Princesses and Canterlot

Luna POV

We started our trip back to the castle. Tia and I on one side of the charette Moon Rune one the other looking over the side. As I watch her so many question run through my mind but I bring my self to ask a good number of them.

"Your highnesses can I ask ya a question?" Moon asks still looking over the side.

"Feel free Moon. We will try and answer the best we can." Tia tells her

Moon sighs then looks at use "Now that ya know what I am and the amount of magic I hold what happens ta me?"

"To be honest with you. Its up to you how you live your life." Tia tells her

"Yes, from the letter young Twilight sent us you had plans to go to Canterlot but she stopped you so whatever you need to do you can." I tell her hoping she will tell up what she came to Equestia in the firs place.

"Ya the plan was ta get ta Canterlot then meet ya princess Luna. I was ta deliver a letter ta ya, so looks like I still get the chance." Moon tells us. We watch her dig into her bag pulling out a old leather bound journal. She flips some pages till stopping on a page with a letter appeared. "I was told ta tell ya don't read it in a public place. Ya and only those ya trust should be with ya." She handed me the letter.

Taking the letter I could feel some weight to it and slid as I tilted it. "Thank you Moon. I'll read it once we get to the castle."

The rest of the trip was taken in silence. When we got to the castle my 4 captains and Tia's 5 captains meet us as me landed. Me and my captains make our way to the lunar part of the castle with Moon Rune to find her a room.

"So how was the trip and who's the filly?" Night Glider asked

"That's a good question Night." Silver Satin says

"So Lu did you like foulnap her or something?" Lunar Light chuckled

"Really Light really?" Winter Shield scolded

Shaking my head I could see Moon trying not to laugh at my captions antics "No Light I did nothing of the sort. As to who she is. Her name is Moon Rune and she will be staying with use for a little. Oh and just a heads up you four she took down 3 heavily armored diamond dog with anti-magic shackles on." They all turn and stare at her.

"Keep starin' and I'll charge ya bits per minute." Moon tolled the without even look at them.

When we reach the guest rooms I tell Moon that a guard would be by in two hours for dinner. Once we dropped her off I meed with Tia in her study.

"So Lulu what do you think of young Moon?" Tia asked me

I sigh and pull out the letter she gave me "She seems to of had to grow up faster than somepony normally should have. I could see it in her eyes."

Tia rubs her chin thinking back to Twilight's castle "Yes I can say you are right. The question is why?"

"Can't say I know. What do you make of the letter she gave me?" I hand the envelope to her

She scans it but hands it back "Nothing dangerous as far as I can tell. Are you going to look at it know or after dinner?"

"After dinner. I would like to have you Cadance and Moon present when I read it." I tell her

We talked for the remainder of the time till dinner. I sent a guard to bring Moon to the dinning hall as me and Tia waited for her, the captions, Cadance, and Blueblood. By the time everypony got to the dinning hall the only two that are missing was Blueblood and Moon.

"Tia what do you think the chances that Blueblood and Moon ran into one another?" I ask

"Could have. But I have yet to hear yelling so that's a good sign." Tia said

"So aunties other then Blue who are we waiting for?" Cadance asked

"Well Cadance we ar....."

"THE BUCK DID YA CALL ME YA GIT!!!" We all turn to the door when we heard yelling

"Cadance that would be the pony and I think she met Blueblood." I sigh

"YOU HEARD ME YOU DIRTY BLOOD SUCKING MONGRAL!"

"THIS COMIN' FROM A POOF THAT CANT GET ANY!"

"Daaamn! I don't know who that is but I like her." We all look from the door over to Gleaming Shield "What?"

"YOU SHOULD KNOW YOUR PLACE MONGRAL!! I AM THE PRINCE OF EQUESTRIA!!"

"OI DON'T GIVE A FLYIN' BUCK IF YA BE THE KING! ALL OI SEE IS A CUNT FLAPPIN' HIS GOB LIKE A BITCH!! SO IF YA WHAT TO KEEP THOSE TINY THINGS YA CALL BALLS THEN SHUT THE BUCK UP!!!"

"MONGRAL YOU WILL KNOW YOUR PLACE!!"

"KEEP YAPPIN' YA P....."

*BASH*

Silence filled the room as everypony looked at the door waiting for sound of any type.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Everypony jumped at the high pitch scream. Looking at the door at starts to open and all present in the room tense. When it fully open Moon spit out a glob of blood onto the floor. They watch as she walks over to a cart and put some ice from the the ice bucket in to a napkin and put it on her lip before she took her seat.

I glanced at Moon then at the others at the table "Moon could you come over for a moment" She sighed as she got up and made her way over to Tia and me. "Ok let us see" When she moved the napkin we saw a good size bruise and a quickly closing cut on her lip.

"So how did he manage this?" Tia asked

"Poof used a magic charged fist." Moon told us

"Um... Excuse me but who is this?" Cadance asked

"Everypony this is Moon Rune." Tia said then looked at Moon "I just remembered we know nothing about you other then your name really."

"Oh oh why don't we go around the table and introduce are self's?" Cadance chirped

"I'm ok with it, I'll go last so I can answer questions." Moon said taking her seat

"Well since you know Celestia and me we will skip to the guards and our niece." I say

Cadance raised her hand "I'll go first I'm Princess Mia Amore Cadenza but please call me Cadance."

"I'm Captain of the Royal Guard Gleaming Shield"

"Sup I'm Spitfire Captain of the Wonderbolts"

"Hi I'm Captain Flash Sentry"

"Captain Iron Wall"

"I'm Captain Green Leef"

"Hello I'm Catpain of the Lunar Guard Lunar Light"

"Captain Night Glider of the Shadowbolts"

"Hi I'm Captain Winter Shield"

"Greetings I'm Captain Silver Satin"

"Well then. Hello Captains Princess my name is Moon Rune." She sighed

"Ok so who would like to ask the first question?" Tia asked

"I have a simple one for you. Age and species?" Winter asked

"16 and lunar pegasus and wolf hybrid." Moon said and all my captions eyes widened and jaws dropped.

Questions went on throughout dinner we learned much about Moon and the fact she was well traveled. When dinner was over Tia, Cadance, Moon and I went to Tia's study.

"Um aunties what are we doing?" Cadance asked

I walked over to Tia's desk and held it up for Cadance to see "This is a letter for me. Moon was told to bring it to bring it to me and I should read it with ponies I trust around."

"K now I'm confused why am I with ya? We only just me today." Moon voiced

"I trust you." I tell her with a small smile.

Lifting the letter out of the envelope a silver medallion slides from from inbetween the folded paper. I quickly grab it before it can fall to the ground and look at it. The sight of a crescent moon and a wolf howling makes me freeze in place.

"Luna?" Tia calls my name snapping me back to reality

"S-sorry memories of the past got to me Tia." I tell her clearing my throat before reading the letter

To my dear Luna

I know this will be hard for you but if I can't see you I hope that this letter will find it's way to you. I really don't know were to start but I think the beginning of the past 1016 years would be the best. The night that you fell to the nightmare while you sent me to find a way to stop the curse but I was to last you got trapped on the moon. I never got the chance to tell you that your spell worked a month after you got trapped I found out I was pregnant. I know that it would be unfair to bring our foul/pup in to the world that didn't have you in it. The following months I looked for a spell that could freeze me in time. I found it and used it two months before my due date but to a miscalculation or something I awoke six years before your return. I returned to the frozen north and had and beautiful foul/pup she looks more like a pony then wolf but the wild nature is still in her. I named her Moon Rune after the celestial body that you raise each night in the sky and the runes on her back fur.

Over the next three years I did what my clan would do and started to train her as a warrior. On her third birthday she found her magic. The day she unlocked it I decided to travel to see some old friends that could help her. Moon has your shadow magic and my wolf magic but still has a hard time with runes. I can teach her wolf magic but not the others. The first stop we made was in the Dragon Lands to see the elder dragon named Grandfather. His training was harsh but she learned a lot more then I could have taught her. He showed her how to focus her magic and by doing so we discovered with her unique magic she could lead and use dragon magic. I cant tell you the number of times grandfather or I had to drag Moon out of the grand dragon library. One day during training a corrupted dragon appeared and grandfather in his old age was hurt. We found out Moon could enter blood rage without getting hurt. After that fight Moon spent two days in a coma and I was afraid she had fallen to corruption's power but she woke up with no signs at all. Grandfather did some tests and found that she has a natural immunity to it and cant be affected.

After two year in the Dragon Lands we left for the Kitsune Isles but not before Moore gained the title of Dragon Slayer. On the way to the Isles we stopped at some of the old thestral towns only to find them abandoned. The time we spent in the towns I took the time to give her a better education with the stuff left in the old schools. We found books on all types of subjects history, language, math, science, music, art, and magic. From what I found in the book times have changed from the time you and me were gone. Moon seemed to use all her free time to study all she could. She found one of your old guards training books so she now knows old night guard fighting style. I found a journal by Starswirl that was written in nothing but old runes so I gave it to Moon.

On the way to the Isles I decided it was time for her to learn about her thestral heritage. We stayed in the griffin territory for a little cant really say if things have changed to much. Stopped in zibrica and minotaur lands. Traveling we came by most of the thestral territory's but could only find two covens. Fond out most moved closer to Canterlot to serve 'The Princess of the Night'. I'm happy to find out they are reintegrating back in to the world. Living in the Northern Mountain Coven has taught her some bad habits but I don't see a need to change it. Moon told me what what wanted to do for a living. Moon want's to join your night guard.

On her tenth birthday we left for the Isles. We got to the Kitsune Isles but I forgot without a invitation you get in trouble. We were taken to the Empress only to be set free five seconds after she tried to kill me with a bear hug. Turns out our old friend Ahri is the new empress so yea that's a thing. She has two kits ones a tod the same age as Moon his name is Orin the other is a vixen four years younger named Kitsuna. The kids are having fun in school and playing with each other. There physical teacher is a jackal from the desert her name is Anubis and she is a vary good and teaches the style from her lands and the fox's as well. She is having a blast with the mage teachers figurative and literal. Moon has learned how to use her shadow magic to its fullest potential and gained the title Shadow Mage. She has also read every scroll and book on magic, magic theory, spell theory, and spell structuring.

The pups scared the tartarus out of use. They got kitnapped by some bandits by the time we found them the camp was destroyed and Moon was fighting the leader. Luna you and me have seen war, death, and horror but that day nothing scared me more then thinking about losing our baby girl. My heart stopped for a moment that day when Moon took a sword to the chest by used her body to block Kitsuna. She knocked the leader out just after that. I don't know how but she survived it and I thanked all the gods yours and mine that day. We found out the bandits were slavers. They rewarded her and now she is part of the kitsune clan.

Her sixteenth birthday I told her we are going to Canterlot in a few weeks. I plan to to stop by one of the old covens to if its still standing and pickup some things. We took the old rout in the Everfree to the Night Tower Coven I don't think the ponies would like a predator walking in to towns. Stopping for the Night I made the choice to wright you this letter and a note to Moon just to be safe if something happens. Once we get to Canterlot I have a felling we are going to get detained by the guards till you or your sister come to see use and knowing Moon if the guard try to separate use she will put guards in the hospital. I hope to see you but if I don't get the chance just know I tried to do the best for our little girl.

Remember no mater how far apart we may be I will always be with you.

Celestia POV

The second Luna finished reading the letter outloud she dropped it and crossed the room with speed that would put Rainbow Dash to shame to reach a shell shocked Moon. I picked up the letter and took it to my desk and took out some old reports from before nightmare moon. Comparing the letter to the reports I matched the writing.

"Why would Freya not tell me about all this?" I whisper to myself

"Auntie Celestia?" Cadance asked with a look of worry

Looking to her "I'm sorry Cadance this is just a big shock for me and Luna. 1000 years ago Luna had a mate and her name was Freya. The day Luna fell to the nightmare she just vanished. Now Luna and I find out that she was still alive and had a pup. It's a lot to take in all at once."

"That's a lot for anypony. So now that we know what is in the letter and...." Cadance trails off

Thinking about what should be done I think of some options "Well as odd as it might be we have a new princess of Equestria..."

"NO!!" Moon yelled somehow getting free from Luna. Looking to Moon her fur is standing on edge and wings fidgeting.

"Please let me finish." Moon takes a deep breath and nods her head "Thank you. You are or will be a princess of equestria but we would have to see the doctors to make sure. After that you would have the option for use to tell the public or keep it hidden."

"I-I think if it comes ta that point I don't want the public ta know. My dream was ta be a night guard with my own skills not because of a title." Moon says relaxing a small bit.

"I can understand that. Luna will take you to see that night guard doctor in the castle infirmary to night we should get the results in the morning." I tell her

"Yes and then after we get the results I will take you so see about enrolling in the guard academy. Then shopping for your room and some new clothes. We Will make a day out of it." Luna cheers

"Can I come? Can I come?" Cadance asks bouncing in place

Seeing my sister and niece making plans brings a smile to my face. Looking to Moon she still seems to be lost with that the two are planing but I'm happy for my sister and hope that what was in the letter is true.
