Author's Note

Hello everybody just a heads up about this chapter, well two things really.

The first being a reminder that this a a AU and will not follow the shows timeline on when certain events happen.

The second is as you have seen in the name of the title I'm going to say this now. It's not the mirror that your thinking about.

Fighting Tooth and Claw / Mirror

Luna POV

Taking my unit to the arena I couldn't help but feel worried about Moon having to fight in a duel over another's life. The think that concerned me the most was the way she was getting over protective of the pup that she is protecting. Tia led the group to the stands but I went with Moon to the arena floor.

"Moon are you sure that this is the only way?" I asked hoping that she would not fight this battle and let the griffin Queen, Tia and I handle this matter.

She looked to the arena doors before looking up to me. "Sorry mum, but if I let 'im get away with dis then he wins and the pup suffers under 'is claws."

"Please don't let it get out of hand." I puller into a hug resting my chin on the top of er head.

Leaving Moon I meet the others in the royal box. To my surprise the dragon Princess and Elder Scarlet are there talking to the Griffin Queen.

"Sister Moon is ready. But I will say this to you now if this gets out of hand I will put a stop to it no matter what anybeing has to say." I told Tia in a harsh whisper.

She gives me a nod before turning and informs the guards to let Black Beak and Moon in to the arena. The two walk in from each end meeting near the center and wait for us to start the match.

"Today we are hear to witness the duel for ownership of the slave of Black Beak. The rules are simple one fighter walks away in a winner takes all fight." Tia announces.

"If the fighters are ready this when the count down hits 0 you may start." The Griffin Queen says.

I hit the timer and pry that my baby girl will walk out of this in one peace.

3rd POV

as the timer starts both Black Beak and Moon Rune each take a fighting stance.

The griffin piles his sword and hold it in a fencing stance with a smug grin on his beak.

Moon Rune widens her stance and lowers her upper body forward hands touching the ground.

Both star at each other planning out how to fight the other. Body's tensing in perperation for the fight ahead of them.

Black Beak moves his talon over the blade of his sword causing if to spring to life with wisps of black smoke and dark blue glow.

Moon Rune takes a deep breath and exhales a small amount of smoke and let's her magic flow through out her body.

The two fighters dash towards each other prepared the kill. Black Beak swings in small arc aiming for Moons head but is stopped by her blocking it with the back of her hand shocking him and the audience. Looking at his opponent he sees that she blocked his strike without taking any damage at all. Using her opponents shock Moon pushes his sword up and brings her open palm up curling her fingers and hits him in the chest class first sending him staggering back.

"Scarlet is that wolf using dragons claw style?" Princess Ember asks keeping a eye on the fight.

"It is she learned it from me and grandfather years ago." Scarlet replies.

"It will be interesting to see her use it without being a dragon. That style if I remember right uses our fire breath at the same time and physical strength." The princess remarks.

Going for another strike Moon side steps an swing from the griffin and send a burst of purple fire out of her mouth at him forcing him to take flight to avoid the fire. Diving down Black Beak makes rapid attacks hoping to cut his opponent so his plan can start taking effect. Avoiding most of the attacks Moon losses her balance and Black Beak uses that to cut her on the side of her right arm.

"Ha, I got you now you cur!" Black Beak yells in triumph.

Moon jumps back getting some space between them then prepares to charge him only for her vision to flash black and the sound of screaming to be heard. Shacking her head she focuses only to find Black Beak nicking he with his sword once more. Her vision swims and she sees the faces of her friends and family screaming for help. Backing up she gets her again and the same thing happens again but worse than the previous time.

"What did ya do ya bloody twat!?" Moon demands trying to remain in control of her senses.

Black back chuckles at her. "That would be the affect of this sword. It was said that Nightmare Moons created this weapon and some others that if hit with them the creature well live there worse nightmare."

Moon tried to take a swing at him only for her to stop and grab her head. Feeling a sharp pain in her shoulder snaps her out of it and sees Black Beaks sword in it.

"Now why don't you enjoy your little nightmare and as you do I'll put you out of you misery once and for all." Black Beak let a sinister smirk from as he watched Moon fading into her nightmare.

Moon Runs Nightmare

Moon watched from the her place on the floor of the castle as most of the team was dead. Her mother was fighting a shadowy creature along with her aunt, Scootaloo and Midnigh. The creator mad a few quick motions and her aunt and mother fell to the floor motionless.

"Stop! Leave them alone ya bastard!" Moon yelled.

Midnight tried to stab it in the back only for it to turn around and grab her my the throat. Scootaloo tried to free Midnight only to be run through with its hand. The creature then snapped Midnights neck dropping both of then by Moon.

"No! No, no no no no! Please get up!" Moon yells crawling over to then. "Please Scoots you can't leave me! Midnight please weak up, please!" She pleads tears streaming down her face as she holds them close to her. "Please"

With all of her sorrow, all her rage, all her happiness, and all her love for them she screamed.

3rd POV

Black Beak watched as Moon Rune fell to her knees tears streaming down her face all with a smile as he thrusts his sword in to her heart.

"Nooo" Princess Luna yelled being held back by her sister.

Just as Princess Luna gets ready to teleport onto the field Moon let's out a blood curdling howl forcing all present to take a involuntary step back. Black shadows start to rise off of her body as she slowly starts getting to her paws. Black Beak readying his sword and the onlookers watch as she turns her head to him eyes closed. Slowly she turns to fully face him and opens her eyes and many spectators gasped at the sight of her eyes.

Gone were her normal eyes all that could be seen was a white glow of magic. The Princesses and Elder dragon know that this was the sign of alicorn rage but for her to have it could only make them wonder what had happened to her.

Moon lifted her hand and with a quiet motion Black Beaks sword and arm were removed from his body. Screaming in pain Black Beak fell to the ground and started to shuffle away from his opponent.

"Black Beak, ya hav' made da worse mistake of your life. Ya made me live my worse fear but oi fought it. Now ya are goin' ta die for all the shite that ya 'av done wrong in life." Moon said lifting him in to the air by the neck. "Good bye Black Beak." In one swift motion she ripped his head clean off his body. Moon looked down on the body a moment before falling back and passing out.

Luna POV

I am waiting in the hospital wing for the doctor to come back and tell us if Moon was ok. I was in shock I had just watched as my daughter was stabbed in heart but get up and in a alicorn rage.

"How Tia. How did this happen?" I whispered to her hoping she would have the answers.

She game he a hug and held me close. "I dont know Lulu."

Doctor Cross entered the room and I was on my hooves in a heartbeat ready for whatever news she has come to give use.

"Well Princess the only thing I could seem to find wrong with her was her magic was existed. I found no wounds other than all the old healed ones." Doctor Cross gave us a smile then continued. "If you wish to see her she should be waking up soon. We gave her a rejuvenation spell so her magic would recharge faster."

Scootaloo wasted no time bolting to her room with Midnight not far behind as the rest walked. Entering her room both had her smothered in a hog fighting for room on the bed.

"Thank the night your ok Moon." Scootaloo cooed.

"Don't you ever pull that shit again." Yelled Midnight.

"Sorry" Moon said meekly.

"You are in a lot of trouble young lady." I say.

She looked at me for a moment before look back down. "I'm sorry"

Moon POV

Mum gave me a lecture about what I did but ultimately was happy I was ok. After her and everypony left the doctor let me leave once back at the appointment and having a shower I was forced to lay in bed by Scoots and surprisingly Midnight as well.

It was kinda weird so I decided to ask what was happening. "Not ta complain but Mids why are ya clinging ta me?"

She tensed before answering. "Well I-I may h-have a crush on you and Scoots and you getting hurt like that made me realize that I just keep off to the side then nothing will ever change." She finished blushing and looked the other was tightening her grip on my arm.

"Oh..is that so?" Scoots said smirking.

"Um... what?" I say looking back and forth from Scoots and Midnight.

Scoots crawls part way over me and looks at Midnight. "So... you have a ting for the two of us?" Midnight nodded yes. "Moon is herding still a thing?" 'Yes' "The three of us could try but you must take the two of use on a date or two first." I just nod willing to at least give it a try.

Midnight jumped on top of use hugging and thanking us over and over.

Time Skip 3 Weeks after the Duel

Moon POV

I was walking down one of the less used parts of the castle so that I could wrap my head around the upcoming date that Mids is talking us to. Passing one of the rooms I spot light shining from under the door. Knowing that no pony is allowed in to this part of the castle I run in to the room and find nothing but a mirror glowing and the surface rippling like water. Closing my eyes I focus my senses and find that the mirror is giving off large amounts of magic.

Carefully I walk up to it and poke it with a claw and watch the surface move. The light from it starts to get brighter as I back up only for it to flash and send a wave of magic out flinging me in to the wall. Getting up I take a look at the mirror and see that it now looks normal. Getting back on my hooves I walk over and touch it and nothing happens so I decided to go and talk to Aunt Tia about it.

Speed walking my way back to the main parts of the castle I decided to make a pitstop at the training field to get Gleaming.

"Hay, halt. Civilians aren't allowed to be in this part of the castle!" Looking in the direction of the voice I see a pair of sol guards approaching me.

"So would you care to tell us what you are doing heading towards the barracks little filly?" One asks.

"Wait, look Status she has weapons on he." The other says gripping her spire.

The one now known as Status sees my knives now and starts to reposition her spire. "Under order you ar......"

She stops talking as I pull the collar of my jacket showing them my rank pin. Not wasting time on the I turn and head to the training field leaving the two stunned guards. Getting outside I look for the nearest guard.

"Hay guard could you point me to your captain." I firmly ask.

He turns around and looks at me. "The cap is over there training with some of the guards." He points in the direction of the practice ring.

Marching my way over I stop dead seeing a white furred stallion with two toned blue mane without a shirt sparing with two others. What stopped me was not him missing his shirt no it was the cutie mark on his shoulder. At first I thought that Gleaming was under a spell but I could not sense one.

"Shining Armor!" Somepony yelled snapping me back to reality. Turning back to the castle I see six stallions entering the field. I watch from my rooted spot my wings twitching in confusion of the situation. I spot the guard I talked to walking up to them and pointing me out to them so I turn around deciding finding Aunt Tia is a smart move to make. Not making it even three steps he calls out to me causing me to lockup.

"Hay!" I turn my head to the left and see them approaching my. "My guard told me that you were looking for me. How can I help you little lady?" He asked with a kind smile.

"Um... sorry but Oi... um.. Oi need ta go... sorry ta bother ya." I tell them turning back around at this point ready to run to the throne room.

"Now hold on filly we have some questions for you." Somepony said grabbing my wrist.out of panic my wing flares as I spin around knocking the pony's hand off me reflexively grabbing my knives handles and growl.

The group had taken a step or two back. The light blue pegasus rubbed his wrist to looking to happy with my reaction. Same goes for the orange stallion. The yellow and white one look shocked. The pink one looked confused. The purple unicorn and Shining Armor light there horns.i heard the door to the castle open behind me so I spin around and fly down the hall ignoring the yells from them to stop.

Getting near the throne room I briskly walk the rest of the way hopping I lost them. Walking up to the open door i look back and see the group rounding the corner. I run into the room and slam the large doors closed and lock them with magic.

"Um... sorry to bother you young lady but may I help you." Said a deep voice making me jump and spin to face it. Sitting on the throne I see a white alicorn with red mane tail and beard with magenta eyes curiously looking down at me.

Before I can say anything the doors behind me fling open throwing me forward. Moving fast I twist and land on my hooves and get ready for anything. The group charges in to the room the blue and yellow one fly up and forward. The guards start to move to surround me but the alicorn does nothing. When the blue one starts to charge me I throw one of my knives past him and in to the ceiling taking some of his mane off in the process.

The yellow one sees thos and get closer to me making me grab my other knife's handle. When he's close enough he stares at me.

"That's not nice of you to do." He said sternly. I just look and him and he starts to falter as I tap my claw on the handle of my knife letting him know I will draw if I have to.

"Hay partner!" The orange one yells throwing a rope at me but before he can pull it tight I pull my knife and cut it.

The purple and white ones both fire off what looks to be stun spells at me. I give them a fanged filled smirk as the runes on my knife come to life. With two quick swings both spells disappear in two shadowy whisps leaving them slack jawed. Shining Armor puts and shield up around me hopping to keep me in place. I just put my knife away and point up to my other one.

The room looks at it then back to me I give them a wave and disappear with a pop and reappear by the other knife. They watch as I blur out of sight and reappear sitting on the arm of the other throne looking at the amused alicorn.

"So ya asked if ya could help? Yes yes ya can sir" I say to him smiling like Aunt Tia when she needs to defuse the tension in one of her meetings.

"Hehe... I see how can this old stallion help you my dear?" He asks waving the guards and others off.

I place my hand on my chin and think of what to ask firs. "Well Oi think it best to ask who are ya. Oi only know of three and all are mares."

"Well my dear my name is Prince Solaris Sol, Co-ruler of Equestria and ruler of the sun." He told me giving me a small bow from his seat. "As for others like me there is my brother and niece."

I gulp "And um.. wh-what is your brother's full name?" I stutter out.

"His name is Prince Artemis Noctis, Co-ruler of Equestria and ruler of the moon." He smiles at me then holds out his hand to me "Now what might your name be dear?"

I take his hand as he helps me up making me realize that I'm shacking. Looking up I see at worried look on his face. "My full title is Princess Moon Rune,Daughter of the Moon and Princess of Shadows." My vision then fades as I pass out.
