The Not so Averge Life of a Once Human Now Pony Named Minra

Chapter Six

“Morning everycreature, we have a new student joining our class, her name is Cherry Blossom, you may now enter Cherry Blossom.” Minra said as a cherry blossom pink Kirin filly walked into the classroom, she has magenta scales, a magenta line and magenta hooves, her horn looked like that of a branch, her mane and tail were that of a lion being strawberry red in coloration with silver eyes.

"H-hello my name is Cherry Blossom, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Cherry Blossom said as she lowered her head.

“Why don’t you tell us about yourself.” Minra suggested.

“Um okay well I’m a Kirin, I like to draw, I come from the Kirin village in The Peaks of Peril on the outskirts of Equestria, despite what you might think my favorite fruit is actually apples and I was sent by Rain Shine to learn about friendship because I was born during the Silence Time so I’ve never really learned how to be sociable or how to make friends.” Cherry Blossom said shyly.

“There’s an open seat by Ocellus, you can sit there.” Minra said pointing to the empty seat.

“Oh okay.” Cherry Blossom said as she walked to the open seat.

Class went on as usual when the bell rung singling that it was time for lunch, Cherry Blossom sat in the courtyard drawing some birds and flowers when Ocellus walked up to her and asked if she can sit with her.

“I-I don’t mind.” The timid kirin said as she continued to draw.

“My name’s Ocellus and as you can probably guess I’m a changeling, but can you tell me about the Silence Time?” Ocellus asked.

“Okay well the Silence Time was a period of time where kirin chose to go into the Stream of Silence which took away our emotions and ability to speak, because two kirin got in an argument that soon spread to the rest of the kirin where everyone ignited in anger and burnt the village down so in order to prevent this from happening again Rain Shine ordered us to go through the Stream of Silence.” Cherry Blossom explained.

“That's actually pretty interesting.” Ocellus said.

“What about you, what can you tell me about changelings?” Cherry Blossom asked.

“Well we weren’t always different colors or good in fact, because our old leader, Queen Chrysalis was evil and wanted to eat all the love in Equestria, she tried doing this twice by impersonating Princess Cadence and crashing her wedding in Canterlot until we were defeated, then our second defeat which was when we no longer craved love was when Ms. Starlight Glimmer, Trixie, Discord and our new leader Thorax inflitraded the hive in hopes of saving all the most prominent ponies and that’s when we figured out how to no longer feed on love by sharing the love we already have and when we did that’s when we got different colors.” Ocellus explained.

“Cool and um other being a changeling can you tell me about yourself?”

“Well I like to read, and study…well that’s about it.” Ocellus said as she placed one of her legs behind her head.

“Cool, what’s your favorite genre?” Cherry Blossom asked.

“Well it’s a tie between Sci-Fi, comedy and horror, what about you? What do you like to draw?” Ocellus responded.

“I like to draw nature, animals and fictional characters, sometimes my own, others from media like TV or books.”

“Cool, is it okay if I see some of your drawings?” Ocellus asked.

Cherry Blossom nodded as she proceeded to flip through some pages of her sketch book to a drawing of a banana yellow kitsune with lavender will-o-wisps at the end of each tail and soft baby blue eyes.

“S-see d-do you like her?” Cherry Blossom asked.

“Whoa that’s amazing! What’s her name?” Ocellus asked in amazement.

“I d-don’t have a name for her yet.” Cherry Blossom responded.

“Oh okay well do you want to have lunch with my friends and I?” Ocellus asked.

“S-sure.”

The two students walked to the group where Ocellus’s friends were sitting.

“This is Gallus the griffin, Silverstream the hippogriff, Smolder the dragon, Sandbar the pony, and Yona the yak, everyone this is Cherry Blossom the kirin.” Ocellus said introducing her new friend.

“H-hello my name’s Cherry Blossom, it’s nice meeting you.” The kirin said raising her hoof shyly.

“Yona happy to meet you!” Yona said as she raised a hoof.

“Sup.” Gallus and Smolder said.

“Hiya.” Sandbar said raising a hoof.

“Come sit with us, you can sit next to me.” Silverstream said smiling while patting an open seat next to her.

“Oh okay.” Cherry Blossom said as she sat on the seat.

“What’s that in your bag?” Sandbar asked.

“Oh this is just my sketchbook, you see I like to draw especially if it’s nature, animal or fictional characters.” Cherry Blossom said.

“Yea she’s really good at it, she showed me a drawing of a kitsune and it was beautiful.” Ocellus said.

“I’m not that good at it.” Cherry Blossom said blushing a bit.

The group started chatting the rest of lunch and soon the bell rung and everycreature walked to class to their respective classes. The day went on until it was time for Applejack’s class.

“Now listen hear, Professor Minra, Fluttershy, Zecora, Spike and I are going to be having a camping field-trip to the Everfree forest so we’re gonna need your parent or guardian to sign a permission slip when we get to our camping spot we will meet Zecora there, she’s good with medicine and the native plant life in the forest. However the students that come from out of Equestria are gonna have a teacher with them so they could bring the permission slip while you can say hi to your friends, family or guardian, but don’t worry the trip isn’t gonna be for a couple of weeks while we get supplies.” Applejack explained.

That week everycreature went home to get their slips signed and said hi to their friends, and family. Sooner then they expected the week of the camping trip came and the group that got their slips signed hiked into the Everfree forest where they soon found an open clearing with a zebra in it waiting for them. Zecora is a light stone gray zebra with charcoal black stripes, she wears five golden rings on her front leg and on her neck with gold ring ear piercings, a charcoal black and white mane and tail with bright bluish green eyes and a sun swirl as her cutie mark.

“Glad you can make it Zecora these are the students that’ll be on this camping trip with us, and this is Minra, he’s well the seventh element of harmony.” Applejack said.

“Come now let’s hitch a tent, before the light becomes pitch.” Zecora said.

“Okay, now since there’s nine students and five faculty there will be a tent for every two creature, however we can pick who we want to partner with.” Applejack explained.

Minra and Fluttershy shared a tent, Zecora shared a tent with Spike, Applejack shared a tent with Cherry Blossom, Sandbar shared a tent with Yona, Gallus shared a tent with Ocellus, and Silverstream shared a tent with Smolder. After the tents were set up the group decided to play some games, Fluttershy took them on a nature hike where they met all sorts of creatures such as birds and even a bear. At the end of the day the group told some campfire stories such as the headless mare, laughing Yak and of coarse Bloody Marey while the group ate smores and marshmallows courtesy of Pinkie Pie. It was soon time to sleep so each creature headed to their tents. The next day wasn’t any different except the group decided to explore the Castle of the Two Sisters while being wary of booby traps and critters of various species. After that the group went on a plant scavenger hunt where teach had to draw and document various plants. There was also wood carving, baking, gem and rock collecting and days where each creature could just do what they wanted as long as it was safe. Cherry Blossom found these days to be especially exciting because she could just wander the forest and draw to her heart’s content or at least until she had to change sketchbooks. However there was an incident with some porcupine like creatures called puckwudgies however Minra easily scared them off with a fire blast which had surprised any creature that wasn’t aware of his abilities. Zecora even taught the ponies how to make some herbal remedies that could cure some ailments ant reduce the pane in some injuries.

“Injury or ailment you may have but a herbal remedy will cure you thoroughly.” Zecora said as she made some herbal tea.

On one of the days where the campers could do anything they wanted Cherry Blossom, Ocellus, Silverstream, Smolder, Gallus, Yona and Sandbar decided to explore the castle some more when Ocellus remembered hearing about the legend of the shadow pony that haunts this castle so she decided to trail off from the group and transform into the Pony of Shadows. The group soon realized that Ocellus was missing so they started calling out her name.

“Ocellus, where are you?” Sandbar yelled.

“Yona think legend of shadow pony is true.” Yona said while quivering.

“Please that’s just an old pony’s tale.” Gallus said.

“Yea she’s probably just off somewhere reading.” Smolder responded.

“If that were true then don’t you think she would off told us?” Cherry Blossom asked.

“But what if that legend is true what if the Pony of Shadows had gotten to her and we’re next?” Silverstream said while whimpering.

The six of them turned their head instantly at the sound of a rock being kicked.

“Wh-who’s there?” Gallus called out when a hooded figure walked out of a room.

“It is I the Pony of Shadows!” The cloaked figure called out when a small swirl of blue flame appeared around them revealing it was just Ocellus.

“Relax everypony it’s just me.” Ocellus said.

“Wait you’re The Pony of Shadows?” Gallus asked.

“Well not exactly, you see while we were exploring I remembered the legend that Professor Applejack told us and that's when I got the idea to transform in the Pony of Shadows, I’m sorry if you didn’t like it I thought it would be funny.” Ocellus said.

“Are you kidding me that was amazing.” Gallus said.

“Yea that was really cool, I never could pull anything like off.” Smolder added.

“Yona also think prank was cool, you know by changeling standers.” Yona said nodding her head.

“Best prankster ever.” Sandbar said raising hoof.

Silverstream and Cherry Blossom agreed with the rest of the group. The seven friends laughed as they continued to explore the ruins of the castle. However once night had come the seven knew it was time to head back to the campsite, where it was time for more campfire stories.

“Who want’s to go first?” Gallus asked.

“I’ll go, okay this is one about the wendigos.” Minra started.

“Wait, Aren't they those creatures in that one Hearts Warming story? Sandbar asked.

“This story involves the type of wendigos from where I come from and these don’t freeze ponies.

“Oh really then what type of wendigos are you talking about?” Gallus asked.

“Well these are spirits of cannibalism.”

“C-cannibilism?” The group asked.

“Yes, it all started when three of ponies were hiking up in a snowy forest, when an unexpected snowstorm had hit, the three spotted a cave and rushed inside. Having only planning on hiking for that day the group was under prepared for the sudden storm and soon found themselves with out food but not water for there was snow how ever they only packed trail mix. As the storm raged on through the week the three of them started having thoughts of what it would be like to eat another pony, however they soon dismissed their thoughts when they heard a deep gurgle. The next day one of the ponies woke up to find one of their friends feasting on their other friend who had died. When their cannibalistic friend turned around the other fiend saw that his friend’s eyes were no longer green but an eggshell white with sharp teeth perfect for tearing flesh from bone. In the distance a laughter could be heard...the end.” Minra said when he looked at the group to see them hugging each other in fright.

“Woops sorry I guess I should of toned down the spookiness of the story.” Minra apologized while putting a hoof on the back of his head.

Upon realizing that they where hugging each-other Smolder, Yona and Gallus quickly let go of the still hugging group now made up of Silverstream, Cherry Blossom, Sandbar and Ocellus.

“I-I wasn’t scared!” Smolder said proudly while crossing her arms.

“Me neither.” Gallus said.

“Yona think story wasn’t scary!” Yona said.

Everyone soon calmed down and more stories were told. Soon it was time for sleep once again. The rest of the week went by with nothing really interesting happening and soon enough it was time to head back to the school so all the campers packed their things and trotted back.

“Thanks again Zecora, I’m glad that the puckwudgie incident was the only thing to happen.” Applejack said while waving at the zebra.

“As am I but now it is time we say goodbye.” Zecora said as she trotted of to her house while humming.

Once the group of now thirteen got back to the school they were greeted by Twilight and Rainbow Dash.

“How was the camping trip?” Twilight asked.

“It was awesome, we told campfire stories one of which scared the others except Gallus, Yona and I.” Smolder said.

“Now, now I saw you holding each-other.” Applejack chimed in as Smolder blushed.

“Yea but Ocellus got us good with a prank!” Cherry Blossom said.

“Oh really, how did she prank you?” Rainbow Dash asked with a surprised look on her face.

“Well we were exploring the castle ruins when I remembered the legend of the Pony of Shadows so I transformed into the Pony of shadows and scared them but don’t worry we had a good laugh.” Ocellus responded.

With a defeated look on her face Rainbow dash walked off to wonder how Ocellus could be a better prankster than her the self entitled best prankster in all of Ponyville.

“Is she going to be okay?” Silverstream asked.

“Yea but for now you can rest for the rest of the day and tomorrow you can write letters about your camping trip to me.” Twilight said.

The students nodded and headed back to their rooms where they unpacked everything. When the seven friends met up in the school’s court yard.

“Hey you guys want to go to the ice cream shop?” Sandbar asked.

“Sure.” Smolder said.

“Yona think ice cream is good idea too.”

“Okay by me.” Gallus said.

“Ice cream!” Silverstream shouted excitedly.

“I would like some as well.” Ocellus said.

Cherry Blossom nodded as the seven friends walked to the ice cream shop where they preceded to get ice cream and eat. The seven friends chatted until they finished their ice cream and went elsewhere.
