Chapter 3: Death vs Darkness

--- On the last episode (Chapter) ---

There was a sudden burst of light and voices telling me to come to the light and there I saw a pony wearing a dark coat with hood and he /she is holding a sickle and he / she had no skin.. just bones..

"Steve it's time to go" said the reaper pony.

"What! im dead?" I shouted "no this.. can't be it" I said to the reaper pony.

--- Chapter 3 ---

"go to the light Steve..." the Reaper pony said.

"Nooo I haven't apologize to Rainbow Dash, she haven't forgive me please let me apologize to her first" I begged.

"GO TO THE LIGHT NOW!" the reaper pony shouted very loud more than anything I have ever heard.

"How dare you tell my creator on what to do!" said a pony with dark black coat and mane darker than darkness itself.

"Steve grab on to my hoof" the dark pony shouted.

As I grabbed on to his hoof the reaper pony grabbed on my other hoof and so the tug o war begin, for what seems like days have passed by the dark pony finally won and pulled me away from the light.

--- Somewhere in Ponyville ---

It was dark again but there was sound of ponies crying and lots of them.

"I didn't get to throw him a good bye party" a familiar pony sound cried out.

"Pinkie... Pie..?" I said whispering weakly.

"it's not your fault Pinkie.. he had to go" Twilight said to Pinkie.

"at least he didn't died cold and unfashionable" Rarity cried as I could hear AJ comforting Fluttershy who is crying the most loudest.

Suddenly a total silence.

"Today we come here to remember our dearest friend Bright Wind and to let our memory kept him alive in our heart but today we are all gathered here to also say farewell.." Princess Celestia said as Rainbow Dash interrupted.

"Nooooo.... This is all my fault, I'm so sorry Bright Wind I wasn't mad at you it's just that... this is all my fault... I'm the one who shouldn't have yelled at you" a familiar pony cried.

"Rainbow Dash let go of Bright Wind's coffin, you needed to let him go" Apple jack said to Rainbow Dash as she desperately tries to pull her away.

"Rainbow.. Dash.." I said weakly and so with the strength I had left, I busted the coffin wide open and fell down from it.

Everyone in the room gasped as I crawled toward Rainbow Dash and hugged her.

"I'm sorry I made you cry.. at least I came back right..." I said as I coughed blood from internal bleeding and it was dark all over again but this time I didn't wake up on the sight of the reaper pony but to the familiar hospital smell.

"He's.. Stabilizing.." said a pony.

"oh.. thank Celestia... he's alright everypony!" another pony said as I blacked out again.

"Beep... Beep... Beep.." the sound of the heart rate monitor woke me up and I could see Rainbow Dash sleeping on the chair beside me holding my hoof.

"Rainbow.. Dash?" I said weakly as I stroke her mane to woke him up.

"Bright Wind!" Rainbow Dash cried and hugged me.

"how long have I been out" I asked "4 day.." Rainbow Dash said to me.

"ugh.. I see.." I said to Rainbow Dash as I stare at the ceiling.

"everypony thought you were dead.." Rainbow Dash said while sniffing.

"I did died Rainbow Dash.." I said weakly and there was a total silence in the room.

"but I came back to apologize to you.." I said weakly.

"Don't do that again you hear me!" Rainbow Dash said crying even louder and hugging me even tighter than before.

"I'm so.. sorry.." I said weakly while Rainbow Dash stayed quiet and kept hugging me but she finally fell asleep on me so I gave her my blanket and I slept on the other side of the bed giving room for Rainbow Dash to sleep.

When I woke up Rainbow Dash was still sleeping so I left her sleeping on the bed.

I decided to visit doctor Red Cross office to say hi, he was pretty amazed with my body recovery and wishes to study me but I said to him maybe another time.

I went to the hospital kitchen and asked if I can borrow the kitchen and promised to pay for the ingredient after I got back to work, I cooked a breakfast for me and Rainbow Dash and went back to my room.

"Rainbow Dash wake up" I said gently.

"uhh... not now.. I'm still tired..." Rainbow Dash said half sleeping.

"sorry to wake you up on that sweet dream of your but breakfast is getting cold" I said half chuckling.

"I'm.. to tired to eat.. wake me up an hour later.. and stop apologiz..." Rainbow Dash said as she realizes that she was sleeping on my bed and woke up.

"here comes the Ponyville express Woo.. Woo.." I said imitating train sound while holding a spoon filled with soup.

"all aboard.. next station to appleloosa" I said to Rainbow Dash with the spoon of soup near his mouth.

"Bright Wind?" she said blushing.

"yup that's my name now open your mouth" I said laughing sitting beside her as I feed her.

"now get some rest I'll get back to my office to write you a letter to your office for a day off after you finish eating your breakfast that I made for you" I said as I stroke her mane.

"Bright Wind I needed to say something important to you" Rainbow Dash said to me while blushing.

"It's about the soup right.. Darn it I knew it, too much salt!" I said to myself angrily.

"Nooo.. It's not about the soup, its just that I had feelings for you.. It's just that.. Bright Wind... I lov.." Rainbow dash said interrupted by nurse Red heart.

"Bright Wind you have visitor" nurse Red Heart said to me as she let the visitors in.

"Hey Bright Wind how are you... umm.. are we visiting Rainbow Dash?" Twilight said as she saw me feeding Rainbow Dash who was in my bed.

"noo.. you guys came to visit us both" I said with a smile saving Rainbow Dash from embarrassment.

"uhh Rainbow Dash are you sick?" Apple Jack asked as she stared at Rainbow Dash.

"uhh.. umm.." Rainbow Dash said nervously.

"apparently Rainbow Dash here have an eye infection and a throat infection *wink* so I'm nursing her back to health personally" I said as I wink at Rainbow Dash to signal her.

"yeah.. *coughs* my eyes are all red because of the infection (actually from too much crying) *coughs* and my throat itches (obviously a fake cough)" Rainbow Dash said to her friend noticing my signal to fake the whole thing.

"well ya'll get better soon ya hear?" Apple Jack said to both of us while staring at us suspiciously.

"Bright Wind you weren't dead right? I mean you're still alive all along right? I mean if you don't want to talk about it.. I mean.. im sorry I asked you" Fluttershy asked as Fluttershy question brought the image of the reaper pony back to my head and I screamed in pain.

"arrghh.." I said in pain "Bright Wind! Nurse help!" Rainbow Dash shouted.

"no! its ok I'm fine just a little head ache" I said as I'm regaining my breath and Nurse Red Heart gave me some water.

"yes Fluttershy I did died.. my friend Dark Wind brought me back to life so I.. can.. apologize..." I said as I stare the floor.

"That's very nice of your friend Bright Wind" Princess Celestia said as she comes in with her Sister.

"Princess you're here" Twilight said as she and the rest of us bowed down.

"rise my little ponies" Princess Celestia said.

"Princess Luna me and my friend Dark Wind would like to apologize for not attending the Dinner at your castle a few days a go" I said to Princess Luna.

"it is fine I understand your situation, but would you and your friend Dark Wing attended the dinner tomorrow?" Princess Luna asked.

"yes we'll attend the dinner if you allow 6 of these lovely mare to attend the dinner with us" I said to Princess Luna hoping she would say yes.

"yes that would be great right sister?" Princess Luna said cheerfully.

"A dinner With the Princess at Canterlot" Rarity said cheerfully.

"this is the best day ever" Rarity said with a smile.

"ok.. That's enough all of you Doctor Bright Wind need to have his rest" nurse Red Heart said.

"you too young lady" nurse Red Heart said pointing at Rainbow Dash.

"actually she's a patient now" I said to nurse Red Heart.

"ohh.. I see..." nurse Red Heart said with a bit of a doubt as the visiting pony left.

I went to sit near Rainbow Dash and read her a Daring Do book.

"why are you being so nice to me" Rainbow Dash asked me.

"because I was a bad pony for yelling at you... and because I cared about you.." I said gently and stroked her mane which made her smile.

"beside you stayed beside me for quite sometime when you're suppose to be practicing for the wonderbolts" I said to her feeling guilty.

"I don't need to be a Wonderbolt if I had somepony like you.." Rainbow Dash said blushing.

"are you serious? Wonderbolt is like your dream Rainbow Dash you shouldn't think about me.. or is it that massage that you liked so much.." I said and laughed at the last part.

"I guess it's both of them" Rainbow Dash said blushing.

"well then since I'm here I'll massage your wing again" I said as I massaged her wing.

"wow you're wing is stiffer than before, how long since you last fly?" I asked.

"about 4 days a go ouch.." said Rainbow Dash.

"Rainbow Dash are you okay? no pony have ever stayed beside me for 4 days when I'm sick" I said with a small smile.

"well no pony have apologized to me over a simple matter for me until they died.. you died apologizing to me.. no pony have ever care about me that much before..." she said as she began to cry, I hugged her.

"thank you Bright Wind, I needed that" she said she as she cried on my shoulder.

After I let Rainbow Dash get some sleep I went back to work and checked on some of the patient, the hospital was less crowded than before so I decided to go to Twilight to borrow some book on Pony anatomy and Medicine.

Twilight was happy to lend me some of her book she even lend me a book on how to fly, I guess she noticed that I can't fly when I crashed on the roof. After an extreme reading for 3 hour at the office I finished the whole book on pony anatomy and I was getting tired, but since Rainbow Dash is sleeping on my bed and the ambulance is to far for me to walk back I decided to sleep in the office.

"Bright Wind are you alright?" Doctor Red Cross asked me.

"ohh.. Wha.. oh.. hi Red I'm just a little bit tired" I said to him.

"well you're suppose to be having a day off today, why are you at work and not in your room?" Red Cross asked.

"nah.. I'm fine.. I just need to make sure all the patient are all okay that's all" I said to him.

"you'll make a fine doctor Bright Wind.. so that's why I'm giving you the permanent job position as a Doctor here, your salary is now 200 bits per day" Red Cross said with a smile.

"are you serious?" I asked.

"yes Bright Wind I am, now get some rest I'll take care of your patients for you today" Red Cross said to me.

The next morning I sent a letter to Rainbow Dash weather office to give him an excuse for not attending his job for the last 5 day.

Today is Saturday and everypony seem to be taking it easy, I can see the group of filly calling them self the Cutie Mark Crusader running around doing some random stuff at the park there's also ponies having picnic, ponies having a date, ponies taking a stroll in the park and a pony reading.. oh that's just Twilight.

"a guide for a mare in understanding stallion, that's an interesting book Twilight" I said to her and she doesn't seem expecting me to be there.

"ahhh! oh... hi Bright Wind ahahaa.. what are you doing here? aren't you suppose to be in the hospital" Twilight said nervously.

"and aren't we suppose to be studying magic together" I said as I laughed.

"ohh.. right.. but how are you suppose to do magic without a horn" Twilight asked me.

"I use my hooves to do magic" I said to Twilight.

"then can you show me what you can do" Twilight said with curiosity on her face.

"I'm not sure if the Princess would allow me" I said nervously.

"we are studying magic aren't we? Just show me what level of magic you're on" Twilight said encouraging me.

"okay.. if you say so.." I said nervously as I  raised my right hoof and pointed to the sun and lowered it into night.

As I raised my left hoof to raise the moon Twilight's eye went wide and so is her mouth as she became speechless.

I placed everything back and Twilight fainted.

"Twilight are you alright? oh god she's having Cardiac arrest" I shouted.

"Somepony call 911! I mean get a doctor from the hospital to come here! tell them to bring a stretcher!" I shoutted as I reach for my defibrillator.

"hang in there Twilight" I shouted, as I began to do the CPR as quickly as I could.

"Clear!" I shouted as I administered the shock and her body moved but there is still no heart rate so I gave her another CPR and administered another shock and Twilight was gasping for air.

Her heart rate went back to normal.

"hey there Twilight.. are you okay there.." I said to her as she was shaking.

"it's okay.. everything is going to be alright.." I said as I stroke her mane and looked at her in the eye and sang him the "everthing's gonna be ok" song (the only song that I mostly singed for patients to calm them down).

"Bright Wind..." Twilight said weakly as I hugged her.

When the staff from the hospital came we carried her to the hospital on the stretcher and got her to her bed, she was fast asleep so I left the hospital to inform Spike about Twilight's condition and asked him to give me the book that Twilight was planning to read tonight.

"Rainbow Dash" I said as I called her.

"hi doc" Rainbow Dash said as she gave me a small chuckle.

"Rainbow, Twilight is next door" I said to her.

"what's the egg head doing here? is she lecturing you" Rainbow Dash asked me as she laughed.

"noo... Rainbow Dash.. she just clinically died for at least 4 minute" I said nervously, as Rainbow Dash got up from her bed and galloped to the room next door shouting Twilight's name.

"Rainbow! Twilight is getting some rest" I shouted as the blue cyan mare stared at me with tears in her eyes.

"b-but.. you said she died.." Rainbow Dash said with tears in her eyes.

"no Rainbow.. she only died for 4 minute but I brought her back to life and now she's still in shock but she's ok" I said as I hugged the crying mare to comfort her.

"Rainbow.. Bright Wind.." Twilight said weakly.

"wha.. happen.." Twilight asked weakly.

"I'll tell you later about what happen now go get some rest Twilight" I said as I gave her some book to read.

"that's nice of you.. but my hooves aren't strong enough to lift those book.. not even my magic are strong enough lift it right now.." she said weakly.

"Then I'll read it for you" I said as I started to read the book for her.

"Bright Wind you saved me from the reaper pony.. and nopony have ever sang a song for me that beautiful before... you are the only pony I know that concerns about me that much.. Bright Wind I.. Lov.." Twilight said weakly as Rainbow Dash interrupted.

"oh! hey umm.. Bright Wind.. Shouldn't we be having dinner with the Princess tonight?" she said quickly as if trying to interrupt Twilight on purpose.

"Oh my god you're right Dashie I'm going to tell everypony to get ready and umm Twilight can you come?" I said in panic.

"ahaha.. yeah I suppose I could attend the dinner" Twilight said weakly.

As the sun begins to set everypony was getting ready to go to the castle and I was wearing Ivan's spare uniform because it was the only clean clothes I had at the moment and Rarity was annoying me by telling me how unfashionable it is.

I Teleported everypony to the castle and I had to help Twilight who was still shaking to sit in his chair.

"Hi there my angel" Dark Wind suddenly snapped in as he moved me to kiss princess Luna's hoof and hugged her.

"hello to you to" Princess Luna giggled.

"you're dating Princess Luna?!" Rarity shouted in amazement which made Rainbow Dash and Twilight frowned.

"no I'm not, god damn it Dark Wind" I shouted at my self as I let go of the hug and all the 6 element mare was staring at me as if I'm a mentally crazy pony.

"where is this Dark Wind pony Bright Wind" Rainbow asked looking around.

"he's here" I said as I pointed on my head.

"The only way you can know if its me or Bright Wind is by eye color" Dark Wind suddenly snapped in.

"my eye color is red as you can see right now" Dark Wind pointed at the eye which is Red.

"and Bright Wind's eye color is black" Dark Wind said as he let me snapped back in.

"now I'm back" I said to everypony.

"We should throw Dark Wind a welcome party" Pinkie Pie screamed.

"yay a party for me" Dark Wind said as he snapped back in.

"am I invited to the party?" Princess Luna asked.

"yeah that beautiful mare over there should totally come" Dark Wind said Enthusiastically as he made me point at Luna while Luna blushed.

We ate and talked about all sort of stuff after the dinner we said our thanks to the princess and went back to Ponyville.

As I walk back to the hospital with the 2 mares I saw a poster on the wall.

"a Wonderbolt audition few weeks from now! Here at Ponyville!" I read out loudly.

"ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh" Rainbow Dash said panicking.

"you should go to the audition Rainbow Dash" I said to Rainbow Dash as I pointed at the poster.

"I haven't perfected my new trick yet I gotta go guys bye" Rainbow Dash said in panic.

"Bye! and Good luck!" I shouted as Rainbow Dash fly away.

"well then miss Twilight Sparkle I better get you back to your room" I said to Twilight.

"yes.. I should really.. get some rest.." Twilight said weakly.

"yes you should" I said giving a small smile.

--- Ponyville Hospital my Office ---

As I return to my office I checked Ponyville medical history, the birth rate, average sick pony yearly, type of most common disease but something that caught my eye is the Ponyville abnormal disease record.

"Derpy eye! what the hell?! how the hell this thing existed here?" I shouted at myself.

"slow wing growth rate on a young filly.. interesting.." I said to myself.

"hyperactive pony with party obsession.. ok I think I know who could that be..." I mumbled to myself.

"looks like I have some researching to do I think I'll go for the filly wing problem first" I thought to myself as I looked for the filly name.

"ahh there it is, name: Scootaloo   Kind: Pegasus   Sex: Female   Occupation: Student  General description: Grayish purple eye colour, Fuchsia mane colour, light brilliant gamboge coloured coat, no Cutie Mark and no family history.. that's odd.." I said as I read last year medical history.

"now then to get books about Pegasus wing and bird wings" I said to myself as I went to see spike to borrow some book and to return the book I borrowed.

After a couple of hour of extreme reading I finally found the problem "I knew it! it's a genetic problem! and I know how to handle this!" I said to myself with a smile "this is going to cost an amount of bits though but I could teach those apprentices in the process" I said to myself.

"what do you think Dark Wind?" I said in my thought.

"you should totally do it I've seen you do the practical stuff and you're doing great" Dark Wind said supporting me.

"okay then" I said with a smile.

I went to doctor Red Cross's office and told him about my idea, it was pretty tough to convince him on this dangerous surgery operation but he finally agreed.

I went down to town and looked around for the where about of this filly and I finally found her in the school.

"excuse me does anyone here know a filly named Scootaloo?" I asked as I looked around.

"I'm Scootaloo" Scootaloo answered.

"is something wrong, what did she do?" miss Cheerilee asked.

"uhh.. no no actually I came here to ask if I'm allowed to try to fix this little filly's wing" I said to both of them.

"you're gonna fix my wing!" Scootaloo said enthusiastically.

"yes I would love to Scootaloo but I'm going to need to ask his family whether I'm allowed to operate on her wings" I said as I noticed Scootaloo frowning.

"what's wrong?" I asked.

"I don't have a family" Scootaloo said frowning.

"she's an orphan" Cheerilee whispered to me.

"ohh.. umm.. I'm sorry Scootaloo, I didn't mean to.. you know.. but would you like to still have the operation? It's free.. no payment required" I said nervously.

"you mean I don't need to have a family to get the operation?" Scootaloo asked with a small smile.

"yes and I won't charge you not even a single bit" I said with a smile.

"ohh thank you.. thank you.. so much.. umm.. what's your name?" Scootaloo asked me.

"oh where's my manner, my name is doctor Bright Wind and it is a pleasure to meet you Scootaloo" I said with a smile.

"so when are you going to fix my wing?" Scootaloo asked me.

"as soon as you have some free time I'd like to examine your wings.." I said as Scootaloo interrupted "let's go now then" she said enthusiastically.

So we went back to the hospital and took her into my office with the apprentices examining my work.

as I begin to examine the wing I can see some tumors already that cause the problem with the wing growth.

"oh my.. this is serious" I mumbled to myself.

"so can you fix it" Scootaloo asked.

"well I'll do my best Scoot now may I take some Blood sample" I asked Scootaloo and some of the apprentices gasped in fear.

"is it going to hurt?" Scootaloo asked nervously.

"just a little I promise" I said to Scootaloo.

"I'm scared doc" Scootalo said nervously.

"It's okay.. you can hold my hoof and close your eyes, on the count of 5 I will take the blood sample.. 1... *injects syringe and takes blood sample* 2.. 3.... 4.... *removes syringe* 5...." I said as I take blood sample by tricking her.

"there did it hurt?" I asked.

"I didn't feel a thing doc" she said with a smile as the apprentices was impressed by my technique.

"so doc will I be able to fly high" Scootaloo asked.

"no you won't" I said as Scootaloo frowned.

"you'll fly higher than you think" I said making Scootaloo smiled.

"so Scoot wanna come and see me examine your blood sample? maybe you'll get a cutie mark as a doctor" I said with a smile.

"that's a great idea, I'll be a doctor just like you" Scootaloo said making my eyes all teary.

"why are you crying?" Scootaloo asked me as she look at me.

"there's a dust in my eye" I said as I laughed.

I spent most of the day lecturing Scootaloo about blood while some of the apprentices kept vomiting on the sight of blood as I took my own blood sample to compare it with Scootaloo's blood.

"Scootaloo I've found the solution but I can't operate your wing today" I said to Scootaloo as I look at the result.

"why can't you?" Scootaloo asked.

"because..." I said with a long pause.

"we're going to have a picnic today" I said with a smile trying to change the subject.

"why are we having a picnic" Scootaloo asked me as I got even more nervous.

"to tell you the truth I've been feeling kinda lonely and I don't have much friend here so it's kinda lonely here" I said to Scootaloo trying to reason her.

"ohh.. so you're lonely.. can I be your friend then doctor Bright Wind?" Scootaloo asked.

"no.." I said to Scootaloo making her frown.

"we can be best friend instead" I said with a smile and scootaloo smiled with me.

We went to the hospital kitchen and made some sandwich and pie for the picnic "did you get a cutie mark?" I asked with a laugh as she checks her flank.

"aww I didn't" Scootaloo said frowning.

"don't give up yet Scoot you'll get one someday" I said as I cheer her up.

--- Ponyville Park ---

"lets find a spot for our picnic" I said to Scootaloo as we walk towards the park.

"This seems like a good spot for the picnic Scoot" I said to Scootaloo as I pointed at a small hill with a nice view.

I looked around and ponies were running around having a picnic and flying kites.

So we set up the picnic at a nice warm spot and we ate some sandwich as we looked at the sky.

"So Scoot did you know that Celestia means the sky in Latin" I said as I looked at the sky.

"really? how about Princess Luna?" she asked with curiosity.

"it means the moon in Latin" I said answering her question.

"Show me what your wings can do Scoot" I said smiling but Scootaloo frowned.

"what's wrong Scoot" I asked worried "I can't fly high.." she said with tears on her eyes

I stood up and sang

As I finish the song I put Scootaloo down.

"Thanks dad!" Scootaloo said to me while hugging me as she realized that I'm not her dad and started to cry.

"I'm sorry doctor Bright Wind I didn't mea..." she said while crying as I interrupted her with a hug and as I look around I saw everypony at the park was staring at us with tears in their eyes.

"umm.. Scoot.. did I singed that song out loudly?" I whispered as she began to look around.

"God this is embarrassing" I thought to myself.

"I guess it was a little bit to loud" she said as she began to laugh at me.

"Doctor Bright wind you're so awesome! we love you doc!" shouted a stallion who is having a picnic with his family.

"let's get out of here before I do something more embarrassing" I said to Scootaloo while laughing.

--- Ponyville School ---

I took her back to miss Cheerilee since it was getting late and I said my good bye to Scootaloo.

"doctor Bright Wind are you interested in adopting Scootaloo?" Cheerilee asked me.

"actually yes I am... but I really don't have a place to live yet... I mean a proper place to live if you know what I mean right miss Cheerilee?" I said nervously.

"well then as soon as you have one you can inform me so I can do the paper work for you" Cheerilee said smiling.

So I went back to the hospital checking on the patients health but ended up thinking about Scootaloo.

"you know.. you'd make a fine dad Steve" Dark Wind said inside my mind.

"thanks Dark, but I really don't know how to do it, you know taking care kids" I said inside my mind.
