Chapter 04 - The Library

Destroyah slowly slid its eyes open, registering that dawn was approaching and the sun would be up in less than an hour. Destroyah felt something warm draped over its hard body. It swiveled its head around to see a purple cloth covering its body. There was something else cuddled up near its form, something alive! It could sense her slowed heart as it moved its body away from hers. It wanted nothing to do with her.

It was obvious, however, that Twilight, still fast asleep, was shivering, freezing in the outdoor winter environment. It was clear that she shared feeling for the kaiju despite its grotesque appearance, and wanted to contort it during the night at her own detriment. Destroyah could not understand how anyone could ever feel anything for its merciless soul. Her actions confused its cluttered mind but it couldn't think under the burning conditions under the blanket. If quickly lifted the now heated cloth off its body and draped it over hers. She instantly cuddled up with the worm fabric and stopped her shivering. Destroyah wrapped her up nice and tight for easy transport and flew her over to her bed, laying her back down in absolute silence. After taking a few seconds to pity her weak form, it exited the small room, closing the door behind itself. Destroyah moved downstairs and paced violently, raging inside about what he had done.

"Why did we do such egregious things?! We have no emotions, no pity, no generosity, no heart, how can this happen?! Perhaps we just simply abhor sickened sustenance! Yes, that's it! For the chase to be worth while, our prey must be fresh and healthy!"

Destroyah sought to reassure himself with that thought, succeeding for the current moment. It wasn't everyday that someone, anyone, decided to cuddle up next to the kaiju of death. Destroyah was split, has this world softened me, no, never, I am beyond that, it though to itself. It finally decide to seat itself on the nearby couch, pulling out a random book from the non-fiction section of the library as it sat. Maybe it could gain a little insight on this strange place of friendship and ponies. The book had a cyan blue cover which read 'My Little Dashie'. The name sounded familiar to the demon kaiju but it couldn't put a claw on it. It shrugged and opened the book sluggishly, soon realizing its eyes were not use too making out such small objects or, in this case, words. The kaiju swiveled its head around, searching for something that could enhance its vision. Sure enough on the coffee table sat a pair of half-moon glasses. Destroyah knew little about these peculiar objects but when it put them on, its vision was instantly enhanced, at least for short-range viewing. Destroyah returned to the book and began reading, scanning every word with detail for maximum absorption.

An hour or so had passed since Twilight had stopped shivering and had been placed in her bed by the 'heartless' Destroyah. She slowly rolled out, still not fully awake, and glanced at the still sleeping Spike beside her. Twilight stretched out her limbs as her memory was jogged, she hadn't lost consciousness there but on the balcony, next to Destroyah. She sluggishly exited her room and looked out onto the porch but there was no one in sight. She slowly trotted downstairs and saw it seated on the couch in absolute silence with a book in claw. She smirked with a knowing smile and walked into the kitchen, eager to prepare breakfast. Destroyah was so engrossed in

the book that it took no notice of her presence whatsoever. After about another half hour of intense reading, Destroyah closed the book, placing it aside on the nearby table. It had no idea that any creature could have such complex emotions. It knew that humans where evil, insane creatures with a MASSIVE superiority complex yet no wisdom to control it but this book made it question that judgement. Is everything we know wrong, no, of course not, killing is the only way, Destroyah though to himself. Destroyah raised himself from the soft couch, his mind still twisted and in a state of discord from all the ridiculousness this strange dimension had to offer.

"No! Don't think like this! All life is meant to sustain us! We were born in the beginning

and we will create the end!" Destroyah said in a strong voice, alerting Twilight to his activeness, "We- ... What is that heavenly aroma?!"

Destroyah whipped its head back and forth, trying to pinpoint were the scent was originating. Its excellent senses soon pointed it to a room with a white-tiled floor and flat white walls known as the kitchen. Destroyah quickly moved towards the scent and entered the room, eager to see what it was. It moved to the counter, observing the broiling coffee pot, as it began sniffing the dark, heated liquids.

"Want some coffee?"

Destroyah leaped into the air in surprise and bashed its head through the ceiling, leaving it central horn stuck and its body suspended. Twilight giggled uncontrollable, trying to keep it to herself with little success. Destroyah raged, blazing its horn with crimson micro-oxygen energy as it torn through the roof, freeing itself. Destroyah came down with a great thud, crushing the floor tiles under its clawed feet. Destroyah snarled violently at Twilight, raging inside believing this was all a prank. Twilight was stunned by its display of rage for such a little matter and upon seeing the aghast look on he face, Destroyah knew that to obtain the maximum amount of energy from this gold mine dimension, he would have to keep quite. Ceasing laser horn, Destroyah calmed itself and apologized for overreacting, hating every lie that spewed out of its deadly jaws.

"We are sorry for our actions, we merely overreacted." Destroyah said, finally getting the hang of stating things that were clear lies.

"Oh no, I should apologize for scaring you in the first place!" Twilight replied. Destroyah sat down next to the coffee pot and let the soothing aroma melt all his rage away, though it still lingered inside.

"So, it looks like the doomsday dragon is not so tough after all! You're just a big softie!"

"Excuse us?!" Destroyah, said, wanting not to lash out at her for the unholy insult.

"Oh come on, I know you have a soft side! I saw how you put me back in my bed tough guy!"

"That was for our own reasons... not out of pity!" Destroyah replied, raging inside.Twilight gave it a humorous look, knowing that he was only blowing off smoke.

Either way, she decided, noticing the scowling look on the demon's face, to not mention the book for now since the the kaiju reactions were priceless!

Twilight continued to giggle a bit. The kaiju knew it was best to not respond, so it just slumping over chin, resting on the cold table surface. Twilight smirked. Point one goes to the unicorn but Destroyah would not be phased! Twilight got up from the table and poured a mug of coffee and slid it to Destroyah. The kaiju looked at it for a moment, not sure what the smoking, blackened liquid was, before taking a tiny lap with its serpentine tongue. Destroyah's rage instantly melted away as the delicious substance rolled down its throat, it had to have more! Wasted no time, Destroyah crashed its head into the mug and exhaled the blissful drink, savoring every last drop.

"This drink, we like it! Another!" Destroyah said, slamming his claws against the counter. Twilight smiled and flicked the kaiju's rock-hard nose. Destroyah was stunned.

"I don't think so mister! We don't need you all jittery when you meet Princess

Celestia!"

"What do you mean, what does this divine drink have to do with actions?!"

"It's coffee, it has caffeine in it, hello?!"

Destroyah still didn't understand what she meant but it decide to not question and reluctantly handed the mug back over to Twilight, sliding its tongue back in to catch any remaining deliciousness before it did.

A knocking came to the door. Twilight instantly raised herself and scampered off to go get it. She was eagerly greeted by her cheerful friends. After ushering them in they sat and talked for several minutes, leaving Destroyah out of the conversation, until they finally called it in. It was Twilight who spoke.

"So should we get going? I'm sure old softie here would love to meet the Princess."

Destroyah smashed its elbow into hers with quit some force as it whispered "Don't ever call me that again!"

Destroyah wanted to tear her throat right out but knew it would be best not to.

"Whatever you say Mr. D!" Twilight replied. Destroyah was not impressed with its new nickname but anything was better than the disgraceful softie! It would have rather been slaughters by Burning Godzilla back in its old universe with the rest of its kin then be subjected to such horrific condemnation!

"Well in all actuality darling do you really think its such a good idea?"

"Of course! You don't care what other ponies think of you do you D?"

Destroyah shrugged indicating he didn't give a damn. Why would its prey's opinion mean anything to it? They would all be slain in the end!

"Then its settled!"

"Jus' a second sugar cube!"

"What is it AppleJack?"

"Did Applebloom say anythin' to y'all?"

"Yes she mentioned the Flim, Flam Brothers. Are they giving you more trouble?"

"Y'all could say tha'. Big Mac n' ah heard lots o' commotion outside last night an

when we got there, we found ourselves a trashed campsite and a while lota' blood!" The ponies in the room grew silent upon hearing the word 'blood' leak from her mouth while Destroyah simply gave a twisted grin that went unnoticed, realizing that his handiwork was not left unnoticed. "Mac n' ah recon its tha' Timber Wolves. Ah mean they were so

close to tha' Everfree."

"Oh the poor souls!"

Destroyah filed that information away, now realizing that the forest meant a free hunting ground.

"Well ah guess we ought ta' get goin'!"

"Right! We need to report this to Princess Celestia ASAP!"

The ponies got up almost in unison, preparing to leave the building, or more accurately the tree, instantly. Destroyah looked them over, noticing they all sprouted strange markings on their flanks.

"What are those patterns on your rears?"

"Eh? What an odd question! They are cutie marks, silly! We all get them when we find our special talents!"

Destroyah shrugged and rose, understanding that its question was meaningless... at least for the time being.

"What a strange world." Destroyah said as it exited the library with the rest of the lot.

"And dear you look absolutely dreadful with those reading glasses!"

Rarity flicked the half moon glasses off of Destroyah's nose, causing him to

flinch slightly. It forgot that it was still wearing them from its little reading session. Rarity also leaned in and whispered harshly in its ear.

"That was for partially burning my tail you freak!"

Destroyah rolled its eyes, realizing her childish behavior. It wanted to strike back but knew that her time was near, all it had to do was site back and wait! Lost in though, Destroyah was almost left behind as the ponies trotted towards the train station.

"Come on Mr. D! We gotta' go!" Twilight said a she looked back to alert it to their departure. Destroyah instantly snapped out of its trans and spread its wings, quickly rising into the skies and following the group. As it landed on the edge of their mass, exposing its ghastly form when retracting its wings, the nearby crowds were terrified and stunned. Rarity was especially not comfortable with the beast next to hear for it drove her usually crowding fans away. It wasn't all bad though, Destroyah kept the lines short and granted them access to their own free car! None of the guards dared to challenge its might!
