Chapter 25: Date Night 2

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

It was a few weeks since Cloud and Sunset’s first date, Sunset shook her head as she walked alongside Cloud as full moon shone light a beacon in the night “I keep telling Rainbow she has to be patient, that what’s I’m teaching her took me two years to learn and I was considered a prodigy by my mentor.”

Cloud laughed “Rainbow’s like that, I swear she doesn’t know when to sit still but when push comes to shove she will stand by you to the end.”

Sunset frowned “It also doesn’t help that I have to drag her out of Applejack’s trees sometimes. She is so lazy sometimes, I swear I may have to cast an alarm spell on her soon.”

Cloud blinked in shock “There is a spell that can do that?!”

It was Sunset’s turn to laugh“There is a spell for pretty much anything, there is even a spell to create a universe or to destroy one” she giggled at Cloud’s horrified expression “Don’t worry no-one, not even the Princess has the power to cast such a powerful spell.”

Cloud took a deep breath “That had me worried, powerful magic like that shouldn’t be used for any reason.”

Sunset nodded “It’s sealed in Celestia’s vault and a being must be as powerful her or greater to get in.”

Cloud nodded before looking at the moon noticing the pony shape “Do you have any idea why the mare on the moon is there. I have heard the tale of Nightmare Moon but why is it actually there.”

Sunset frowned “I believe the that tale of Nightmare Moon is factual but with a few extra details left out. Note how they use the word unicorn, I believe that term is specifically designed to throw one off. They are both Alicorns, that is abundantly clear as it makes no sense that a unicorn could raise the sun or moon on their own.”

Cloud blinked “Wait that means, Celestia is the one who banished her and that Nightmare Moon is her younger sister… and she’s you Aunt!”

Sunset nodded “Yes, and she is to return soon. I may have to confront my aunt in combat, still I have the advantage as her skills and ablities are one thousand years out of date.”

Cloud frowned “Is there anyway I can help you?”

Sunset smiled “Well it would help if you could make sure that nopony gets in the way, it wouldn’t be good for me to be concerned about the ponies around me as I fight.”

Cloud looked around “Anyway why are we out in the Whitetail Woods at this time at night.”

Sunset grinned “I’ll show you, follow me.” Cloud raised an eyebrow as he followed the orange unionised only to see a clearing with a blanket lying there covered in food. Sunset’s horn glowed and an invisible barrier came down around the food.

Cloud looked at the sandwiches, pies along with the chocolate cake in the middle. Cloud blinked “When did you have time to make this?’

Sunset smiled “I had Pinkie assist me, she is a masterful baker and I learned a lot from her. Actually I’m curious about something, how did meet Rainbow Dash?”

Cloud frowned “Would believe it if we got into fight when we first met, I was a lot more rigid when I moved here. Rainbow Dash was just being her bragging self but that rubbed me the wrong way, I was only for a week when I puled her out the sky and sent to the hospital for a month.”

Sunset blinked “She forgave you for that, I must admit I’m a little surprised about that.”

Cloud frowned “It took a year before she wouldn’t run from me and from what I heard from others she was always keeping one eyes out as if she expected me to try again. It probably didn’t help that I was trying to permanently ground her, if the local police didn’t restrain me I would have ripped her wings off.”

Sunset tapped her horn with a frown “I know how shocking it is for a unicorn if their horn is damaged. There is a way to fix it but it is considered forbidden dark magic, only Celestia know the spell. I assume a pegasi’s wings are similar, it can be crippling for a pegasus to lose their wings.”

Cloud nodded shamefully “Indeed, and I didn’t care. I was sick of her ego and I thought what better way than to take her flight away. It shocked me that she let what I did go so easily as if it never happened, she even got me a job with the local weather team. I had seen so much fighting that I couldn’t believe the kindness I was being shown.”

Sunset nodded “I get that, I got the same feeling with you. How could one accept a monster like me, one who would kill without a second thought if I deemed it necessary?”

Cloud gave her a small kiss “You’re not a monster, Sunset I know that as does you family.”

Sunset smiled “Thanks Cloud, I’m glad to have you by my side. I never thought I would do this you know, always scared I would die leaving the pony who I love behind.”

Cloud put a wing around her “It’s the life of a soldier, I understand better than most.” The pair embraced before digging into the picnic as the stars sparkled overhead.
