Spike's Diary

Dear Diary,

Today I'm busy doing something that, quite frankly, I was not expecting to have to do when I woke up this morning. You see, Applejack and Fluttershy have just been sent on a friendship mission, but to a place that is apparently inhabited by creatures called Kirin. I've never heard of them before, but Twilight found out about them through, what else, her books. But since AJ and Flutters won't be back for a while, Twilight's decided she can't wait for them to get back before learning more about them. So, she's roped me into helping her do as much knowledge-gathering as she can about these Kirin and what they're like.

Now, enjoy learning about new peoples as much as the next dragon. It's always interesting. But did I really have to be woken up for this? I mean sure, it's kinda cool how there's also this dangerous group called Nirik roaming about in the same place, and that it's mysterious that they and the Kirins have never been met by a pony before or had any real contact with them, but can't all that wait until after I've had my breakfast?

Ugh. Never mind. Maybe if I just put on my "eyes open" glasses, Twilight won't notice I've fallen asleep again. Oh, who am I kidding, of course, she will.
