Flash Sentry The Spectacular Spider-Man
ISSUE #5 CHAPTER 5:What is this?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter a long night of chasing criminals and watching a few adventure movies, Flash made it back home to his apartment. He was exhausted, quite exhausted. He felt like he was all over the town tonight, but even so he felt that not much really came out of it.
With the exception of stopping a bunch of robbers and getting to relax with his girlfriend, there was still The Enforcers, they were still on the loose and Flash believed it was all his fault. He felt that there was a better way to stop them in their tracks but he didn't know how.
He walked into his room, placing his camera and phone down on his desk. Walking over to his nightstand he placed his key on the top of it. Going to his closet, he grabbed an undershirt and took off his sweatshirt. Putting on the undershirt, he pulled his pants off, revealing striped boxer shorts.
Flash walked over to his bed, it wasn't very well made, as he'd left it like that when he left for Manhattan just a week ago. He crawled onto his bed and draped the covers over him. "I just hope things wont get any worse tommorow!" Closing his eyes he began drifting off
But what he didn't know was, he was being watched. But he wasn't being watched by someone, he was being watched by something!
Just inside his closet was his Spider-Man suit, on top of the suit laid the black ooze, all over his suit. It looked to be moving, crawling slowly off the red and blue costume and towards the door of the closet. Though it didn't have any eyes, it peered out the closet door.
It saw Flash's arm, dangling off the edge of his bed. It seemed to be intrigued , intrigued by the flesh covered limb. It continues to crawl on the ground, emerging out of the closet door and towards Flash's arm. It was getting closer, and closer, and closer!
Until.....
It made contact!
The ooze stretched out and upwards and touched the finger tips of Flash's finger, and soon beginning to cover his whole hand.
Flash, still asleep began squirming around, his teeth clenching, he was having a nightmare...
Flash found himself fighting a black, shadowy figure.
He was in Canterlot City but it wasn't his Canterlot City. The place was empty, looked like a ghost town. The sky was looking like the Sun had just set but in the distance, stood the moon, there was no glow from it, instead it looked more like a still meteor in the sky, all the craters clearly being defined on it. The streets had cracks in them some of the buildings looked like they were deteriorating, it looked like the end of the world had just taken place!
Flash swung his fist through the shadowy figure, his fists funneling right through it, not affecting it at all, it was like it was invincible, maybe not human.
Flash quickly brought his fist back, letting out a grunt he jumped in the air and attempted to drive a spinning tornado kick through the side of his head. The whole kick did in fact go through the side of his head, it was almost as if Flash was kicking a gas. He didn't feel any impact or collision for that matter.
Flash landed on both his feet, but that would be the last time he'd ever stand!
Without any sudden movement or warning, the Shadowy figure grabbed Flash Sentry! Extending his arm and growing his hand out, the fingers wrapping around him. That was the start of it's metamorphosis...
The shadowy figure grew bigger and bigger, becoming more like a monster! It's head grew pupiless, white, pointy eyes which ran up it's head, it then.. grew a mouth! It looked like it was a toothless black void into the abyss.
The shadow monster raised it's arm up, holding Flash just above it's mouth. Flash looked in horror, his eyes widened, his mouth hanging open, he could feel himself shiver in fear.
And then....
Drop..
The monster let go of Flash, dropping him as he plummeted towards his the black void of nothingness. Flash screamed, screamed in peril! It was scary, it was terrifying, it was, it was....
"A dream?"
Flash was hanging upside down on a web in the middle of Canterlot City. But something was different, something looked different! Flash looked at himself through the reflection of a building, but it wasn't him, it was.... Spider-Man?
Or was it?
Flash leapt onto the wall, he looked at a reflection of a figure in all black, with big white, pupiless eyes that resembled those of Spider-Man's lenses. On his torso was a large, white spider logo which was wide and ran down his whole torso, "What is this?"
It didn't feel like cloth at all, in fact it didn't feel like anything at all, not even flesh! There was wind blowing but Flash couldn't even feel the slightest breeze.
Flash chuckled gesturing with his hands, peering at himself, "This... feels good...."
Spider-Man leapt off the wall and dived towards the road, letting out a scream of excitement, "WOOOO!"
He glanced up onto a crane that was up real high, merely outstretching his arm, a strand of black webbing came out of the top of his hand. "Wow? This is new!" The webbing soared through the sky and stuck onto the crane.
Spider-Man snagged the almost unseen webline and swung at almost outrageous speeds. Arcing the webline, he let go of it and it was like he soared through the air, high in the sky! Flying right past multiple buildings!
"WOAH!" Flash exclaimed, "I've never been able to do this before!"
He began diving back down, not even being phased by the wind that was blowing into his body. He fired another webline, flicking his hand down this time, the black webbing came out of his top-hand like before. The webline glided down towards another building wall. He snagged it again, swinging downwards towards the building.
Letting go of the webline, he clung onto the building, panting at the amazement that he'd just been through, "I've never been the air that high before! Not to mention going past all those buildings!"
It almost didn't even dawn on Flash that somehow he woke up in the middle of the street and in a new suit, he was completely distracted by how tremendous the suit was, "It's like this suit has.. made my 'spiderness' even better!" shaking his head in disbelief, he chuckled a little, "This is something else!"
Spider-Man climbed through the window to his bedroom, closing it. He'd finally come back home after that whole adventure through the city in the new 'black suit' as he dubbed it.
He pulled on what he assumed to be the sleeve of the suit, it was very firm and strong, not being stretched at all by Flash's spider strength, "Hmm? So how does this come off--" He was stopped, suddenly the suit looked as though it was forming into something, with his quote on quote mask completely retracting off his face, surrounded by a small blue aura, but that wasn't the case, instead the suit became, clothing, a black hoodie, black jeans and black sneakers.
Flash's eyes widened, "Did.. that just happen?" He ran to his washroom and checked the mirror. His eyes were not deceiving him, he was wearing clothing. He felt the sleeve of the hoodie, it felt too real, it kind of weirded Flash out, "Okay... that's gonna take some getting used to."
He stroked his chin, "Spider-Man." And in an instance, that same blue aura came around him and the suit covered his body again. He looked into the suit, it seemed that the eyes were moving according to Flash's facial expression behind the mask.
He tried again, "Flash Sentry?" than, it happed again, going through the same retracting process with the blue aura surrounding him and in no time he was wearing the same clothing moments ago. "HAH! I don't believe it, I don't even need to spend 15 minutes changing into it."
But then, it finally dawned on Flash, "Wait?! WHERE DID THIS THING COME FROM?!" Flash was so distracted by the suits awesome powers he didn't even know where it came from. Than his eyes widened, "Wait a minute!" He ran out of his bathroom and back into his bedroom.
Opening his closet in a hurry he grabbed his actual Spider-Man costume, the one he knew for a fact was stained with black ooze. He shook it once and peered at the suit, his eyes widened even more, the ooze was gone. "It's gone? Wait, no..." He backed up for a minute, throwing his Spider-Man costume back into the closet, "Is that ooze responsible for all of this?!"
Flash looked at his arm, "No it has to be a coincidence!" He shook his head, trying to deny the fact that there was sludge all over his body, "Oh who am I kidding, THIS IS THE OOZE!" He felt a shiver go down his spine, he had some unknown ooze all over him.
But then, he stopped, he thought about what had just happen moments before outside the city, he couldn't deny it, the ooze made him more powerful, "But... is it really that bad of a thing?" His tone eerily changed quickly, going from nervously scared to curiously nonchalant.
"Maybe... it's for the best? I'm not seeing anything wrong with it not to mention it hasn't done anything.... I'm faster, stronger, and better than ever! And I can hardly tell it's there it....I guess there's no harm in keeping it.."
He chuckled, "Pajama's!" Flash's clothing glowed a blue aura for a moment before the suit did it's thing. Changing the hoodie, pants and shoes into a black light weight cotton collared shirt and black flannel pants. Flash headed towards his bed, crawling onto it and draping the blanket over him.
"Yup! Life is gonna be pretty interesting from now on!" He closed his eyes and began to fall asleep again, now feeling more relaxed, even forgetting about his worries earlier tonight.
