Night of a New Moon

Midnight POV

*Knock*

*Knock*

"Dawn get the door." I groaned rolling over in my bed.

"Right right I got *yawn* it." He said getting out of his bed to get the door.

Laying my head back onto my pillow hoping to get more sleep. I hear the door to the room closing but my sleep is interrupted by a sharp pain in my flank. Yelping I jumped out of bed and landed on the floor.

"You ok sis?" Dawn asked trying not to laugh.

Looking around the room I find Moon standing by my bed with a toothy grin.

"Well now that your up ya have two hours till school so get down ta get food and get ready for the day." She told us walking out the door.

"D-did she just slap my flank?" I ask.

"Yea she did." Dawn laughed walking in to the bathroom.

After we got done with the shower and dressed we went down to the dinning room to get some food. We fond Scootaloo, Mist, Iron and Moon eating. After eating the four of us went to school with our armor packed.

"Sis we need to go talk to the sgt's before we get changed."

I nod to him as we head over to them.

"Ma'am we were told to talk to you?" I say to a mare in guard uniform.

"You two are the new cadets right?" We give her a nod. "Good I'm Sgt Chaser and this is Sgt Night."

"We got the files for the two of you yesterday so all you need to do is go get into uniform and find a team if your looking for one."

Done taking to Sgt Chaser we go to the locker room to get our armor on. Meeting up with Scootaloo and Moon I get ready for class. Leaving the locker room we find my brother waiting by the side.

"So whats the plan for today?" Dawn asked.

"Don't Know the sgt's will tell us after most of the class is out out the lockers." Moon said with a shrug.

"ALL RIGHT CADETS GET IN TO YOUR TEAMS AND GET IN LINE!" Sgt Night yelled.

Everypony gets into teams and line just like she told us.

"Alright ponies today we have some guards from the day and night coming. by the time lunch is over the princesses will be by and you all have a chance to at getting a work part time for them this year." Sgt Night says walking in front of us all.

The guards that the sgt's told us about came to the field and we all started to do team drill and other workouts. The time that lunch came around most of the guards split up and looked over the notes that they took. we all headed to the lunchroom. Getting our food we found a table and started going over the training that we would be getting on the weekends. Moon told us that we would be training in was that we never know.

Dawn POV

Sitting at lunch with my sister and our team was new to be but it felt nice to have others that we could talk to. Some of the new training that we would be getting sounded like it would be hard but at the same time make us better guards. The team made our way back to the field and waited for class to start back up.

"Yo Dawn you up for some sparing before class?" I looked over to Scootaloo.

I shrugged picking up my shield. "Sure but go easy on me you have more training then me."

We entered the dueling ring. I got into my stance holding my shield level with my chest and sword held to my side. Looking at Scootaloo she got into her stance legs wide knees bent, her swords in both hands one held out in frond the other in a revers grip held behind her back. We waited for Midnight or Moon to say go. When Midnight said go Scootaloo lunged at me.

I blocked her first strike with my shield. She rotated her body bring her other sword around form the side making me parry with mine. Bringing my shield back up I hit the end of her sword knocking her arm up. Taking the chance I twisted my blade in a arc but she stopped it with hers. We went back and forth for a bit till the class started.

"Ya did good Dawn she may have bin holdin' back some by not usin' her wings but ya didn't let her over power ya." Moon told me.

"To think that your going to be teaching us how to fight like that it still blows my mind." Midnight chuckled.

"Right sis."

We waited for the sgts to get back to class. When they entered the princesses were with them.

"Good afternoon my little ponies." Princess Celestia said.

"Now if the cadets that we name will come with us we would like to talk with you?" Princess Luna asked.

The Sgts stepped in front of us. "All right when I call your names go over to the side!" Sgt Chaser said.

She listed of names and ten cadet walked over to the side. Princess Celestia walked over and started to talk to them but Princess Luna walked over to us.

"If you four could come with me I would have some words with you?" We all bow and walk to the side with her.

"So how can we help ya Princess?" Moon asked.

"Well as my sister is telling the others we would like to give you a run at being guards. The upcoming summit is in two weeks so we give the chance for 3rd and 4th year cadets to be part of the guard for it."

"So what do ya say team ya?" Moon turned to us.

"Why not it is our job." Scootaloo said.

"Yea and we get to have our first mission." Midnight cheers.

"I think that it should go with out saying that we would."
