Chapter 03 - The First Missing Case

Destroyah followed sluggishly behind Twilight as she kept on asking many questions about his world, severely trying its patience. It soon zoned out her voice as it began to focus more on the crowds of ponies they past, each one staring with horror at the beast while thoughts of what their soft, sweet flesh would taste like under its hideous tongue lashed through its mind. Twilight soon noticed that Destroyah had ceased to converse and looked back to see what it was doing, noticing the disgusted crowds.

"Oh ignore them, they have just never seen something like you before. It puts them on edge."

"We don't care. They should be on edge.."

Twilight stopped in front of a tree with windows, a door, and from what Destroyah could spot a balcony in the branches? Twilight unlocked the door to the library and let the kaiju in. Destroyah swiveled its head around, looking at all the books lined up on the managers of shelves. It scraped its way over to the 'Fiction' section, its eyes scanning over the labels.

"My little dashie... Hellsing... Star Wars? What is this?!"

"Like what you see?"

"There is nothing about kaiju!"

"Kaiju?" Twilight asked. There was a slight pause.

"Never mind.... Besides that, it's not bad." Destroyah was not used to giving compliments in any fashion, it hated the though as he begrudgingly replied.

"Twi you're home early and wh- SWEET CELESTIA WHAT IS THAT!?" Spike screamed out as he entered the room. Destroyah grew tired of this nonsense and its appetite grew larger by the minute, this pathetic dragon would not be tolerated! It unfurled its draconic wings and with a single flap, it was meters in the air, towering over them both as the tree itself shook from the sheer power of its takeoff.

"Fool! We are Destroyah! We are death! How dare you not know our glorious name?!" Destroyah roared out as its maw filled with heliotrope micro-oxygen energy.

The little dragon squealed in terror and ran back to hide behind Twilight rear legs. Twilight immediately took control of the situation.

"Calm down! Not every pony has seen or heard of you yet! You may have been so powerful and recognizable in your world but not here! Just because ponies don't know you doesn't give you the authority to take it out in poor Spike!" Twilight yelled out, not realizing her harsh tone.

"Oh my, I am sooo sorry. I didn't mean to scream at you."

"It is fine, we are the ones to... a-a-apologize... we o-o-overr-r-reacted." Destroyah said, trying to push those hanis words out of its mouth. It would be bad if it attacked and destroyed them now, it needed more time to observe them and plan its attack strategy. These creatures posed little threat on their own, a single pony being far weaker in every respect to Destroyah, but with their strong bonds of friendship and numerous allies, they could be a challenge to take down all at once. It would have to stalk and wait, at least for the time being. Anyway, it still didn't know who this Celestia being was who appeared to be their god or goddess, maybe it would taste better than that dreaded Tofu guy. However, Destroyah was drawn out of its deep thought when the door opened. A small yellow filly with a red mane and a red bow in her hair walked in. She instantly shrunk back at the regal and raw appearance of Destroyah who had now returned to base level and stared very coldly as the intruder. Twilight walked over and put a comforting hoof on her shoulder.

"Its ok. He's our guest here. He'll be staying the night, maybe longer, depending on his situation."

"R-really?!" The terrified pony stuttered, "H-hai Mister."

Destroyah simply nodded its head.

"So how are you today Applebloom?"

"Not so good."

"Really? What's up?"

"The Flim Flam Brothers came back for round two. I mean we ran em' out again but they sure have some gall."

"Oh sorry to hear. Perhaps they will stay away for good this time."

"Say yah got mah' book Twi?"

"Yes right here." Twilight said as she handed Applebloom a copy of 'The very hungry caterpillar'. All the while Destroyah had been listening keenly, sensing a free meal at the sound of two unwanted thugs on the loose. Whoever these Flim Flam Brothers were, they where obviously hated and would not be missed in the least! A perfect opportunity to strike! It swallowed a mouthful of saliva in anticipation, trying to keep its devious thoughts concealed. Destroyah was only snapped out of its fantasy when the door closed, alerting it to its surroundings, and Twilight turned to face him.

"Uh we don't have a guest room so I can take the couch if you wish."

"No we will sleep on the balcony. We like the cool night air."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

"Well your speech is at least improving."

"It is?"

"It most certainly is. Though a bit heavy and guttural but still, better!"

"Good!"

Destroyah nodded and spread his wings, not wanting to waste time or energy climbing these prehistoric stairs. Within seconds it had reached the doors to the balcony and swung them open with great force before closing them back up, trapping himself outside. It folded its wings and lay down, gently for once, on its side and curled up into a hideous ball of devilish thorns. Now all it had to do was wait for Twilight to fall asleep, her and that mini, bite-sized snack of a dragon.

A few hours passed and Destroyah was still in a trans state, leaving only his ears open to listen for the telltale sign of slumber. Twilight finally crawl into bed and soon enough her breathing became deep and slow as sounds of snoring began to rise, it was time. Destroyah waited prone for a little while until he was absolutely positive she was asleep, then it rose. It got up and stretched out its wings, feeling the cool night air under its thick membranes. Destroyah leaped from the balcony with ease and began to soar across the midnight sky. It flew past the village, past Sweet Apple Acres and beyond. If they were beaten back only a few hours prior, they couldn't be far. Destroyah flew across the horizon, searching for a sign of their existence. Before long, a small light coming from a gap in the tree cover nearby caught its golden eyes in the darkness. It flew off a couple of miles from the orchard and spotted a dim light below it. A fire lit up a small campground below him and seated on two logs opposite from each other were the ponies he had been searching for, his prey at last! Hmm, two horned ponies together might not be the best idea, Destroyah though to himself, I should separate them, divide and conquer!

Destroyah landed away from the camp on the edge of the forest with a gentle step so he wouldn't alert his prey. The ponies where laughing and drinking heavily, it knew they would be off guard! It intentionally struck a tree with its hind leg to get their attention, making something in the trunk snap with a loud crack. The noise was so loud, even the birds of the forest returned to the safety of the skies. Both heads snapped up and looked in the area Destroyah was.

"Flim, would ya' mind looking for whatever made that noise? It sounded like something REALLY big!"

"Certainly Flam." The younger unicorn said, not realizing the danger that lay ahead.

Flim got up and walked over to Destroyah's general area, unaware of the demon's presence. It grinned widely knowing that its targets were even stupider than anticipated. Flim stopped at the very edge of the tree line, barley visible to Flam.

"I see nothing brother! It must have been the wi- AHHHH!!"

Flam could vaguely see his brother as something pulled him into the brush.

"Flim! Where are you brother?!

"OH CELESTIA HELP ME!!!"

"Brother where are you?!" Flam cried out with no response.

"HEL-"

The scream was cut off with a dreaded gurgle as Destroyah ripped the helpless unicorn apart! Hideous sounds of tearing flesh and cracking bone rose from the forest and then it all ceased.

"Flim?!" Flam exclaimed but there was again no response. All he could see was two blazing gold eyes staring at him with rage in the darkness before the creature burst from the foliage and disappeared in the night sky. Flam backed up very slowly, scanning the surrounding area for any signs of the murderer. He continued to back up from the attack site until his flak came into contact with a solid and cold mass. His head slowly tuned around in terror to see what it was, only to sighed in relief, realizing it was only his apple cider-making machine. But his eyes continued to scan the forest, sensing the murderer was still around. Nothing moved, the forest was quiet, very quiet, too quiet. Then, from behind, Flam heard a large thud shake the ground as a menacing snarl rose into the air. He turned to face the creature which was just outside of the firelight. All he saw was it's blazing yellow eyes and the demonic contour of its massive body, since the details were blurred by the darkness. Flam took a tiny step back and the figure reared up, stroking its massive wings and extinguishing the fire; Flam was out of light and out of time! Flam panicked, kicking back as he whipped around to turn tail and flee. Unaware of his surrounds, Flam ran head-first into his apple cider-making devise. He crashed to the ground, his head aching but he knew that if he passed out, that was it! He raised himself and ran for dear life, disoriented and out of stamina. Destroyah easily caught up to his stumbling form and with a dreadful flash of its needle-like, blood-drenched teeth, it struck with deadly force and accuracy. There was nothing the unicorn could do as Destroyah charged and sunk its fangs deep into Flam flank, tearing off his right hind leg! Flam screamed in utter pain but his misery was short lived... just not short enough! Destroyah tore at his flank with his huge claws and dagger-like tail, tearing his stomach open and exposing his slimy innards which spewed onto the floor, drenching it in warm blood. Flam collapsed onto the floor on his side, his intestines laying on the floor before him. His vision began to blur as his life force faded. All he could see was the hideous claws of Destroyah which paced around his dying form, letting the pour soul suffer some more before it finished him off. Flam was in pain greater than anything he had experienced before, he knew the end was near. Destroyah, knowing the patterns of death, noticed Flam was drawing his last breath and delivered the final blow. Flam let out one last scream but alas, it was cut short as his throat was torn out, ending his life.

Its prey was slaughtered and now all that was left to do was consume. Destroyah lowered its blood-drenched head and began to devour its kill, ripping through flesh and bone with ease. It made short work of the unicorn's soft flesh. When Destroyah had finished its meal, it trashed the rest of the campsite, making sure no one would know who did it then took to the pitch-black skies once again, its hunger dulled and its satisfaction almost complete.

AppleJack and Big Mac were awakened by the piteous screams and ran to the area where they had originated. They found a trashed campsite: torn tents, shredded steel from the Flim Flam Brother's machine, and a silenced fire but there were no signs of the brothers themselves.

"Hey AppleJack, ya' might wanna' take a gander at this!" Big Mac called as he pointed to a dark puddle on the floor just to the side of the totaled campsite.

"Oh sweet Celestia, that's blood!" AppleJack screamed.

"What happened to dem' pour souls?" Big Mac asked to no one in particular.

"I don't know but it must a' been an awful way ta' go!" AppleJack replied. There was a trail from the large puddle leading to a smaller one nearby, it must have been a struggle. They continued to search for signs of life, even searching the very edge of the Everfree.

"Big Mac, I found me somethin' else!" AppleJack called out, terrified by what she found. Before her stood an enormous tree which had been split by a massive amount of force. But that was not the scary part of the tree, what terrified them the most was that it was drenched with splattered blood along with the surrounding foliage.

"Well, we know were dis' murderer struck, once here and another time near the campsite. It must a' separated dem'."

"Ah reckon we gots a real mystery here."

"Eeeyup."

The two terrified ponies were oblivious to know that the killer soared right above their heads, silent in the darkness of the night. Destroyah admired its glorious handiwork, a calling card to the authorities and only the first of many tragedies this demonic kaiju will cause upon these beautiful lands. After a few minutes, Destroyah was satisfied with its work and returned to its perch on the library's balcony. It landed quietly not to awaken Twilight or her peaky dragon and licked itself clean of the fresh blood spattered across its gnarled armor. This was to be a fun place, Destroyah thought to itself as it inwardly grinned with evil!
