Sunset woke up at three before the sun rose, she had a shower and got dressed in her uniform when an officer kicked down her door. Sunset frowned “That was very rude!”

The earth pony stallion bowed “Forgive me I assumed you were asleep, I came to inform you that you’re supposed to meet in the training grounds in an hour wearing this.”

Sunset frowned at the uniform the stallion placed on the ground, it was the same as hers but it had ‘Spec Ops’ on it “Very well, I’ll be there soon.” Sunset got changed and had a quick muffin before heading out.

She arrived at the training grounds to see a massive field with two ponies, one pegasi stallion and one unicorn mare standing there, she trotted over and saluted “Reporting for Duty.”

The mare laughed “At ease, Officer Shimmer I’m Captain Frosty Mist and my friend here is Spec Op Hellion Spark” she then looked at Sunset “You are going to have a rough first day, we usually don’t take recruits mid-year but the Princess was insistent.” She gave Sunset a rubber knife and a gun with blanks “You will need these.”

Sunset nodded as she strapped them to her uniform, she then returned to the line and stood at attention just as the first ops arrived, one of the stallions commented “Well at least the newbie is punctual.”

Another walked up to her and glared “Listen here, I don’t know why the Princess put you with us but you should give up, you have no place here!”

Sunset remained still as she stood at attention, Captain Mist moved forward in front of them “Today we are doing a test match, you are all fighting each other to see who has the most talent. Each of you are to take a handgun loaded with blanks and a blunt combat knife, now go and take positions.”

Sunset and the others all ran to a large field covered with pieces of concrete, parked vehicles and hay bails. Sunset galloped behind and armour truck, she heard Captain Mist boom “Begin!”

Sunset grimaced as she poked her head around the corner only to see one of the stallions from earlier fire at her, begin shooting at her. She ducked behind the cover and frowned (Okay he’s got me pinned, now what.) She turned to the truck and grinned, the stallion firing at her growled “Stop hiding from me you little…”

He gasped in shock as the truck came flying towards him only for three bullets to slam into his forehead. Sunset then saw a pale blue unicorn mare with a dark green mane hiding behind a hay bail as three Earth ponies were pinning her down, she now standing on her hind legs ran towards them hitting the first two with a few shots before pulling out her knife stabbing the third in the gut. She then walked over to the hay bails and held out her hoof “You alright?”

The mare nodded “Those three have been going after me since day one, they hate me for some reason I’m not sure of.”

Sunset grimaced “Then they’re in their in the wrong profession, now come let’s who them who’s boss.”

The mare looked up “My name is Aqua Mist, what’s your name?”

Sunset smiled “I’m Sunset Shimmer and I…” Sunset eyes widened as a mare leapt at her, but in her mind was no longer in the field she was in the ruins of Squirrel City a Licker leaping towards her.

She grabbed the Licker by the neck and threw it at another Licker before shooting both of them with three bullets. She then rushed turned towards another three Lickers who were running towards her she dodged a few normal zombies as she was running. She realised her gun was out of bullets and put it away as she pulled out her knife, she then kicked one with her leg before showing a knife into another. She then backflipped slamming the third into the ground.

Captain Mist was horrified as she watched the rookie tearing apart her elites with only a knife. She was even dodging the gunshots, being fired at her. Spec Op Hellion was grinning madly, Captain Mist put her radio and called for backup, soon a massive mech landed.

Sunset frowned as the Lickers began to run past her, she turned around and growled as she saw an abomination from Squirrel City “G!” She rushed forward dodging the swing from the arm, she swung her knife at the arm only for it to bounce of harmlessly.

She dodged a swing and tore off one of it’s arms of with a swing of her claws, she then slammed the claw into the beast tearing in half leaving it lying on the ground. She began to fill her adrenaline start to lessen and the world returned to normal the corpse of G turning into a mech suit, the destroyed background returning to the training ground of Canterlot.

She shook her head as realised what she had done, it truly sunk in when she saw several bleeding ponies lying there. Captain Mist jumped down as the Sunset began to panic “Why did you do that?!”

Sunset looked up fear in her eyes “I had a flashback, back to Squirrel City during the incident I was standing in the city and Lickers were everywhere trying to attack me and then G appeared as well.”

Captain Mist eye’s widened to size of dinner plates “You were in that city during the incident!”

Sunset nodded fear in her eyes “It was terrifying but I had to stay strong or else I would have died.” Captain Mist then galloped away to get the doctors leaving everyone else behind unaware theta Princess Celestia was flying toward the group.
