The Not so Averge Life of a Once Human Now Pony Named Minra

Chapter Eight

It was New Years Eve a couple minutes before Midnight and rather then stay up Minra and Fluttershy decided it was best to sleep. The two ponies and a wolf hybrid were fast asleep until the sound of glass being broken had jolted the three awake, when they turned to see what had caused the sound Sunshine instantly growled at the site of a skeletal, zombie looking pony with the tench of decay, it had ice blue eyes that were filled with hate, and some bones and flesh showing, there was no fur, the skin was pale blue, and there was clouds of frost emitting from it’s nostrils and mouth, there was some kind of aura emitting from the eyes. The creature let out a shriek as it leaped at the three with a quick motion Minra transformed and shot a fireball at the creature causing steam to erupt and when it cleared there was just some bones where the creature stood.

“Are you alright?” Twilight asked as she burst into the room with a scared Starlight behind her, upon noticing the some lingering steam, the putrid odor that only death has, the bones and Minra in his dragon pony form, Twilight soon asked what happened.

“Well we were asleep when we heard a crash and we looked there was a zombie looking pony that smelled like death, with blue eyes that had some sort of aura emitting from them and cold breathes coming from the thing’s nose and mouth then it shrieked and lunged at us and that’s when Minra shot a fireball at it that caused it to break into pieces and creating steam.” The scared yellow pegasis explained.

“Di-did you say zombie looking with blue eyes, stench of decay and cold breathes?” Twilight asked clearly scared.

“Yea why did you read about them?” Fluttershy asked.

“Y-yea that thing is a Draugr, and when there’s one, there’s usually more coming.” Twilight said as the group heard growls, shrieks, roars and the sound of dozens of hooves running which in turn woke up Spike.

Everypony rushed outside to Ponyville’s center to see some sort of fog that was moving closer to Ponyville, however they knew instantly that fog were actually Draugr. Some pegasi Draugr flew ahead from the rest and headed straight to Ponyville.

“Starlight, sound the Ponyville alarm, Minra try and keep the fliers busy, Spike send a letter to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna saying that an army of Draugr is heading straight for Ponyville, and in the meantime I’ll create a shield to protect Ponyville.” Twilight said.

“Fluttershy don’t worry everything will be alright.” Minra said as everypony went to do the things that they were told.

Minra flew to the Draugr pegasi and proceeded to do an aerial battle with them, as the Ponyville emergency alarm sounded and magic shield was set up shield of magic that would only provide a temporary means of protection but was soon destroyed when some Draugr unicorns shot some sort of ice magic bolts at it. More magic bolts rain down and created spikes of ice in Ponyville. Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash rushed over to a surprised Twilight and asked what was wrong.

“Ponyville is under attack by Draugr.” Twilight said.

“I’m sorry darling but what is a Drag-are?” Rarity asked.

“They’re ice zombie ponies and it’s pronounced Draw-gur.” Spike said after sending the letter when some pegasi Draugr flew into the town square but were soon engulfed in flames by Minra as he flew by telling the group that there’s no end to them.

Some Ice bolts had hit Sugarcube Corner, Twilight’s castle and the park however there was a large sound coming from the direction of where the army is heading. The nine ponies looked in the direction where the sound was coming from and much to their fright there were several large Draugr with others growing in size as well.

“Wait they can actually do that?” Rainbow Dash asked surprised.

“Yea and that’s not all they’re really strong.” Twilight said.

The stomping of the giant Draugr hooves felt like an earthquake, however one of the large Draugr unicorns shot a giant blast of ice at the group but the nine jumped out of the way of the large ice bolt that once hit the ground large ice spikes jolted out barely missing the eight ponies and the baby dragon.

“What are we going to do now?” Spike asked.

Just then there was a shout from Princess Luna who was using her Royal Canterlot voice as an army of Royal guards followed.

“Citizens of Ponyville you are under attack I repeat you are under attack evacuate immediately, there’s some zeppelins on the side of town opposite of Princess Twilight’s castle!” Princess Luna shouted.

“Applejack, Rainbow Dash help with the evacuations.” Twilight said as the two Ponies ran and flew to key points.

“Minra, join the front lines and make sure that no fliers attempt to breach the front lines, Fluttershy help find any pets that were abandoned, Pinkie help Fluttershy, Starlight, Spike and I will act as defense.” Twilight said.” Twilight said.

Soon the army that came from Canterlot stood in between Ponyville and the Draugr army with Minra joining the army. Among the Canterlot army were pegasi, unicorns, earth ponies, bat ponies, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna and Minra. Minra noticed that the two Princesses weren’t in their normal attire but in some battle Armour. One of which was pearl gold and lavender while the other was jet black.

“Minra what are you doing here?” Princess Celestia asked.

“Twilight sent me to help out seeing that I can breath fire.” Minra responded.

Princess Celestia nodded as she raised a hoof singling to her army to charge. Minra flew ahead of the now advancing army breathing blue fire as the pegasi rained magic fire grenades. The larger Draugr swatted at some of the pegasi sending them flying other Draugr shot a barrage of ice bolts at the Equestrian army but where quickly blocked by Twilight and Starlight. One of the huge Draugr pegasi knocked Minra away with a quick slap of it’s wing sending him hurdling straight to the ground but when he got up he saw the giant Draugr pegasis heading to the evacuation zeppelins.

“Where do you think you’re going!” Minra said as he grabbed the Draugr by the tail and throwing it away from Ponyville much to the Princesses surprise. Then he shot a rather large ball of flame at the now grounded Draugr which caused a cloud of steam to rise leaving some large bones.

The Equestrian army soon realized that they were out numbered seventy to one. Realizing that they had no choice the Equestrian Army had to retreat, the remaining unicorns and earth ponies along with the pegasi and the two Princesses boarded the remaining zeppelin while Minra made a wall of flame and soon flew away with the others, however some Draugr pegasi flew after them but Minra spotted this and shot fireballs at the pegasi. The zeppelin soon caught up with the others and soon landed in Canterlot.

“Princess Celestia what are we gonna do now?” Minra asked the white alicorn.

“Well we need to think of a plan, contact our allies, and monitor the Draugr’s advancement.” Princess Celestia responded.

“Sisters how did it go?” Prince Nebula asked as he went to greet them.

“Terrible, we were outnumbered seventy to one and we just barely made it out with a few casualties.” Princess Celestia said solemnly with her and her sister’s ears down.

“Wh-what about the civilian evacuations?” Prince Nebula asked.

“We were able to get all thy civilians out of harms way or at least for the most part.” Princess Luna interjected.

“Well that’s a good thing.” Prince Nebula said.

“Indeed but for now we should send the evacuees to the shelters for those who were evacuated, have them here in Canterlot, and the Crystal Empire.” Princess Celestia said telling some of her guards.

“As for the nine of you, you may stay in the castle with us until we’ve took back Ponyville.” Princess Celestia said.

“Wait Ponyville’s gone?” Prince Nebula said shocked.

“No but we had to leave it behind.” Minra chimed in.

“Minra how are you doing, well aside from what just happened.” Prince Nebula asked.

“Well I’m dating Fluttershy, and well...that’s about it.” Minra responded.

“Come on we’ll get you settled in.” Princess Luna said to the eight ponies and spike.

“Ponies of Ponyville, we may have evacuated and I know all seems lost but do not fret because we will defeat the Draugr and take back Ponyville but for now there’s evacuation centers in the Crystal Empire and here in Canterlot.” Princess Celestia said.

“What are we doing here, we should be out there fighting the Dragears.” Rainbow Dash said while frustrated.

“You heard her sugarcube, we were out numbered and even if we stayed we could of lost more.” Applejack said meanwhile Minra and Fluttershy hugged in relief that each other were okay.

“Principal Twilight what are we gonna do?” Sandbar asked Twilight.

“Well I think it would be best to send you home for now until we’ve gotten everything under control.” Twilight said.

“Spike, Can I ask something of you?” Princess Celestia asked.

“Sure thing, what is it?” Spike asked.

“I need you to send letters to our allies, can I entrust you with this task?” Princess Celestia asked.

Spike simply saluted as he walked with Celestia as she wrote letter after letter and Spike sent them to the Hippogriffs, Dragons, Changlings, Griffons, and the Yaks. Later the leaders of Equestria’s allies met with Prince Nebula.

“Hello My name is Prince Nebula, I’m Princess Luna and Princess Celestia’s younger brother and if you would follow me, I will take you to meet Princess Celestia.” Prince Nebula said as he introduced himself.

There was an old Griffon, that was mostly bald on his head that was a fez, he had a scar over one of his eyes his name is Grandpa Gruff. The Hippogriff was none other than Queen Novo who was pink and coloration with a crown that had blue feathers. The yak is Price Rutherford who was brownish orange with huge horns and some gold clothing. The next creature was the new Changling leader, Thorax who was lime green, purple eyed and had orange antlers with transparent lavender wings. The final creature was a blue dragon who had ram horns, reddish orange eyes and blue wings named Ember. Following their leaders were Ocellus, Gallus, Silverstream, Smolder, and Yona. The eleven creatures headed their way to Princess Celestia’s castle with a royal guard escort. The group soon reached the castle where they were led into the throne room.

“Hello, thank you for coming here however I wish it was for a better reason.” Princess Celestia said.

“Do you mind telling us why you asked us here?” Grandpa Gruff asked while coughing.

“Well Ponyville was attacked by a group of undead Ponies called Draugr who will stop at nothing to cover the world in ice and snow, there was so many that we had to retreat and we would be honored if you would help us defeat the Draugr?” Princess Celestia asked.

“Yaks help pony friends!” Prince Rutherford said.

“We would be honored to help.” Thorax said.

“As are we” Queen Novo responded bowing her head.

“Sure.” Ember said.

“What’s in it for us Griffons?” Grandpa Gruff asked.

“We’ll give you bits and have a feast?” Princess Celestia said.

Grumbling Grandpa Gruff agreed to have the griffons help.

“So what’s the plan?” Thorax asked.

“Well judging by the direction of where the Draugr are heading we should create a wall of fire for the earth pony Draugr, then drop boulders on them and attack from the sky and sea, along with some infiltrates, then finally charge at them full force.” Celestia said.

“Plan good by Yak standards.” Prince Rutherford exclaimed.

“I like it, so when will we be dispatched?” Ember asked.

“Tomorrow, we will have the dragons create a large wall of flame, the Griffons will drop the boulders, The Hippogriffs will be the surprise attack, the Changlings will infiltrate the Draugr and take them out one by one, and finally all of us will charge in and attack but for now get some rest tomorrow is a big day, oh and before I forget this is Minra, he’ll be leading the dragons along with Spike, Ember, and Smolder.” Princess Celestia said.

“But he’s just an earth pony.” Ember said confused.

“That may appear that way but trust me he’s much much more, now Minra if you may?” Princess Celestia asked.

Minra nodded as he transformed into his dragon pony form. The group was amazed and confused at the same time but decided not to question it. The next day the Changlings transformed into Draugr and proceeded to take them out one by one, ahead of the Draugr army, the Dragons created a wall of flame that spread for a long long line, the Hippogriffs who were now sea ponies in the water waited, some zeppelins flew over head with coal, and boulders that the Griffons were ready to push. Meanwhile the rest were hiding in the shrubbery and clouds ready to charge. When the Draugr were in sight they stopped their charge immediately due to the wall of flame they turned to try and go another direction when they they were stopped by the Changlings and that's when the signal came and a bombardment of boulders fell and landed on several of the Draugr dramatically reducing the already reduced numbers. The Draugr that were closest to the water were immediately attacked by the Hippogriffs and then all the troops charged with the Yaks and Dragons being in ahead. The Draugr that grew in size were set ablaze by Minra and the dragons, the Changlings did what they do best and transformed into several of the creatures and attacked some of which were Hydras, Chimeras, Manticores, and a Kracken. The Yaks rammed some of the Draugr into the wall of flame. Meanwhile the Griffons, and Hippogriffs grabbed some Draugr and flung them into the air where they were burnt my the dragons. However they soon found themselves outnumbered when more Draugr had shown up out of nowhere, causing the numbers to be higher in Draugr then the others. One particular blast of Ice magic had hit Minra and froze him, however it didn’t last long because he soon burst out into a much larger, more dragon looking form much to the creature's delight but it wasn’t enough. The allied creatures were now being over run when a large boulder came hurdling to the Draugr army and as it did it split into several spikes that caught fire and pierced some Draugr. When the creatures turned to see where the boulder came from, they happened upon six ponies, one was a medium stone gray unicorn stallion who had a large white beard and tail, he wore a magician’s hat and cape that had several stars and moons on them, next to him was a tall looking earth pony stallion who was azure blue in coloration, with an orange beard, mane and tail, he wore some rustic looking clothing with three gray triangles as his cutie mark and carried a shovel with him. Next to him was a yellow stallion pegasis that was dressed in some sort of spartan armor, the next pony was a peach colored pegasis mare dressed in Egyptian style clothing, next to her was a light lavender unicorn mare who has a curved horn, is rather old looking and has a flowing mane and tail. The final pony was a dark azure earth pony stallion who wore some tribal clothing. Along with them were a bunch of Bison behind them and some Crystal Ponies along with Shining Armour, Princess Cadence, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Twilight, a weird looking creature that looked like some sort of chimera, and Prince Nebula. The group charged to the Draugr as the creatures who were fighting them proceeded to attack as well with a new found energy. Even though the battle was long the allied creatures were winning and slowly the Draugr were eventually defeated. Once the battle was finished every creature cheered. Later that day a huge feast was held in the royal dinning hall of Canterlot Castle, there there was all sorts of food some were gems, others were salads, cake and such.

“I would like to thank each and everyone of you for helping us to defeat the Draugr, we surely wouldn’t be able to do it without you.” Princess Celestia said as she proposed a toast.

The next day everycreature went home including Minra and his friends where they went to see the damage that Ponyville took and much to their surprise much of it was fine, asides from some ice spikes that were the result of the first battle and were soon melted by Minra and once that was done and any damages fixed the residents of Ponyville were able to head home.

“Hey Twilight there’s something I been wondering since we defeated the Draugr.” Minra said.

“And what would that be?” Twilight asked.

“Well Draugr usually don’t form armies and attack random towns unless somepony defiled their grave or they were being controlled.” Minra said.

“Now that you mention it that does seem pretty odd that Draugr would form an army and attack, I’ll do some research.” Twilight replied.

“Okay, I’ll go and see if Fluttershy needs any help with the animals.” Minra said as he trotted off.

“Hey Fluttershy, need any help?” Minra asked Fluttershy.

“Oh hey Minra, I could use some help, some of the animals are still on edge after all that has happened and fled, could help me find them you know if you want?” Fluttershy asked. Minra nodded as he asked what animals were missing.

“Oh some goats and a couple of bunnies.” Fluttershy responded.

Soon Minra and Fluttershy found all of the missing animals and brought them back to their respective homes.

“Oh Minra I’m sorry I haven't introduced you two yet but this is Discord, the lord of chaos.” Fluttershy said as she motioned to the chimera looking creature that had the head of a goat the body of a hawk snake hybrid, an arm of a lion, and hawk, the leg of a dragon, the leg of a deer with a dragon tail, a bat wing and a bird wing an antler, some sort of twisted horn, a singular fang, and yellow and red eyes.

“Minra was it? it’s a pleasure to meet you, Fluttershy has told me all about you when we have our tea parties.” Discord said raising a hand only for it to turn into a tea set.

“It’s nice to meet you to.” Minra said holding out a hoof.

“Indeed it is, want a flying cupcake.?” Discord asked.

“Heck yea!” Minra said as Discord snapped some fingers causing a cupcake with wings to appear.

“I’m glad you two are becoming such friends but if you excuse me I have to feed my animal friends.” Fluttershy said trotting off.

“Now if you break that cinnamon roll’s heart I’ll break you, do you understand me!” Discord told Minra sternly. Minra simply nodded.

“Good.” Discord said happily.
