continues to keep as silent as possible. However, his nose starts to feel tickled because of dust floating into it. He feels like he’s going to sneeze.

“AH-AH-AH-” but before he can sneeze, Twilight uses her wing to cover his nose and keep him from sneezing.

His urge to sneeze leaves him thanks to Twilight, and he gently and quietly exhales, feeling much more relieved.

Knowing that Will won’t sneeze now, Twilight wipes her forehead with a hoof like she’s wiping a bead of sweat off.

However…

“ACHOO!” Twilight sneezes.

She covers her mouth and nose with her wings, knowing now that her sneeze is loud enough to alert the changelings.

And she’s right.

The changelings have heard Twilight’s sneeze, and they turn towards the closet, knowing that that’s where it has come from.

It does not go unnoticed by Fluttershy and Emily either. They look on with horror as the changelings stalk towards the closet.

I can’t let this happen, Fluttershy thinks to herself, If nothing is done quickly, Will and Twilight will get caught! They need help!

Quicker than anything, and with a feeling of bravery, Fluttershy crawls out of the bed.

"Fluttershy, wait!" Emily whispers, trying to stop her.

But it's too late.

With all of the speed her legs can carry her, Fluttershy runs right out the door, but not before willingly knocking the changeling leader into the wall, bonking his head. She makes a run straight downstairs.

The leader meanwhile comes out of his daze, and he follows her without a moment of hesitation. The remaining two changelings see that their leader is on the move.

But, before they can follow, Emily rolls out of the bed.

"Hey, you ugly freaks!" Emily taunts as she quickly stands up. "Have some fresh meat!"

The first changeling leaps toward Emily, but she avoids it as it slams against her Mom's miniature lamp drawer without knocking the lamp over. The second changeling pounces onto Emily. She falls backwards while struggling to get this creature off.

Twilight emerges out of the closet. "Hey you!"

The changeling turns to Twilight. But, before it can react, Emily uses all of her strength to throw the creature off, causing it to crash against the bookshelf.

"Thanks, Twilight," Emily says as she stands up.

The first changeling who has landed against the lamp drawer stands up and starts charging towards Emily again. Before he can even get close enough, however, Will quickly gets out of the closet, and throws a baseball at the creature’s head, causing the baseball to hit him with a smack.

“OW!” The changeling exclaims, and he turns towards Will with a growl.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Emily gives the changeling a low reverse roundhouse kick, causing him to get knocked in the air until it falls backwards, knocking him out slightly.

Twilight and Will can’t help but look at Emily with shock and amazement because of that.

“I didn’t know you do karate.” Will comments.

“Yes, well, I take some lessons in my spare time.” Emily answers.

“Oh.”

Emily hears Fluttershy screaming downstairs. "I'll go save Fluttershy; you two hold them off." She rushes downstairs.

Before the changeling that Emily karate kicked can stand up, Twilight bucks it in the face. Then, Will quickly lifts the creature like carrying a dog, and throws it towards the second changeling in front of the bookshelf, crashing into it.

"That'll keep them busy!" Will says.

"Come on. Let's go downstairs and help Emily." Twilight says.

Twilight and Will run downstairs.

Outside, Jack runs to the backyard shed. He opens the door, quickly steps inside, and closes it behind him.

He takes some extremely deep breaths because of all of the running he has done and the exhilaration of being chased. He feels like a balloon being blown by air going up and down.

He stops breathing, and begins to feel relaxed.

Just as he is feeling safe inside, a changeling bursts through a window to his right and lands between him and the door. The changeling snaps its jaws at Jack, but he avoids it as he backs away from the changeling.

He quickly grabs an old wooden door panel and uses it as a shield. The changeling rams against the door, and the force knocks over Jack before he falls into a pile of old junk. Suddenly, a raccoon pops out of the pile right next to him. Angered, it pounces on the changeling's face.

As the raccoon distracts the changeling attacking it, Jack rushes to the shattered window and quickly climbs out of it. But then, three more changelings surround him. Jack turns right and runs toward the tree right past them just before their jaws snap at him. When he hides behind it, he hears buzzing sounds from behind the tree, and it doesn’t sound like the buzzing sounds of the changelings. He glances at the tree trunk only to see a lone honeybee.

The changeling shows up next to Jack to his right and he runs around the tree. He is cornered by two more changelings. He hears multiple buzzes from behind him, and glances back only to see a medium-sized hole in the tree. Inside, is a beehive.

Jack turns to the changelings as they're going in for the attack. "What're you waiting for?"

One changeling leaps forward and he jumps to his left before he lands on the ground belly first. The changeling misses its attack; instead, it lands against the beehive, and a swarm of angry bees attacks him and the other changelings by stinging them. The swarm is so relentless in their attack, they don’t notice Jack crawling ten feet away from them and the hive.

Another changeling shows up to his left, but he grabs a thick stick to his right and smacks the creature in the face before he gets up and kicks it to the ground. Jack rushes off, but then...four more changelings show up and surround Jack.

Finally, Chrysalis corners him. She steps forward right past the changelings in front of Jack. "Give me the book, human!"

"Or what?" Jack says. "You changelings are no match for the super intelligence of us humans."

Jack tries to punch Chrysalis, but she blocks his attack with her left hoof. Then, she punches him in the face with her right hoof. He falls on his back, and after a few seconds of being on the ground, the shadow of Chrysalis looms over him.

"You were saying,” Chrysalis says, “In all seriousness, there’s no way you can get through me. I am a very quick and agile individual who knows every fighting move in the book. Any half-wit can see that.”

After Jack quickly gets up, he glances at the changelings surrounding him. He realizes that the queen is fast, but, her workers aren't. Jack quickly turns right and shoves the changeling out of the way. He keeps on running towards the shed.

"Get back here!" Chrysalis chases after Jack.

He then climbs on top of the shed; however, Chrysalis leaps on top of the shed with him using her wings for support.

In the kitchen, the changeling leader continually tries to get Fluttershy as they both keep running around a counter.

"Get back here!" He exclaims.

Fluttershy continues her run, until it seems like she and the changeling are going in a circling blur. Just when it appears that the circle will be going on for an eternity, Fluttershy hops onto the kitchen counter, taking some deep breaths because of how much energy she has used in her speeding.

She wipes a bead of sweat off of her forehead with her wing.

All of a sudden, the changeling hops on top of the counter to face Fluttershy, frightening her to where she screams. He roars at her, which only causes her to feel more frightened.

Just before he can attack Fluttershy...

Kelly the cat suddenly jumps out of nowhere between Fluttershy and the changeling. She hisses at him and arches her back, trying to get the changeling to back away.

But, the changeling doesn’t feel threatened in the least bit. He lowers his head down and growls at her. He does not realize though that putting his nose and muzzle so close to Kelly will cause a lot of consequences.

With a large cat yowl, she swipes really fast at the changeling and scratches him on the nose. The pain of the scratch causes him to scream, and he puts his hoof to his nose.

While he is distracted, Fluttershy rams into him and pushes him off the counter, making him fall on the ground.

She breathes heavily from all of the exhilaration. Then, she feels something rubbing against her chest. She looks down to find Kelly rubbing her head affectionately against her.

“Aw, thanks Kelly.” She thanks the cat, petting her on her head and back in return.

But the changeling isn’t planning on giving up. He picks himself up from the ground, and looks back up at the pegasus and cat on top of the counter with a growl.

Emily shows up. "Hey!"

The changeling turns around in a screech.

Emily rushes to a counter on her left and quickly grabs a steak knife.

The changeling pounces onto Emily, and she falls on her back. But before the changeling can bite her neck with his saber-like fangs, she slightly slices the changeling's face with a knife and throws him off.

The changeling's right eye is white, along with a vertical cut. But Emily notices that the blood from the changeling is green instead of red, and the blood itself is on the blade of the knife.

“Who’s the top predator now?” Emily taunts the creature.

Before the changeling can attack again, it looks out the window. It sees Jack and Chrysalis standing on top of the shed, facing each other.

The changeling leader hisses loudly, and seconds later...the rest of his pack show up, and they run out to the backyard. Emily suddenly realizes the behavior of those changelings: they can hunt in different groups!

Will and Twilight show up.

“Emily! Thank goodness you're alright. Why did the changelings leave?" Will asks.

"I think they’re following orders," Emily replies. "The one that was here with Fluttershy and I is the alpha. Of course, wolves that hunt in packs don't have a hierarchy, but they do."

Twilight looks outside. "Jack!" She rushes out of the backyard.

Emily runs after Twilight. "Twilight, wait!"

"Come on, human. Hand it over, and I won't hurt you." Chrysalis says.

"Why do you want it so badly?" Jack asks.

"I feel tempted to tell you, but I won’t,” she says with a smug, “This does not concern you, and I’m in no mood for going into a monologue.”

"Well, if you want to tell me, you better catch me first."

Jack jumps off the shed and lands on the ground feet first.

Jack runs off to the door, but three changelings emerge outside, blocking his way. One of them has a white cut on its right eye. Jack turns right, but the rest of the changelings, including the one from the shed, block his way. He turns back and makes a break for it, but stops in front of the fence. Jack turns back only to be surrounded by all twelve changelings.

Twilight and Emily emerge out of the back door.

Jack has nothing to do; he is trapped, and he has nothing against twelve changelings and one queen who knows martial arts.

Chrysalis grins. "Caught you. And it hasn’t even been much of a chase.”

Jack gulps as Will and Fluttershy emerge outside.

Chrysalis crouches down like she's going in for the kill.

Suddenly, Jack's veins and nerves from his wrists glow slightly purple.

Chrysalis leaps forward as Jack closes his eyes, raising his left palm towards her while Emily and Twilight scream. "NO!!!"

But as the changeling queen pounces for Jack, Chrysalis slams into something that’s in front of him. She lands on the ground.

"Huh?" The others' eyes widen.

Jack reopens his eyes, only to find himself surrounded by a purple force field.

What the...? Jack wonders. Did I just do that?

The changelings, including Chrysalis, stare at Jack in horror.

"No! It can't be!" Chrysalis says, feeling horrified.

She walks to Jack until the two are standing across from each other. She takes a sniff of his scent, and despite the force field dividing them, is able to detect his blood identity. What she discovers...is something that makes her eyes get all the way wider.

“You’re a descendant of my arch nemesis!" She exclaims.

Jack is surprised that he is the descendant of someone she knows. "Who is your arch nemesis?"

Chrysalis glares at Jack. "You'll never know what your Grandfather is!”

She and the changelings turn to the end of the backyard, and they leap over it before they disappear outside.

Jack lowers his hand, causing the force field to disappear and he stares as the direction where Chrysalis had been gone.

I don't understand. Could this mean my Grandfather was her nemesis? But what could've happened to him? He wonders.

Jack had never seen his grandfather since he saw him last time at birth, and he had never visited him. His parents were not sure where he's at even his grandma before she passed away last year.

The others walk over to him.

Before Emily cam ask how he has done the force field, Jack says. "I don't know how. I swear."

"This is impossible. Our pony magic is gone, but you have your own magic?" Twilight says.

"I-I don't know how. I mean, it just came out of nowhere!" Jack complains.

He glances at the book. The icon is glowing golden, and then...the glowing stops.

"Okay, there's something weird about this book," Will says.

Suddenly, they hear voices from behind the fence.

“Twilight? Is that you?" It sounds like Pinkie Pie. Or is it?

"Oh no! The changelings must be back again!" Fluttershy exclaims.

Suddenly, Jack sees something awfully strange. Everything is...purple, except for sentient beings such as humans which are only pink. Through the fence, he sees six figures: five ponies and a small bipedal dragon. He recognizes them: Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, Starlight Glimmer, and Spike.

"I don't think it's the changelings," Jack says. "Just five of one of Twilight’s species, and...some sort of small dinosaur-like creature." He knows it's a dragon.

"Uh, Jack?" Will asks. "Why are your eyes purple?"

Jack turns to Will and then his vision is normal. "What?"

"Alright, now we have two weird things going on."

Then, a pink pony-like creature, with a pink puffy mane and tail, blue eyes, and a cutie mark that resembles three balloons, pops up from behind the fence.

"Twilight? Fluttershy? Is that you?" The pink pony asks.

"Pinkie Pie!" Twilight and Fluttershy exclaim.

"Is that one of your friends?" Emily asks the two ponies.

"It’s A-OK. I'm not the only one here." Pinkie holds up a saddle pack with Twilight's cutie mark. "I found your saddle pack, Twilight." She throws it over the fence towards Twilight.

Twilight grabs it. "Thanks, Pinkie."

"Also, can someone get a ladder first?"

"There’s a door over there." Emily points at the door next to Pinkie.

"We tried that, but it’s locked,” Pinkie comments, “There’s a handle on the other side too."

"I'll unlock it for you guys." Emily walks to the fence, and as she does, Pinkie disappears behind it.

Meanwhile, Jack finds on the ground. It looks like a rock, but made of some sort of metal. He remembers briefly seeing Chrysalis wearing it as a necklace.

Jack picks it up. It’s warm, Jack smells the rock. But it smells funny. Chrysalis, I’m wondering now more than ever why you want the book.

Meanwhile, Jack’s Mom is leaving her neighbor’s house.

“See you later, Jan.” She says to her neighbor inside.

With just a few simple walks, she arrives back at her own home. She unlocks the front door, opens it, and steps inside. She closes the door behind her before locking it.

“Jack, I’m home.” Jack’s mother calls.

No answer.

She puts her hands on her waists. “Huh, Jack’s probably at his new friend’s house. I better call him to be sure.”

But before Jack’s mom can call him, she hears someone from the kitchen.

“I’m here, Mom.” It sounds like Jack.

Jack’s mom sighs. “Oh, thank goodness.” She walks into the hallway. “For a second there, I thought you were-” She enters the kitchen…

And she sees a creature in front of her, digging into her refrigerator. It turns around, revealing itself to be a tall, black horse-like arthropod creature, with green reptilian eyes, a long twisted horn on its forehead, holes on each hoof, wasp-like wings, green-blue hair, two short fangs, and a green beetle-like shell, the only thing about her that’s not a part of her features is a piece of raw steak hanging from her maw.

The creature throws the steak into the air, and eats it up after it lands in its mouth. It chews it up before swallowing with a gulp.

It begins to speak in an evil woman tone. “Oh, I’m sorry. Is my visit too abrupt?”

Before Jack’s Mom can say anything, or run away...a small creature, that looks just like the tall one, but with blue pupil-less eyes, long saber-like fangs, and a dark blue shell, grabs her from behind, covering her mouth with its hooves. It stares at her with its dead blue eyes with a cut on its right white eye.

She tries to speak, but the hoof over her mouth causes her words to sound muffled.

The tall creature walks over to Jack’s Mom, until she is at eye distance with her. Then, she leans her head down, and takes a couple of sniffs at her.

“Yeesss.” The creature says, before turning away towards the window, “Of separate blood, but also of common blood as well.”

Despite her fright, Jack mother raises an eyebrow in confusion upon what she’s talking about.

“Take her to the others. She will be coming with us.” She orders her guard.

The other creature does as it’s told, only, now Jack’s Mom is struggling to get free while also making muffled yells.

The tall creature is left alone in the kitchen.

“Oh, Christian.” She says like she’s talking to someone, “In all my years, I have known that you have carried many surprises. But, I never thought you’d one day have a family, and a continual family line.”

“It’s so surprising, and yet…” she looks up with a malicious grin and licks her lips, “...so delicious!”

“I must congratulate you, Christian. You have given me something new to squish to the ground.”

She turns to leave and catch up with the rest of her gang, giving off a cackle as she leaves the kitchen.
