Flash Sentry The Spectacular Spider-Man
ISSUE #5 CHAPTER 9:Retaliation/The Big Man
Previous ChapterNext ChapterBut then, when everything seemed hopeless for Spider-Man, his suit answered back. 'The Suit' shot out a tentacle and in only a matter of seconds the tentacle covered the gauntlet. Shocker's eyes widened. He moved his head up and looked directly at Spider-Man.
Spider-Man's face cocked up slowly. It'd now occur to him that he looked more sinister and grim at night. His eyes narrowed and then the unthinkable happened.
Spider-Man grew.... a mouth?! Shocker's eyes widened in shock and fear as the mouth grinned widely.
Then suddenly, Spider-Man let out an ear piercing screech, not sounding anything like himself. The shriek stunned Shocker, scaring him beyond belief.
Spider-Man quickly acted, punching Shocker square in the face, sending him flying back. Spider-Man's mouth suddenly retracted, but Spider-Man showed no signs of slowing down.
He lunged towards Shocker, running a few steps before jumping and diving towards him. He landed on top of Shocker and he began to relentlessly punch Shocker in his cheek, not taking any pauses or breaks to even so far as breath. Spider-Man then picked up Shocker, looking over at a light pole and throwing him towards it.
At that moment, the police had arrived on scene. They all hid behind a solid block fence, with Officer Hothoof peeking behind the corner in shock. He was in disbelief, was everything The Daily Bugle spewing out about Spider-Man true?
Another Swat Officer nudged Officer Hothoof's shoulder, "Officer Hothoof." Hothoof glanced behind his shoulder and looked at the Swat Officer, "What's going on over there? Is everything alright?"
Officer Hothoof's, though unsure he nodded, "Yeah, I think Spider-Man's got this thing under control." Meanwhile in his head, he had a very different tune, "Or so help me god he's got this under control!"
Spider-Man grabbed his camera out of his suit. Snapping a picture of Shocker as he was motionless against the street light pole. Spider-Man then rushed towards Shocker. Throwing his camera up onto another light pole and webbing it up on an angle so it would snap the pictures of what Spider-Man was about to do to Shocker.
Shocker cocked his head up slowly. He regained his vision for a moment, everything coming back into focus. But just as he was trying to get back his composure, Spider-Man punched him square in the face again.
The Camera Flashed.
Spider-Man picked Shocker up by his foot. Twirling him into the pole, colliding back first each time. Spider-Man threw Shocker up in the air. He too jumped in the air, going farther up than Shocker. Clasping his fists together, he swung at Shocker's stomach as hard as he could.
This caused Shocker to fall back onto the ground. He fell really hard, causing the ground around him to crack and create a small crater on where he lied.
The Camera Flashed.
Officer Hothoof watched in horror, it was unbelievable. He didn't know what to do, he didn't even know whether or not Spider-Man was even acting consciously.
Spider-Man landed on the ground, right next to Shocker. He looked at the laying body on the ground, a sad motionless man wearing a complex, technologically advanced suit. Or at least in Spider-Man's eyes.
He picked up the body, grabbing him by the neck and holding him up with his left hand.
The Camera Flashed.
Spider-Man grabbed Shocker's arm with the other hand and he pointed the gauntlet right to his face.
Officer Hothoof's eyes widened, "He wouldn't!" He swore under his breath.
Spider-Man, somehow and someway turned the gauntlet on. The gauntlet began charging up with sparks of blueish green shockwave energy coming out of the gauntlet. Spider-Man's eyes narrowed.
Then suddenly, Spider-Man gasped. His eyes widening, acting as if he'd just woke up from bed, "What- Wait where am I? How..." He then glanced at the body he was holding, it was Shocker. Spider-Man's eye arched, "Shocker?! Wait what?! Why is he unconci--"
"SPIDER-MAN HANDS IN THE AIR!" Spider-Man glanced away from Shocker and looked forward. He saw Officer Hothoof pointing a gun at him. Behind Officer Hothoof was a bunch of S.W.A.T Officers.
"Drop the body!" Officer Hothoof ordered.
Spider-Man's eyes widened, now he was being targeted by the police. Then his eyes narrowed, "I don't believe it?! The Police are pointing their guns at me!?" Spider-Man grit his teeth under his mask, he dropped Shocker as the gauntlet stopped charging up.
The Camera Flashed. Spider-Man glanced over his shoulder and then looked up. Right where his Camera still stood. He grabbed it quickly with a webline. Then leaping up and firing another webline, swinging away from the scene.
An S.W.A.T Officer was about to shoot, only to be stopped by Officer Hothoof. "Hold your fire!" The Officer's eyes widened, he put down his machine gun and watched as Spider-Man swung away.
"Should we do something about him?" The S.W.A.T Officer asked.
Hothoof shook his head, "I'm not sure." He stroked his chin, "Wait!? There were calls at the Bell Tower earlier, go check it out, I have a feeling Spider-Man might have something to do with it."
The officer nodded, "We'll have a team check it out!"
Spider-Man swung towards the bell tower. Right where the whole fight started, he had one thing on his mind at the moment, Big Man. Knowing that Shocker is the police's problem now, he only had one lead. That is if he was still alive.
Spider-Man went through the opening he had taken. Than going down the hole he had fell through. There lied Ricochet, the betrayed member of the Enforcers. Though it looked unsure, Spider-Man had some feeling he was alive. Now he was going to test that theory.
He walked over to the body, it seemed to have been moving a little. Getting closer it was clear Ricochet was panting very heavily and slowly.
Ricochet slowly glanced at Spider-Man and chuckled, "So what? You come here to finish the job?" His voice was weary, the blast severely weakened him.
Spider-Man held Ricochet up by the back of his neck, "I want answers, Who's the Big Man!" He got straight to business, finally wanting to get more light shed on the otherwise mysterious figure to Spider-Man's point of view.
Ricochet coughed, "Well shit.... guess I'm not going to have to rely on him anymore." Spider-Man's fist clenched, his eyes narrowing. Ricochet continued, deciding to finally let Spider-Man know who the Big Man in.
"The Big Man." He coughed, "Is a powerful crime boss in Canterlot City, he's been at this business for years.... One night, the guy had an insane idea. Creating super mercenaries and finally putting the city at his feet."
Spider-Man's glanced away and grit his teeth, being very familiar with a few of them. Especially one, "Electro!" He glanced back at Ricochet, "Then what happened?" He asked in a stern tone.
"Than.... A Spider came along. He started to compromise Big Man's ambitious plots. So, in retaliation he started making more and more of these super powered mercenaries to take you out and get you out of the picture."
Spider-Man let all those words sink in for a moment, "Man this Big Man Guy really doesn't like me."
"Okay final question." Said Spider-Man, "Where can I find him?"
"Sorry Spider." Said Ricochet, "But I ain't no snitch, and besides I gave you the info you came here for." He began to mock Spider-Man with a chuckle.
Spider-Man curled his lip under his mask, "Look Pal, we both know that your not making it to a hospital anytime, at least not alive! So I'm gonna ask you again, or else!"
Ricochet rolled his eyes under his mask, "Or else what? You gonna Square up on a dead man walking?"
Spider-Man couldn't believe this guy, he's met ignorant people but Ricochet might be the most ignorant, "Alright... you asked for this." He raised his fist in the air hearing it crackle. He slowly and slowly moved it back, wanting to make this punch count.
But then suddenly, he hear police sirens squealing from the outside. Spider-Man's eyes narrowed, he knew the police were gonna intervene as soon as they got in so he just dropped Ricochet, "You know what, you're not worth my time." He started for the hole that Shocker had created. Firing a webline and swinging away.
A few police cruisers arrived on the scene. As an officer got out, he saw Spider-Man swinging away from the scene.
"Hey look it's Spider-Man." He pointed out the blur swinging off, catching the attentions of the other officers. They watched, thinking he'd probably gotten the job done for them. "Well at least our job has gotten easier for the night."
They all entered the bell tower. They went up the stairs for a while, not finding anything of interest. But when they reached the floor that Spider-Man just exited, they all gasped.
They saw Ricochet's body lay motionless on the ground. They quickly approached it, Ricochet's condition had only worsen from the point that Spider-Man had left and until the police had found him.
An Officer knelt down and spoke to Ricochet with urgency, "What happened?"
Ricochet's head slowly turned to the officer. He grabbed the offices by the chest weakly, "I-It was....Spider-Man..." He was panting more heavily, "He.... did th.." Than he trailed off, his grip weakened and let go, his head rattled back onto the ground.
The officer wanted to feel Ricochet's heartbeat, but he couldn't. He didn't know how to remove the armor off of him. The officer's lip curled in disgust. How could Spider-Man do something like this, that is if he did it. A bunch of officers soon came up to the officer near Ricochet.
"What should we do?"
The officer glanced over his shoulder, "Issue a press statement."
