Chapters Author's Note
So, this is a story I've been thinking about doing for a while now, I'm not why but it kinda popped into my head in the fashion that FSTSS did, "Hey why not do a Flash Sentry Basketball fic? That'd be fun "
I'm not sure why and I'm not sure how Flash Sentry became the main character, (Maybe because I might kinda like him as a character for some reason but I'm not too sold on that) but I'm just gonna roll with it.
So, Basketball fics….. I have not seen that much on this website 🤣. But than again I haven't been on the site for that long so maybe I have to keep digging but I have seen no basketball fics on this site whatsoever and it kinda surprised me a little.
So with that I kinda decided to jump for an opportunity and maybe write this fic, I'm not sure how it will do but I'm gonna let time figure that one out for me.
(Disclamer: This is no way related to the FSTSS Universe and is just a fun little story by me, I have no idea how frequently I'll update it but hopefully on a weekly basis!)
A New Chapter

Entry #146
"Night.....
"That's what it was, night! It's not a night I would exactly dub as anything significant but it is still just a night. The worst night I've ever had!
And trust me, I've had plenty of those but this, I'm not even sure if calling it the worst night of my life could tell you how much I hate this night!
I know I might sound like an ungrateful little shit but what's there not to be mad about right now, I've left San Francisco, my own hometown for some city I've never heard of in my life, Canterlot.
Ugh! The name alone makes it sound like a dull area, but my dad goes on and on about how great this place is, I know the guy is great and all but I'm not sure his sense on cities are exactly sharp......"
Flash Sentry, the fourteen year old who was rambling in his journal had finally ran out of words. Even the usual, pencil tap on the chin couldn't help him think of any new words, he was completely fresh out.
He let out a sigh, closing the leather covered journal and opening the glove box of his dad's car, a 2001 used Chevy Suburban. Closing the glovebox, he leaned back into the leather passenger seat and grabbed his phone out of his pocket.
His father, a lean muscular man with the same pale amber skin as Flash and curly blue hair, Stormbringer found himself chuckling, "Let me guess, you ran out of words again?"
"Yup!" said Flash, "It's the twelfth time today!"
"Well, maybe once we get to Canterlot City, you're whole writer instinct will comeback again and you'll be off to the races, heh."
Flash rolled his eyes, "Daad.." He moaned in annoyance.
"What?" Stormbringer chuckled, shrugging and trying to keep his attention on the highway, "I'm just trying to make this whole thing enjoyable for you, I mean it's no secret that your not as.... enthusiastic about moving than I am."
Flash sat upright, "Hey come on..." he said, "I know what you're trying to do is right but... I don't know man I'm not sure if... I'll ever be able to get used to any of this."
"Why's that?" Stormbringer asked in a nonchalant tone.
Flash shrugged, "Well I'm not sure I was ready to leave San Francisco and well.. all my friends there, especially just as a sudden move in the summer."
There was a moment of silence, Stormbringer took in everything his son said, he let out a sigh, "I know you really liked San Francisco and I took you into account of this move. But I just want you to understand the neighbourhood we lived in wasn't exactly safe for us and the ones your friends lived in were just way to expensive for me to pay for."
That was their biggest problem, money the item that in Flash's eyes, solidified your status in everything. I mean what can't money do, it buys you a good house, good food and it was the one item that made people look forward to a good future. But of course, Flash and his Father lacked that. For some reason, it seemed like all the odds were always stacked against Flash and his Father Stormbringer. Flash could remember being left alone at home while his Dad worked late shifts to bring food to the table and be able to feed him. He sometimes watched the man decline eating just for the sake of his son's wellbeing and it sometimes even broke his heart, like he was the biggest factor of his dad's struggles, but somehow it seemed he was wrong as his dad treated him like he was his biggest accomplishment.
"Yeah, yeah I get the picture." Flash glanced down, "But why Canterlot of all places? There are other cities that are probably just as safer, like Canada or something, but why a city in Equestria State?"
"Well... The city seemed and looked really safe, I heard their schools there are tremendous and it's quite diverse there!" He patted his son's shoulder, "Flash, this is an opportunity to meet new people and look to a better future, I know it'll take a while but I know you'll be just as enthusiastic about the city as I am, just give the place a chance."
Flash looked down for a moment, taking a deep breath and sighing out of his nostrils, "Okay", he said, "I'll give Canterlot City a chance." He found a tiny smirk forming on his mouth.
His dad smiled, "Ahhh! There it is! There's that smile I've been waiting for!" He patted him on the back, making Flash smirk even more before it became a full grin. "I'm telling you, you'll love it!" he glanced back at the windshield, directing his attention back to the road.
Flash looked out the window, gazing into the starry night, a detail he left out in his journal entry, obviously for the reason that he wasn't so onboard about the whole 'moving away' idea.
It was certainly a busy night, especially for people driving on the highway, en route to towards Canterlot City, the capital of the state of Equestria. Cars were moving ever so slowly on the asphalt road, making very little progress to their destinations. It made Flash wonder how his dad kept his cool driving, if it were him he'd probably bust out in anger and yell at the driver ahead of him.
The cars began to move again, this time at a more faster yet consistent rate, covering more ground than ever.
"Well would you look at that, it looks like were almost there!"
Flash's concentration on the night sky broke, he glanced at his dad for a second, then turning his direction towards the windshield, his eyes widened, they really were almost there.
A blue road sign stood just to the side of the highway, it read "Canterlot City, Population 746,892"
"Wow were really here!?" Flash thought in astonishment, "That one day felt like one hour!" But then it all sunk into Flash's head, they were really there, this was it, there new life in Canterlot, there next chapter, Flash gulped a lump in his throat formed, there really was no turning back....
The black 2001 Suburban had traveled far, very far, almost 1.8 days worth of traveling and gas consumption, to finally arrive in Canterlot City.
The city itself looked alive, something Flash had doubted when he first heard about the city. The skyscrapers were beautiful, there were billboards, responsible for lighting up a lot of the city, advertising the newest products. Even a lot of people out and about in the city.
Flash sat there, wide eyed and watching in awe from the door window and windshield.
"Wow....This is--" he stopped his thought process for a moment, realizing that he was going gaga over a place that he'd only been to for thirty seconds.
But, what was there not to be in awe about, the city, even if Flash wouldn't publicly admit it, was beautiful. But even so, he still thought of San Francisco as the superior city. "What are you thinking?! You've just got here, you cant just like it because it looks nice"
"Alright, so what do you think?" asked Stormbringer, "Pretty cool, right?"
Flash was broken out of his observant trance, glancing at his father he shrugged, "Uh.. yeah it's cool I guess?"
"Ahhh, you'll get used to this place, pretty soon you'll be a pro San Francisco-advocate to a pro Canterlot-advocate"
Flash, at first glance had no idea what any of that meant, but he could try and grasp the gist of what his dad was saying. He'd most likely oppose to that comment but his dad could very well be right about him eventually liking the city, all's he had to do was give it a chance.
The car stopped at an intersection, the traffic light beaming red. "So, where exactly are the schools here?" Asked Flash.
His dad, tapped his fingertips on the steering wheel, blowing out some air from his mouth, trying to remember, "Well the school I want to send you is at midtown, so 30 minutes from here, most of the other schools are in uptown with a few here in the downtown area."
"Soo.... what's the school in midtown called?"
"Canterlot High!" said Stormbringer.
Flash's eyes narrowed, his eyelids lowered a little, "Wow, Canterlot High I wonder how long it took the city to think of that one!" Flash glanced at his dad, questioning the legitimacy of that name, "Is it really called... Canterlot High?"
His Dad chuckled, "Okay, so maybe the name sounds.....uncreative. But I'm telling you, it's a great school, a lot of friendly people!"
The traffic light changed colors from red to green, signalling all vehicles to drive forward. Flash continued asking the many questions that he could think of, "So...does this city have anything significant to it, like history or something?...Anything?!"
"Hmm...? Well the city is well-known for it's Astronomical breakthroughs and research, does that help?"
Flash nodded, "Well, it's a start, anything else?"
His Dad, licked his teeth, trying to think, "Well.....OH! Music!"
Flash arched an eyebrow, "Music?"
"Yeah Music! This city is pretty well known for their music culture, they've even hosted some of the best broadways in history there that good!"
Flash stroked his chin, "Hmph Music and Astronomy, those seem like the two most unrelated things don't you think?"
Stormbringer briefly shrugged, "Hey you could make the argument that Fog City and Golden Gate City sound like two unrelated things can't you?"
Flash's eyes widened, he tried to think of a counter argument, but his dad was partly right, all's he could do was shrug in defeat, "Huh..Touché."
The car pulled into an outdoor parking lot, just behind an apartment building named the "Seacroft Buildings". The parking lot was filled with other vehicles, mostly being old 2000s with the rare early to mid 2010 vehicles, but mostly 2000s vehicles. Stormbringer could tell, he could identify most of the vehicles, some of which had been discontinued almost a 2 decades ago.
"Well, here we are." He turned the key and then pulled it out of the ignition The two got out of the vehicle and made their way to the trunk, opening it. "Flash could you do me a favor and take that backpack and duffle bag."
Flash nodded, "Okay." He reached for the solid green coloured backpack and the black duffle bag, opening the duffle bag and placing his journal in it. before zipping it close again. Meanwhile his Dad took a suitcase and another blue backpack.
Most of their stuff had been placed in a moving truck and had been brought to the apartment already, apartment #78 on the seventh floor.
The two made their way to the parking lot entrance, a door that had been left opened as the movers were hauling Flash and Stormbringer's belongings to their apartment room. Just walking closer and closer, it seemed obvious that it had been given a new coating of white paint, possibly trying to look appealing.
Walking inside, Flash cringed, as the place reeked an odd odor, something that Flash would probably have to get used to as time progressed.
He pinched his nose, commenting about the awful smell, "EUGH! What's that smell?!"
Stormbringer glanced at Flash with a smirk, "Oh I'm sure it's not that ba-OH DEAR GOD!" As he sniffed the air he too pinched his nose. But even so, he wanted to assure Flash that things haven't gotten that bad yet "Okay, okay, so there's one flaw in his place, but come on maybe the apartment wont be so bad."
Flash wanted to differ, but stayed shut, not wanting to be too hard on a place that he'd just arrive at. "L-Let's just get in the elevator!" he groaned.
The two walked over to the elevator, Stormbringer pressed the button and waited for a moment until the door would slide open.
After the moment went by and the door slid open, the two both walked in. The elevator looked decent, the buttons all seemed to be intact and it smelled like germicide, but honestly, compared to the lobby he stood in a few minutes ago the elevator smelled much better.
Flash stopped pinching his nose, pressing the seventh floor button, the elevator door slid closed and the two began to feel the elevator's force for a moment.
The Elevator's door slid open the two emerged from the vertical transportation device. It was a long hallway, Flash and his father's apartment room was on the left of the hallway, just beside the elevator, something of a convenience to the two of them.
Though the apartment was old, the hallway itself looked pretty decent. The doors all had an dark blue color the walls were artichoke green and the hall way itself was pretty well lit. But of course, every good thing has to have one flaw, and that was another odor.
It smelled like fish mixed with what Flash imagined sewer water to smell like, he pinched his nose again, "So much for the nice hallway!
Meanwhile, Stormbringer overlooked that and met with the landlord, a lady with a husky build, teal skin and white hair. She wore a dress shirt and skirt, completed with dress shoes.
"Why hello there!" She shook Stormbringer's hand, "You must be Mr. Sentry!"
Stormbringer nodded his head, "Yup! That's me." As Flash walked over, he put his hand on his shoulder and patted it, "This here is my son, Flash."
She clasped her hands together and bowed a little, "Hi there!"
"Uh, Hi." Flash tried to sound enthusiastic and exchanged an awkward look to the landlord and briefly raised his arm, half heartedly waiving his hand and putting it back down quickly.
"So I presume you two want to get inside and look at your new home." she chuckled.
Stormbringer decided to play along with sarcasm, "Man, you must be a mind reader." He pretended to act baffled, "How did you know?"
Flash facepalmed, he loved his father, but... there were times where he did some pretty cringeworthy things he did sometimes. "Good Grief dad, good grief!"
The landlord chuckled, "Well then let's hop right to it!" She turned to the door and got the key out, putting it in the key hole and twisting it, opening the door. She turned back at Stormbringer, handing him the keys, one to open the door at the lobby, while the other was the key to his room, "You're gonna need these!"
He smiled, taking the keys and putting them in his top left jacket pocket. She walked inside the apartment with the father and son following closely behind her. Flash closed the door behind him, locking it.
As they walked inside, Flash's nose picked up another glaring smell, the smell of paint, something that he didn't enjoy so much, but at the same time, one he could be contempt with.
The three walked into the living room, it was small but not that small. It'd seemed the movers had placed some of the furniture ahead of their arrival because some things like the coffee table and their CRT TV had been placed right on top, with the wires being put on top.
Some of other essential furniture like their couches had also been placed randomly, with their three seated couch (with notable stains and some tears) against the wall and their sofa chair being placed at the corner of the Livingroom.
Meanwhile, the last of their furniture, a small dining table and three wooden chairs had all been left uncompleted, obviously not really being the jobs of the movers to assemble. To add onto that, their baggage, literal garbage bags with stuff in them had just been left in the middle of the living room.
"So here's the living room!" The landlord introduced, "As you can see, it's at a pretty cozy size but it still has a decent amount of space."
"Hmm, this looks a little bigger than our last place eh Flash?" His father nudged Flash's shoulder.
Flash glanced back at him, "Hm? Oh! Uh, yeah I guess so." He shrugged not really having any serious opinion.
They moved onto the kitchen, this part of the apartment was in the same area as the living room, being separated by a wall with a doorless doorway to get in and out of it.
"So this is the kitchen!" She pointed her arms at some of the kitchen appliances like the fridge and oven, "All of this stuff is still in good working condition and has been working for almost a decade."
Flash looked at the appliances, they were old, and looked to be discoloured, "A decade would probably an understatement lady, this stuff looks a little more older than 3 decades, maybe even four!"
They all walked out of the kitchen and walked through the hallway, where there were three rooms, two bedrooms, the master bedroom and a smaller bedroom, then the final room, the bathroom.
They all walked into the bathroom, it was a decently sized bathroom to say the least, not crazy big but not uncomfortably small, it was a in the middle with it leaning towards the small side a little.
"So this here is the bathroom, with plenty of warm water!"
At the left corner of the bathroom sat a sink cabinet, the cabinet had a yellow coloured counter with white paint making up the rest of the exterior. It had one door slightly bigger than the other. The sink was pretty straightforward, two knobs let out hot or cold water. The faucet had a noticeable water stains while the sink bowl had a stain around the drain.
At the far end of the bathroom was the bathtub, it was a rectangular shaped bathtub that had a decent width and had the length of the bathroom. The bathtub was new however, something that somewhat surprised Flash, other than that there was a white solid coloured showerhead.
Walking out of the bathroom, they walked into the master bedroom, Stormhringers bedroom! It looked to be the second most spacious room, right next to the Livingroom. The bed seemed to had been constructed, with no sheets or pillows whatsoever, just the bed itself. "So here's the master bedroom, the most biggest bedroom in this apartment!"
Other key features the bedroom had was a closet, with one whole wooden panel, only covering about half of the unused space, it had a window overlooking the road and a heater running along the side of the floor.
"Now I must warn you", the landlord chuckled nervously, "the heating here can get a bit.... irritating sometimes, but other than that it should be solid!"
Stormbringer merely shrugged, as the comment didn't seem to phase him, "It's fine."
They all walked out of the master bedroom and walked into the last room, Flash's room.
"And finally the other bedroom!"
Walking inside, the room was definitely smaller, but not as small as Flash had thought. The room had pretty much all the same things as the master bedroom but obviously, everything was more compact to accommodate the size of the bedroom, a heater, a window and a closet, that was it.
There also was another bed, already constructed, it was just a simple, single bed, no more, no less. Flash's eyebrows were furrowed, peering at the room, making comparisons to the one here and at his apartment at San Francisco "Well...at looks a little more decent than the one back home."
The landlord turned to back to Flash and Stormbringer, "Well.... that's kind of it for our whole tour."
Stormbringer nodded, smiling, "Well thank you mam for the tour, I think we've found everything to our liking."
She smiled, "Your welcome!" she started for the door, "If there's anything you need, my office and apartment is on the first floor!" She exited the bedroom, leaving Flash and Stormbringer in there.
Stormbringer put his hand on Flash's hand, "Well kid, this is it, our new home!"
"Yeah..." Flash nodded.
Some silence went by for a moment, until Stormbringer spoke, "Sooo…. you wanna unpack some of the stuff?"
Flash shrugged, he really didn't have anything else he wanted to do, "Sure." The two walked off and out of the bedroom.
Okay so I'm back and It's currently 2:46 in the morning! I can't believe I'm saying this but, dad was right about me getting my writing touch back when we came to this new city.
So the apartment's we now (and probably permanently!) live in is decent I guess, I mean I'll be man enough to admit that it's better than San Francisco, but still I'm not about to undermine my Hometown for some new city just near New York.
I mean, so far the only person we've met here was that landlady and she seemed pretty nice, which is really, really great! And our apartment room is on the seventh floor.
I think I spent about one hour unpacking a bag or something and we still have more!, I mean we have a lot of clothes, but some of the clothes we have aren't even used for wearing, we just need them as cleaning rags, it's not exactly.... normal I guess but I honestly don't question it, whatever helps to make a place clean is my only concern.
OH! Yeah! I almost forgot to mention but, I found my guitar! It took multiple searches but I finally found "ol'reliable" She's just a red bass guitar though, but still finding this thing was probably the most greatest thing about tonight, I mean you should know, I basically write about playing this thing 24/7!
Man I am really running outta pages for this thing, only a matter of time I have to buy a new one!
Well, I might as well end it off here....
Author's Note
So that was the second chapter of Prospect, Getting Settled in.
So I decided to have Flash as a guy who plays the gutair, you know, Canon Flash! (Well not really because of the whole, Baskteballl element and all that but you get the pciture)
anyway, In this chapter, Flash and Stormbringer have made it to Canterlot after 1.8 whole days which is like 40 or something hours I need to do some math. And It's clear that the apartment is really cheap and has bad odors.
Other than that I ended it off with a journal entry, I think I'm gonna have Flash do this in almost every chapter, well at least for the majority of the story which will be on a span of four years.
So in this headcanon I slightly altered things like the fact that all the movies have already happened, so that would mean Flash never existed as Twilights love interest, now to whoever could fill that role....I don't know.
One week, one whole week of Summer left. Flash had finally realized this was the last week of August and then it was back to school for him. Just it wont be the same school, it will be some different school that he would have to go to for four years, unless another move happens.
Flash however was going to school, Canterlot High to be exact. His father had arranged for him to go to the school for a tour, where he'd be introduced to the school and look at all the key places of the school. He put on a white t-shirt with a graphic of a blue shield and lightning bolt and he topped it off with a leather jacket with a white and red stripe going around it.
Flash's room had been filled up pretty quickly, his bed was now made with a basic blue blanket on top of it and a blue pillow. His guitar was leaned on a wall, right beside his bed. He now had a desk in his room with a bunch of writing utensils and some paper scattered on it and probably one of his most prized possessions, an MSI gt70 laptop, he'd gotten lucky and won it at a raffle contest almost 7 years ago, with that being said it was a bit old and really bulky, but it did get the job done and really well.
He ran to his dresser, checking his hair, patting the sides of it and making sure it was ready to go. Once he thought it looked good, he shot himself smug look and pointed his fingers at his reflection.
Walking out of his room, he started for the living room, where his Dad was waiting for him. Then he stopped, he heard what sound like someone speaking from a radio and what he could make out to be the sound of cheering.
"Malone, double team and scores over Kareem none the less!"
Flash arched an eyebrow but continued to walk into the living room, going past the hallway, he saw that the television was opened and then it hit Flash, his father was watching a basketball game, and it seemed to be very old, as it could be told by the vintage looking quality.
"Uh Dad?" Flash asked, "What exactly are you watching?!"
Stormbringer's attention to the game was cutoff for a moment as he blinked and turned his head to Flash, "Oh Hey! Me? Oh, I'm just watching an old Ball game."
Flash glanced back at the TV, "Okay... against who?"
"Oh well it's the Lakers vs Rockets and let me tell you, Moses Malone is probably the greatest Center I've ever seen! This guy averaged 25 and 18 once! Then he won the MVP" He shook his head, "Man, if he played today I'm not sure Lebron or Curry could stop him. Hell I'm not sure even sur Joel Embiid would be able to stop him, and I like Joel."
Flash curled his lip in confusion, he knew his Dad liked basketball but honestly, he never understood the buzz around the sport, no less his father's obsession with it. But what he did understand was he was gonna be late if his Dad didn't hurry up.
"Yeah, uh Dad that's great and all but, we gotta go." He pointed his thumb at the door, "Or else I'm gonna be late for the whole tour thing or whatever, remember, the thing you're kinda making me do."
"Yeah, yeah!" His dad nodded his head momentarily, getting up off the couch, he paused for a moment. Watching as Kareem Abdul Jabaar gets the ball from a feed from Lucius Allen and go up for a skyhook, making it right over Malone, "Ooo! Damn!" He turned his head at Flash. "Flash you gotta admit that was probably the most nicest skyhook ever done!"
Flash's shoulders dropped, letting an annoyed sigh out his nose he facepalmed himself. "Yeah sure--Dad let's go!" Flash responded quickly, just letting his dad hear what he wanted to hear.
Stormbringer came back in focus, "Oh right!" He shuffled his feet towards the remote and paused the game. Grabbing his keys he and Flash headed for the door.
The 2001 Chevy Suburban pulled up into the driveway of Canterlot High, which at that point Flash had been jokingly calling it the generic named school. Looking at the building through the passenger window however, he realized that the building was a lot different to what he imagined.
What Flash imagined was a three story building made of brown bricks with it's name written in Arial-like font right on the front. He was partially right, about the part of it being a three-story building.
The building itself had pink exterior walls with a brick roof and windows being visible everywhere. There a lot of eye catching aspects for Flash. One such aspect was the use of horses.
As Flash and Stormbringer were driving to the new school, one thing Flash had noticed was a gold horse shoe statue with the words Canterlot High Wondercolts just in front of it. Than it was the roof, on each corner of the roof there was a gold horse head which really, really weirded out Flash a little but he knew Schools were serious about their mascots.
Something else that was aesthetically pleasing about the school was the huge dome glass at the top, another eye catching aspect about the big school.
Flash and Srormbringer got out of the car. "Okay so this place doesn't look as cliche as I thought it did!" He and his father started for the enterance to the school.
"So, what do yo think?" Asked Stormbringer asked, "This place cool or what?"
Flash shrugged, "I'm not gonna be quite sure until I get the tour." Flash pushed the entrance to the school opened.
The foyer was big to say the least. There were some banners hanging on some railings, 2 flights of stairs on the far right and far left and the pathway leading to the lockers and main hallway. "Okay so, where do we go?" asked Flash.
Stormbringer looked around, stroking his chin, "Well there should be an office around here somewhere."
It was then they were approached by a very tall lady, the same height as Stormbringer. "I think I may be of help." Stormbringer turned around and saw a woman with pale pink skin and long multi-coloured hair. She wore a yellow blazer with a sun pin on one of the colours and a purple dress shirt underneath along with purple slacks and tan shoes.
She was accompanied by a student. A boy with dark blue hair and pale blue skin. He wore a blue track suit with yellow stripes going down the sleeves and pants. Along with that he wore pair of NMD's.
"I'm the principal of this school, Celestia." She gave her hand out to shake, "And I presume you must be....Stormbringer Sentry?" She arched an eyebrow.
He nodded, "Yes Mam!" He shook her hand. He then gestured his hand at Flash, "Oh this here is my son, Flash. Flash's eyes widened for a moment. He rose his shoulders and waived awkwardly.
"Uh...Hi?"
Celestia giggled, "It's very nice to meet you! You'll make an excellent addition to our family at Canterlot High!"
Flash arched an eyebrow for a moment, "Oh....So she's one of those principals...…..Oh dear god she's one of those principals."
She then gestured at the student that was accompanying her, "This is one of Canterlot High's star athletes, Soarin Skies."
Soarin cocked his head up, he had nodded his head with a very chill and nonchalant expression, "Sup."
"He's going to be your tour guide for today. He's also a ninth grader student so I believe you two can become pretty well acquainted." She turned to Stormbringer, "Now Mr. Sentry, I believe you and I have some paperwork to discuss about." The two left, starting for the office.
That just left Flash and Soarin standing there for a few seconds. "Uh...So let's do this thing!" Soarin tried to sound as enthusiastic as possible. But in reality, he realized that he was not qualified for this job, "Man I knew I should've let Rainbow Dash handle this!"
The two began heading towards the hallway as Soarin didn't really know where to start. As the two were walking he decided to begin some conversation with Flash, "So uh... Flash where ya from?"
Flash glanced at Soarin, "Hm? Oh I'm from San Francisco."
Soarin nodded, "That's cool, so uh what was the name of the neighbourhood you lived in?"
"We lived in Mission District."
Soarin nodded again, but then stopped letting those words sink in, "Wait, Mission District?"
Flash nodded his head, "Yeah."
Soarin continued to think, than it finally hit him on where he's heard that name, "Dude um... I may be wrong but isn't Mission District one of the most dangerous parts of San Francisco?"
Flash's eyes widened for a moment, "Well... only at night, I usually went out during the day because god forbid I leave at night. I mean my Dad worked late and he always told me of all the gang activity he would see sometimes."
"So is that why you guys came to Canterlot then?" asked Soarin.
"Well I guess." Flash shrugged, "Well other than the fact my dad got a job here."
They stopped at the English hall, where all of the English classes would take place. The hallway itself had a white wall with quotes of famous lines in books or from authors splattered all over the wall. "So this is the English hall, Where the rooms 191A to 193B are located."
Walking into the hallway, Flash looked at each class. They all were relatively the same, one smaller than the other and they also had one interesting aspect about them. The use of paper lamps.
Walking out of the English Hall, Flash and Soarin continued to talk, "So uh? What's this school like?" asked Flash.
"Well it's pretty lit here!" Soarin exclaimed, "Great teachers, awesome classes and well the sports teams aren't half bad either."
Walking out of the English hall, they walked down the hallway and to their right where they went to their next destination. The Tech Hallway.
"So this is the tech hall!" Soarin pointed with his arm, "These classes teach you everything from Computers, Robotics, Graphic Design I could practically go on!" Flash looked down the hall, he wasn't the most knowledgeable in the technology field nor was he really that much of a tech student, but the subjects sounded decent enough to possibly be in.
They walked into the tech hall, there were eight classes, one door on each side. Each class seemed to more or less have the same aspects. All of which was having multiple computers in their rooms. One room was filled with rows and rows of iMacs and a huge projector screen. Another had PC's and a bunch of robotic parts for their classes.
Walking out the tech hallway, they headed for the stairs. "So uh Flash? Have you ever done any sort of sport before?" Soarin asked.
Flash thought for a moment, "Well..... the only two sports I've ever done was Sprinting in Track and Field and then I once tried playing badminton."
"How'd badminton go for you?"
"I was alright." Flash shrugged, "Nothing Superstar like but I made the team at my old school."
"What about Track?"
"Well I only did it until 7th grade, I tore my hamstring during a tournament and I was out for the remainder of the season."
"Woah!?" Soarin was baffled, "Was it serious?!"
"I mean, It was a grade 2 tear so yeah I guess it was pretty serious."
They walked up the stairs as they continued their conversation, "So uh, have you thought about coming back to Track and Field?" Soarin asked, "You know I think you could fit in with our team."
Flash shrugged, "I did, but I didn't really wanna go through the whole injury thing again so I kinda just focused a lot more on music."
Soarin nodded, "Well... I guess I can respect that."
They walked down the hall and towards the math hallway, "So what kind of instrument do you play?"
"I play the bass guitar." Flash replied, "I got it for my birthday when I was 8 but I didn't actually start taking it seriously until like two years ago."
"Well that's cool." said Soarin.
They walked towards the math hallway, Soarin sort of shrugged, "Well uh, this is the math hallway. I mean it's kinda just normal classrooms but you know uh.... if you like math than this is probably your place."
The walked out of the math hallway. Starting for the staircase again and heading for the Science department of the school.
"So, what about you?" Flash asked, "What sports and hobbies do you have?"
Soarin shrugged, "Well I try to play most sports." He said, "But my main sport is Soccer!"
"Soccer?"
"Yeah Soccer!" Soarin pushed the door opened. Him and Flash began walking up the stairs, "It's just UGH! It's just so climactic!" He exclaimed, "You never know what's gonna happen, either team could score. It's like the action movies of sports!"
"What about hockey?" asked Flash.
"HOCKEY! OH MAN HOCKEY'S JUST AS GOOD!" Soarin realized he was getting a bit too excited, "But you know, Soccer I really, really like Soccer.
Walking into the third floor they walked to the Science hall, "So this is basically where the science classes are!" said Soarin, "We have like four classes for the ninth and tenth graders and the other four are just for the sperate strands like Chemistry and Physics and all that."
They walked out the hallway and went to their right, walking down the hall.
"So uh.... that's kinda it." Soarin Shrugged, "The School is in the process of building an auditorium but other than that the only other places I can think of are the cafeteria, the music room, the library and well the best room in this whole school."
Flash arched an eyebrow feeling like he knew where that place could be, "Where would that be--"
"THE GYMNASSSIUUUM!" Soarin exclaimed.
Flash's eyes widened, blinking twice he just shook his head, "Okay.."
They started for the staircase, heading back to the first floor. Walking down step by step until they reached the front foyer again.
Walking past towards the gym, they past a picture of a girl wearing a crown and looking quite sinister and sadistic look on her face. She had red and yellow hair, yellow skin and she wore what appeared to be a prom gown. Flash arched an eyebrow, "Man that really screams overlord wannabe. Who is that?"
Soarin glanced back at Flash, looking to the wall his eyes widened at the picture Flash was looking at. "Oh her!?" All the memories from last year came back to him, The Fall Formal, The Battle of the Bands, The Friendship Games they were all coming back to him.
He trembled for a moment, but then shook it off, "That's Sunset Shimmer."
Flash glanced back at Soarin, "So uh.... what's with the evil look?" He smirked.
"Oh that." He waived that comment off, "pshh, That was back when she used to be a bit....mean and kinda….. really, really like the whole title of 'Queen' thing."
"Oh!" Flash nodded, "That's... neat I guess? Is she someone I should be worried about if we cross paths?"
Soarin shook his head, "Nah you're safe, she's actually pretty chill now. Well.... I mean I wouldn't push her buttons though."
Flash looked back at the picture for a moment. He eventually shrugged, "Alright."
The two headed for the gym. Continuing to walk down the hallway and all the way until they reached a blue door with a push bar on it.
The doors were opened so the two walked inside. It wasn't far off from your average gymnasium. The logo of the school is deadest in the middle, there are place mats on one far end and the other, there were six basketball hoops. Two on the far end with 3-point keys and free throw lines while the other four were just on the side without any lines at all.
They headed for the supply room, where most of the supplies were located. Walking inside there was a lot of supplies, to the far end was a bucket full of Hockey sticks, a box full of Dodgeballs and frisbees another box full of Soccer balls and Hockey balls, some Badminton rackets along with some Birdies in the corner and finally a box full of Basketballs.
Soarin took out two, 29.5 inch Under Armour Basketballs. Passing one to Flash, "Hey? Have you ever played Basketball before?"
Flash's eyes widened as he was given the ball. "Uhh, no not really, It's not really my thing."
The two walked out of the supply room, heading for one of the hoops with a 3 point and free throw line. "Hey I hear ya man! I never really cared all that much about the sport either." He began dribbling the ball through his legs, using his finger tips as he dribbles. "But I kinda have a soft spot for it."
Flash meanwhile watched as Soarin displayed dribble moves while he on the other hand was just holding the ball. "Well I mean, I never just really understood the buzz around it." said Flash, "I mean soccer I guess I can understand. It's like you said, 'you never know what's going to happen' I mean I guess it's just a ball people bounce and shoot into a net. I mean I wouldn't sit around watching that for an hour straight."
Soarin hopped and set his feet as he pulled up to the three point line. He stopping his dribble, he palmed the ball in his hand before placing his left hand on the side of the ball, spreading out all his fingers. He bent his knees and raised his arm up making sure his elbow was in and that it was aligned with his knee. His legs straightened as his feet moved up before they were off the ground and at that moment he released the ball with his right hand. Doing all of that in one quick sequence.
The ball went on arc, reaching it's highest point . It then began falling again and eventually it fell right into the basketball hoop.
*SWISH*
Flash had watched as Soarin had done all of that in one sequence. It may've looked simple to the naked eye but in reality Flash knew that probably took a lot of practice.
Soarin glanced back at Flash, "Well, I mean I'm not sure saying bouncing ball and shooting it into a hoop would be the only thing about Basketball but hey I get where you're coming from. But... at least give the sport a shot?" He didn't intend for a pun by Flash knew what he meant.
Flash walked up to the three-point. He looked up at the ten-foot rim. Looking back at the basketball, he smacked the side of it, getting the noise out of it. "I've never really shot one of these before."
Soarin shrugged, "Well hey trying is what counts right? Remember, right hand on the top and left on the side oh make sure to spread your fingers when you shoot."
Flash nodded, "I...guess." He looked up to the hoop. Thinking back to what Soarin had just done. Trying to emulate exactly what he did. He bent his knees and spread his fingers out on each hand. Raising his arms up and putting his elbow in he also began to unbend his knees and go up for a jumpshot.
Releasing the ball with his right he watched as it went into the air and on an arc.
But then it fell down, not even hitting the rim and for that fact the backboard. In other words, COMPLETE AIRBALL.
Flash's shoulders dropped, the ball didn't even go that far compared to Soarin's Shot. "Wow that was really bad." Flash chuckled.
"Pshh don't worry about that." Soarin reassured, "You're off-hand might've gotten in the way when you released, it happened to me all the time."
Flash chuckled a bit more. Looking at the clock he noticed it was almost 12:00, "I think we should probably head back right about now."
Soarin glanced at the clock as well, "Yeah you're probably right."
The two went over to take their Basketball's and to go put them back in the supply room.
Entry #147
Okay where do I begin.....
My day starts off with waking up in eight in the morning, EIGHT! I never wake up that early on a summer morning. The earliest I wake up is probably Eleven.
But I have an excuse, My dad signed me up for some school tour at the generic named school, A.K.A Canterlot High.
Honestly, it kinda went great, really great. I met some chill guy named Soarin today, he's one of those school athletes but honestly we both kinda got along pretty quickly.
It was kinda your basic school tour, walk around be showed some rooms and stuff, the usual.
I mean that's kinda it. The only other thing I did was shoot a Basketball but I missed wasn't interested in it so I just didn't shoot it.
I mean the school looks promising, I just hope I can make it through the year without combusting down in June.
Author's Note
Okay so uh, new chapter.
I wanted to get this out on Tuesday but I was way too focused on FSTSS Issue #5 and well now Issue #3's redo. But other than that I also had school to deal with so tests and exams were kinda flooding my schedule.
I mean I'm good now so I'm gonna try and get as much done during the two week break but I'm making no promises.
So this chapter was hard to conceptualize as I had no idea on how I was carry the story on from Chapter two. Anyway I decided to start it off with an NBA reference because somebody asked and I was kinda like "Ehh…. I guess", I just want the whole basketball thing for Flash to be a gradual process instead of a right away thing.
So the reference itself was this quote,
"Malone, double team and scores over Kareem none the less!"
That did happen in a real game between the Rockets and The Lakers way back in the seventies or sixties where Moses Malone gets a shot over Kareem Abdul Jabaar (In my opinion the best Center ever!) I'm more of a Raptors Fan but I like almost every NBA team and also Moses Malone is one of my favorite legends.
Speaking of Basketball, Flash finally balls out! XD
Well he took a shot in which he air balled (That fool let his off-hand interfere with his shooting hand) but that's not what I hate about the chapter. What I really hate was this quote,
"it's just a ball people bounce and shoot into a net. I mean I wouldn't sit around watching that for an hour straight."
That made me cringe at myself. But I'm a BBall fan, if you truly don't like the game I'm not opposed to you're opinion.
Summer was over. It's now the month of September. Flash had done his morning routine and had gotten ready for school. When the realization had hit him:He's going into school with virtually no friends.
Flash of course knew Soarin, but he probably was gonna be with the athletes and Flash was not really an athlete.
He looked out the window of his car. Though he had told himself this a million times that he wasn't gonna get nervous, he was in fact nervous. To himself, he was going into an unknown territory full of people he's never met.
The Car stopped at the parking lot, "Okay Flash, this is it." said Stormbringer, "Remember, I'm gonna right here at 3:00 alright."
Flash nodded, "Yeah."
Stormbringer smiled and patted Flash's shoulder, "Alright, have fun."
Flash nodded. He got out of the car, schedule in hand. He began walking towards the entrance of school. But it was different this time. The whole school yard was filled with students, talking amongst one and other. Flash could feel a lump in his throat, he was beyond nervous.
Flash looked back, his father was beginning to drive away. Now Flash was really alone in this new school. He looked back at the building and gulped.
Then, his eyes narrowed. "What are you doing!? Are you really gonna let some school scare you!" He closed his eyes and began prepping himself up, "Alright you can do this, you've been to school for at least....." He stopped to do the math, "14-3....Eleven or so years. You can do this, you have to do this!"
He opened his eyes again. Taking a deep breath and marching towards the school entrance.
Entering the school, al of that confidence he had just built up dropped. Somehow, the hallways seemed bigger to him, maybe it was just all the students everywhere or maybe it was just him.
Flash looked at his schedule. "Okay first class.....Homeroom, Room 218C." He made his way through the many students in the front foyer and started for the stairs. He didn't really have anywhere else to go, no one to talk to. So making the trip from the front foyer to homeroom seemed like the only thing he could do.
He walked up the stairs to the second floor. It was a bit less congested with people, but still groups of friends could be seen hanging out. Flash walked through the hallway, looking at his surroundings. At a corner of the hallway sat a group of guys and girls talking about future school events
Flash walked around the corner, heading for straight for the math hall. Briefly glancing at a locker he accidentally saw a couple kissing. He immediately looked the other way before the couple could see him. His eyes were widened and his cheeks blushing red a little. "Oh dear god I could've lived life without seeing that!"
He began walking in a hurry. Walking towards the math hall he turned again. But then, things got even worse. As he was speed walking he accidentally collided into another student who'd been walking out of the math hall. The two both fell back and landed on their bottoms. The student's binder and pencil case fell to the ground.
Flash facepalmed himself while he was on the ground. "OH COME ON!? YOU'VE ONLY BEEN HERE FOR FIVE MINUTES AND YOUR MAKING YOURSELF LOOK LIKE AN DUMBASS!" Flash looked at the person he collided into. "Oh god, I-I am so sorry!" He apologized with urgency, "I had no idea of where I was looking."
"It's fine." The voice was female. That made Flash worry even more, what if it was someone's girlfriend. Who knows what could be done to him. The girl picked up her stuff and helped Flash off the ground, "Just uh, be careful in the hallways." She chuckled and walked off.
Flash proceeded to walk away. The he stopped, glancing back at the girl. It was the girl from that picture he'd seen during his tour. The Fall Formal queen with that sinister expression in the picture. His eyebrow arched for a moment. The he glanced forward, not really knowing what to make of that confrontation. "That was....something."
He walked towards his homeroom. Class 218C. The door was wide open and only a few students were in the class. This made it less difficult to find a seat, with not that many people in the class, Flash could just take a random seat and not worry about sitting beside someone he didn't know.
So he did, taking a seat at the front of the class and setting his bag down right beside the desk. He took his phone out, "I wonder how Striker is doing?"
He began texting one of his friends from San Francisco, Striker Halemarry.
Flash: Ey
Flash sat there for a moment, then after a few seconds, the icon of his friends profile pic lit up. Signifying he was online
Striker: Ey
Flash: So is it like also the first day of school for you?
Striker: Yeah pretty much. How about u?
Flash: Yup, so far I'm kinda a loner 😂
Striker: It's probably just that new student feeling. I mean you've been through worse right? Like that time you kinda flopped on the track.
Flash: First of all I tore my hamstring and that shit hurt. but even so I'm so not into this school. I mean I'll be lucky if I can grind until Christmas!
Striker: It probably wont even be that bad Flash. I mean your the new guy the worst they'll do is just ask you questions about where your from or what was your home like. u know the cliché's
Flash: Well you're probably not wrong. But this whole thing is gonna blow not having any friends at the moment.
Striker: Ey I gotta go. Class is gonna start soon. And hey good luck in Canterlot City.
Soon Striker disconnected. Leaving Flash to drop his shoulders in disappointment, "Man, and I was beginning to feel at home to." He swiped up at the bottom of his phone and tapped the home button. Going through his app drawer, he looked at games and other apps he's either been through a million times or simply never used.
He pressed the power button, turning off the screen and putting the phone in his pocket. He let out a sigh and rested his forehead on his desk, "Man can time go any slower right now?! Man why does time perception have to be a bitc--
"Uh, excuse me?" Flash raised his head and glanced at a student talking to him. It was a guy with pale navy blue hair and yellow skin. He wore a simple t-shirt with a star on it, grey sweat pants with the bottoms cupped and some regular Nike runners. "Uh.. is anyone sitting here?"
Flash looked to the seat next to him and then looked back at the student. He simply shrugged, not really knowing himself as he'd just walk into the class.
"So uh, do you mind if I sit here?" asked the student.
Again, Flash simply shrugged but this time actually said something, "I mean....yes I guess I don't-- I don't really know."
The student placed his bag on the desk and sat beside Flash. There was a silence between the two of them. That is until the student spoke again, "So uh... I'm not sure I've seen you around here before."
Flash glanced back at the student, he thought for a moment, "Well it's better than waiting for the bell to ring."
"Oh, I just moved here recently."
The Student's eyes widened, nearly choking on his own spit, "Oh!.....that's cool." He got a bit nervous. The year before Flash's arrival, Canterlot High had five whole new students just randomly come to the school. One was a girl he had fell in love with, than it was three sisters who came by during a music competition, than....it was a girl he fell in love with but this time she wore glasses and came for the friendship games.
"OH DEAR GOD!?….Okay... please don't be some magical threat bent on destroying us!?" He thoughtfully pleaded to himself. Taking a deep breath as he thought, "So uh, I'm Comet Tail, and you are..."
Flash introduced himself to Comet Tail, "Flash, Flash Sentry."
He stammered a little, "Okay Flash.... whe-where you from?"
Flash immediately thought back to what his friend Striker had just told him. The part about 'the cliché's' he wanted to facepalm knowing his friend was right, but instead he just answered. "Man talk about the cliché's!"
"San Francisco."
Comet Tail's shoulders dropped in relief, "Oh thank god He's a normal human being!" The thought of a new student almost gave him the chills due to last years... 'events'.
"Well, welcome to Canterlot High Flash!" He sounded a bit more enthusiastic, "Home of The Wondercolts!"
Flash smiled and nodded, "Uh.. Thanks." He didn't know any other way he could respond to that.
The Bell rang. By then Class 218C had been filled up with students. For Flash it was people he'd never seen or talk to before. By that point him and Comet Tail had just have a few small conversations here and there.
"So you really witnessed somebody shove a watermelon in their nose?"
"Yup." Flash nodded, "Whether or Not it was worth it.... I still have no idea. But I only had that one chance so I took it."
Soon the teacher walked in. A woman with brunette hair put into a bun and light blue skin. She wore a dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a blazer over it. She had a black skirt and wore black dress shoes.
"Welcome back everyone!" said the Teacher, "I hope you all had an extraordinary summer break and are ready to get back into the swing of things." She walked over to the chalkboard and wrote her name, "My name is Mrs. Heartstone! and I'm your Homeroom teacher!"
Flash looked at his schedule, looking at each class he realized that he had a math class with Mrs. Heartstone at the last period.
She continued to talk, "Now, I want to start the class of by everybody introducing themselves to each other. So we can all get acquainted!"
Flash's eyes widened, talking to new people he's never met would probably be at the bottom of his list of do's, "Great, Now I actually have to talk to peo--"
"And how about we start with you." She pointed Flash.
His eyes widened, his whole thought process became completely disoriented. "OH COME ON?!" He panicked, somehow someway he'd been thrown into the most uncomfortable situation he could be in right now.
"Would you please stand at the front of the class and introduce yourself." She asked nicely.
Flash got out of his seat. He could feel the sweat go down his face, it was only a matter of time before he completely combusted up there.
He walked to the front of the class, turning around and facing everyone. He gulped nervously at the sight of so many people he'd never seen before.
"Whenever you're ready." said Mrs. Heartstone.
Flash raised his hand and waived, "Uh...Hi, I'm Flash uh...….. I'm not really from this area....or this city for that matter." He gulped again, he knew for a fact that he was gonna look back at this moment and hate his fourteen year old self.
Mrs. Heartsone's eyes sparkled in excitement, "Oh so you're a new student!" Flash nervously grinned, he nodded his head and shrugged. "Well isn't that nice, so where are you from Flash?"
That caught the attention of some of the class. The term new student would've probably gotten the to their feet. They weren't opposed to new students, but they were a bit skeptical because of what happened last year.
"Well I'm from San Francisco." Flash stammered, "Uh... Well that's it." He walked back to his seat in a hurry. "Oh man, that was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever been through!"
"Well...that was excellent Flash!" Said Mrs. Heartstone, "Comet Tail would you like to go next?"
Comet Tail shrugged as he walked to the front.
Meanwhile however, just that small action of walking away in a hurry caught the attention of seven girls who all looked suspicious of this 'new kid'. Rainbow Dash The Star Athlete, Pinkie Pie The Baking Maniac, Rarity The extravagant Fashionista, Applejack the strong and tough farm girl, Fluttershy the Animal Whisperer, Twilight the Wise and Intelligent and last but not least, Sunset the Strategical leader.
Maybe it was just a normal new student, or maybe this kid might end up being someone they'd have to keep an eye on in case he's a magical threat. And judging by they're record of new student's recently, that may be the case.
Author's Note
So here's the next chapter to Prospect. I wanted it to be uploaded on Friday but I got really lazy so I kinda forgot and let me say something, Doing weekly uploads is harder for me than I thought. But I love the challenge so.....
Anyway, Flash finally is off on his first day at Canterlot High and he is hating every moment of it. He's basically entering new territory and I guess I could kinda relate because at one point I was also a new kid and I was like, "Damn.....This shit really happening I'm nervous as hell!"
But anyway I kinda plan on making it a running joke that Flash being a new kid might be a magical threat. Just a play on how every time a new character appears and they have a significant role in EG, they end up being a magical threat.
Oh yeah also, the introduction of Comet Star. So...…. He was the guy that took Flash's place during the whole, "I'm Sunset Shimmer I stole your crown, nah sike I got beat hey I'm sorry and all that!" Story, otherwise known as MLP EG The Movie.
So why'd I choose him? Well he seemed to be shipped a lot with Twilight Sparkle and I was kinda like, "Cool, Okay." and I kinda put him in 😅
Will he have any sciginficant role? Probably I'm not about to Yamcha this man!
Other than that I just made an OC character, the Teacher Mrs. Heartstone.
It was an intense moment. Flash could feel the sweat drip down his head. He stared intensely at his notebook. His hand was probably quivering more than it ever had in it's life. "Come on Flash. You can do this! You've done this a million times."
He glanced away from his notebook and instead directed his attention to the math sheet in front of him. His eyes narrowed on the sheet for a few seconds, "Curse you Math! You and your complex formulas!" He clenched his pencil in his hands.
But at last, the lunch bell finally rang! It had seemed Flash had been saved by his 'lousy time perception'. He, as well as many other students began packing up. Flash sighing in relief that his so called torture was finally over.
But as he got up from his seat, he soon began to realize something, "Wait? LUNCH!?" He realized quickly, using quick math, "new school+no real friends=Where the hell am I going to sit?!"
However, Comet Tail caught up with Flash . "Uh, yo it's Flash right?"
Flash was nearly startled, he let out a scream and faced Comet Star, "Uh, yeah."
"Hey I know you're new and all. So uh, I was wondering if you want to hang with my friends during lunch. We have our own table at the caf and everything."
Flash arched an eyebrow. Immediately, multiple clichés entered his head. But at this point, he could care less about being blunt. And he'd honestly be willing to engage in some social interaction, even if it was to his dismay
He shrugged, "Sure...I...guess."
"Great!"
Both he and Comet Tail entered the very crowded Cafeteria. Flash's eyes widened almost instantly and his jaw dropped to the ground. "Oh....My...…….God." Flash, in his life had never seen this much people before. Especially in cafeteria. That being said, his old school was a lot smaller. That and this was his first time in a high school.
"Smell that." said Comet Tail.
"What, you mean discomfort?"
"No. I mean today's special." Comet Tail chuckled, "That's the first day Lunch lady Smith Apple Pie Special."
Flash arched an eyebrow, "Is that's really what it's called?"
"No but I like to think it's that." The two began heading for a table. "Anyway, what do you think?"
Flash let out a sigh, "I think I'm gonna have a panic attack."
Comet Tail laughed. "Come on man. Don't act all senile me. Trust me, every single person here has basically been through what you're going through."
"If you say so."
They finally made it to a table. The table that Comet Tail was talking about. The table had three other kids sitting there. "Flash, meet my friends! Cheese Sandwich, Micro Chips and Sandalwood."
Cheese Sandwich, a boy with really curly brown hair and tan orange skin. Enthusiastically greeted Flash. "Hi!"
Micro Chips. The most intelligent gave Flash a very formal greeting. "Salutations."
And finally, Sandalwood. The most chill of the group, gave Flash an equally casual greeting. "Sup."
Flash, half heartedly. Raised his hand and slightly waived. "Uhh, hey there."
Both him and Comet Tail grabbed some seats. Grabbing their lunches out of their bags.
It Cheese Sandwich who first spoke up. Naturally being the unintentional confident one of the group, "Hey, I don't think of seen you here before." He sarcastically arched his back and put his hands on his hips, "Are you new."
Flash took a bite out of his sandwich. Glancing at Cheese Sandwich and nodding.
That's when Cheese Sandwich's eyes went wide, and his smile quickly disappeared. His once enthusiastic look became completely panicked. Meanwhile, both Sandalwood and Micro Chips stopped what they were doing (Working on a tiny circuit board and eating a salad) and joined Cheese Sandwich.
Also meanwhile. Comet Tail's eyes widened. Not because he was afraid of Flash, but because he had to now formulate how he was supposed to explain the new kid.
At that point, Flash started to see a trend. Every time he'd mention he was new, everyone and their mom's looked like they were about to keel' over. So he finally begged the question. "Okay, what is the deal with everyone and new kids?"
They all looked at Flash with very, very panicked faces.
"Well, come one now. It's not like I can read minds."
Micro Chips sighed as he decided it was his turn to have a conversation with Flash. "Look, uh Flash. There's a certain... Well mainly certain unspoken decree's here at Canterlot High."
Flash arched an eyebrow, "I...don't even know what decree means." He sighed, "Go on."
"Well, in this school's entirety. Aside from the eight graders we always get. Canterlot High has only had five news kids from separate cities."
Sandalwood chimed into the conversation, "Those kids were Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze."
Flash's shoulders dropped, "I...am pretty sure I've heard like two out of those five names."
"Exactly!" said Comet Tail. "Anyway. Those three are basically the reason on why everyone is so hesitant on new students."
"What they do?" asked Flash.
"Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze. A.K.A....." Cheese Sandwich took a slight pause. Breathing in for a moment, "THE DAZZLINGS!"
Flash took a long blink. After being nearly startled by Cheese Sandwich's scream, "Was that really necessary?"
"Yes! But anyways, The Dazzling's came along a few months after the Fall Formal!" Cheese Sandwich explained, "At the time we all thought they were normal students. But then.....they completely put the school under control and brain washed them."
"The next was Twilight Sparkle.....My Girlfriend!" Said Comet Tail, "Out of all the five, only two of them still go to the school. And she is one of the two. She came along right before Spring Break. During the Friendship Games--"
Flash interjected, "Wait, just wait." A grin slowly began to form on his face, "The Friendship games." He began snickering.
"Y-Yeah so the name sounds kinda….ridiculous but hey it was intense!" Comet Tail explained, "She was from the rival school Crystal Prep. Well, the games were just about to wrap up and the teams were about to play their last event. That's when suddenly, she became this magic....kinda hot.....DEMON! She nearly killed everyone and even broke the gateway to two worlds. But luckily she was stopped and saved by Sunset Shimmer."
Flash's eyes widened, he gain interjected. "Wait! Just wait! a-and I'm serious this time. I'm not about laugh" He took a quick breather, "Just Pause. W-what are these things you guys are telling me? Mind Controlling, Magic Demo--What the hell type of school is this?! Wh-wh-what's next huh?!" Flash found himself chuckling, "What, did the other one become some dangerous deity or something and like....pfft I don't know get stopped by Friendship and colorful stuff?" He found himself chuckling even more. In fact he found himself laughing. However, when Flash glanced at all of them. They weren't laughing, in fact. They looked at him as if he got it spot on. Flash stopped laughing, "What? Guys I was just kidding."
"N-No dude, your actually spot on' said Sandalwood, "L-Like eerily spot on."
Flash's eyes widened again. Dropping his shoulders he merely got one noise out of his mouth, "Huh?"
The three all sighed. Sandalwood continued, "So....The third and final person came to our school way before Twilight or the Dazzling's. And her name....was Sunset Shimmer."
"You've probably seen her around." said Comet Tail, "She's kind of given the nickname.....Bacon head sometime--Look, it's kind of a debate. But between her and The Dazzling's, I think she may have started the whole fear of new kids trend around here!" His voice went sour near the end. Having a very disgusted tone.
Flash quickly picked up on that, "Uhhh….Sooo I'm gonna take it you don't really like her." Flash took his water bottle and began to take a swig.
Micro Chips sighed, "Don't mind him. He's still a bit temperamental about her."
"I am not!" Comet Tail protested, "It's just....I just slightly hold a grudge against people who play with other people's hearts."
"In other words. They dated." said Cheese Sandwich."
Flash stopped drinking his water for a moment. Almost immediately looking at Comet Tail, "Wait for real?"
"I'm not proud of it, yes." said Comet Tail, "But that doesn't matter anyway. Look, it was the night of the formal and she lost the crown to this other kid right. And apparently, that crown had some magical value or something because the next thing we knew, she was some evil Magical Demon monster and she destroyed a lot of the school. But thankfully she was defeated so you know, at least we wont being seeing her do that again."
Flash honestly had no words after hearing all of that. In fact each story he heard sounded like it came out of a Disney movie. He didn't even know if that exactly cleared up the whole stigma with new kids. Honesty he didn't know if they were bluffing or not.
"Oh dear god. What have I gotten myself into."
The school day had finally ended. Flash made his way over to his dad's car. Opening the passenger door and hopping right in.
"So....How was the first day?" Stormbringer asked.
"Uhh, it was....a little interesting to say the least."
Stormbringer arched an eyebrow at the 'odd' tone in Flash's voice, "Did something go wrong."
"N-No not that." said Flash, "It's just uhh…..I had an odd history lesson about this school today. I'm not sure if it's real or not though."
"Well uh, did you make any new friends?"
Flash nodded, "Yeah you know what, I did. He seems like a pretty chill guy. Other than that I think I'm pretty, so and so with this school."
"Ahh you'll get over it." Stormbringer patted Flash on the back, "Trust me, this school will grow on you one way or another."
Flash chuckled and rolled his eyes. "If you say so."
Author's Note
So, after two whole months of inactivity. I'm finally working on this story.
Anyway (I use this word alot by the way ) The next chapter is gonna be a little different. I'm not gonna explain much here but the only thing I'll say is that the "Journal" will play a little role in the chapter.
Rookie Year: First Touch Draft; CANCELLED!
Author's Note
So...
Yeah, I'm gonna completely honest. I have no idea how to carry this story on further.
I'd thought it works in theory, but it sort of became more and more difficult to figure out how to move this story forward.
Which is why I'm unfortunately cancelling it...
I will eventually get back to writing on this site. And I do have a new story idea.
So yeah :D
Rookie Year: First Touch Draft; CANCELLED!
Entry #159
Wow, It is really weird touching this thing again after a month. I think I've actually started to become so distracted with this new school that I forgot about this. And Man I have to say, nothing that extraordinary happened at all this month. Well I mean not to be sound like a little shit or anything.
Well, I don't really know how I could begin. Well, I do but, I like to give off a mysterious, 'I don't know' type of intro. Anyway...
I learned that this school has a bizarre history.
Everyone has this weird "Decree" as this guy likes to put it, about new students.
I think I've made friends so I'm not off to a bad start
My Dad made me get a hair cut which sucks cause I like it long
I still suck at math which isn't much of a surprise
Annddd. I broke my guitar!
Okay so that last one isn't exactly a good thing but I am so bored! Seriously, I've played through every game imaginable and I don't have a job so it's not like I can buy a new one anytime soon. I tried watching TV which, I had no idea was even possible to do in this day and age. That Idea didn't last long however so I'm back at Square one.
Flash stopped. He'd basically run out of words again, a common problem that'd become more and more frequent. He groaned. Closing his journal and set it aside on his bed. "UGH, I'm so bored !"
He practically slid
"Man even after all this time, I still suck at this!"
He was home alone. His father was out at his workplace and he would not be back for a while. Along with that, he practically went through everything he had.
His homework was complete more or less. Whether or not he got anything right or wrong was the least of his concern because getting it done alone was all that mattered to him.
He'd gotten bored of Gaming after three hours. As there was only so much he could do with each game that was completed.
And well, his Guitar was done for. At least for now, he'd find a place to repair it but he'd be sure that his whole allowance would be vacated for it.
So here he was, lying in bed bored out of his mind. Letting out a long sigh. "Well, at least I don't listen to the couple upstairs arguing all the time..."
