Chapter 10: Seeking answers

Morning had arrived as both Twilight and Spike awake as they prepared to take on the new day. However, this morning was also when they saw Dayman in a strange position as he was seen meditating, yet he was floating above the wooden floor while also glowing the same red aura from before as the two looked at each other before looking back at the human.

Spike proceeds to approach Dayman as he then starts waving underneath Dayman only to go wide-eyed for he assumed that their was some sort of trick to what he was doing.

“Uh Twilight is that normal?” he asked toward his adoptive mother who shakes her head as she gets closer to Dayman.

She then starts to move around him examining the reddish aura around him as she could also sense the amount of power emanating from her human friend and begins to grow more fascinated the longer, she stared.

“How long do you plan on staring at me?”

“EEPP!!!!!!!” said both Twilight and Spike as Dayman sets his feet down to the floor as he was now standing up as he opens his eyes to see a blushing Twilight and a bewildered Spike.

“Were you listening to us?” asked Twilight as Dayman nods at her before stretching out his body.

“Wait I thought when a person meditates, they become so deep in their mind that they ignore everything around them.” said Spike as Dayman shakes his head at him.

“True one is in deep thought when meditating, but I have also learned that one must also sense whatever is around him something I learned as a way for me to detect anyone when I am unable to see them.” he says as then stands up tall.

“By the way did you need me for something?” he asked as the two shake their heads before answering the human.

“Well can you explain to us how you were able to float like that?” asked Spike as Twilight then spoke.

“And are you going somewhere?” she asks as Dayman is seen putting on his gloves and boots one as Dayman sighs at this.

“Well to answer the first question, whenever I meditate my body surrounds me in a field as I am channeling the power of the red core throughout my body however it causes me to float from the floor. And to answer your second question yes I am, but its mostly due to something that I received last night.” He says as he hands the later from the other night to Twilight who proceeds to read it and goes wide-eyed at the contents in the letter as Spike snatches the later and reads it raising an eyebrow at the name of the sender.

“Church of the Red Star?” asked the little dragon as Dayman nods at him.

“Last night while you two were asleep I was alerted to a sound outside of the library and went to investigate it but once I got inside, I found this on the wall. By the way Twilight have you ever heard about a group called the Church of the Red Star?” said Dayman as Twilight began to ponder on this before answering the human.

“No, I have never heard of such a group, and you said that a member of them left you this letter?” she asked to which the human nods at her.

“That’s right I was told to meet one of there agents within the Everfree and I was planning on meeting there.” Said Dayman as Twilight grew worried at this.

“Are you crazy? What if you get hurt over there? For all we know whoever sent you this message could be leading you to a trap!!!!” said a concerned Twilight as she grabs onto the collar of Dayman’s shirt.

“I understand that, but they claim to have information that they wish to discuss with me. And I believe that they might have some info on the situation here in Equestria which is why I have to meet them.” he said as Twilight shook her head.

“Not without me you’re not.” Said Twilight in resolute as Spike stepped in.

“Same here bro. No way I am letting my big bro enter the Everfree without back up.” He said as Twilight shakes her head at him.

“No way Spike I need you stay here and keep watch over the library until we come back plus I want you to send a message to Celestia asking about this group and if we haven’t come back in less than 2 hours I need you to notify the others as well.” said Twilight as Spike wanted to protest until Dayman jumped in.

“Twilight is right, the journey over there may be dangerous and the last thing I want is for you to get hurt as well. *Hey but don’t I promise to bring you along the next time, and I will make sure to let Twilight know that its just us hanging out*.” Said Dayman though he whispered the last part to Spike and gave him a wink as well as Spike does the same.

Twilight was unaware of their little talk as she was gathering her bags which had her cutie mark on both sides before facing turning to Dayman as she conjures up a map with her magic.

“From what they said from the letter it would seem that the location should be right here in the Everfree.” She answered as Dayman nods at her.

“Alright let’s be off then.” Said Dayman only to be stopped by Twilight who grabs him by the wrist.

“You’re not going to bring anything with you?” she asked to which Dayman then pulls out his katana from out of his jacket.

“And I also brought these as well.” he then pulled out a bunch of smaller knives in his hand before placing them back into his jacket.

“Is that enough?” he asked to which the purple unicorn simply nodded at him as the two proceeded to exit out from the library though not before waving goodbye at Spike who does the same as the two leave while the little dragon proceeds to write a letter to Celestia about the current situation at hand.

Location: Everfree Forest

As we see the human and unicorn entering the forest Twilight begins to grow curious at Dayman who was currently twirling one of the smaller knives in his left hand.

“Hey what are those? You never showed those when you spoke with the others.” Commented Twilight as Dayman looks at her.

“Oh, these are just some knives I crafted just as a backup weapon for my guns once they overheat. Which is why I am grateful for having a craft skill to make these things along with some other items as well.” He said as Twilight was surprised at this.

“Crafting Skill? Why didn’t you mention this before?” She said as Dayman shrugged at her.

“Well, you never asked, but hey now you know though I am glad that I had some of the materials needed within my jacket to make these knives. You see back home in the land of Gaia certain individuals are given a unique skill once they reach a certain age. I was one of those that was given the crafting skill which allows me to create items just by channeling my power through my hands to create them but in order to do that, I need to know the instructions of how to make it and the materials to do it.” He said as Twilight was surprised at this bit of information.

“Your simply full of surprises aren’t you Dayman?” she said as Dayman chuckles at her statement.

“What can I say I like to learn new things. Though I honestly didn’t think I had such a skill since my other siblings have more unique skills than mine.” He says as Twilight was about to answer them until Dayman stopped in his track as Twilight did the same as she looked at him with a curious gaze.

“Why did you-…” she was cut off as Dayman shushes her to stay quiet as he pulls out his sword and was in front of Twilight in a defensive stance.

“Trouble is coming…” he said quietly as Twilight got closer to him as they both looked around for whatever was coming until.

“GROWL!!!!!!!”

A wolf made of wood is seen lunging towards the two as Dayman swung his sword severing its head from its shoulders as the wooded beast falls onto the ground as its head rolls to the side. Dayman then turns to his right as he pulls out his gun and fires at 2 of the wooden dogs hitting one in the forehead and the other on the side of its neck as they each hit the ground. One dashes from behind him as but is immediately blasted by a bolt of magic curtesy of Twilight as her hands and horn glowed with magic as the two continued the fight as 5 more rush toward them.

“What in the world are these things?” asked Dayman as he kicks one of the wooden dogs back.

“Their timber wolves I read that these creatures are apparently beings created from the Everfree itself.” She answered before sending two of them away with a levitation spell.

“Remind me to read more about the creatures in the Everfree when we get back to the library.” Said Dayman as he slashes one wolf in half with his katana.

“Noted and I also wish to know how that crafting skill works too.” Said Twilight as she fires another bolt at one of the wolves.

However, one manages to lunge at her while she wasn’t looking as it comes towards her in the air but is then hit to the side by Dayman’s flying kick as it impacts onto a nearby tree before shattering into splinters as Dayman lands on his feet though not before giving Twilight a two fingered salute. The purple unicorn mare blushes at this but was able to quickly recompose herself as she gives Dayman a thumbs up before the two then regrouped. The wolves that survived went running while those that were cut down by Dayman’s katana lay across the dirt as Twilight took notice at many cut down wolves as Dayman wipes off the green blood from his katana before putting it away in his jacket.

“You really are good with a sword Dayman.” Commented Twilight as Dayman smiles at her.

“And you were incredible with those magic bolts Twilight; I honestly didn’t think you use attack spells before.” Complimented the human as Twilights cheeks turned red for a moment.

“Well after seeing you trained, I got curious and started looking up some attack spells that might come in handy and I am glad I did find some for what happened right now. Anyway, we should probably keep going if you wish to meet this agent.” Said Twilight as Dayman nods at her.

“You’re right let’s continue then.” said Dayman as they continued down the path.

However, they were unaware of a mysterious cloak figure watching them from a far as this one mostly heads her eyes on the human as she forms a smile underneath the shroud of her hood as she follows the two toward the location of the meeting.

After a passing through more of the Everfree, Twilight and Dayman had finally arrived to the meeting point as they find themselves in a large open clearing of the forest as they move toward the center. Both looked around hoping to spot this agent that had told them to come out here.

“Well, we’re here on the spot it said. So where is this agent that had told us to come here?” said the purple unicorn as Dayman continued to look around.

“Actually, the message was only meant for the descendant of Crimson star to arrive but seeing is how you’re the bearer of the element of magic I willing to let this slide.”

Said a female voice which startles the two as they look around for the source of the voice only for Dayman to spot a figure in a black cloak standing over the branch on one of the nearby tree’s as he points towards the figure as Twilight then spotted them. The figure smiles under the shroud of her hood as she leaps off the branch and lands onto the ground gracefully before walking towards the two as they felt a bit uneased at the sight of the figure as Dayman got into a fighting stance for whatever may come. However, the figure raised her hand to them as she stood before the two.

“There is no need to feel threatened descendant of Crimson Star I am the agent that had sent you the message last night. And let me say it is honor to finally meet you in person.”

Said the agent as she bows to him in a respectable manner which surprised the human though Twilight felt a bit irked at how she spoke to him.

“Umm well its also a pleasure to meet you…miss…?” he said as the agent then removed her hood to reveal a unicorn mare with a dark pink coat with a red velvet mane and tail with blue green eyes though what stood out the most was that she had a broken horn.

“My original name was Fizzlepop Berrytwist, but after joining the church I now go by the name Tempest Shadow.” Said the unicorn agent as Dayman found her name to be interesting though he did find her original name to be rather cute.

“Well then it’s a pleasure to meet you lady Shadow my name is Dayman, and this lovely lady is my companion Twilight Sparkle.” Said the human as Twilight blushed at his words as she then realized something.

“Wait you mentioned the church of the red star just what exactly is this church and why has no one ever heard of such a group like this?” asked Twilight as Tempest looked at her with an unamused gaze.

“You bring up a good question Miss Sparkle. But before I tell anything I wish to examine something first with lord Dayman here. After all I had recently learned that he regained his connection to the red core is that correct?” she said as Dayman was shocked but quickly recomposed himself as he channeled a bit of the red cores power through his hand as it begins to glow with a reddish aura as Tempest grew fascinated at the sight of it.

“Amazing, just simply amazing the very that Crimson Star once used many years ago. And now his successor finally returns to us.” Said Tempest as she held onto his glowing hand much to Dayman’s bewilderment and Twilight’s annoyance.

Tempest realizing what she was doing lets go of him and backs up a bit as she face reddens a bit.

“Forgive me Lord Dayman I don’t know what came over me.” Said Tempest who bowed her head to the human while mentally berating herself for acting in that manner.

“Its alright and you don’t have to call me Lord or anything like that just Dayman is alright okay.” answered the human who was not used to having people treat them in this sort of manner even back on his world.

“Of course, lo-…I mean Dayman. Now then I believe that I should explain more about the group I work for and what it means for you. Though I suggest what we all sit down because this may take a while.” Said Tempest as both Dayman and Twilight nodded at her as they all sat by the shade of the tree before beginning the tale of the Church of the Red Star.

“So, you two are familiar with the many things Crimson Star had done during his time in Equestria correct?” questioned Tempest as the other two nodded at her.

“Well, its thanks to the many great deeds that Crimson had done it inspired the equestrians to form a small group of agents which later became an underground organization called *The Church of the Red Star*. An organization that works behind the scenes in order to aid Crimson Star throughout his life though in the beginning we started working without his knowledge before revealing ourselves. And throughout the years we have worked alongside Crimson during many of his adventures.” Said Tempest as both Twilight and Dayman raised an eyebrow at this.

“So, Crimson never made this group?” asked Twilight to which Tempest shook her head.

“Not in the beginning the church was formed while Crimson took part in the war against the griffons when their mad king declared war on the ponies of Equestria. When he returned is when we revealed ourselves to him though much like Dayman, he was surprised at this but was amazed at this. Since then, we became his eyes and ears within public. But it wasn’t much later that things got serious and how he later left us instructions that we had though at the time we were unsure what he meant and were unable to find out for he later died trying to protect Celesita from Nightmare moon but it wasn’t until many years later that our elder brought together and foretold of Crimson’s descendant coming in the form of a shooting star. The same star where you come in Dayman.” Said Tempest as Dayman was surprised at the bit of info.

“His instructions were to aid his descendants by aiding him in the fight against the very darkness that had corrupted Princess Luna by helping him regain his strength while also passing on the knowledge that Crimson had learned many years ago. Now that you received his old belt you can now learn some of the magic that Crimson once used against the darkness.” She said as Dayman nodded at her.

“Right the spirits of King Cosmos and Queen Galaxia had told me about the situation here in a Equestria. And if I wish to stop this threat, I will need all the help I can get to handle this situation.” He said as Twilight then spoke.

“Don’t forget I will also help out as well and if possible, so will the girls after what you did for us, we pretty much owe you a lot for what you have done…including me.” Said the Twilight though she said the last part in a low tone though it was then that Twilight had a thought in mind before facing Tempest.

“Wait but does Princess Celestia or Luna know about you guys?” asked Twilight as Tempest shook her head as both Dayman and Twilight look at each other wondering why.

“During the time the organization was made, the elders figured that it would be best to keep this group under the crowns radar as to not put too much attention toward Crimson Star. And it got worse after he and the royal sisters had failed to save the Crystal Empire it lead to the 3 having a falling out as it caused him to leave Equestria for a time before coming back when Nightmare Moon arrived. Sadly, that’s all that I know about that situation.” Said Tempest as the other two were shocked at this bit of info.

Though Dayman and Twilight to make a mental note to investigate that incident on a later date.

“You mentioned something about learning the knowledge of Crimson Star just what kind of knowledge are we talking about?” asked Dayman as Tempest reach into her cloak as she pulled out a light blue gem before presenting it to the two.

“Many years ago, Crimson was able to learn how to use spells by channeling his power through his belt along with a set 4 of spell gems infused with elemental magic. This gem was one of the sets that the church was able to recover as the other 3 were scattered. Here.” she says handing the gem to Dayman as he held the gem in his right hand.

Just then the gem begins to glow before it floats off from his hand as the belt then appears around his waist as the gem then inserts itself into one of the empty slots on the upper left side. Suddenly his body begins to glow with a sky-blue aura as his body then floats off from the ground as they two mares grew worried as they got to their hooves.

“OH NO DAYMAN!!! WHAT IN EQUESTRIA DID YOU DO?!!!” Screamed Twilight at Tempest as the two got onto their hooves.

“Do not blame me for this I didn’t know this would happen!!” yelled back Tempest as they both watch as Dayman’s eyes lit up with the same sky-blue aura as his hair turned white as his hands were incased in ice before a bright flash blinded the two mares who quickly covered their eyes.

Once the light fades both look back to Dayman who was now on his knees as he tries to get up as the two mares rush to him as Twilight holds him up by his left while Tempest held up his right as he was up on his feet.

“Dayman are you alright?” asked a concerned Twilight as Dayman tries to shake off the blurriness from his eyes as he tries to get his mind straight.

“Y-yeah I am fine, at least I think I am…” he says however the two mares felt a sudden chill as they let go of his as Dayman’s hands glowed with the same blue aura as his they were now coated in a layer of ice.

“What the?” said a shocked Dayman as he fires a projectile from his right hand as it hits a nearby tree trunk coating it in ice shocking the mares though not as much as Twilight who had stars in her eyes.

“SWEET CELESTIA THAT WAS AMAZING. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS FORM OF MAGIC BEFORE, SOMETHING LIKE THIS NEEDS FURTHER STUDY.” She said in a fan girl like state as Dayman smiles nervously at the purple unicorn.

“Amazing it would appear that the gem had granted you the ability to use the elemental magic of ice just like Crimson Star. From what I learned Crimson was able to use elemental magic based on the 4 gems he collected when he explored all around Equestria.” Said Tempest as Dayman is surprised at this as he examines his hands amazed at how he can use magic now.

However, it was then that he felt a presence as he looks to his right as he gets into a battle stance as the mares take notice of this.

“Dayman what’s-…” Twilight was cut off by a loud howl as another Timber wolf appears only this one was much more different than the others she and Dayman fought.

This timber wolf was much bigger than the ones having jagged teeth, darker colored wooden body, and was emanating a dark blue aura as it snarled at the sight of the 3 as it had its eyes on the human who had a serious look on his face as his mask covers his face.

“Looks like the darkness has sent one of its minions to attack us get ready for a fight you two.” He said as he pulls out his sword as Twilights horn and hands lit up with a magenta aura while Tempest’s lights up her broken horn and hands with a blue aura as it sparked with power.

The corrupted wolf lets out another howl before charging at the three as Twilight fires a bolt of magic hitting the wolf in the left eye as it stops in place as Tempest moves to the side before firing her own magical bolt toward the wolfs side as it hits its mark. Dayman then rushes forward before delivering a right downward slash and a horizontal slash to the wolfs snout as the beast howls in pain before trying to take a bit on to the human who dodges to the side. Twilight then fires another bolt as the wolf then sets its sight on the purple unicorn as Dayman takes this as an opportunity to deliver a slash to the wolfs left front leg cutting it off as the beast goes down.

The beast then lets out a loud howl as a bunch of black holes appear from the ground as 10 wolves made shadow rise from the ground as they snarled at the 3 who were shocked at this as they all charge them. Twilight and Tempest fired their own magic bolts only for them to push some of them back while not doing any damage to them while the rest of them lunged at the mares.

“OH NO YOU DON’T!!!!!”

Yelled out the human as gets in front of the girls with his left-hand cocked back glowing with a blue aura before thrusting it forward as he fired a beam of ice toward the incoming wolves who were then frozen in ice as they fall to the ground before shattering into pieces. Both the mares stare at the human in disbelief as he stood tall as the aura around him glowed brightly as the other wolves shivered at the sight of the human. Two of them decided to be brave as they rush toward Dayman who then delivers a left hook to the wolf’s snout as it dissipates into nothing as the second one tried to attack him from behind only for Dayman to catch the wolf before judo slamming the creature to the ground then proceeds to stab it with his sword as it dissipates as well.

“YOUR TARGET IS ME LEAVE THEM OUT OF THIS!!” Said Dayman as he glares at the wolves who then proceeded to snarl at the human as they prepared to lunge at him much to Twilights shock.

Dayman then gets into stance as places his sword downward to the left side of his hip with his right hand holding onto the handle tightly while the left hand was pressed onto the side of the blade. The remaining wolves then proceed to rush at him before lunging towards before….

*SLASH*

*SHINK*

*WHOOSH*

In the blink of an eye each of the wolves were cut down as they all fall towards the ground completely lifeless as Dayman stood up with bits of green blood stained on parts of his body as he flicks the blood off from his blade. The mares were stunned after witnessing how fast Dayman had swung his sword as well as the precision he did with each strike as the human then puts away his sword before turning towards the black timber wolf who snarled at him with hatred. Dayman then reaches both hands inside his jacket before pulling out his dual black heart pistols and aims them towards the snarling timber wolf.

“Your move.” Said Dayman in a calm tone as the wolf then lets out a loud howl before charging towards the human who then proceeds to fire both of his guns. Little did he know that his hands were coated in ice and as he channeled his energy into his guns they began to fire light blue projectiles as they each freeze parts of the creatures body as it begins to slow down yet it continued to approach the human who continued firing as various shots rang out as ice covered the wolf’s arm, shoulder, eye, and side as Twilight and Tempest covered their ears from how loud his guns made.

*BEEP, BEEP*

*BEEP, BEEP*

Just then both of his guns begin to let off a beeping sound ending his shots as he looked at them to see that they were both steaming which can only mean one thing…

“There Overheating now? Crap....” He says as he twirls his guns back into his jacket as the wolf manages to shake off the ice and proceeded to charge forward with its mouth open and was about to take a bite out of Dayman. However, he quickly leaps into the air as the creature bites onto the ground as Dayman then channels a bit of his power onto his right foot before bringing it down hard onto the creatures head before channeling power onto his left leg as he then delivered a left roundhouse kick sending the creature back a few steps as it rolls onto the dirt as Dayman lands onto his feet.

Both Twilight and Tempest stood there in awe after seeing what Dayman had done though they notice that Dayman had flinched as he struggled to stand up. The wolf gets back onto its paws as it shakes off the dizziness from the attack it received as it turned to the human who was letting off sparks of red as his hands and feet glowed with a red aura.

“IT’S TIME TO END THIS!!!” Said Dayman as he rushes toward the wolf and in the blink of an eye, he delivers a right jab to the wolf’s muzzle before sending a barrage of punches while shouting out a battle cry for everyone to remember.

“AH TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA. AH TAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!”

He then delivers a powerful round house as the impact of the kick was enough to cause the wolf to bulge up like a balloon before exploding into a million pieces as Twilight and Tempest were in disbelief at what had just happened as they look toward the human who stood tall for the moment before falling onto one knee. This gets them worried as they rush over to the human who was panting heavily as Twilight grabs him by his right side while Tempest grabbed him by his left as they both help him onto his feet.

“Dayman are you alright?” said the two mares in unison as Dayman shakes his head before looking at the two.

“I-I’m fine. It would appear that I still have a long way to go until I can use my power without any issue.” He says as Twilight sighs in relief while Tempest smiles at the human grateful to hear that he is alright.

Just then a dark blue orb appears before them as it emanated the same aura that was inside the large timber wolf as floats in front of them.

“What in the world is that?” asked Twilight however Dayman was starting to hear something from the blue orb as he moves toward the blue with his hand glowing red and as he grabbed onto the blue orb when all of a sudden a bright flash is made blinding the three as they each covered their eyes for a few brief seconds before the light faded as a small creature was then floating towards the ground as Dayman immediately caught it before it could even touch the ground. Sighing in relief he then has the little creature laying on his arms as Twilight and Tempest are wide-eyed at the small creature laying in the arms of the human.

For it was nothing but a small black and blue baby alicorn foal with a midnight coat, blueish mane and blue eyes as it slowly opened its eyes at the 3 staring at her yet at seeing Dayman’s eyes she begins to smile excitedly while one word that had both the human and the two mares shocked beyond belief.

“Papa!....”

this took forever and I do apologize for taking this long. Thanks to a flood that ruined the basement of my home i was busy with renovations. but thankfully i was able to get everything ready for this story and soon the other story i hope you guys like this and will see you in the next post.
