Anakin Skywalker was not in a good mood. After returning to Coruscant after Muunilinst, he was hoping to spend some time with his wife, Padme Amidala. The Jedi and the Senator were married in secret, as Jedi were forbidden from falling in love, let alone get married. They were forced to meet in secret, in the lowly street of Coruscant, rather same at her home, safe and in private.

Unfortunately, just as he was ready to take her back to her apartment to spend the night, he was hailed back to the Jedi Temple by the Council. It angered him to no end. Why must he keep his love a secret? Why must he be in love in the first place? Why? Why? Why? The one question he keeps asking, and he knew he would never get an answer.

He approached the Council Chamber, then stopped as a hooded Obi-Wan Kenobi turned to face him.

“Anakin, you’re late.” He scolded. The padawan groaned and rolled his eyes. He was used to this, probably more than any Jedi padawan in history. “When the Council summons you, it is of great importance.”

“If I’m late for another scolding, what’s the difference?”

“Scolding? You’re not a little boy anymore.” Kenobi stated. “But when the Council summons you, you must show respect.” Anakin’s eyes narrowed as his mind raced. He wasn’t a little boy anymore, yet the Council still treated him as such. He wanted to be respected, to be equal to the other Jedi Knights that were just as powerful as he was. Who worked just as hard as he had.

“You’re right, I’m not a little boy anymore.” Skywalker growled, then turned. “And you’re no Qui-Gon Jinn!” Anakin stopped himself from continuing when he saw the look of hurt on his master’s face. His anger was gone, replaced by guilt and shame. First, his impulsive behavior got a squad of troopers killed, a friend injured, and now he just landed a low blow against the man who agreed to raise and train him when the rest of the Council simply wanted to cast him aside. His face fell, and he looked away.

“I’m… sorry.” Obi-Wan lowered his hood, a sad smile on his face.

“I know, I miss him too.” The older master did what he always did to comfort his padawan. He placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, and gave him a smile he always carried. “I promised him that I would train you and you have become a better Jedi than he hoped you would be. But our time as Master and Student must come to an end. It was time we became… Brothers.”

Anakin raised an eyebrow. Was Obi-Wan being reassigned? “Master?” Obi-Wan said nothing, he simply gestured toward the door leading to the Council Chamber. The padawan cautiously stepped through the door into a dark room. He walked to where he remembered the center of the room was. The door closed behind him, leaving him in pitch black.

The darkness was quickly extinguished by a circle of lightsabers surrounding the padawan. He looked around, a smile forming on his face. He turned to his former master, who shared the same proud smile.

“Kneel, Padawan Skywalker.” Yoda commanded. Anakin did so without hesitation. Yoda lowered his lightsaber over his right shoulder.

“By the Wisdom of the Council.”

He moved the blade to his left shoulder. “By the Will of the Force.”

The Master moved the saber back to the right. “Dub thee, I do… Jedi.” with a flick of his wrist, the braid of the padawan was removed.

“Knight of the Republic.” Anakin Skywalker stood proud as he was no longer a padawan, he was now a Jedi Knight.

General Anakin Skywalker marched into the hangar of the Venator, where his new unit awaited him. Standing in rows along the length of the hangar was the 501st battalion. All of the officers stood in their own group, saluting as their new general approached.

“Commander Appo.” The clone lowered his hand as the Jedi acknowledged him. The other captains did the same.

“General Skywalker, sir.” Skywalker looked at each of the clone officers under his command. The line of captains specifically. He spotted Luna immediately. She wasn’t hard to spot. With a nod to Appo, he walked up to the alicorn, who saluted as he approached.

“General.”

“Captain.” Skywalker immediately turned his gaze to the new cybernetic wings, guilt returning in an instant. Luna quickly noticed and attempted to regain his attention.

“Sir.” His eyes went back to her face. She points to the clone captain standing next to her. Anakin turns to inspect him. The clone was wearing the standard captain outfit, with some noticeable differences. He was marked in spotted blue rather than the full blue lines. He had a kama wrapped around his waist with blue outlines, which almost hid the dual DC-17 pistols in their holsters.

“This is Captain Rex of Torrent Company, sir.” Luna continued. “He’s going to be in charge of your personal company.”

The Jedi looked back at Luna, confused. She clarified. “Jedi are now being given personal company sized units to always go with them on assignments if deemed necessary, rather than sending whole battalions. Commander Appo will lead the 501st unless another Jedi is assigned. Torrent Company is yours to command and will follow you on any assignment deemed necessary by both you and High Command.”

This was done to avoid the same problem on Geonosis, where the clones had no idea which Jedi to follow orders from. This confusion lasted for over two Galactic Months as the Republic struggled to organize its brand new military.

This was a suggestion by Chancellor Palpatine, a suggestion the Military was quick to consider.

“Very well.” Anakin turned back to Rex, who still stood at attention. “Captain Rex, I’m Anakin Skywalker.”

“Glad to meet you, sir.” The clone said plainly, still at attention.

“Once I’m done here, Captain. I want your company to stay here, I want to meet them personally.”

Rex nodded. “Yes sir, it won’t be a problem.”

“Captain Luna, walk with me.” The alicorn did as ordered and followed the General down the lines of clones.

As they walked, Luna was explaining the situation of the 501st. Most of the companies had to have replacements after Muunilinst, but overall, they had few casualties. The alicorn would catch the new Knight looking at her wings at random intervals. She would have to deal with this after the inspection.

It was quick, and soon, the other companies were dismissed. Only Torrent Company remained. As she walked away, she whispered into the Jedi’s ear. “I’ll be in the mess when you’re done.” Before he could ask for clarification, the captain stepped out of the hangar.

Skywalker sighed before turning to Torrent Company to greet them.

Luna sat in the mess, just finishing the only good food she’ll have in the next few weeks. Her metal wings clicked as she adjusted them in order to sit comfortably at the table. A few clones from her company sat with her, talking and joking. They never stared. They knew better than to do that. Enough of their brothers had to receive cybernetics over the past few weeks, if they were lucky enough to survive the injury.

The alicorn looked over the shoulder of one of the troopers to see General Skywalker walking into the mess. She nodded to the clones at her table, who immediately got the message. They got up and walked past the General, saluting as they did. One clone pointed a thumb in her direction, helping the Jedi figure out where she was.

The Jedi Knight sat down at the table, and the awkward silence rose. Luna was not going to let it stay for long.

“I don’t blame you, sir.” That surprised the Knight. “It was a mistake, and it cost lives. That’s war, General. Not every decision is the right one. You just have to go with your gut and make sure you keep your men alive.”

Anakin Skywalker said nothing. He merely nodded. He made a promise to himself and to Luna. he would never put his troopers in a situation that either he or they could get out of alive. He would make sure as many troopers lived as he could, even if it meant losing a battle and escaping. The Jedi Knight would not make the same mistake as he did as a Padawan.

Author's Note

This was the first of what will be Extra Chapters. These chapters will be smaller to help fill in the gaps and to add some extra fluff to the story. Each Extra will follow a certain chapter, either at the same time or a day after.

Hope ya'll enjoyed it, as it was a bit fun to do the Knighting Scene from Clone Wars.
